Movie #1 of 2024: The Baker
I don't know if Ron Perlman deserves to get to make this movie, but Ron Perlman makes this movie. Credit to director Jonathan Sobol for making the best of the current batch of radically cliched b-action films for streaming content providers and dads.

🍬❄️
(if you want/feel like it!)
Hi Lacey! And yes of course I’d want to🥰🫶
🍬 post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom
Hm, if we’re talking football then I’ll say opinion about Darwin. I understand it’s mostly a joke like ‘Darwin doesn’t understand what the team is saying’ and I find it hilarious too when it’s about the language barrier etc. but I can’t stand when people think that means Darwin isn’t smart. Like just because he doesn’t speak English doesn’t mean he’s a lost lamb. And it’s easy to see his intelligence play out on the pitch because his special awareness and long range shots are seriously genius. So my unpopular opinion is that Darwin knows what he’s doing and also that he understands the team and speaks more English than he lets on. Not saying he’ll be busting out Shakespeare soon but he’s not illiterate
❄️ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
Okay this is elaborate but basically a knight or cowboy AU. I tried once on both actually for different ships but ultimately gave up before I’d reached the 3k mark on either. But, I was talking to my bestie Ro about the cowboy fic and it’s so more my style than the knight fic in terms of I wouldn’t have to do several layers of research to write it aspect. I legit spent like an hour researching medieval underwear before deciding I was doing too much for a fic. However, COWBOYS?! Now in a perfect world, I have plenty of time and energy and I write the fic and it’s anywhere from 60k to 200k. But in this world I can barely manage 10k in two weeks. However Ro insists on giving me brainrot on this cowboy fic and I will be persuaded eventually to write a snippet of the fic which I could maybe wrangle into 8k. And god the tension!!! You don’t understand. The pain of having a fic fully fleshed and discussed but knowing you can’t engage in writing it is crazy. But yes, so many thoughts. So so so many.
Although my currently achievable dream plot is my vampire domitrent fic which I believe is coming along swell, if only I could finish it :( but here’s the start of it:

However, if we’re talking a dream fic plot by another person that I’d be excited to read, I would be too shy to say on main but you can totally DM me to find out ;)

In the US and Canada approximately 80,000 people die of overdoses each year. This is double the rate from just ten years ago and the direct result of fentanyl contaminating the illicit drug supply, causing 40,000 deaths last year alone.
Since 2016 fentanyl-laced cocaine fatalities have grown at a faster rate than fentanyl-laced heroin fatalities. At more than 5,000 per year, casual or recreational cocaine users are at the greatest risk because they have little to no opioid tolerance and, unlike daily heroin users, are largely unaware that synthetic opioids are being cut into their drugs.
This video, made by Toronto-based creative agency The Garden in partnership with DanceSafe, is directed at people who use cocaine recreationally, to educate and inform them of a simple test strip that can possibly save their lives. Fentanyl test strips can detect fentanyl and its many analogs, including the deadliest of all—carfentanil—in cocaine and other drugs. Like a pregnancy test, the strips use immunoassay technology and provide accurate results within two minutes. One red line is positive for fentanyl. Two red lines is negative.
“Naloxone has been successful in reversing opioid overdoses, but fentanyl test strips can prevent overdoses in the first place,” says Emanuel Sferios, founder of DanceSafe.
DanceSafe, a US-based nonprofit is the world’s largest reseller of fentanyl test strips, distributing over 20,000 per month directly to drug consumers at music events around the US and Canada, and online through its website, dancesafe.org.
The Garden created and produced this video to support International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event held on August 31st each year to raise awareness of overdoses and reduce the stigma associated with drug use.
“We know that the days of ‘just say no’ are long behind us, and that the war on drugs was lost,” says Shane Oglivie, founder of The Garden. “We want to help educate people on harm reduction strategies that can actually make an impact, and shift the public conversation towards practical, evidence-based solutions to the opioid crisis.”
