This crack taken seriously rom com is an absolute delight. You will be giggling the entire time at this one.

Cas is stuck in a dead end reporter job at a failing station in the unfortunately or hilariously (depending on your level of middle school humor) named town of Uranus.

When Cas' cat gets stuck in a tree, his panicked call results in the fire department (and half of emergency services) showing up - including his wet-dream-slash-crush Dean Winchester. He recognizes Dean from a charity calendar, and he may be just a smidge obsessed with him. Like owns a bunch of merch with his picture obsessed. But what he doesn’t know is Dean also has a massive crush on Castiel. Like an embarrassing, watch DVR recordings of the man over and over crush. Dean manages to get it together enough to ask Cas to report on a public safety measure and what follows is a very public and adorable courtship that just might save the station.

Expect mutual disaster idiots, lots and lots of humor and a delightful cast of residents. But also this fic has an underlying softness that will have you unable to put it down. Also, a developing friendship between Balthazar, Gabriel and Crowley that is the best thing that has happened to me personally in a long time.

Seriously, it's a delight.

Look, fleeceframe has this incredible ability to write gorgeous, gentle stories that take apart your heart like a 500 piece puzzle and put it back together. This one is both particularly soft and particularly beautiful.

A fairytale AU, this tells the story of Cas, a shy and lonely honey merchant who falls in love with one of the Swans, local celebrities, who as a result of a curse, turn into swans. There are wings. There is gorgeous worldbuilding. But most importantly, there is just this gorgeous love story between two very lonely men who feel invisible.

They don't just accept each other, they cherish each other. It’s gorgeous.

The Handyman's Special by Carrieosity @carrieosity (Explicit, 51k)

If you want a good laugh, this is the fic for you. I was cracking up the ENTIRE time.

Dean, a professor with minimal construction experience and a shoddy home inspection, buys a fixer upper that's more like a money pit. But he can’t face the "I told you so" from Sam, so he hires a contractor in secret. And then to keep that secret, he lies and says the contractor, Cas, is his boyfriend.

What follows is a disaster-Dean rom com with a lot of heart. The angst never gets too angsty. It's fun and sweet and hilarious.

Too Hot To Hunt by Englandwouldfall (Teen, 19k)

A canon fix-it case fic that reverses the fuck or die trope. Dean and Cas encounter a monster that attacks couples during intimacy. Which means two things: 1. Dean has to reveal to his brother that he and Cas have been an item since he came back, and 2. Dean and Cas may have to use their words instead of hiding behind sexual intimacy. So that’s not awkward at all.

This one is just immensely satisfying, digging into all of the things that make Dean and Cas so bad at communicating. It's soft, awkward, and mildly angsty in the best way.

Jurassicatural by anyrei and queerwerewolf @anyreiart @queerwerewolf @the-real-anywolf (Explicit, 34k)

A delightful mashup of Jurassic Park and SPN, this one is just really fun. Chuck Shurley had created a new theme park for long extinct monsters, but his investors have one requirement before opening: sign-off from experts on the creatures.

Enter the Winchester brothers, a Paleontologist and Paleobotanist, and Dr. Cas Novak, Historian. But life finds a way and so does trouble.

In addition to just being fun, this one features an instant obsession between Destiel that is really fun to watch, a delightfully moody Claire, a sunny Jack and some really fun monsters.

Fata morgana by orange_crushed (Teen, 6.6k)

This is a short read but woof. It really packs a punch. A canon adjacent story in Hell told from the perspective of Bela Talbot, it's the kind of fic that will make you want to munch on the shower door.

There's an angel in Hell and Bela is going to find him. The angel? Cas seeking out Dean, the King of Hell.

This one plays with the lore in an extremely satisfying way. It's justice for Bela, though not in a saccharine sweet way, and also some really lovely Cas stuff.

A Demon Like Him by EllenOfOz @ellen-of-oz (Explicit, 24k)

If you are looking for some fun worldbuilding, this fic has you. Set in a world powered by magic, Dean is on the cusp of graduating and becoming a warlock. It's everything his father has ever wanted…and now he has to admit nothing he actually wants. Dean is determined to fail the final exam - to summon and bind himself to a demon - so that he can finally be free. Unfortunately for Dean, he fails at failing and instead summons an incubus, Castiel.

This one has some gorgeous nods to canon and it's simply a fun, sizzling read. The angst isn't too angsty. Cas is basically a sex God. It’s good, dirty fun. On top of that, Dean and Cas have some absolutely gorgeous soft moments.

Dark Side of the Moon by imogenbynight @thevioletcaptain (Mature, 37k)

An astronaut AU similar in some aspects to the Martian: after Dean's crew is killed in an accident on the moon, he's left alone and traumatized. Cas volunteers to help retrieve him, but can they make it in time and what will they find when they get there?

This one has a nice balance of horror elements, trauma, and humor. It also has just really likeable cast of characters. Even though you know it will all end well, there are some delightfully tense moments and the immediate bond between Cas and Dean is a delight.

Synopsis: Mashup between the anime Tokyo Ghoul and SCM. The reader is a ghoul, intent on keeping their secret from their loving boyfriend. But he's a god, so what are you going to do when he eventually finds out what you are?

A/N: Tokyo Ghoul mashup with the 12 boyfriends! I saw this as a request lost in Tumblr somewhere but the author didn't know Tokyo Ghoul so I decided to bring this into the world since I've watched a season of Tokyo Ghoul. I'm working really hard on the other requests that I have too. 🙏🏻

♌️LEON: You got rid of this man's sin before he even came close to finding out what you were. Could you imagine Leon, the great wild lion of the Heavens being terrified? Well, he was. But, not of you. You see, it came as a shock to him. You were visiting the Heavens one day per his request, though you had to wait for him with Karno. So you hung out outside of the Department of Wishes. How much trouble could one goldfish get into if Karno went off to do one errand? A lot. No one would have expected you to be swarmed with gods and goddesses in five minutes. They were just curious, too. damn. curious. You had no choice but to whip out your kagune to ward off the gods. Of course, they called you a demon before running off frightened. You had no idea Leon was nearby and just about to interfere for you, so you were left speechless at the look of absolute terror on his face when he saw you. You couldn't process that his fear wasn't about how terrifying you were. He was scared that you were hurt, that you were cursed, that something was wrong that he wouldn't be able to fix. He had no idea. "Leo..." "What happened..." He didn't know how to ask. Gone was his unwavering charm and confidence. You felt immensely guilty at breaking your boyfriend's mind like that. "I'm... a ghoul." Immediately your kagune vanished like they were never there and your eyes were back to normal as you refused to look at him. "I'm sorry." Suddenly, he understood. He did hear of ghouls before. He just never would have imagined his own goldfish would be one. He felt like he was looking at you with new eyes; he was meeting the real you for the first time. "Don't hide. Don't look away from me. Stop apologizing. I should apologize for not understanding. You were afraid of what I would think of you. I never meant to give you the impression that you had to hide from me. When I told you I loved you, I meant all of you. Now, come here. You don't think you're going to get away with hiding yourself from me, do you?"

♋️KARNO: He knew what you were without you needing to tell him. He used to watch you all the time as a kid- not... not in a creepy way. But he knew about your little condition. You, on the other hand, had no idea of his knowledge, which he thought was mildly amusing. You were excellent at hiding your true self so that not even the other gods knew. But Karno baffled you. Every time a god would offer food or a drink to you, Karno was always there to step in, declining the food for you. He even did this to your human friends, which made you grateful to have a boyfriend like him. But still, you didn't tell him a word and you continued hiding your secret. Karno tried to get you to expose yourself multiple times, but his efforts were fruitless. Eventually, he simply asked you on a date. He was going to get you to admit it to him. He wanted to hear the truth from your precious lips. After you refused to eat with him, he finally called you out due to his growing impatience, "Won't you tell me the truth? Wouldn't that make this all easier for you?" You were speechless for a moment and you tried desperately to give him your excuses before you noticed the look on his face. That godly bastard... "You knew! You knew! This entire time... You knew what I was. Karno... you never told-" "No," He interrupted, "You never told me. I wanted you to trust me and tell me on your own. You said you loved me, but then you couldn't trust me." Those words were your breaking point. The truth came out like a torrent of water and Karno realized the real truth behind your hidden identity, "Because I was afraid you wouldn't love me! I love you so much... I didn't want that to end... I didn't want you to see a monster..." "I don't care what you look like. You, your ghoul form, I love it all. When I look at you all I can see is my goddess. You're my goddess. I love every side of you. I love you. So, please, trust me. Trust my love. Do you believe me? Let's go on a real date. We can do anything you like."

♉️TEORUS: He was one of the gods that didn't know what you were at all before you started dating and was terrified to find out when Karno spilled the beans. They all thought you would have told Teorus by now. You ate people?! You were such a cute goldfish and you ate people! Actual humans! The poor guy was certain you were going to eat him too and the others felt guilty for making Teorus scared of you like that. In truth, it made you extremely sad. Teo was supposed to be your boyfriend, but boyfriends weren't supposed to be scared of their significant other. He seemed so tense and startled every time you were in the same room- especially when you were both alone. You were very good at reading fear from people, it was something you were used to seeing. You had to address Teo about it before it was too late to salvage your relationship. "Teorus..." How did you say this without crying? You were already tearing up. "We need to talk." Teo seemed torn at how upset you were. He was naturally afraid of you, but how could he be afraid of a goldfish that looked on the brink of breaking? "O- Okay... Are you okay? You look really upset." "Do you hate me?!" Teo was surprised as the tears started and you broke down in front of him. The sight was almost enough to make him cry as well. Surely you weren't a monster like they said? You were so fragile. Regardless, he loved you, didn't he? Of course, he did. "No! I love you, (Name)!" "Then why are you so afraid of me?! I love you but sometimes you can't even look at me! I'm trying so hard but... I don't understand... Did... they tell you? They found out and told you didn't they? You hate me because I'm a killer. I'm a monster. I'm a murderer. I'm a-" "Stop, no! Stop saying that!" You truly had to stop your weeping as Teorus wrapped his arms around you. It had been a while since you felt his strong arms around you. "I do love you! You're not a monster! I was afraid because I didn't understand what you were, but... you're no different. You're not scary. You're just a scared goldfish and that's why you never told me. I thought you were hiding it from me because you had some kind of ulterior motive but you don't. You never asked for this. I'm sorry I've been treating you like this. I never should have been treating someone I love like this... I promise I'll always love you. You'll always be my goldfish."

♑️ AIGONORUS: You didn't mean for him to find out, but how could you have known he was in your house when you were having dinner? You were just enjoying a relaxing meal with all of your windows closed, not expecting company. Aigonorus was sleeping on your sofa, not realizing you were home either. The sound of rustling was what woke him up, to begin with. When he first sat up and saw a figure sitting at your table, he blinked for a moment. Were those wings? They looked so weird. He rubbed his eyes and laid down again for a moment. What kind of weird dream was he having? This was new... He'd never seen anything like that in your apartment. He blinked and sat up again, peering over at the table. Whatever was sitting there was eating something. But why was it in your house? His eyes widened as he peered over your shoulder to see who you were. But his eyes landed on your plate and his startled step back ended up knocking over your lamp, making you jump to attention preparing to jump on whoever broke in. But your eyes widened similar to his and you froze in place. "A- Aigo?" You were both still until his face scrunched up in confusion. "(Name)? What are you doing?" How did you answer him? He was watching you expectantly, but he otherwise didn't seem afraid or angry. He was just... confused. "I- I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here... I didn't want you to see me like this. I'm... a ghoul." He'd heard ghouls mentioned in the department before but he never expected to meet one. What exactly did that mean though? You weren't human? He didn't understand. As long as you didn't eat him, he didn't see a problem with it. "I'm sorry for showing up without telling you. It's my fault you can't look at me right now. But I don't mind if you're a ghoul. Um... This doesn't mean you're leaving me, right? I still love you. I'd be sad if you left because you thought you were bad. You might be different from normal humans but you're still my goldfish. I'll never let go of you. I'll protect you."

♒️HUEDHAUT: His first reaction was shocked. But he had it all figured out in the time that you got to know each other. You were a ghoul. He knew enough about them to know what kind of diet you were on. But he was surprised that you were a ghoul. He couldn't tell at first, but after connecting the dots it seemed so obvious. You never ate normal food with the rest of them and you would only ever join them for drinks if it was coffee. He should have seen this sooner. Why didn't you ever tell him? Smart as he was, he didn't know how to bring it up without hurting you. He knew for a fact this couldn't be brought up with the other gods unless you consented to it. You thought you were doing well enough at hiding what you were. You might not have eaten with them, but you drank coffee with them and tried to act as normal as possible. Still, you were dating Huedhaut and you had never told him your secret. The guilt was eating at you, and Hue seemed like he was getting worried over how stressed you were. "Hue... Can we talk? It's important... Please, don't get mad..." "I won't be mad, (Name). I'm glad you're sharing your feelings with me and not bottling them up." He was being completely honest with you, but it didn't help how nervous you were. What if he thought you were evil? "I wanted to tell you, but I was so afraid of what you'd think. I'm just... not a human." He wasn't looking at you any differently than before. He was being completely patient with you while you struggled to tell him the truth. You looked up as his hand encompassed yours. "No matter what you are, you're still the goldfish I love. So please, don't be so hard on yourself." You felt guilty at his kind words, rubbing his hands gently with your fingers. "You'd love a nasty ghoul?" His soft smile never left as he caressed your cheek, angling your head up so he could see your black and red eyes that looked so tortured. "You're not nasty. Don't you listen to me when I talk? We're going to have to fix that. Pay attention. I love you. You should expect the smartest god in the Heavens to know what a ghoul is so don't worry that I'm making a mistake. I know exactly who I've fallen in love with and I won't be taking it back any time soon. I'm keeping you with me and I'm going to make sure that there's nothing bad you can say about yourself."

♐️ TAUXOULOUVE: Lou was under the impression you were a normal human. He spent weeks guarding you, after all. You spent months helping the other gods with their sins and nothing seemed off. He was still guarding you when he first found out. Karno already seemed to know what was wrong with you, so when you asked for Karno to give you food and be left alone in your room, Karno was the one to take care of you. Why couldn't you trust your own guard with such a thing? You were the one who asked Lou to guard you. He was desperate for answers. Evidently, there was something you were hiding that you felt only Karno could know. But if you two were going to be a thing, then he couldn't sit idly by while another man was taking care of you. It was a bit of a surprise when he opened your door after your meal one night. His eyes were extremely wide at the sight of you. He was in love all over again. The colors of your kagune were absolutely beautiful and your eyes practically glowed. Another human would have thought you were terrifying, but he thought you were absolutely majestic. Your diet was questionable... But he knew it was just part of who you were. "EEK- L- Lou?! What are you doing? Why are you here? This is- I- I'm sorry..." You were frightened, that much was obvious, but his smile only helped so much. "I was worried about you. You wanted to spend time alone but then Karno always followed you to your room. I was jealous. That's not really fair for you to do that to me considering how much I love you. But you were just worried about me seeing you as a ghoul, weren't you? But it's okay. You look beautiful. In fact, I could think of a way you could make it up to me. Would you let me paint you?"

♎️ZYGLAVIS: You were expecting this man to be enraged if he were to ever find out what you were. You were a monster that killed humans. Ironically, you were never punished for it, and you were terrified that karma was going to come after you any day now. There was a reason for your lack of punishment, but you were so scared of Zyglavis that any explanation would entirely miss you. Upon finding out what you were, you were like a deer in the headlights. Your eyes were wide and full of tears, expecting him to be overly harsh with you. "I- I'm sorry... I didn't mean to be a ghoul... It's not my fault, I'm just-" Zyglavis was kind enough to take your shaking hand and sit you down and explain why you were going to be okay. Ghouls worked similarly to humans in the eyes of the punishments gods. The way humans could be pawns in another human's punishment was the same for ghouls. If a human needed intense punishment then a ghoul could be in a certain place at a certain time to rid the Earth of unnecessary humans. Still, you were uncomfortable and he caressed your cheeks, trying to make you feel safe around him. "Please, don't be afraid of me. I understand you didn't ask to be born as you are. Simply living isn't a punishable offense. I'm unsure if it's because you have the soul of the goddess of fate, but you are the loveliest ghoul I've had the pleasure of meeting. I would be honored if you would allow me to continue guarding you. I won't allow another soul to harm you."

♏️SCORPIO: It was love at first sight- well, that's pushing it. Scorpio thought you were a filthy human for the longest time. He was certain you couldn't take care of yourself, thinking you were as greedy and selfish as all the other humans he's known. But when you were kidnapped from under his nose and forced to show your true form to save your life and save Scorpio from committing another sin, then it was love at first sight. Scorpio loved ghouls, even as a God. He hadn't seen one in a long time and you were absolutely beautiful. You were a natural predator of humans. When he was a human- though he had a reason to fear ghouls- he wished he could have been a ghoul. Not only would he have been able to get rid of human filth, but he would have been able to eat all who had done him wrong. You didn't even have time to be afraid of being caught as you were with your kagune out and your eyes completely different colors than usual. But one thing you were honestly afraid of was Scorpio himself. His admiration for what you were was almost terrifying. But... At least he didn't hate you... Right? "Tch... Stupid woman. I thought you were some idiot human this whole time. Why didn't you bother telling me what the hell you were?! Don't give me that bullshit that you were scared or ashamed of yourself! You're a ghoul. I love that. I'm a god now, so I'd never be able to be what you are. But you're my ghoul and I don't care what anyone else has to say about it. Damn it... I love you."

♓️ICHTHYS: Why should you have had any expectations that this guy understood was personal space was? He begged you nearly every time he saw you, but your answer was always the same. "Ichthys, I don't want to be used in your pranks..." "But it would be great! Imagine it! The other gods would be terrified if you-" No. You absolutely refused his plans. You declined Ichthys every time he asked to use your ghoul form to scare the other gods. It made you sad to think they would be so frightened of you and you didn't want to add any unnecessary fear to whatever they were already feeling towards you. You were so bummed that they knew what kind of monster you were, but they never said anything so you just assumed they resented you in silence. You really did regret telling them what you were. But Ichthys wasn't finished with you. He was still on your case as usual. "Hey, come to the living room! I have a surprise for you!" You sighed. It was his usual antics. "If it has anything to do with me being a ghoul then I'm not going." "Wha? Why?!" He wasn't prepared for you to face him with tears in your eyes while you finally expressed how you felt. "I don't want to be a scary monster! The other gods don't talk to me as it is! It's understandable, look at me! But you... you keep doing this to me. Why do you keep hurting my feelings like this?!" "You... never told me you felt like this." He spoke quietly, surprising you by taking you into his arms. "We don't hate you, and you're not scary. I think you look really cool. I wish you would have said something. I feel really bad for making you feel like that. But you look like you need a secret. Do you want to know why the other gods weren't talking to you? It's not because you're a ghoul. We were planning a party for you to make you feel better! We really care about you. I- I love you. I always want to make you happy."

♊️DUI: He was really the kindest god you've ever met. It didn't take you long to tell him what you were after you started dating. I mean, you met Shadow Dui and realized that he would understand if you had a different side of you that you were self-conscious of. It turned out that he didn't mind at all. In fact, he would have helped you with what you needed as a ghoul if he hadn't found out that it would be a difficult task. You learned quickly that having your food in front of Dui was out of the question. Of course, you should have known better. Shadow Dui always comes out when blood is involved- and he was someone who wasn't aware of what a ghoul was. "UGH. Who the hell put this in here?! What the hell is this? It's gonna make me freaking sick." "Shadow...?" His narrowed eyes turned to you and it was confirmed that this wasn't Dui you were dealing with, but his other personality. "I just sent Dui over for his cherries... Maybe you should go sit down for a bit." You reached into the fridge, grabbing the cherries before returning to making the pie. Your lack of attention to the bowl of red meat triggered him. "What the hell? Didn't you see what was in there? Did you do that to prank me?!" "Um..." He looked like he genuinely had no idea what you were and you wondered if he and Dui ever discussed it. It made you nervous to have to reintroduce yourself to your boyfriend. "That's my lunch... I'm a ghoul. I thought you knew... I'm sorry. I didn't like talking about it. I look really weird." You hated that he wanted to see your ghoul form, but Shadow hadn't seen it yet and you were pleased with his expression. "Woah. What the hell are these? They're huge. Can you fly?" "Ah, no. They're my kagune-" "Can I touch them?" "Er, oka- ah-" He didn't react at all as Dui did. Dui was freaked out at first. Shadow was on top of you, squishing your cheeks in his hand. "Don't you dare tell me you look freaking weird again. I love your kagune. And look at your freaking eyes. They almost look like a night sky with your beautiful stars shining in there. What the hell?! Was that goodie-two-shoes just letting you say all this crap about yourself?! Idiot... He freaking loves you, but I love you too."

♈️KRIOFF: You weren't at all as weak as Krioff thought you were. He kept you locked in his room for weeks not knowing you didn't need to be under house arrest. The gods that got their marks removed knew what you were, but Krioff didn't know until an accident in the courtyard. A couple of gods angered him to the point where he was catching everything on fire. Dui was there with you, but he couldn't fight Krioff's godly powers. Backed into a corner, you finally decided to protect yourself and Dui with your kagune. The fire burned your kagune and it only took your pain to get Krioff to understand the harm he was causing. He hurt you and he didn't know how to fix it. "Don't worry about it. I was just trying to protect Dui. I'll heal. It'll just take a bit." "You shouldn't have to be protecting anyone. It's my job to protect you... And I'm doing a horrible job. I have to do better for you." That was when he first found out what you were and he didn't know what to think other than how strong you were to fight his flames like that. It was only after he was done protecting you and you saved his life that you sat down and spoke about each other. It finally brought him to light that you were very similar people. You had weird powers that you were afraid of because you were blamed for hurting innocent people too. He thought it was weird that you weren't a normal goldfish, but it wasn't his biggest concern. "I guess I just didn't think I'd have anything in common with a goldfish. You're different and everyone, including yourself, is hard on you. I think you're really strong, stronger than me. You told me you're afraid of yourself, but you use your ghoul form for good. You protected yourself and Dui from me. I... admire you- no... I love you. I can only be strong as long as you're here with me. You're the only person I know who would hold my right hand like that."

♍️PARTHENO: This man was shocked when he found out. He tried to take you to the Under Realm with him but your kagune burst out and had him and the two dark gods from the Under Realm on the ground before he could even blink. Were you a demon too?! Oh? No? You were just a ghoul? He was certain those were some human-demon hybrids, but he wasn't displeased with you. He was completely amazed by you. You were like him. You didn't belong around other humans and you certainly didn't belong in the Heavens, yet, even as you were, you still found yourself a place with the Zodiac gods. Partheno thought you were beautiful, soul and all. "Partheno?" The dark gods were out of commission leaving just you and Partheno but he looked like he was going to fall apart at any moment. His body was literally flaking into the wind. "Ah, I didn't hit you that hard!" "Demons aren't supposed to feel... love. After realizing my powers didn't work on you... You care about me, don't you? Genuinely. I guess I couldn't resist falling in love with you... It looks like the Heavens got what they wanted." "I didn't get what I wanted!" This demon may have wanted to sacrifice you for evil deeds, but... Didn't the fact that he was dying mean something? You used your kagune to get back to the palace with Partheno, though the other gods were in a panic with your sudden arrival after having been missing. You did care about Partheno, and sharing those feelings, the King decided to grant Partheno God-hood, allowing you to be together. Ever since that day, he was always admiring you, full of respect and love for you. "Those stunning eyes are so unique. Oh? All ghouls have those kinds of eyes? Honey, you're the only ghoul with stars in your eyes, you should know this. That makes you an absolutely precious ghoul. My little goddess. I love you so much. I'm so lucky I have you. The other gods must be jealous that I have someone as perfect as you all to myself. Well, I'm never going to let you go."
