The List
The next step was to choose the places which will correspond with our subject and depict the contrasts of Liverpool city best. A bit of brainstorming and exchanging ideas effected in the list of filming locations prepared by Dagmara and attached below:
Art:
the Walker Art Gallery- Tate- FACT- Open Eye Gallery- Slavery Museum
Classic                                        Modern                                   African
Street art- any good one- Baltic Triangle, London Road, mural on Great George Street etc.
Art Schools- new (John Lennon Building) and old (Hope Street)- we can mention John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe studied there
Artists’ studios: TRS if possible, MerseyMade 98 Paradise Street- studios are upstairs, our school’s studios on the 5th floor
Lambanana- the big yellow one, inside and outside of the Museum of Liverpool, Redmonds Building lobby, St. John’s mall terrace- a city symbol
Architecture:
Georgian Quarter + Museums & the Library + Townhall- traditional
Albert Dock + Tobacco Warehouse + Titanic Hotel + Brewery in Baltic Triangle- industrial
Waterfront + Old Hall Street/St. Paul’s Square offices- modern
Liver Building- like New York’s Art Deco skyscrapers, the Albany Building on Old Hall Street- like a Renaissance Palazzo in Florence
The Capital Building + Liverpool Crown Court- brutalist
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic + Tunnel ventilation shafts + Lewis on Renshaw Street- art deco
2 cathedrals- huge contrast in style, different religions
Music:
The Beatles- lots of possible sites to film but avoid the statues on the Waterfront- everyone filmed them along with the busking guy! There are many murals depicting them around town, especially on Mathew Street. Remember of the Cavern!
Same street- Erics- a temple of punk rock back in the 70’
Same street- a statue of Cilla Black
Contrasting communities:
Black, Irish, Chinese, English, Polish etc. - city of migrants, contrasting culture and beliefs. More to find in the Museum of Liverpool, there is a Caribbean Community Centre in Toxteth and a Polish one in Kirkdale
a product from Becca's beautiful brain

I applied to be a stockist at MerseyMade to sell my photography, notecards, christmas cards and calendars.
I met the owner/founder at a recent Networking event and was intrigued to learn more about their brand and products. I visited the location and was met with a well-stocked, inviting & creative environment with warm & welcoming staff.
I'm excited to see where this may lead!

Roadtrip: Oxfordshire, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds
We rented a car from Sixt company, the whole process was fast and easy. We did purchase an additional car insurance and I definitely recommend it. We got an Audi 4 door and the color is kinda teal (the original color that I wanted for my car). We started our journey from London. We had to pay a toll fee to drive around the city.
OXFORDSHIRE
It’s my first time to stay in a B&B. It’s like a hotel room but it’s inside a flat. There’s a communal kitchen. It was a good stay nevertheless. We rode the bus to get to the city on our first day.
Oxford University- we visited the HP movie locations. We did purchase our tickets for the Christ Church College . We then walked around the university.
G&D ice cream and cafe- I saw this as a must do here from a website. Sadly, it was a disappointment. I would rate it as 3/5. The ice cream was just okay, nothing special.
Ramen Kulture- I’m so glad we came across this ramen place. It was so delicious, solid 5/5. It’s a small joint so we had to wait probably more than 30 minutes. It was so worth it.
The next day, we wrapped our trip by visiting the Carfax Tower. It was a lovely view of the city. The stairs were really narrow but good thing it was short.
BIRMINGHAM
It took us close to 2 hours to get to Birmingham. We stayed in an Aparthotel for a night. The hotel location was quite sketchy to be honest, so we just stayed at our hotel room until check out.
Cadbury World- It’s cool to see how they started. We had free chocolates and we got to do some activities. It was fun but I feel like the kids would appreciate it more than the adults. We were able to buy the big chocolate bars for a cheaper price though so that’s something.
Haidilao Hotpot- This was our dinner and we were all full by the end of the night. It was a great meal.
On our way to Manchester, one of the tires lost its air. Ian (idk if I spelled your name right), thank you for your kindness. You meant the world to us at that moment. Thank you for taking your time to stop and help us pump the tire without any hesitation.
MANCHESTER
Manchester became our main place to stay and we just decided to commute going to Liverpool and Leeds. It was way cheaper and less hassle. Parking lots are really difficult to find in UK.
I super loved our stay in Manchester, it was 200 ft away from the tram station and it is a high rise building with big windows that I’ve always dreamt about. It’s pretty cool that I get to live through it during my travel and that’s good enough.
After we arrived and settled down, we went out to explore the city. Unfortunately, everything in our list was being renovated (Manchester Cathedral, Albert Square and Manchester Town Hall). We just walked for a bit and ate a good Chinese restaurant and had milk tea afterwards.
LIVERPOOL
We took the train to get here and took the bus to get around the city. Liverpool was like a modernized little city. There were a lot of condos and high rise buildings.
Merseymade Gordon Smith Cafe- We had a British breakfast, it was good except for my chai tea. It’s a lovely cafe inside an art gallery. I was able to buy handmade pouches.
The Beatles Story- I’m not a Beatles fan but I love some of their songs. The museum has a lot of stories about them. For someone who isn’t a big fan, I discovered something about them.
Beatles Pier Head- It’s a big statue of the Bealtes walking in the pier. We took couple of photos. The background was great and the sky was clear.
Merseyside Maritime Museum- It’s a free museum, so why not right? I was interested with the Titanic exhibit. Listening to their stories brought back the first time I watched the Titanic movie.
Cowshed- it’s a restaurant inside a renovated flat. The food was actually so delicious. I only ordered appetizers because they do not have any chicken as a main entree. I still enjoyed it.
LEEDS
This bus ride was probably my favorite. It was raining and I was listening to my dramatic songs. That was my vibe. LOL. The bus ride was so cheap, too good to be true. Actually it was, our original time was cancelled without notifying us. Good thing, the next bus was within the hour.
Thackray Medical Museum- We were all excited with this one. It was an interactive museum and definitely meant for the kids. I liked how they collaborated the recent health issues such as depression, anxiety and also there was an exhibit dedicated for periods. How cool is that, right?
Ambiente Tapa Leeds- We had to try all the world cuisines. Spanish this time, we had Paella. It was good. I took a photo outside the restaurant, it’s a street with bricks and cobbles.
Leeds Corn Exchange- It’s a building with small boutiques. I got a cute card for Mum.
Last day in Manchester
We decided to chill on our last day. Ofc, it was still raining. I wanted to walk, so Jessica (my bff) walked with me. It was raining so we had our Colombia hoodies on. Walking in the rain has a natural dramatic effect in it. We had Dominos pizza for dinner. I tell you, it tasted so different. It was fresh and extremely delicious. I actually had 5-6 slices. I KNOOOOW but it was really delicious!
Guess what? One of the tires was flat. Good thing, there’s a Sixt location and we were able to have some help. Initially, it was supposed to be fixed quicky so we went to the grocery store. It’s honestly our favorite activity. After an hour, it wasn’t fixed because the car didn’t have the tool to take off the tire. We went to the airport and got the car changed for a slightly bigger one. We drove back to London for about 4 hours.
 Driving in UK
Overall, my experience was not bad as I expected to be. I was actually more confused on the yields and it was quite difficult to keep up the speed limits. People there actually followed them except in London. Drivers in their highways give way to the truck drivers like wow. LA can never be that.

Keeping it local with Merseymade
Keeping it local with Merseymade
I don’t often make new years resolutions, but one change I’m trying to stick to this year is buying from my local independent businesses. As one of said businesses, it’s important I give back.
When PinkMedia asked if I’d like to join them at their first Bloggers Social of the year I jumped (and screamed with excitement)at the chance. I haven’t attended a bloggers event since the good old beauty…
