BIOGRAPHY (tw death mention, car accident)
Once upon a time, Whitney was living in New York and had a rather cozy life, what with the nice house and her parents’ income. Quite the achiever growing up, wanting to please her parents. Good grades, a part of clubs, a cheerleader and softball player, the like.
Though not everything lasts forever or whatever the hell they say. Whitney was around sixteen when their mother passed. Wrong place, wrong time. A mugging.
Then after Whitney graduated high school, her father ended up getting arrested. Apparently he had been linked to various crime organizations for years.
Whitney had already started to lose some of that light in their eyes after their mother’s passing, but with her father being put behind bars, things fell a part even more.
How dare he? How dare he do all of that shit? How dare he… break his daughter’s trust? Ruin so much? Did her mother ever know at all? Guess Whitney would never know the answers, for she never visited her father once since the trial verdict.
For years after that, Whitney tried to act like she was fine even when she wasn’t. Nonetheless, she still went to university and got degrees in business, legal studies, and English. She worked as a paralegal for a few years, even planning on going the lawyer route one day.
Too bad the universe had other plans. Whitney was in West Virginia for work conferences around four years ago, and ended up needing to drive across state.
Another driver apparently had dozed off, and the two cars collided. Thankfully neither passenger was hurt, but Whitney was frustrated to put it lightly. She ended up following the other woman, Carolina, to the nearby town. To make sure she didn’t end up ditching the situation.
Well, ha, let’s just say Whitney never made it to that work conference. When the town’s residents explained that they were actually trapped there, Whitney laughed out loud. “You’re joking, right?” Something like that, she stated.
Turns out they were not joking, and the rest was history.
Whitney is a city girlie, so the whole ‘stuck in a small town forever’ thing hadn’t been on her bucket list. It was like they were somehow thrown into some cliché, small town movie. Well, plus some ghosts or whatever. Oh yeah, that’s a thing too.
Who does Whitney usually hear or see? Her mother, mostly. Which saddens her. Sometimes even her father, which pisses her off even if she knows by that point that he wasn’t actually there.
TL;DR
Whitney grew up comfortably in New York, the achiever type, always wanting to please her parents
Her mother died when she was a teenager and after high school her father went to prison due to crime organization dealings
Never went to visit him and tried to move on, trying to act like she was okay when she wasn’t
Went to university and majored in a few things, working as a paralegal for a few years
Was in West Virginia for work and had to drive across state, only to get in an accident with someone
Whit followed her to the nearby town, the town they ended up not being able to leave
Isn't a small town kinda person but unfortunately, not much she can do about it

(aaron tveit) [the curious]. Please welcome [Elijah atkins(He/They)] to Huntsville, WV. They are an [40]-year-old [VISITOR] who lives in [TOWN]. You may see them around working as a [watch ranger (east)]. Poor unfortunate soul. We’ll see if they survive.
Name: Elijah Atkins
Nicknames: Eli, Lijah
Age: 40
Occupation: watch ranger
Sexuality: straight
Dating: ???
FC: Aaron Tveit
Place of origin: New York City
+ Optimistic, Carefree, Street smart
- Nosy, Direct, Inquisitive
BIO
Hailing from Manhattan, Elijah hasn't always been as carefree as he comes across. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, the son of a well known doctor and his socialite wife. To put it plain, he was spoiled beyond belief, always given what he wanted, went to the top private schools in his area, lived a life a bit like in gossip girl. But as he got older, he began to rebel, going against his parents wishes, staying out late, drinking and dabbling in some drugs. Finally fed up of bailing his son out of jail, his dad told him to buck up or be cut off.
He was supposed to follow in his footsteps, become a doctor himself but Elijah had other ideas thus beginning his cons on unsuspecting people, he could smile and get away with it. It took getting caught by an undercover police officer for him to finally set himself straight. Much to his parents disappointment, Elijah enrolled into the NYPD and passed with flying colours.
He's been a detective for a while now, starting out in homicide which he strongly thought was his calling but after a series of run ins, he's started to lean towards occult side of it, always curious, always switched on.
When her file landed on his desk, Elijah got curious about the missing town she had gone to find more out about. How can a whole town go missing? It's right there on the map. There's only one thing for it, go to Huntsville himself to satisfy that itch. There must be something more to this, right?
He's been in town for a while with no leads and strange things going on, this was a mess, a shit show.
Possible connections
Okay, as he's very fresh in town, he doesn't know anyone but possible future connections could be the following:
Partner in crime.
Best friend.
Frenemies.
FWB.

My favorite toys to play with have always been Lego and Transformers. Lego designed Optimus Prime. It’s a win win situation for me. Two for one special. We rolled out! 🚗💨 • This is a very well-built Optimus Prime, he’s steady, very heavy, tall, it transforms into an almost perfect truck (it has gaps, but it’s Lego+Transformers, what do you expect?), and the best part is that surprisingly it’s not built with fancy or unique parts, and it looks and feels spectacular! • Now, the only thing that I noticed that was a little weak for me was the joint that makes the torso spin around. It came off a couple of times while transforming it. It could’ve been a little stronger, but it’s ok, I learned how to be gentle with him. This boy is big and heavy, so handle him with care. • Overall, it was a very good experience putting Optimus Prime together. I enjoyed it very much 😉👍🏽 • • • #lego #transformers #legotransformers #legotransformersoptimusprime #optimusprime #legooptimusprime #legostore #legostorefifthavenue #legobricks #autobot #autobotsrollout #transformersofficial #autobotsleader #autobotsleaderoptimusprime #bigguy #hetransforms #i❤️lego #legofan #legoislife #legophotography #legomania #legophoto #afol #afolclub #afolcommunity #afollife #afolusa #buildinglego #legoset #legoexperience (at Manhattan, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce5hM4ZO-wv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Mom, I was dreaming. I was flying, and I was looking down at everyone. And then I could see you! And my school and everything! It was cool. Then I raised my hands like this, and the world cracked in half. And there was all fire and everything, and buildings were burning and people were screaming like in 9/11. But I was okay, like I was like a superhero or something. Like that blue guy who lives on the moon, in that movie we saw. Nothing could touch me.”
— An excerpt of the audition script for Billy Kaplan / Wiccan in WandaVision.

I’ve heard that there’s a push to get people to stop telling 9/11 stories. Long gone are the days of my giving a shit about what randos on the Internet think of what I say. I was texting mine to my bestie this morning and it occurred to me that it might be of value (cathartic, if nothing else) to put it down somewhere. Here it is, copy-pasted from text.
So my 9/11 story ... I'd been married 3 months and was working this job that was way too sweet for someone so young with no experience. The week prior I'd gone to Maine because my grandmother's replacement aortic valve went bad and she was in the state specialty hospital with sepsis and nobody thought she'd make it and fuck if I was going to take that chance. Back then, flying into New England from here meant flying over Manhattan, so I remember looking down on the towers and just thinking ... wow. Even from several thousand feet above, they were huge.
I was there for a week, I guess ... it's kind of a blur. All I remember is that Nan was sick and I was scared. But I was this green-as-fuck kid with no accrued PTO so I had to get back. I flew back on the 7th. On the 10th I turned 21 and my husband and I went out to dinner so I could get served legally for the first time lol. The next morning there was a skeleton crew at my office (investment firm). Most people were at a company-wide meeting in Annapolis, but about 4 of us stayed behind. My boss was like, "Hey, we should go get breakfast, who wants to come along and help?" I volunteered because it got me out of answering phones. She was the company controller so she stopped at the bank on our way to McD's. I was in her car listening to the radio and the DJs broke in to say that a single-engine plane had hit the World Trade Center in NY.
By the time we got to McD's everyone was talking about it. By the time we got back to the office with breakfast the second plane had hit. We found a news feed online (it was slow in those days!) and watched the towers burn. They adjourned the meeting and sent us all home. When I walked into the apartment, the first tower was falling. My husband had been released from school (he was still in college full time, hence why we lived with his mother, which is all kinds of yikes for another time) and the three of us just sat glued to the tv for the rest of the day.
My father-in-law was an attorney with Census and hadn't retired yet at that point. He was supposed to have a meeting on the Hill that day and nobody could get in touch with him because cell service was disrupted. We didn't know till a few days later that he was out working on one of his rental properties in WV.
So the world's falling apart and my grandmother's dying and what did I want to do? Speak to my parents, of course. Once the phone lines were unscrambled. I talked to Dad and he said Mom was still in Maine but he hadn't heard from her in days. That was unusual. I called my grandfather and he said he had no idea where she was, which rung some warning bells because she'd said she was staying "to take care of Papa."
When I finally heard from her, it was the end of September and she told me she'd left, pinned it all on Dad (who was absolutely clueless AND NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG) and I was just supposed to accept it. So. Yeah. Fuck. That time in my history sucks for a fuckton of reasons.
It’s raw, because that’s how we are with each other. I realize I left out things. Like living a stone’s throw from a major airport and going from seeing and hearing planes every 2-3 minutes 24/7 to empty, dead silent airspace for more than a week. It was so eerie. And buying my first car on the Saturday after the 11th, and my excitement over getting exactly the car I’d wanted and researched for months being dampened by the events of the week prior. Feeling like maybe I didn’t deserve it because so many people had died and shouldn’t I suffer, too?
But I was suffering. When Challenger exploded, when the Berlin Wall fell, when the first Gulf War started, I had the safety and security of my parents and the home they made for us. When September 2001 happened, my family splintered apart and there was no more security. I had my husband but we were literally stupid babies who’d never handled any adult thing before. We made it, obviously. And my grandmother didn’t die. She’s 88 now and the only remaining link I have to those old feelings of security and home that I clung to for so long. But I’ve been told in many ways by many people that I should be past that terrible month. I never will be. It doesn’t haunt me on a daily basis, but it’s always there and largely undealt with.
Our stories are just that. Stories. And ours. Belonging to each of us and valid in their own right, regardless of anyone’s opinion.

run for the hills [Manhattan, West Virginia - WIP, scene scribble]
“Keep him here.” David orders as he storms into the theatre’s foyer. “Don’t let him out until the storm’s over. And warn the other residents, it’s gonna be a long night.”
Jack’s not entirely sure who he’s speaking to; he’s not looking at anyone, staring only into the emptiness of the air – or maybe even beyond that. His eyes still hold that otherworldly sharpness, and every word out of his mouth tastes like petrichor. A few stagehands nod and rocket out of the theatre in a dead sprint, two heading left and one heading right, while an usher grabs the telephone and starts to dial.
“Dave-?!”Jack struggles to keep up with him, his whole stomach feeling as if it’s been punched out of his back. “Keep me here?! You can’t just – I need a train, I need to get out of here, you can’t – David-!”
His fingers just barely graze David’s wrist when he whirls around like something feral, wild-eyed with a snarl curling at his lips.
“You’re our resident!”
David’s voice snaps through the room like a tree being split. The actors and stagehands all fall to silence, every eye, every particle pulled towards David’s gravity.
“He’s not taking you.” David growls, low and deadly. “You’re ours.”

"Yeah. Although I’d really love some clarification on why she calls Joe the West Village." To me that's her saying she & he are things the other likes. She says 1st she's NYC - bright/shining/popular & "I still do it for you" before switching to the phrase calling him the WV which also ends with "you still do it for me" - so taken together she's saying he's something she loves: it's quaint, trendy stores/restaurants, but homey & residential - cobblestone streets vs. bright lights of Broadway.
But the only problem I’m finding here is that New York City is Brooklyn, Manhattan, Strawn Island, Queens, the Bronx. And even if we don’t want to her that technical about it and assume she’s only referring to Manhattan, she’s not necessarily talking about bright shiny lights. Manhattan is so different neighborhood to neighborhood.
So if that’s what she meant, should should’ve sang, “I’m Times Square” Or “I’m the Manhattan skyline”.
I just find it very interesting and intriguing as to why she referred to herself as a whole city and him only a smaller neighborhood within that city.
Again, I’m just assuming it’s an inside thing with them till I hear a better explanation.
I get that he might be a more quaint area vs a louder, brighter area. But she knows NYC so well. She wouldn’t mischaracterize the vastness of NYC like that.

Every State’s Most Popular Cocktail During the Pandemic
Tumblr media
Unsurprisingly, the term “cocktail recipes” was searched almost twice as much in March of 2020 as it was in March of 2019, according to Google data analyzed by Upgraded Points (UP), a research-based digital media brand focused on travel.
It’s no secret that many have taken up the hobby of imbibing to pass the time in quarantine; self-isolation is made easier with a stiff drink. But not every cocktail is equally celebrated across the map. In fact, popularity is surprisingly divided by state lines. Like most great things (such as sports teams and rappers) each state has its favorite.
Among all the drinks that have been trending across the nation, some notable observations: The Vodka Fizz is New York’s Biggie, while The Paloma is Cali’s Tupac. It will surely shock no-one that Alaskans have an affinity for White Russians, given their proximity to its namesake. And we’re pretty certain that the Shirley Temples being served in Nevada’s Las Vegas aren’t the virgin kind, but surely they missed a trick in not mixing up some Grasshoppers?
Curious about the rest of the U.S.’s preferences? Look no further. UP compiled a list of the most common cocktails in the U.S. and then aggregated Google Trends data from over the past year to find the most searched cocktail in each state.
Lo and behold, here is every state’s favorite cocktail of the pandemic.
