I think mo’s a really good drawer

Brother qiu will purposely drive his motorcycle when he knows mo’s gonna be around cuz secretly he wants the boys to think he’s cool

Mo gets his feelings hurt easliy but he acts mad instead of upset cuz he doesn’t want people to know

He cheng can cook really well and did try his best to teach he tian

He cheng was doing a good job of teaching but he tian refused to listen out of spite and bitterness

Mo’s mom is the type to baby him so much

She brags about him to her co-workers even though he has bad grades and gets in trouble a lot

Zheng xixi’s little sister had a crush on Jian yi when they were little for like a day then saw how he acted and it was instantly gone

When mo was little (and even now) he had a code word to say in the sentence to his mom to let her know he wanted who ever was over to go home

He tian would make mo mad just so he would hit him cuz he thought it was cute

The 3 dudes who we usally see kinda hanging around mo in the early chapters were also in she li’s gang and like the bald one mo defend the other two from she li

Mo understand math really well but he’s shit at taking tests and that’s why he always fails

Mo still feels embarrassed whenever he sees a rock and he’s around zheng xixi cuz he feels bad about what happened

Jian yi tries to help he tian get with mo while he tian helps Jian yi get with Zheng xixi

Mo’s mom think him and he tian would be cute together so she tries to get them together while trying to be suddle about it

Jian yi’s mom always forgets Zheng xixi’s name

Jian yi will talk about Zheng xixi to his mom whenever she’s around till the point she has to tune him out

One time mo laughed and smiled real wide and the whole group just froze for a hot second cuz w h a t

Mo doesn’t like being alone with Zheng xixi cuz he thinks he’s still mad or gonna hold it over him cuz he’s use to being around she li

Whenever he tians forced to go to his dads he’ll constantly talk about mo to anyone and everyone to piss his dad off and send him back quicker

Mo likes to be squashed while he sleeps so he’ll push his bed a few inches away from the wall so he can sleep in the little space but he has to have a pillow on both sides otherwise he gets scared

Mo’s also scared of a lot of things and he gets scared easliy (escailly the in dark but he refuses to tell anyone that)

His phone rings.

He Tian reaches into his pocket for his phone, anxious. He hopes that its Mo Guan Shan - maybe he’s changed his mind. Instead, its the message he’s been dreading.

Ge: It’s about time

Ge: Your things are packed

Ge: What time are your school activities over, I’ll tell the driver to come pick you

He knows it’s not the same, but it feels like a punishment. It feels like when he had begged He Cheng to take and protect the little russet dog, and instead, his brother had let him believe he’d shot it and buried it on their mountain property. This time around, it’s much worse. Mo had taken his insecurities, the one’s he’d divulged at his weakest, raw and messy, and thrown it back in his face.

His knuckles whiten as he clenches a fist around his phone. Two paces ahead of him, Jian Yi and Zhan Zheng Xi are still bickering. No time has passed, but the sight before him already feels like it’s taken place years ago, faded and sepia like a memory.

He watches blankly, waits for the microwave to ping and for Jian Yi to carry his noodles outside the convenience store. He Tian sits. Numb.

“If only we were this happy all the time,” Jian Yi says, “right, He Tian?”

The happiness - it’s too late. Like desperately trying to hold onto a wave between cupped palms, it spills and leeches into the sand before he’s able to retain any of it. It leaves him more hollow than before.

He isn’t able to speak. There’s nothing he can say to make the situation go away, but it’s at least better to spend the moment as if nothing’s wrong, just sitting with two of his friends before having to face the reality - he’ll text them both afterwards, when he’s on the car.

The block of his phone is pressed up against his thigh. It’s still.

Zhan Zheng Xi seems to sense the mood he’s in, and says to Jian Yi, “it’s late, we should head back first.”

Jian Yi acquieces without any arguing, “alright. We’ll see you, He Tian.”

He Tian waves before closing his eyes and leaning back again. He doesn’t want to lose the image. He’s struck by the irrational fear of opening his eyes and seeing an empty street.

His phone pings and he scrambles for it.

Driver: Just arrived around the corner

Driver: Sir advises that you should leave before 9, due of the traffic

He ignores it, tabs over to Mo Guan Shan’s text record. He looks at the time on his phone: 8:48 PM.

He has 12 minutes.
