season 3 is the BEST shameless season idc it’s not appreciated enough

season 1 is is nostalgic and funny

season 2 has immaculate summer vibes

season 4 is depressing and cinematic

season 5 is depressing but also funny

season 6 is chaotic and has a storyline where frank is terrible to debbie

season 7 is underrated and gallavich is there but it’s secretive

season 8 has someone becoming a gay icon and cutting off a toe

season 9 has cps and a lot of drama as well as prison

season 10 has a major gallavich storyline where mickey gets married

season 11 the house almost gets lost and debbie has to do wild shit to try to get it back

and what does season 3 have?? ALL OF THAT. ALL AT ONCE. in my opinion, it’s the best gallavich storyline, it’s the perfect amount of drama and comedy (shameless usually struggles with that balance), we get so many iconic storylines like svetlana and mickey’s wedding, the start of ian showing symptoms of bipolar, hymie, karen vs mandy (or karen x mandy LMAO), lip’s alcoholism, frank’s arrest and liver failure, the kids getting taken away, the sleepover, frank ruining debbie’s project, cousin patrick, kev and carol, kev and his ex wife, molly milkovich, and literally so much more

from one fem gallavivh enthusiast to another, mickeys comphet is so intriguing to me. I can see her acting just like mandy, but instead of using it as validation like her sister does, she does it to prove to herself she is into men, but I wonder how mickey and Ians relationship would kickstart, since mandy wouldn't flirt with ian,,, would it be like a "I saw u flirting with my bf so now im gonna threaten you" turned lesbian situationship or what?

The comphet with Mickey would be SO REAL. I can't see her bringing herself to actually full on date any guys, but like canon Mickey, might fuck around just to keep up appearances. I think that Mickey would still give Ian a hard time at work, and it could be a "you fucked around with this guy" (who Mickey may have slept with like, twice?) kind of a thing.

I was actually talking about this with @holymurdock, who suggested that it could also be maybe Mandy heard Lip and Karen calling her a whore, Ian happened to be there with them, and when Mandy vents about it to Mickey, Ian's the one she knows where to find. Doubtful that in this case the Milkovich brothers would join in, since it's "girly bullshit," but Mickey would definitely be down for some ass kicking to protect her little sister's name. The sluttier her own reputation, though, the better, because the less likely people are to find out she's a lesbian.

Regardless, I do think they'd still eventually make their way to the scrap fight in Mickey's bedroom, complete with tire iron, because it's far too iconic not to end up there. Which then of course turns into a lesbian situationship between them, although of course knowing Mickey she's gonna end up in juvie regardless of whether or not she terrorizes whoever Ian is sleeping with instead of Kash in this au.

Honestly there's just a lot of potential for all kinds of things to go down! I love the idea that fem gallavich would hit a lot of the same story beats, but they'd get there in different ways. Deliciously crunchy and oh so delightful 😉

Started watching Shameless a few years ago and never finished after season 8 Gay Jesus. Picked it up again in November 2023 and have been obsessed since.

1. What’s a fic you’ve read more than once?

You Can Bite Me by Shamelessquestions. I love the vampire trope so having arguably the most iconic author for the Gallavich fandom write something for it was a dream come true. And it did not disappoint.

2. What’s a gifset you always have to reblog?

I can’t really think of a specific gifset but pretty much anything that involves paralleling Gallavich’s first ever scene with one of them getting married or engaged is my shit. It’s the journey.

3. What’s a headcanon you can’t stop thinking about?

A headcanon that is my Truth and that I always stick to is that the first time Ian told Mickey he loved him was in 4x11 after Mickey came out.

4. What’s a fanart you love looking at?

5. What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration?

I have a thousand different fic ideas running through my head at all times 😭 But one that’s been lingering in my head lately in particular is a canon divergence where Mickey completes his time in prison after S6 but doesn’t try to contact Ian after he’s released. Years later, they run into each other in a different city when they’re both in their early thirties and married to other people. They decide to catch up and try being friends. However, they quickly realize that the romantic feelings never fully went away and things spiral into them having an affair with each other. It’d be a super messy fic but would capitalize on the aspect of them being magnetic soulmates who ultimately can’t stay away from each other no matter the circumstances.

6. What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else?

Hmmm…tbh I can’t really think of anything in particular for this question

7. What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of?

I’ve said this before, but Gallavich is one of those ships that I feel like can fit into a large pool of AU’s. That being said, I would personally like to read more enemies to lovers and/or rivals to lovers. I kinda get why it’s a little rare since in canon, Ian/Mickey definitely are a friends with benefits to lovers type trope. But I can’t help it…I love reading fics where two characters fucking hate each other before falling in love lol

8. What’s your favourite season? And has this changed after multiple rewatches of the show?

S4. And it’s pretty much been that way since the first time I watched the show. Mickey is my fave so I’m definitely biased considering it was arguably his best season.

9. What’s a plot hole you wish had been answered or resolved?

I would have liked to have gotten to know more about Mickey and Mandy’s mother. I guess in a way it is kind of fun that the fandom can have their own headcanons about her. I kind of have a headcanon that Mickey and Mandy have a different biological mother than the rest of the Milkovich siblings because they look alike but both look different from Terry.

10. What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough?

This is another hard one because I personally feel that the fandom does a pretty good job of discussing and analyzing all of Ian and Mickey’s important scenes. I guess maybe the “you’re just a warm mouth to me” scene in S2. It gets overshadowed as far as angsty scenes go considering everything Ian/Mickey go through in their relationship later. But I feel like it was their first big heartbreak with each other.

11. What line/dialogue/description from something else (a poem, a book, a tv show, a movie, or something else) do you feel describes Ian and Mickey’s relationship?

"When you meet the right person, you know it. You can't stop thinking about them. They are your best friend and your soulmate. You can't wait to spend the rest of your life with them. No one and nothing else can compare." (From How I Met Your Mother)

12. What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale?

I think they stay in their westside apartment for a little while but ultimately do decide to move out when their lease is up. They end up getting a decent place back in the south side, after both of them admit they miss it. Ian brings up the idea of them having kids from time to time but the idea still makes Mickey nervous. They compromise by deciding to try out being pet owners first and get a cat and a dog. (The cat being a stray they find on the streets and the dog adopted from a shelter). They run their security business for a while but eventually Mickey does encourage Ian to try something new, knowing his husband has a hero complex and might not be fully satisfied with a career that doesn’t involve him helping people. What that is, I’m not entirely sure. I’d like to see him go back into the medical field but I don’t know how feasible that is with him being a felon. But hey, it’s also the Shameless universe so anything is possible.

✨WIP Wednesday✨

Thought I’d post a little snippet of my currently unposted wip, tentatively titled “left and right”! It’s an AU that branches off from season 7, but takes place a decade after Mickey left for Mexico! I’m about 5 chapters in, so we’ll see when it gets posted haha, let me know what you think!

(1) new message

Ian almost ignores it.

He’s ready to collapse by the time he gets home, and it takes all of his remaining energy to drag himself onto the rickety old porch and up the staircase he’s been climbing since he was in diapers.

Five minutes of showering, two minutes of teeth brushing, and a quick change into a fresh pair of boxers and Ian’s falling onto the lumpy mattress in the room that used to belong to Fiona, and then Frank, and then Fiona again. Now it’s his. The whole house is.

Out of habit, he swipes through his phone in the dark, one eye open, squinting into the harsh yellow light. Ian sees the little red (1) in the corner of the Facebook messenger app icon- he forgot he had the thing downloaded in the first place.

Even though he hardly had much of an online presence- except for Grindr- he knows it’s all Instagram, Twitter and TikTok nowadays. He’s always been sorta private, and the paranoid delusions hadn’t helped. Good thing he’s medicated now, and has been for years.

Into the double digits now.

For some reason, Ian hovers over the icon. It’s probably someone from his highschool reaching out to sell him a pyramid scheme. He’s tired, he’s had enough of the day.

He probably shouldn’t even waste his own time.

Ian taps the app anyway.

It takes his phone way too long to open it, because it hasn’t been forced to load the internal assets for MONTHS. When everything finally arranges itself, Ian can see a message in bolded text at the very top of the list. His eyes scan over the name, over the message. One time. Two times. And a third time before he realizes he’s not misreading anything.

Mandy Milkovich: Hey. I know it’s been a while. FB is the… (9:42)

Ian’s not sure what he should do. He can’t see the full message without pressing on it and opening up the conversation, but if he does that, then he knows she’ll see the message has been read. As much as he’s terminally curious about what the rest of the message entails, Ian doesn’t know if he’s willing to dive back down the Milkovich rabbit hole.

For a lot of reasons.

Interstellar Ian - gallavich kid’s show au

i can’t find a discord server to ramble about a gallavich-centric au i’m working on so i’m gonna ramble about the concept here. I am writing a fic for it so I’m not gonna go in depth on the specific plot points, just the idea/background/set up

if you are interested in specifics, though, i’ve already posted a few excerpts from chapter one on this blog under the tag ‘Interstellar Ian AU’.

so seriously hear me out here

ian gallagher is the host of a kid’s show in the same vein as Lazy Town, Blues Clues, etc. He serves as the host who takes the viewers through adventures in a space setting in a show he scored when he was fifteen: Interstellar Ian. it’s on PBS Kids, which is a educational kid’s channel here in the US that is publicly broadcasted and easily available to everyone for free via libraries and youtube and such. shows like Arthur and Sid the Science Kid aired there. it’s actually a really good resource for low-income families with kids but that’s a rant for another day. ian’s show is on their roster!

Frank scammed his way into getting Ian one of his first minor roles when he was fifteen but from there, it was all Ian working his way up. Being an actor screws with all of Ian’s plotlines/erases them even down to the earliest episodes in season one, but most of the rest of the show’s canon still plays out the same except the family’s financial strain isn’t as high for a couple years while fiona uses his income for the household.

it kinda evens back out once ian is an adult and moves into a little apartment closer to set and becomes independent. Ian continues hosting this show into his early adulthood, even though it’s starting to become evident by season eight of Interstellar Ian that they are starting to run out of fresh content and maybe should’ve wrapped it up a few years ago.

Instead of dating Mickey first, Ian actually meets Trevor (trans guy from around season six/seven) FIRST bc he costars on the show during some of the earlier seasons. they have a secret relationship and it eventually goes public, drama, drama, drama, and oops Trevor isn’t an actor anymore and he goes on to open his shelter/queer youth program. Ian and Trevor are on good terms by the main timeline of the fic though

ian remains host of the show and after the initial drama, he becomes well known as a queer icon/actor, especially for young ppl who watch the show/grew up watching it

During the filming of season seven of interstellar ian, Ian also messes around with the new director on set: Caleb the ex firefighter. They don’t get caught or anything but there is still drama and they decide to step back and Not Do That Anymore

Ian has a Thing(tm) for messing around with cute guys on the set of his show and he swears off of it forever.

forever lasts until there is a new electrician hired to the set, reformed criminal!mickey milkovich

in this universe, mickey decided to stop being a major nuisance to the world because mandy got custody of their half-sister from earlier in the show, Molly, and he wants to be able to help them out or at least not cause more problems for them. so he took a course and is a certified electrician who signs a contract with the show because he needs long term + stable work.

Ian can’t drive. he just doesn’t have a car, he never got a license because he got caught up in the acting thing gig around the age that he should’ve gotten it and now he has too much pride to do it. so he leaves the set an hour or two later than basically everyone else. everyone knows this, he was even given a key to the warehouse they film the show in because of it

so, when mickey starts showing up as the actors and crew are leaving to fix flickering lights and switch around wiring, the star of the show is still just There. because despite being famous and rich, his main form of transportation is the public kind and that’s inconsistent

ian and mickey meet due to this overlap in schedules and ian spends the first chunk of the fic struggling because he doesn’t wanna mess around with another guy from set and cause unneeded drama, while mickey seems to like him- but not because he’s an actor/minor celebrity, just because he’s “pretty or whatever”

that’s the general gist of what’s going on, but some other cool details include: svetlana stars as ian’s hairstylist/makeup artist who faked her way there with a forged cosmetology certification, mickey has one pierced ear and maybe a cat, ian takes care of franny a lot + mickey steps up for his younger half sister: molly (so you get like, familial/dad-like gallavich at a few different points), the fic is ian centric and in his pov, and there is a multi-chapter gap in the fic where gallavich “aren’t dating” but are basically in a relationship and I know some of you guys love that trope based off of most of the fics i’ve read in this fandom

I think that’s all I wanna reveal but if you have questions or thoughts, feel free to reblog/send me an ask with them! the plot plan for this thing includes 15 chapters total and i’ve written 4 of them in their entirety. I’m thinking i’ll write all/most of the fic before I start posting it, but we’ll see what happens!
