Why Bkdk is NOT toxic:
A look through their relationship throughout the series
Cw// MAJOR bnha manga spoilers
As bakudekus, we experience that “bkdk is toxic!1!” argument on a daily. It’s something that we have all just.. let sit next to us knowing that it’s always going to be there. Of course, and understandably, it bothers most of us. What many see, especially non-manga readers, isn’t what we see.
Let’s start off with what they see. In the first episode/chapter, we start off with Bakugous infamous “Swan dive off the roof” line.
Tumblr media
Of course, no matter how you look at it, this was a terrible thing that Bakugou said to Izuku. There is no excuse. Telling someones to kts, no matter how you may disagree and not see eye to eye, is always inexcusable (this applies to real life too!!)
Later in the chapter, Bakugou carries around a can that says “Lip Service,” which, pretty much means being all talk and not meaning actions behind the words that are being said (usually said with a negative connotation.)
Tumblr media
Once again, does this excuse what he said to Izuku? Absolutely not. However, this does give us insight on the future and when we find out about how Bakugou feels for Deku.
Note: As for the bullying prior to this scene, there is no proof that Bakugou continuously bullied Deku as of when this has been written.
Then, the sludge incident happened. At first glance, Deku looked horrified at the attack. However, he didn’t make any moves as he assumed that the heroes will come in and save the person. Once it was revealed to him that it was Bakugou, Izuku had his “My body moved on its own” moment and did not even hesitate to save Kacchan.
Tumblr media
After the sludge villain attack, it was explicitly stated that Bakugou had not bullied Deku since then.
Now, the two are in UA and it is revealed that Deku has a quirk to Bakugou. A quirk that he was told to keep its origins of a secret. However, Deku told Bkg about OFA, ignoring All Mights warnings because he felt like he could not lie to Kacchan. Despite them still having a very rocky relationship at this point in the series, Deku still felt the need to tell Kacchan about OFA. He could not lie to him. He could lie to his mom, all of UA, everyone in the world, but not to Kacchan.
Fast forward to DVK2 and they are fighting out their emotions. Here, Deku talks about how, although he hated those small parts of Bakugou that bullied him, he never let the bad outshine the good. He always looked up to Bakugou and wanted to be just like him.
Tumblr media
Deku compares how he sees Kacchan to All Might. His literal hero. The man who he idolizes like crazy. He felt closer and more inspired by Kacchan than All Might. Because Kacchan was always there next to him. In Dekus eyes, despite the bullying and all, he saw Kacchan as more than All Might.
Izuku expresses how he is the only one who can accept Bakugous feelings. Not because it is explicitly about the two of them, rather it’s because he is the only one willing to listen and understand where he is coming from. And Bakugou knows this too. He could have easily asked anyone else, but instead he chose Izuku. He trusted Deku enough to be vulnerable around him.
During this fight, Bakugou expresses how he always thought that Deku continuously looked down on him. And it’s because he has never seen such genuine kindness from anyone. He was always expected to get up on his own. All because of his quirk and how he was praised for being gifted with such. He always thought that Izuku had an “attitude” that he was so unfamiliar with.
Deku, during their fight, although he does not say it out loud because he thinks that it “sounds stupid,” talks about how he sees Kacchan and his image of victory. To him, when he thinks of victory, Kacchan is who comes to mind.
After this fight, they are able to start to see eye to eye and start to understand each other’s perspectives. Now that Bakugou knows about OFA, they start to work and grow together. Win to save and Save to win.
Tumblr media
In the JT arc there are very fun moments between the two as they start becoming more and more friendly with each other. They continue to try and one up each other, but it is much different than before. There is a lighter undertone to their words and actions. They start hanging out in the meeting room with All Might as there is also a lot of banter between the two—this is when their relationship has started to mend. Not to mention, during this arc Deku unlocks black whip all because Monoma insulted Kacchan.
Now, after the two spend so much time together with the JT and Endeavor agency arcs, the two has become much closer than they were at the beginning of the series. The two have started to mend their bond and continue to do so.
Then, the war arc.
After realizing that Shigaraki is after OFA, Deku makes the decision to follow after him. Throughout these panels, he looks absolutely terrified. Of course, why wouldn’t he be? He is about to run into a battle field all on his own, without any support and with no one knowing what he plans to do.
However, Kacchan does.
Kacchan follows Deku to Shigaraki. He claims that it’s because he has “unfinished business” with him, but, while that may be partly true, that’s not the full truth (I.e. he wants to protect Deku.)
Now, the two have reached Shigaraki and Deku is fighting against him. Bakugou tells Deku to get away from him and that he should be the last person near him. The response Bakugou gets is that no one else can defeat Shigaraki as Kacchan watches Deku in absolute fear that he will end up being terribly hurt.
Tumblr media
Side note: look at the terror in his eyes.. I’m gonna sob
Within this specific fight with Shigaraki, there are many heroes with the two. Some of which are Endeavor, Shouto, Rock Lock, Aizawa (injured), etc. Despite knowing that this is a child up in the air fighting Shigaraki, some (not Rock Lock, he had the right idea with questioning why children are on the battle field) look in amazement as Deku continuously breaks himself so he can try and get Shigaraki down.
However, Kacchan sees past this as he yells at the other heroes about how this is not helping Deku in the slightest and that he is going to get himself killed at the rate that he was going.
Bakugou devises a plan to try and help Deku and to get Shigaraki down as the heroes look in awe at Deku. He uses Shouto and Endeavor as they try and get up to where the two were and have Endeavor use his Prominence Burn on Shigaraki in hopes that would bring him down.
While Bakugou is flying them up to Deku, he has a flashback to a conversation with All Might.
They were training Deku with black whip. They were playing a game called “Catch a Kacchan” (I will never get over how cute this name is 😭) and they called in others to help Deku practice with quirks similar to the ones that he will eventually or has either unlocked (Uraraka for Float, Tsu for black whip, etc.)
As All Might and Bakugou watch on as Deku trains, they have a conversation.
Bakugou asks All Might why he is hiding information about the fourth user from Deku. No, he doesn’t ask, he confronts him. He confronts his childhood hero for the sake of Deku. He straight up tells All Might to stop keeping information from, knowing that this could potentially harm him.
Bakugou is upset at that point. He wishes for All Might to stop keeping secrets from them, more specifically Deku.
Then, as the two continue to talk, All Might brings up the fact that he is worried for Izuku. And Bakugou is too, to which he does not deny in any sort of way.
Tumblr media
Note: once again, even when they’re not on the battle field, Bakugou looks so worried for Deku. Many have speculated that him looking tired throughout this chapter (ch. 284) has to do with him continuously worrying about Izuku and thinking about their past together.
Bakugou continues the conversation as he talks about how Deku does not understand how special he is. All Might brings up the idea of atonement and questions Bakugou as to whether that is what he is doing with Deku as a way to make up for their past, to which Bakugou does not disagree upon. The conversation then ends with All Might talking about how the two will eventually get to talk this out together and allow for Bakugou to express his worries for Deku to him.
Then, the scene changes back to the battle field as Endeavor uses his Prominence Burn onto Shigaraki, only for it to fail as he got right back up due to his regeneration.
The battle continues between Deku and Shigaraki (who at this point is AFO) as he releases Quirk Activation spikes in Izukus direction.
Kacchan, seeing as Deku is about to get hurt, rushes to him in an instant.
Throughout this scene, we see Bakugous inner monologue. Here, we are shown all his regrets with his and Dekus relationship. How he completely regrets bullying him in the past. Deku are his final thoughts in a moment where he thinks he is about to die.
Kacchan had his “my body moved on its own” moment as he rushed in to save Deku.
Tumblr media
After Bakugou was hit, his first words to Deku were to try and calm him down and to tell him to not win this on his own.
Upon seeing Kacchan hurt, to even say that Deku went bat shit crazy would be an understatement. He was absolutely livid as we see him fight like never before.
As Deku continues to fight against Shigaraki, Shouto flies up with his fire quirk to catch Bakugou as he is falling, to which he eventually grabs Deku after him and Shigaraki separate and Izuku starts to fall.
After putting them on the ground, Shouto goes back and fight with Nejire.
As Iida had arrived at the battle field by this point, he tries to help an injured Bakugou get out of the battle field. However, Bakugou refuses as he continues to fight.
Here, it is revealed that Bakugou, just by seeing Deku almost die, has never felt so close to death in his lifetime. Not when Bakugou got kidnapped. Not when class 1A was attack at the USJ, not after he was stabbed. It was the thought of Deku dying that made him feel like he was about to die.
The need to get to Deku caused for a quirk evolution as he had to advance his quirk in that moment to be able to reach Deku.
Tumblr media
After the battle is done, Bakugou falls into a 2 day coma. When he wakes up, the first thing he asks is how Deku, Todoroki, Aizawa, etc. are doing.
Upon hearing that Deku is still asleep, Kacchan rushes out of bed to get to his room despite still being heavily injured. At this moment, Bakugou knew that he would not be able to talk to Deku. He just wanted to know if he was okay. He just wanted to see him.
Tumblr media
After having to tie him up with Tsuyus tongue, knowing that that if they tie him up with anything else he would explode it, Bakugou yells “Why am I awake while you’re still asleep?” towards Dekus room as he is being dragged away by the class.
Many have taken that line as a way of showing that Bakugou fully expected to die for Deku at that moment. And he was willing to. Seeing that his effort to protect him failed and led to Deku being in a coma only greatly upset Kacchan.
At the moment that this has been written, Deku still hasn’t woken up and Kacchan was forced back to his room.
If after reading this post you still think that bkdk is toxic because of their past, I do want you to understand that people change. We all have a past, a present, and a future. You are not who you were in your past. You are who you are in the present, and you will be someone different in the future.
Bakugou clearly regrets how he treated Deku. This is not an opinion, this is a fact. He is trying to change and mend their relationship. They are living in the present right now, not the past.
Izuku does not hold any grudge against him and even admits that he feels blessed to be able to have conversations with Kacchan.
When it comes to Bakudeku, so many only look at the first episode. Even if you’re just an anime-only, the anime has DVK2. The episode where a lot of their progression comes from.
At this point, if you still think that their relationship is toxic, then im really not sure what to tell you. If your argument is still “in the first episode...” The no. Stop. We are 300+ chapters in. These two are the main protagonists and the show literally revolves around them. They are obviously going to grow. You can’t completely ignore this growth because of what happened in the first episode. You can’t only look at the things you want to and ignore the big picture.

AFO’s Weaknesses
All for One is an incredibly powerful quirk (maybe THE most powerful quirk next to OFA). The ability to steal quirks, be able to use those quirks, and the ability to give those quirks away is OP AF.
It’s not surprising that AFO became the most powerful villain with a quirk like that. The possibilities are endless.
But it doesn’t mean that there aren’t any weaknesses.
Tumblr media
(In depth look at the possible weaknesses of the quirk AFO and some comparison to OFA. This meta was originally part of another meta that was getting too long and off topic, needless to say there will be manga spoilers below the cut!)
As I already said, AFO can basically do three things: steal, use, and give away quirks. Each one has potential limitations that have been addressed in the manga or have been carefully not discussed at all. I’ll go through as many as I can think of.
Part One: To Steal a Quirk
So we know for sure AFO steals quirks. It doesn’t borrow the power or allow the user to copy it (like Monoma’s quirk). It steals the abilities forever, leaving the original quirk-holder without their quirk.
We know from Ragdoll, that when a quirk is stolen the experience may be traumatic, but ultimately the person can go back to their same personality after a period of time and rest (ch 184).
Tumblr media
We also know that AFO can steal quirks relating to mental abilities (Ragdoll’s search), enhancing physical sensations (super hearing and vibration sensing), enhancing physical abilities (super strength and speed), and possibly a variety of other abilities (warp quirk, cybernetic fingernail quirk, etc).
AFO also has a quirk that relates to prolonged life in some way whether that be related to an advanced healing factor, immortality, advanced durability, or any number of other possible quirks is unclear.
We can also assume it can steal quirks relating to external manipulation (Best Jeanist). Even though he didn’t steal Best Jeanist’s quirk he suggested that it was within his ability, it just wouldn’t be useful because it required too much training.
We can also assume that many of the Nomu’s skills were gifted by AFO, meaning that they’re quirks that AFO would have been able to steal. But it’s unclear which quirks the Nomu’s started with and which ones were given.
While there hasn’t been any definitive evidence that there are quirks that AFO can’t steal, I would imagine it’s impossible for AFO to steal quirks that require a physical mutation. Similar to how Aizawa is unable to turn mutation quirks off and uses his scarf and fighting skills to counteract them.
Tumblr media
The reason this makes sense is because of Aizawa’s limitations. But also because AFO hasn’t stolen a quirk of a person with extra eyes in order to be able to see again and looks entirely like a normal man in a suit. Either he can’t steal mutation quirks or he always gives mutation quirks away (which, again, doesn’t make sense for a guy with no eyes).
The hole in that theory is the Nomu’s have mutation quirks. Either this is from AFO having the ability to transfer mutation quirks, or this is due to the doctor’s quirk, or they’re starting with a person with a mutation quirk and adding other types of quirks to it, or some combination therein.
The pterodactyl Nomu having (at least in part) the mind of Izuku’s childhood friend (ch 56) would suggest that the friend was the starting place that quirks were added to. But the way both the pterodactyl Nomu and the USJ Nomu look different from their original bodies would mean that someone’s quirk is responsible for that physical change whether that be AFO or the doctor’s quirk.
Tumblr media
Even so I still think it’s most likely that AFO is unable to steal mutation quirks, and that the mutations in the Nomu are a result of the doctor’s work.
One would assume for One For All to have survived as long as it has, that AFO is unable to for whatever reason steal OFA. Although this has not been confirmed by anything other than its continued existence.
Another possible weakness of how AFO steals quirks is the distance at which a quirk can be stolen. So far in the manga the only character we’ve seen AFO steal a quirk from was Ragdoll and we didn’t get to see the process.
But we have gotten to see one important scene where AFO gifts a quirk:
Tumblr media
In this case AFO is putting his hands directly onto the victim’s head and then giving a quirk from there. It would make sense that AFO would have to touch a person to give them a quirk and would have to also touch them to take away a quirk.
It’s also a weakness that AFO cannot sense quirks. He doesn’t realize his brother already had a quirk before gifting a second one (as far as we know). He also takes a minute fighting Best Jeanist before determining that his quirk isn’t useful to steal.
It also may take time to steal a quirk, but I haven’t been able to find any evidence one way or another how long it might take for AFO to steal a quirk, except that we know it takes less than 24 hours (due to how long Ragdoll was kidnapped).
So we know that stealing a quirk:
is permanent (but not permanently debilitating)
that most types of quirks can be stolen (although possibly not mutations)
that they can be stolen from touching a victim (although distance is unclear)
and that they take less than 24 hours to steal (but may possibly take significantly less than that).
Part 2: To Use a Quirk
It’s quite possible there’s a limit to the number of quirks AFO could hold at one time, although it hasn’t been addressed or suggested in any way. However, having a limit could make sense of the reason AFO doesn’t just steal everyone’s power around him, and be another reason for him to have given up a quirk to his brother.
It’s also never been addressed how many quirks AFO can use at a single time, not just hold, but actually use. We have seen him use several quirks at once to make his arm an incredible amount stronger, but there may be a limit.
As we’ve seen from AFO’s fight with Best Jeanist (ch. 89), he’s pretty picky about the quirks he decides to take. He doesn’t want quirks that require a lot of training or experience, because when he takes a quirk he doesn’t automatically get training or experience when he steals it, and neither does anyone he gives a quirk to.
Tumblr media
This means that while AFO can steal a wide variety of quirks, he’s looking for quirks that are powerful regardless of training. This is the most clear and obvious weakness of AFO. He takes time (just like everybody else) to master certain quirks, and he doesn’t want to take that time.
(I also really like this impatience quality in AFO from a storytelling perspective, because it puts him as a foil to characters like Mirio who directly stated that his quirk is only strong because he made it strong. It gives a very good life lesson on being a hero/good/talented really requires putting in the work.)
And (mostly just for fun) we can also look at something like Class A and see who’s most at risk of getting their quirk stolen:
Tsuyu Asui, Tenya Iida, Mashirao Ojiro, Mezo Shoji, Kyoka Jiro, Hanta Sero, Toru Hagakure, Minoru Mineta (very unlikely) - powers seem to rely on physical mutations
Momo Yaoyorozu (very unlikely) - powerful quirk but requires the most training of anyone in the class to be able to work, she can only make things that she knows the entirety of the chemical structures (dayum this gurl has to be smart)
Yugo Aoyama (unlikely) - needs mechanical support for quirk to work well, and physical drawback of puking after only a little output
Rikido Sato (maybe) - good strong power even without training, has mental drawbacks, and a requirement to function (eating lots of sugar)
Fumikage Tokoyami (maybe) - it’s unclear how much dark shadow is its own person, it may not listen to a different master, or it may work really well with a villain
Mina Ashido, Koji Koda (likely) - good strong powers, doesn’t require too much control, powers don’t appear to rely on their physical mutations
Ochako Ururuaka, Denki Kaminari, Eijiro Kirishima, Shoto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugou (most likely) - good strong powers even without training, not too harsh of drawbacks when used within reason
We also know (thank you Bakugou) that all quirks have drawbacks to use them. Sometimes the drawbacks take a physical toll like with Bakugou or Todoroki. Sometimes they take a mental toll like Sato or Kaminari. Sometimes the drawback is about having control over the power like Tokoyami. But it means that AFO must also be getting these drawbacks when he uses other people’s quirks. He should be able to be worn down, but he also probably picks powers that have fewer drawbacks to them. This is also reasoning for why AFO wouldn’t just steal everyone’s quirk around himself.
Tumblr media
Using quirks is really where I see OFA at having the advantage over AFO.
AFO may not have had too much trouble defeating OFA users during the first few generations. But with each new iteration of OFA, as it gets passed down user to user, it gets more powerful. They don’t just get the quirks of the previous users, they also get the physical capability of each quirk user added to their own. OFA users get their own quirks amplified, their physical abilities amplified, AND the ability to use previous owner’s quirks.
OFA is limited in the number of quirks based only on how many previous generations there were. Same for how much power it has stockpiled. I went into slightly more depth in how OFA now works with the newest manga info in this meta. From what we can understand the stockpiled power is what can amplify a user’s own quirk and or physical abilities.
Izuku will have to train his own body and skills very hard to be able to use the stockpiled power without breaking himself, as well as to be able to use the previous owners quirks. (As I mentioned this will very neatly make Izuku a foil of AFO, and makes my literary brain quite happy)
Really this means that AFO’s power comes from having access to a larger number of weaker quirks (especially as OFA becomes more powerful generation after generation). Of course AFO could counteract that just by, ya know, training, but what kind of big bad would he be if someone saw him sweating at the gym?
Tumblr media
So it’s cool to think that a lot of what the final battle is gonna hinge on isn’t what a person’s quirk is, but how much they’ve trained their quirk to become strong. What makes you a hero isn’t how strong or skilled you are, it’s how much you work towards doing good for both yourself and others. (*sheds a single tear for Mirio)
But I digress.
AFO
May or may not have a limit to number of quirks he can hold and use at any given time (and it may be so many that it won’t become relevant)
Has to train to use quirks that require lots of training (and specifically won’t steal a strong quirk if it requires a lot of training)
Most likely feels aftereffects of the quirks he uses (although he may have other quirks that counteract those effects)
Part 3: The Gift of a Quirk
The only character we’ve seen AFO give a quirk was his brother, where he placed a hand on his head. It’s quite possible that there’s a distance or amount time involved in giving a quirk to someone. We’ve also seen quirks where the more info a user knows about a person the more effective their quirk will work (Toga Himiko). These could all be factors in AFO’s use, although there is little evidence to suggest these factors with the exception of distance required likely being physical touch, and possibly requiring a forehead touch.
Otherwise the important thing to think about in relation to giving a quirk is the effect on the person you’ve given it to.
All Might suggested that giving the quirk may have been to force his younger brother to submit (ch. 59). There’s a possibility with that statement and with the brain-dead Nomu’s and Shigaraki’s demeanor that this means that AFO giving a quirk to someone may mess with their brain in some way.
Tumblr media
However that argument is hard to make when you consider that passing on One For All doesn’t seem to mess with people’s brains, and that the most similar comparison would be Ragdoll’s stolen quirk, which didn’t seem to permanently mess up her brain either.
(Although I will say that my theory with the stockpiling quirk gift is that AFO realized that the stockpiling quirk would break his bones and thought that a painful quirk like that would subdue his brother, not realizing or not caring that you could counteract the breaking with a significant amount of training, and as we have established AFO is lazy af)
The existence of the Nomu may suggest a few other possibilities for gifting quirks. They may be made brain dead because AFO fears his underlings becoming too powerful, so he only gifts many numerous quirks to those who are under his complete control (i.e. brain dead Nomus, and a successor he trained and abused from a child age).
AFO gifting quirks may also steadily decrease brain function, or adding quirks may be traumatic enough that each additional quirk added makes a person less functional. In that case the creation of the Nomus would be necessary for AFO to be able to gift numerous quirks to someone else. There’s not really evidence to suggest or deny this, but worth mentioning.
Also worth mentioning that Shigaraki may or may not have ever been gifted a quirk from AFO, but I included him just in case he has.
So the conclusion of gifting quirks is that AFO:
May have to touch a person to gift a quirk, may have to touch them for an undetermined period of time
May cause brain problems when gifting a quirk or multiple quirks, or that most individuals have limitations on how many quirks they can possess
Or none of this could be true
Conclusions:
Basically AFO is super powerful, but is still a quirk that can have limitations or drawbacks just like every quirk we’ve seen. There’s not enough evidence to suggest any limitations conclusively, but there’s enough to question several different facets of AFO.
Woo that got way longer than intended for something so incredibly inconclusive! So have a smiling Izuku to thank you for getting all the way here!

Finished my third (and hopefully last) BNHA baby, Anthony~. I tried to copy the whole ref thing and failed horribly. 10/10 will never do again ;__;
Sorry for the low quality, I had to use freaking Google Slides for the text ;__;
She’s totally open for friends and such, so reblog if you’re interested

“If it wasn’t illegal, I’d have my birthday suit as my hero suit.”
name : Anthony DeLosReyes (
アンソニー・デロスレイズ)
nickname(s) : “Aunt Anthony”, “The Secret Weapon” (Neito) hero name : Inka age// birthday : 18 ll February 28th gender : female height // weight : 5'7 [172.72 cm] // 168lbs blood type : undetermined
nationality:  Venezuelan-American
class :  1-B (temporarily) / 3-A
██████ B A T T L E  // I N F O
quirk type : Blood Ink
quirk description :  Anthony’s quirk is a mutation of the illness hematidrosis. Hematidrosis, also referred to as blood sweat, is a rare condition in which a human being sweats blood. It is very rare, so it is not very understood. However, the blood sweat generally happens in times of fear and stress. With her quirk, it is the combination of her father’s excess blood quirk and her mother’s ink manipulation quirk. Her blood is a combination of red blood cells and specialized ink cells that she can control at will by drawing it out of her pores and manipulating it.
ability1: (Ink Typhoon)- Anthony wields her ink blood as a huge wave, drowning those in it. Can cause anemia.
ability2:  (Bullet Bonanza)- Combining her ink blood with keratin, she hardens it and shoot at her opponents. Very painful with strong chances of tearing of the skin.
ability3: (Ink Poisoning)- Blood Ink gets released as toxic gas, poisoning those in the area (up to 25 sq feet). Only available under times of intense stress when skin is heated enough. ability4: (Magenta Magic)- She can harden her blood and wield them as weapons such as gauntlets and bats. quirk drawbacks : This is a very unstable and dangerous quirk for its user, so if Anthony isn’t careful she may end up hospitalized from severe anemia. To use this quirk effectively, she has to keep a healthy workout regime and food palette with lots of nutrients as well as staying within a certain weight class. Stats:    power: [4/5] B    speed  [2/5] D    technique[3/5] C    intelligence [5/5] A    cooperativeness[5/5] A
██████ P E R S O N A L //  I N F O
personality :  Anthony, as described by most, is a very relaxed individual. There isn’t much that she’s particularly fazed by and often keeps up an air of optimism wherever she goes. She is also very hardworking and persistent in her goals. Despite growing up with a “literal IV needle in her arm” as she would describe it, it never stopped her from traveling overseas to become a hero.
likes : >>Spicy food. Everything needs spice- even lollipops. She refuses to eat one if it isn’t covered in chili flakes. >>Hair cuts. She prefers her hair short and loves the look of a fresh cut from time to time. >>Lighters. She doesn’t smoke or anything, but she is an avid collector of antique lighters. >>Music. Any in general, really. She has no real preference. Being naked. She’s very confident in her skin and wishes the world was the same way.
dislikes : >>Injustice. Only a villain would like that. >>Lazy, entitled people. She’s had to work hard to get to where she was today and she expects others to put in that same energy. >>…That’s about it, really. She’s fairly open-minded to things.
history : Anthony grew up as an only child to a biker father and a tattoo artist mother in New Mexico, America. Her quirk manifested at the very early age of two which made it very uncontrollable for those around her. She was often dehydrated and sick, often waking up to the horror of being in a pool of her own blood. She had to walk around with an IV needle in her at all times to keep her from passing out and was home schooled up until junior high where they felt she could control her quirk a little better. There, she was able to meet friends and develop the social life she never had growing up. She often hid her quirk and pretended to be quirkless for a while as to not freak anyone out for sweating literal ink blood. However, she drew inspiration from her favorite Japanese hero, Vlad King, whose blood manipulation quirk was similar to hers. Studying her favorite hero closely- she attempted time and time again to manipulate her quirk, mostly with damning results. She’d stay out in the school gym for longer nights as she trained herself to become a hero just like her idol. When she hit eighth grade, a huge opportunity had rise for her. Her school (which was a middle to high school) had recently developed the Hero Acceleration Program (or HAP). The HAP is an international program created for other schools to learn and replicate the same practices and experiences that are offered at Yuuei. A select amount of students are handpicked all over the world to be sent to Yuuei for free through this program and report their experiences back to their home countries. The requirements are that they are to have at least 200 hours of volunteer work, fluent in Japanese speech and writing, a GPA of 3.75, and have at least passed two AP Hero Courses with an A. They tend to pick out those from freshman to sophomore year and is automatically set up with an internship of their choice. Sacrificing the perks of high school life and social interaction, she dedicated herself to meet these requirements; studying kanji and spoken formal and informal Japanese, constantly doing volunteer work after school and on weekends, and loads of studying as well as physically training her body to its limits. She was able to fulfill all of the requirements by sophomore year, though there was one problem… her parents. They didn’t trust her to go overseas without them due to fear of her quirk taking over and killing her and them not being able to do anything about it so they held her back for another two years. Anthony trained harder, hard enough to prove to her parents that she can control it and that she was responsible enough to live out there on her own. She refined her Japanese, learned her social norms, and also lived her social life she never had the ability to years ago. They finally relented and flew her out to Japan where she attends Yuuei. There she met her childhood hero and got so emotional from the fact that he had accepted her to mentor. They set her back as an extra in 1-B so she can get used to how things worked in there for a semester. She wasn’t able to participate in the Sports Festival or the School Field Trip due to her HAP status in the school, but she participates in the training exercises and regular class time. During the duration of her time in 1-B, she took on the nickname “Aunt Anthony” due to her laid-back attitude and her tendency to play a secondary mentor to the others. Recently, due to her level of intelligence and quirk control, she was placed up to 3-A.

Sekijiro Kan
: Her biggest idol growing up as well as her mentor. They have a very father-daughter relationship that her actual father gets jealous of- but can’t really blame him. Kan often looks out for Anthony despite her class change and will do random checks with the teacher to make sure she doesn’t get too comfortable. The fact that she even interns under him is still surreal to her.
Pony Tsunotori
: She took a huge liking to Pony Tsunotori who shared her nationality as foreigners from America. They frequently speak to each other in English, Anthony teaching her a bit of Japanese to hopefully combat Neito’s influence on the poor girl.
Neito Monoma
: Neito’s crush is pretty one-sided, though he mostly shows it through passive-aggressively making jabs at her and other genuine mischief. He’s secretly happy that 1-B has a very capable student in their class that can probably rival majority of 1-A despite it all. Anthony knows this and continuously plays along in entertaining his crush, possibly even developing one for the sap.

1) Anthony is actually fluent in three languages: English, Spanish, and Japanese.
2) She managed to sucker her mom into tattooing her body as a parting gift before she left to Japan.
3) She was originally supposed to be shipped with Tetsutetsu (in which I have a fic that I may or may not post >u>)
4) She’s a nudist which is mainly why her costume shows so much skin. She uses overheating mainly as an excuse.
