Just look! OMG Emhyr is gorgeous in this piece, and in a style I always wanted to do, but couldn't even if I try.

another difficult choice because most of them I do talk with some regularity outside of tumblr or IG. So that one person on tumblr that I appreciate but do not talk on a regular basis is Mr @neil-gaiman, brilliant writer and amazing person. I've read/ watched his works, and my fave out of all his works is Mirrormask.

I'm gonna be turning 46 in a matter of days (Pisces baby!) and I think a lot about the future. When I was in my teens up to my late twenties, I have lots of dreams. But once I hit 30's, I seriously think about achievable dreams. I achieved some (becoming an artist, dabbling in writing, fulfilling life) others are left in the dust. There are still unchecked goals in my bucket list and I'd like to cross them out while Im still here in this lifetime.

hi, i have an odd question. is there a word for the style of art you do? i don't mean fanart. i mean that sort of blocky/cubist illustration style. do you know what i mean? is there a word for that style? thanks.
Hellooo! thanks for my first ask!
Well, if it does have a name I don’t know it, besides regular cubism. Maybe art deco? A lot of 1920s-1930s poster illustrations and Soviet illustrations will have that look. I do know it was a popular illustration trend in the late 90’s as well, kind of an art deco resurgence.
Not to be deterred by my ignorance, I have decided to make an unsolicited list! Here’s some current artists who work in that similar, cubist-y style.
Gary Kelley
Nice guy! You may know him from his Barnes and Noble mural.

Does a lot of nonfiction picture books for Flying Eye Books. Looks to be Influenced by Charley Harper, who the internet tells me is a “American Modernist” but I don’t think that’s what you were looking for.

Also I seem to remember that a bunch of word clip art and corporate illustrations from the late ‘90s did that similar style. Imagine a vignette of a guy in suit with a briefcase, running. Maybe paper is falling out of the briefcase and drifting behind him. For sure that’s one.
Whew! Maybe I’ll do a part 2 later, if there’s any demand for some olden days artists.
