Speaking from experience, more people in the Ranking of Kings fandom and a certain portion of the The Owl House fandom have been open to criticism than those in the Witch Hat Atelier fandom.
I don't think anyone has ever tried to defend Bosse and Miranjo or Toka's writing in regards to that matter in Ranking of Kings.
People accused me of supporting Belos' deeds when I described my issues with his treatment stemming from the erasure of the Wittebane lore in "Watching and Dreaming" of The Owl House. However, at least a sizeable number of people like @let-us-cultivate-our-garden understood my points and criticized things that I couldn't because of my lack of knowledge.
Fans of Witch Hat Atelier have dismissed and deflected my questions and tried to defend Shirahama's writing choices on TV Tropes, Discord, and Tumblr no matter how faulty their logic and assumptions might be. I will defend Qifrey and I like Tartah's early character arc about his disability and the Romonon arc too but none of those fans seemed to understand that you can like something and still apply a critical lens to it. I want to know why this series attracts so many people who refuse to see it from a critical lens.
What do you think it takes to be King?
So in my endeavours to watch some newer animes I stumbled upon Ranking of Kings after a friend recommend it to me and it kept popping up here and there, and I decided to give it a shot. It is not at all what I expected but I have zero regrets! It was such a beautiful and powerful anime and I was excited to draw the cast for it!
Daida marrying Miranjo, fuck me up so bad that i started reading the manga just to see if this bullshit makes sense in the manga, cause it didnt in the anime.
