The old Habits and Mitazono Mei.
In Rumiko sensei's captivating manga "MAO," we encounter the enigmatic Mei Mitazono(whose appearance strikingly resembles Kikyo from "Inuyasha). Mei is deeply entrenched in the world of the Gokou clan, a formidable and dread-inducing group within the story. Despite Onmyoji Mao's attempts to convince Mei to abandon her allegiance to the Gokou clan, I find myself feeling pessimistic about the likelihood of her changing sides.
The latest MAO chapter 228: 身内の情 Miuchi no jou(Family Ties) brings Kamon and Mei on their first tet-a-tet. And it's the first time ever the loyal to the Gokou,Mei,sees how are on people the dread results of the Hakou seed.
Mei and Kamon both admit that they have not seen people able to continue living in this state, and Mao silently hopes this will awaken Mei to understand how much Horrid is the Gokou Clan.
However I'm pessimistic about it! Old habits such as the feelings of Loyalty to the Gokou clan,and her frustration that she couldn’t save her father and her friends.

Furthermore, the Gokou clan exerts a significant influence over its members, likely using both fear and indoctrination to maintain control. Mei's loyalty isn't just a matter of personal choice,but also a survival strategy in a world filled with thugs being alike and the same to Onitake.Mei’s quest is motivated by Rage,Frustration and Perpetual Sadism.And full embracing the curse thing.She doesn’t sense She’s being under Shiranui’s manipulation. The clan's manipulation and control tactics would make it even harder for Mei to see a life beyond their influence.
Change and redumption require not just external persuasion but a profound internal shift.
While I would love to see Mei find freedom and forge her own destiny, the reality of her situation makes it difficult to remain optimistic. It serves as a poignant reminder of how complex and challenging personal transformations can be, especially when deeply embedded in powerful and manipulative structures.

My opinion may change at any moment, at the moment my opinion is that "MAO" new series by Rumiko Takahashi is MUCH BETTER than her previous shounen "Inu-Yasha". I mainly mean the main characters. Nanoka is the badass of MAO Queen. She wants to fight and she does. She doesn't want to be a burden, but she's weak(and she know it!), but she's more like a bodyguard than Mao. They really should switch roles. Nanoka is really nice and I like more than a certain 15-year-old girl in a green uniform. Nobody in advance considers Nanoka some kind of "kami-sama" like Kagome. Mao, Hyakka, Otoya will call out to her for things she is doing wrong or risking her life when it is dangerous for her. Nobody kisses her ass. What I personally like. Another plus of the story is that Nanoka and Mao love each other and protect each other and are partners. They are more supportive and the feelings are mutual and have grown over time. Nanoka didn't force anything, nor did she emotionally manipulate anything. They are equal. I like so much about this story. At the moment I like everyone, on the Kou clan I am neutral except this lady:

She's appears in Chapter 93
She takes my heart with each new chapter.
I love how Rumiko includes Kikyou in her works. She loves her and proves her by drawing her as other characters as if we met her other reincarnations, but in fact I know Rumiko likes Kikyou and shows it. Inuyasha will always have a special place in my heart, objectively looking at it. MAO is better.

Mitazono Mei easily captured Onitake,right there Maonoka arrive.Since Mao tells her that killing him isn’t worth it it’s her recounting a real chilling.
In chapter 126 She reveals to them her childhood:
Her father was a foreigner and Mom was Japanese.Her father brought her to the moternal village,the man was serious to introduce the Best of foreign farming methods.They remained in the village for ten years, working alongside the villagers to help the crops succeed as they never had before.
But one awful day the Onitake gang showed up in the village.
Mei saw her father get killed by them ,because he opposed to the horrid.polluting factory of Onitake. His order was a really Vicious,Killing along every opposing villager.
They were buried alive! Mei was captured by him,she would be his “toy” and then sold off.She ran away thanks to the kindness of a childhood friend(of the village).
While escaping, she fell from a cliff into the water and thought it was over, but Shiranui helped her by giving her spirit seed.
After this what followed?He trained her to manipulate plants,he also helped her track down the thugs that worked for Onitake;these are the men in the pit of the Garden of Life-Extension that she murdered.
Yes,in this occasion She got Revenge,albeit-
My Inference:
I comprehend her Tragedy.She wants to destroy people like Onitake. She’s frustrated that she couldn't save her father and her friends.The revenge didn't help her heal the pain,she’s is still in the dark,she has stooped to Sadism.”But we don’t see how this is adding troubles to the whole story”,you‘ll ask me the question.
Cause the Pit with Thugs constantly empowers the tormented Fire Bugs in Renji’s yueqin:The weapon for the assassinations on Gokou orders,something Maonoka oppose.

Yes,this Weird Sense about Maonoka’s Decision to save Mei.Indeed it’s Good this positive thinking,it’s Good to be Optimist.As long that it doesn’t have selfillusions.But it’s an Uneasy case when it comes to Mei Mitazono,with her Quest,motivated by Rage,Frustration and Perpetual Sadism.
How will Maonoka save her from her own Decision?What if even they’ll purify,eliminate the Spirit Seed but no Win?Yes,theit Noble move might meet Ingratitude(: “The surgery was fine,but alas the ailing passed way”.I paraphrase it to: “The ailing albeit saved turned to so much grouchy,Crabby”.
If Mei will prove being so Ungrateful,wanting to be a Curse User? Than it can’t be helped(: Haven’t we seen how did it go,with the treacherous Souma Kagami? We did.
“You worry so much about such dire possibility,albeit Mao and Nanoka don’t?”,you might tell me.I just want awareness about all sorts of possible scenarios:Either good,either bad.And being Prepared for troubles too(: And about the least bad news-if you can’t avoid bad results make sure it won’t be a Disaster.

Hi,Good new Week,Good new Month too. I'm Glad you like Nanoka chan. Yes,she's Badass,Royal to Mao and her Friends as well. I daresay She's Stronger than her first appearance,She's becoming a Formidable Fighter. Now to Mitazono Mei chan. Why does this so young,Beautiful girl work for Shiranui? I sense her smiles are genuine Kind. Would you like to hear my guess about her?
Hi. I wish you good weeks,weekends and month too! Thank you! I honestly like the female MC of the heroine Akane (Ranma 1/2), Sakura (Kyoukai no Rinne), now Nanoka (Mao). I haven't watched / read all of Rumiko's works, but i'm is not so hateful to women from Rumiko's world.Kagome is the only female MC character from Rumiko's world that I can't stand. I would like to clarify here, like something.Now I come back to the topic. I liked Nanoka from the beginning, but I was very skeptical because I was afraid that Rumiko would destroy her. She writes her really well and I am very positively surprised how Rumiko is writing her new shounen heroine. True, Nanoka has grown a little stronger than she started out. I love how she doesn't want to learn spells to become an exorcist like Mao, she prefers the sword and she feels good with sword in her hands than with spells :D. That's why I consider Nanoka more of a bodyguard than Mao,hehe:) Her loyalty is simply her great asset in my opinion and that she genuinely cares for them and is not afraid to protect herself, Mao and her friends. I love her interaction with Hyakka. I don't know why, but I see him as her "big brother".
Mei-chan... I find her smile insincere. I would like to see her full sincere smile and I hope that Rumiko will show us her smile someday. She is from the new generation of the Kou clan, so I believe that like Shirauni, she had to go through hell. I hope Rumiko will show us her story of how they did it with Shiranui and not leave as many questions as in "Inu-Yasha" where I think Kikyou is totally ignored by not showing her story in the manga.That's why I keep my fingers crossed for Mei-Chan.I find Mei a very mysterious character with interesting power.I honestly don't have any guess about her. Yes, I'd love to read yours
