Happy Melly Monday everyone!
Today is yet another commission blog. This time,it is from Issycake again with Hero Melia
So for this Hero Melia commission, I wanted to show what Melia looks like when she is ready for battle. I already gushed about Hero Melia's design when I first saw her in a previous commission blog, but I have not talked about what got me awestruck by her design, and it is this pose:
It's just incredibly elegant looking. Like Melia is floating in the air during battle with the telethia-like wings all spread out. It is so glorious, and I wanted to capture that in the best way possible with a full-body render. And I believe no one else can do it, but Issy.
I then asked her back in October of last year when her commissions opened up again if she can do a perspective similar to this Taion art that she also has done:
She went with it, and we began the process.
There isn't as much change from the sketch compared to the final product. The only change I mentioned to her was to raise her arms up a little bit higher. As well as the World Ender not taking as much form as of yet.
Here is the lineart of everything besides the World Ender. As you can see, her lineart is incredibly good. Especially when you look at Melias hair where you can see so much depth in the strands and light reflection. It is so well done.
As for the art itself...
HOLY SH*T THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!
The way Issy colored and rendered her has seen so much improvement since the last commission. From the light shining on her body, the World Ender radiating with power, the telethia wings glowing with brilliance, to the gradient background blending into Melia's resplendence. It was just incredible. All of it was just incredible. So much in fact that I currently still have it as a profile picture on some gaming social media websites.
And many people believe so too because it has over 4K likes on Twitter a year after the art came out. It was simply incredible from the reception that it has gotten.
Despite probably one of the best Melia commissions that I have seen, she hasn't been super active in drawing as of late. But she still takes commissions though, so definitely check that out so she can get back to drawing again. Because I believe her potential is incredible.

One of the interesting areas where High Entia culture differs from Homs is that of science fiction stories. The High Entia prefer utopias where advanced technology is used to better lives, while the Homs seem to be more gravitated towards the idea that advanced technology does not change the grit and sandpaper of society, only altering how it manifests. In that sense, it is little surprise that only the High Entia could make Star Trek, and only the Homs could make Star Wars.
Shulk is of course currently a fan of both, and as a result I have recently watched several of them. Thus, the inspiration for this year's Hallowe'en costume.
Ether and the Force are extremely alike, so it is no surprise that I would find success in the Jedi ranks. But without being limited by their rules or customs, I have the freedom to delve into the full potential of the medium. For example, note the metallic sheen of the robes - beskaric nanofibres have been woven into the material, greatly strengthening it against most forms of attack. The edges of the cloak are also slightly magnetic, so I can wrap it around myself and have it appear as a more traditional robe than the selected shade of blue.
The lightsabre is short and simple, but it contains a miniaturised version of the same sort of ether focus that would be found in a staff. Summoned elementals are spawned inside the glass globe at the bottom, from where they can be used as a catalyst for Force powers without appearing to be generated by the Dark Side. Concurrently, I focused on Form VI as my style of choice, though III was my second option, and I must say that VII was tempting.
You might ask, why go so far in-depth for a simple costume. My response is, why not? It's a fun yearly diversion.

Happy Melly Monday again!
Time for another commission blog. This one comes again from @deebyfeeby. It full on art of Melia sitting on her throne!
At this point in my Melia commission journey, I was taking a cruise with my family in late October of last year to get rid of the built-up stress and tension the pandemic built up in the past couple years. And after the cruise, it gave me enough energy to have myself throw money at artists to commission more Melia art.
It was around the same time that I wanted to talk to a few people about getting three different kinds of Christmas Melia commissions, which I will talk about those next month. One such idea was to have Melia wear holiday colors in her Hero outfit.
Luckily, Pheobe opened up her commissions again just when I tweeted that out. And I was like, let's do this right away!
So, I gave her what I wanted. A half-body Melia sitting on a throne with it all in the background. And have her in her Hero outfit and a Christmas-colored Hero outfit variation.
Nothing much has really changed in the sketch phase. I also really like how Pheobe does her lines here. They are very well-done.
As for the art itself. Phoebe did an excellent job. She shows off her skills, especially with her background, which I think is still the best looking background I have seen from her. The shading on the throne and in the background makes Melia look more "royal" than she already is. Melia herself in both variations looks really clean as well!
I already mentioned where you can find Pheobe before and how her commissions work in a previous post. But I want to say that you should definitely give her a follow on Twitter. She is holding an art raffle when she reaches 8K followers. I would definitely recommend checking that out!

It’s that time of year once more.
Occasionally, I take a little jaunt into nearby universes to observe. Finding an appropriate disguise for each one is an amusing challenge. I’ve decided to re-purpose one of said costumes for Hallowe’en this year.
In this world, normal people cannot use ether, so it was imperative for me to disguise myself as one who can: a “Blade”, as the race is known. I patterned the theme as the rainbow bird of several legends with some elements of a phoenix, but with a very human look to imply great strength (it seems to be a pattern that weak Blades look quite inhuman and vice-versa). Ideally, any who attempted to challenge me would believe my element is wind or fire, when in reality I have no natural element and can utilise any with equal ease (something that I must be careful to not demonstrate in public). As a bonus, I did not have to conceal my wings, which would otherwise stand out among the people of this land. The hexagonal look of the supposed Core Crystal mirrors the shape of ether gems.
