Another early Obi playlist using the most broadly themed trope, so I could include some songs I’ve been wanting to use for a while! Most songs have some common themes from previous playlists (arrows, snow, green vs. gold) but I had a difficult time naming this playlist before noticing the lyric “troublemaker tempting fate” from the Nada Surf song.

This was supposed to be a first 10 random songs off your playlist game, but I don’t really use spotify likes and I don’t really have one long playlist of random songs I like, so here is one random song off of nine spotify playlists I created plus one off of my likes at the end. I decided to exclude the playlist of songs I was trying to learn on the hammered dulcimer and the playlist of instrumental pop songs I don’t really listen to because it turns out I find even instrumental music distracting when I’m working.

2. An album you wish you could hear again for the first time

August and Everything After by Counting Crows!!! It's absolutely one of my favorite albums, maybe theee favorite I dunno, and I have no recollection of how I felt when I listened to it all at once because I knew several of the songs independent of the album for years before listening to the album. It's such an emotional Experience every time, and I'd love to know what it felt like the first time.

8. Name an artist/band that isn't touring at the moment who you'd really like to see in concert

Ooo Jack's Mannequin for sure. They're not even together anymore, but I missed their farewell tour when it happened like a century ago, and they're in my top five favorite bands. As for groups that are still together? Matt Pond PA. I adore them, and I've really been having a Moment over their music recently. They came to Columbus in probably 2017 and I missed out and I still think about it.

28. Name a song (or a few songs) that would need to be included in a movie about your life

Round Here by Counting Crows is the number one!! (Off of August and Everything After, heyoo.) It is MY SONG and has been since high school. I have journal entries from that period where I wrote about how much is resonated with me.

Less vital is Straight to Hell by Hollerado (for that sweet freedom from religion mixed with creeping but sardonic guilt).

Spring has sprung, but when you think about it, spring was what Christmas/Solstice was trying to get at all along.

Lindsay Buckingham (who lent Fleetwood Mac their staying power) wrote a song in 1983 for a very dumb movie. I'm an LB fan, but matt pond PA recorded the keeper version in 2005.
