Sera, Jingu, & Kazama - The Tojo Clan Secret [RGGO]
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 / Part 6 .
This month’s RGG Online event features Third Chairman Sera and the 10 Billion Yen. The gameplay is different from recent events, because it’s in the style of a boardgame.
Tumblr media
It feels just like playing Judgment’s Dice & Cube (except I actually enjoyed playing this :V ). I have to admit, at first I was pretty meh towards Sera, but after going around the board 12 times (1 per chapter) and getting to level up my cards with him, I’ve gotten a bit fond of this dude :D
I’m going to be translating the chapters over the next few days/weeks, but it might be slow-going with a hundred screenshots of dialogue per chapter >_< Fair warning: I’m doing this armed with nothing but Google Translate, crude knowledge of Japanese, context clues, and paraphrasing especially when it comes to minor character dialogue and fights (the last one is more to save space and spare my fingers from typing everything out lol). But I’ll try to stay as accurate as I can!
Click on for the Prologue + Sera’s Side Comments!
.
Sera’s Side Comments
During the course of the game, Sera comments on various things and people every time he lands on a box.
Tumblr media
Sera’s comments on objects:
Insect Card? – “The child dropped something, so I picked it up. ?! This obscene illustration . . . ?! I should get Headquarters to investigate.”
Clothes – “I used to wear a white suit. It was hard work trying to remove blood.”
Magical stone [in-game item] – “Living in such a severe world, sometimes I want to cling to the thought of magic. Will this stone bring me something?”
Movie watching – “‘I’ll leave this in the hands of Headquarters.' The protagonist is very decisive. I should be like that.”
Nikkyo Consortium – “The iron rule is to conceal your identity when doing dirty work. Therefore, the subordinates wear Noh masks and dress as women. Everything is for work. It is true.”
Sera’s comments on people: (these ones were harder to make sense of)
Nishikiyama Akira – “A dangerous man. He is rushing to the top as if he has been led awry. What do you think, Kazama-san?”
Shimano Futoshi – “A proud man. But his ambition is exposed by his temper, which does not kill him. . . . heh. It’s easy to understand, and I don’t hate it.”
Kashiwagi Osamu – “There is word of a man named Kashiwagi here in Kamurocho, but I haven’t seen him around.”
Majima Goro – “He was like a dog with a collar on him, but a very strange person . . .”
Kiryu Kazuma – “ This man has became powerful like no one expected . . . Never thought this type of man would come from Kazama-san, makes me want to believe in destiny.” (thanks @potato-claudia for the translation!)

PROLOGUE
|1988. Chairman of the Nikkyo Consortium, Sera Masaru, wins a stake in the "Empty Lot" conflict. As a result, Sera rose to the top of the Tojo Clan and became the Third Chairman.|
Tumblr media
[Tojo HQ - Chairman’s Office]
Kazama: "I'll be looking forward to working with you in the future . . . Third Chairman."
Sera: "I will serve as sincerely as I can."
Kazama: "What would you like to do with the Tojo Clan?"
Sera: ". . . I'm not originally under Tojo. Former criminals of crushed student movements . . . they have no place in this society. The one who gave me a place is you, Kazama-san, you and . . . the Tojo Clan. Because of that, I want to give the underdogs of the next generation a place within the Tojo Clan. That is all."
Kazama: "It seems I made the right decision in pushing you to be the Third Chairman."
Sera: "Thank you. I will continue to help you in any way I can, Kazama-san.”
----
|That night . . .|
Tumblr media
[Idk where this place is supposed to be, but I’ll just call it Tea Room from now on because it looks like the place where Yayoi hangs out at Tojo HQ]
Jingu: "Drink some more, Sera. No, should it be 'Third Chairman'?"
Sera: "Heh. Don't say anything that's not in your heart. 'Sera' is fine."
Jingu: "Heh, that's right. With this . . . we are one step closer to our dreams."
Sera: "You in politics at the front, me the head of the yakuza at the back, both of us rising to the top."
Jingu: “And we will support this country together from the front and back.”
Sera: “Oh. I see you are active as a politician.”
Jingu: “I am. However . . . I’ve been involved in some trouble recently.”
Sera: “Trouble?”
Jingu: “To tell you the truth, I came here hoping to request something from you.”
Sera: “What is it, collecting votes?”
Jingu: “No, this isn’t going to happen without violence. It’s going to be rough.”
Sera: “What do you mean?”
Jingu: “I want you to get some money back. The future of Tojo . . . no, the cost of the future of this country is 10 billion yen.”
Sera: “10 billion . . . ?”

Okay, so first off, Happy Birthday to your cat!  I hope he got lots of his favorite treats.  Glad to hear that today went as well as can be hoped for you.  And overall today wasn’t too bad here.  We got several big truck deliveries, but when I deal with those I tend to deal less with customers, so it sort of balances itself out.  We’ve been told that we’ll be closing early all week because of the protests, so that’s been ramping the anxiety, but the internet has provided a number of pleasant distractions on my breaks.
Secondly, I would pick Noah for the one that has the second set of twins, for mainly two random reasons; 1) because last time it went Chris, then Noah, so it feels like it should do the same this time, and Chris already had Ben, 2) because it keeps the number of kids per family more balanced- 4 & 3 rather than 2 & 5.  Idk, my brain just gets weird about symmetry and balance in things and I’ve never figured out if it’s an ADD related thing or just a me thing.  Also, the idea of him trying to do his job while pregnant, with Chris and ESPECIALLY Peter trying to be super protective at the same time is just amusing to me.
And actually, thinking about that and the preview for the next chapter made me think of a couple things that didn’t make it into my reviews.  When/how/from whom did Chris learn about the fire? Did Gerard or Kate tell him in a gloating sort of way and kind of tip him off that something was hinky about it, or was it through other hunter contacts, so the thought of outside involvement came later?
Was he still pregnant with Ben, or was it later on?  Did he contact anyone in Beacon Hills about it for further info at any point before he showed back up in town?  Because I was trying to think about some of the things that could turn up later for angst (why I was doing that to myself is anyone’s guess, but here we are…) and it occurred to me that if Noah was going to have any lingering upset over Chris leaving it would most likely (to me) be from the time right after the fire.
He’s just lost Claudia, and went off the rails from it, but at least he had Peter, and Laura, and the other Hales.  Now Peter is in a coma, Laura’s left town, and the rest of his adopted/found family is dead.  He has no idea where Chris is, or if he’s safe from whoever did this (does he know about what happened between Chris and Peter before Chris left again?, and he’s dealing a set of even more heavily traumatized twins right now.  I feel like even the most understanding person is gonna have some stuff to work through there.  (Also, Jesus, poor Melissa [possibly for multiple reasons])
Uhhh…sorry to send things into a drama tailspin there for a moment.  Allow me to try and brighten things back up with the original impetus for me to make this a submission and not an ask; because you mentioned X-Men Halloween costumes and I have Thoughts.  *takes super deep breath*  Because omg, yes, so very many options.
Side note - I would be so happy if someone dressed as Nightcrawler.  He is my precious fuzzy elfin bb, and I love him to bits and get so tired of him getting left out of things (looking at you Funko.)  I feel like Stiles or Peter have the best attitude match (maybe, MAYBE Jackson), but don’t know if anyone would want to deal with the amount of makeup involved.  But, anyway, just, the possibilities.
Stiles telling Malia she can’t just take the easy way out by going as Wolfsbane, so she takes one of her old white A New Hope Leia dresses and cuts it down into an old school Mystique costume.
Peter pulling rank and telling Derek he’s the Alpha so he gets to be Wolverine (this even works better height-wise [I didn’t realize you didn’t know their approximate heights.  I’d looked them up before for…reasons.  Having seen them standing next to each other repeatedly, I’m pretty sure any actual height advantage Ian has comes strictly from his hair], although when Stiles points this out he earns himself a hell of a glare.)
Naturally that means Chris has to be Cyclops, because, well, calm and serious.  Noah realizes this means they expect him to be Jean Grey.  (N: “Why can’t I ever be a character that wears normal pants?!” C: “Well I have to be the boring one all the time” P: “I mean, you are the closest to a telepath of the three of us.  Don’t you want us mock fighting over you?” N: “…if we do this I get my pick of the Phoenix costumes.”)
Stiles and Noah trying to fight over getting to be Gambit so they can do exploding playing cards, but getting told they can’t be Gambit unless they can do the accent correctly (Gambit isn’t Gambit if he’s not Cajun, that’s just how it is, I don’t make the rules.)  While part of me thinks it’d be funny to see Jackson as Nightcrawler because of the tail thing, I think Stiles would be more entertaining.
He’d make little smoke bomb things to fake the sulfur and brimstone effect of his teleporting.  All the family members with enhanced senses would HATE him because they STANK something fierce, and it LINGERED.  But anytime one of them tried to tackle him to get them away, he’d yell “BAMF!” throw on to the floor and run like hell.
Jackson would be Iceman so he could make it a crossover costume with the character from Top Gun so he could wear aviators and a leather bomber with his outfit.  Allison could dress like Shadowcat from the early Excalibur run, and she could see if Ben would dress up as Lockheed with her (because that would be adorable).
Derek would decide that if he can’t be Wolverine and glare angrily at people the whole time, he’ll be Colossus so he can just stare with silent disappointment the whole time.  Scott would decide he wants to be Cable (because “…he just looks so cool…”), so Melissa and Chris would dig through their old hunter gear to help him make his costume.
Melissa could be Jubilee, and rig up little flash bangs to fake the plasma bursts (unlike Noah she has absolutely no qualms about proving that she can still rock a pair of short shorts.)  Lydia would either be Rogue to show off that SHE at least can manage a believable accent, or Emma Frost for the looks that costume would gain her from Allison.
Alternatively; both sets of twins argue over who gets to be Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, so they decide that one pair will do the classic comic version, and one will do either the Evolution cartoon version or the MCU version (though they are allowed to switch out the Quicksilver for the other film version if they choose).
Lydia claims Mystique instead (it’s tempting to make her Banshee, but that seems a bit TOO on the nose), or maybe one of the other Phoenix looks (when I say Phoenix looks I mean Jean’s Phoenix or Dark Phoenix suit from the comics, because I LOVE that outfit), and Ben dresses as Beast (because that would also be adorable).  *finally stops to take another breath*  …umm…so anyway, yeah, as a perennial X-men fan I think it’s safe to say I love this idea, and am so grateful for you putting it in my head…  …sorry about the wall of text, I may have got a little carried away…  …again…
I loved every single sentence of this wall of text, so never apologize. (Although I did break it up a little before posting because that makes it easier to read for other people.
I think all of my ideas for the middle of this fic where either based on questions you, or @artemisa97 asked me in reviews. So honestly, keep them coming if you want to ask them. They help me determine where the problem areas are, what kind of kinks I need to work out, so honestly, even the sad ones are a great help.
And yeah, I hadn’t looked up their heights yet, I just assumed Peter and Chris were a bit bigger than Noah, but I was delightfully wrong!
I do have one more gem to share, a height comparison of some of the boys and to show you just how tiny Ben is compared to the others.
Tumblr media
Blue - Noah (182 cm / 6 ft)
Purple - Chris (177 cm / 5′10)
Red - Peter (178 cm / 5′10)
Yellow - Derek (183 cm / 6 ft)
Green - Ben (111 cm / 3′8)
Turquoise - Jackson (170 cm / 5′7)
Ben’s height is about average for someone between the age of 5 & 6, Jackson’s height is a little on the short side, but I’d imagine that he’d still grow a little until he’s like 20 and end up being around 175/176 cm.
I’d imagine Stiles to be a little taller around 172 cm, Allison is a little shorter at 165 cm and Malia is around 168 cm. (They will all still grow a bit, averaging between 173 (Allison) and 178 (Stiles) )
And the one thing I will say about whether or not Noah gets the twins, without getting too spoilery, or maybe it is, I’m sorry if it is but I can’t help not share.
Is that eventually both Noah and Chris have the same amount of kids from Peter. And one of them has twins. I’m still debating on names, in the deleted scene I named them Mikhail and Adeline, I currently have different names picked out.
And I think the balance thing is ADD related, because I had the same issue with planning the story XD. So yeah, Peter gets to have a lot of kids, and adopt a lot more into the pack, because Season 2 is kinda canon in this universe, in the sense that Isaac, Erica, and Boyd are still turned. Kira comes along, and of course Lydia. Considering what I have planned for Danny and Mack, I might add them to the pack as well.
And omg I LIVE for those X-men costume ideas <3 Omg. I love it. Considering Stiles’ abilities he would definitely be Nightcrawler and would probably use a quick spell or two to get the makeup in place. (A druid invented this fantastic spell to always get eyeliner on fucking point and shared it in their spellbook. Spoiler alert; said druid was Noah in his teenage punk years. Turns out, it works for other makeup too.)
And I’m in fucking love with all of these ideas actually, I can’t really say which I like more.

60 Random Things About This Week’s So You Think You Can Dance
1.  Okay, back to New York auditions.
2.  Let’s see if Vanessa Hudgens makes me start a “Stupid Things Vanessa Hudgens Said THIS Week” list.
3.  I kinda hope she does.
4.  Cat doesn’t give Vanessa Hudgens any superlatives this episode, but we still have to hear about how Mandy Moore choreographed That Movie That Will Not Be Named Because I’m Fucking Done.
***
Magda & Kiki
5.  I don’t know what it is about their pre-audition package that makes me love them but I do.  I do love them.
6.  Also, Kiki could get it, just so y’all know.
7.  Y’all already knew that, didn’t you?
8.  I like them as dancers separately, but not necessarily as a couple, if only because I never saw them actually connect as a couple.  But watching them separately was a blast.  All of Kiki’s personality comes through when he dances—he’s funny, he’s sexy, he’s got decent moves—and Magda looks like if Drea de Matteo were a ballroom dancer, in all the best ways.  Super sexy, super talented, could probably fuck you up if she needed to.  I just don’t like them as a couple.  Also, the choreography was a little herky-jerky for me.  I’d like them to go to choreography, but they’ll probably get sent through.
9.  Oh look, they got sent through.  I am very good at this show.
10.  “I’d like to dance with him a paso doble, I tell ya.”  Attagirl, Mary.
***
11.  A bunch of random ballroom dancers who are good, but not good enough to merit an audition package.
12.  Claudia looks beautiful in blue and gold, and Jorge has some footwork I wish we could have seen.
13.  Jaryd Farcon has a questionable haircut and his dancing partner looks like Dr. Mark Greene’s daughter from ER who was played by Hallee Hirsh.
14.  I knew that name from memory, but I can’t tell you anything I learned from the biochem class that I studied for 10 hours a week.
15.  Allen Genkin looks like if Gumby were a really sexy ballroom dancer, and that is a sentence I never thought I’d say.  But that’s what this show does to me.
***
Zachary Downer
16.  I watched two seasons ago and I don’t remember Zachary Downer.  Take that for what you will.  He’ll make it to live shows, because that’s what happens when you come back.
17.  I like his choreography because it’s like he thought “what if tribal dancing and contemporary had a baby?” and then this is what came out.  He makes a lot of interesting shapes with his body, but I’m not excited about his dancing per se.  I can tell that he’s good, but the choreography—while interesting—is a little boring for me.  He falls out of the one pirouette pass he does, which is disappointing, but all the other technique is on point..  I’d be shocked if he didn’t make it to the Top 20 though.
18.  Vanessa Hudgens actually provides a cogent critique for once.  What world are we in?
19.  Nigel comments that the choreography as like Alvin Ailey, and Zachary nearly bursts into tears.  That’s beautiful.  I’m rooting for him now.
***
Ramita Ravi
20.  “I’m doing a mixture of classical Indian dance and contemporary” and I am fucking here for that.
21.  The choreography and the dancing are lovely, but Ramita isn’t hitting the pocket for me.  It might be because every time I start to pick up on a story, she looks out at the audience and smiles, so it feels like she’s not connecting to her own piece.
22.  “Oh my gosh, I love your hands, I want them,” breathes Vanessa Hudgens, coming dangerously close to a “Stupidest Things Vanessa Hudgens Said THIS Week” list.
23.  Ramita is through to choreography, which makes sense to me, because they didn’t see her pre-audition package where she was doing more and better dancing than in her audition, which I’m guessing the producers made her do so she could get airtime.
24.  I’m guessing.
25.  And then Vanessa Hudgens literally spent ten seconds watching her hands make shapes.  Goddammit, Hudgens.
***
Peter Mangione
26.  Oh my God, all of these people are like “I started dancing when I was six” “—when I was eight” “—when I was six.”  And then here come’s Peter Mangione’s fine-ass self:  “I started dancing about six months ago, and my friend said ‘You’re not that bad.’  I mean, I’m not good, but I’m not that bad.”
27.  I love him.
28.  “I’m not afraid to throw my body in any direction.”  Good, can you throw it in my direction?  Because goddamn.
29.  “I think it’s gonna be something nice for them to watch.”  With a body that looks like that, he Is Not Wrong.
30.  I mean, I’m not going to recap his choreography in the slightest bit, but if he started actually stripping, I wouldn’t be mad about it.
***
Arielle Disciascio
31.  I love Arielle and her mother Natalie a lot already.  “Don’t make me sound perfect.”  “Perfect?  You’re not.”
32.  The Disciascio Dames have the cancer backstory of this season’s auditions, but they are adorable, so I don’t mind the manipulation.
33.  Arielle’s body is RIDICULOUS.  Her control over it is stunning, her legs go on for 17 days, and she’s clearly technically proficient.  I can tell she used to be a competitive dancer, because at times she shows out to the audience instead of connecting with story.  But when she’s in the story, it’s incredibly captivating.  But it’s a little paint-by-numbers dancing.
34.  “At some point, I’d like to see you live life a little more dangerously.”  Good point from Mary.  I want to see her edges get roughened up a bit, because there’s beauty in that kind of mess.
***
35.  A bunch of familiar faces coming through.
36.  Jamie Greco’s boobs squeak, but I do not remember Jamie Greco.
37.  Chris Andrews has awesome highlighter yellow shoes and made it to Green Mile of Season 12, which I don’t remember, but I’m getting old, so ???
38.  Chase “Ctut” Lindsey has a couple of bombs he wants to drop on people, and that’s a terrifying thing to say.
39.  Jason Kidd looks like if John Deere learned how to pop and lock.
***
Romainson Romain
40.  Romainson spent the last year absolutely going Through It, and I hope to God he makes it to Top 20.
41.  He looks up to the heavens before he starts dancing to his cousin Marvin, and I’m already a mess.
42.  I can tell how much the audition means to Romainson, and although I don’t know how to critique his audition (the choreography isn’t quite there, the technique is lacking a bit—I guess I do know how to critique it), I can absolutely feel the emotion in the movement, and for me, that’s the most vital point of any artistic form.  Does it make me feel?
43.  “I feel life is weighing on you, and I want to lift it off of you and set you free.”  Fuck you, Vanessa Hudgens, for making me cry.
44.  Holy shit.  Mary has this amazing connection with Romainson, talking about grief and tragedy.  “You gotta take that next step.  And trust me, it’ll be okay.”  Her voice is choked with tears.  “You gotta dance!  You gotta live!  You gotta bring the joy back, and only you can bring the joy back.”  The audience applauds.  Vanessa Hudgens applauds.  Mary pays it no mind, because she has been where Romainson is right now, and she wants nothing more than for him to begin to heal.  “I want to see you come back and do the choreography, and let it go, because it’s okay!  You loved them.  They loved you.  They want you to shine!  You can do it!  You can do it”  Romainson looks like he is looking for something now.  His eyes still look sad, but they set a little bit, they focus a bit more.
“If we invite you back to choreography, can you shine?” Nigel asks.
“I will shine,” Romainson states.  His voice isn’t strong, but it has conviction.  In the audience, another auditioned is crying, wiping away tears.  She started to heal today, too.
“Yes to choreography, of course,” Vanessa Hudgens says, without any bullshit.  She feels this moment, too.
“Come back and shine,” Nigel demands.  Romainson steps away.  He doesn’t smile, his face doesn’t change expression, but there’s a new gleam in his eye that wasn’t quite there.  He almost feels the desire to smile.  There’s a new spark in him somewhere.  He begins to leave the stage.
“But first, come give me a hug!” Mary Murphy demands in that way of hers.  The audience cheers, the music becomes uplifting, spiritual.  Mary wraps Romainson in a hug; he clings to her.  “Thank you,” he murmurs.  “Be good,” she says.  “God bless you.”  “God bless you.”  The audience is still cheering, but they are the only ones who exist in this moment, because they are members of The Club who have found each other.  Romainson’s audition snagged a sliver of grief Mary thought had become completely smooth, until she realized grief can never be completely smoothed away.  Romainson learned that it’s okay to start smoothing the grief away.  Someone finally gave him permission to take sandpaper and steel wool and make the rough edges start to gleam again.  That the hole doesn’t have to be dark, and sad, and scary.  The hole can shine, a beautiful reminder of what used to be there.
45.  Goddammit, I love this show sometimes.  I needed that healing, too.
***
Marc “Fullout” Royale
46.  “Feeling good?”
“Yeah!”
“Feeling confident?”
“Yeah!”
“You got this?”
“Yeah.”
“Is this gonna be your bitch?”
“All of the above!”
47.  I’m pretty sure Fullout just fell in love with Cat Deeley.
48.  Fallout is a BIG BOY because he has BIG JOY and BIG MOOD in his body.  His dancing makes me happy.
***
Claire Rathbun
49.  I don’t like her.  I don’t know why.  But I don’t like her.
50.  But damn, she is a beautiful dancer, even if she is playing to the audience entirely too much.  Gorgeous lines, great spin passes.
52.  But I still don’t care.
***
Lex Ishimoto
“52.  Tell me about your audition, what are you going to do?”  “It’s an improv.”  IDK why Cat is so shocked, every single one of Melanie Moore’s solos was improvised.
52.  All episode long, the show has said that this is going to be the best audition of the season.  I hate that kinda hype because I am ALWAYS let down.  Don’t fuck me up, show.
54.  Okay.  That was one of the best auditions I’ve seen on this show.  His technique is amazing, he knows what his body can do, it was a nearly flawless audition.  But I hated knowing that it was improv, because it kept me from connecting to it.  Instead of being emotionally connecting for me, it was just clever.  Which, clever is fine, but clever doesn’t necessarily inspire me.  He will clearly make it through, most likely all the way to Top 20, but I want to see him emotionally connect to a routine, and see what comes out of that.
55.  That being said, his double-swipe jump was AMAZING, and the kind of power he can generate with his body is unbelievable.
***
56.  Oh God, it’s time for choreography.  PLEASE, Romainson.  PLEASE.
57.  Romainson makes it through, and I see a genuine smile, and his inner life is so beautiful.  I really hope he makes it to the Top 20.  I want this life to be amazing.
58.  Academy next week, for an even 100 dancers.
59.  Oh, and here’s a whole bunch of shit I wasn’t expecting:  there’s only a Top 10, and one of the choreographers says “I want you on my team!” and now I’m scared that they’re going The Voice on this ish.  YOU DON’T HAVE TO CHANGE WITH THE TIMES, SHOW.  JUST BE YOU.  I JUST WANNA SEE DANCING.
60.  Also shirtless men.  BUT DANCING.
