I haven't seen a lot of fanart for Buliara which is a shame cuz she's so cool! So I drew my head canon of her being Riju's mother figure

i need more interactions between botw link and the gerudo like. riju and him go sand surfing every second weekend of the month and it's a whole thing for the town because that's their chief vs their favorite token hylian vai and no matter who wins, everyone's having a great time. or sometimes isha sends link home with more hydromelons than his sheikah slate can carry because in a land of scarcity, giving gifts is the language the gerudo choose to love in. and don't get me started on buliara who definitely has a rivalry thing going on with him based on who can protect riju the best; from a distance it looks like they hate each other, but really they would fight for each other as comrades. funnily enough, neither of them end up "doing better" at protecting riju — in the midst of their attempts to defend her from a molduga, she ends up electrocuting it three times on her own. and all link can feel is this vague sense of deja vu, like he's seen this display of raw power before.

MFW people call my Riju cosplay "Urbosa" 😂 With her being such a big character in TotK, I'm shocked it still happens so often.

I haven't worn Riju other than this 2020 shoot; and honestly the pics are PERFECT so that's fine. The moment I'm ready to do TotK Riju, I'm modifying this costume & shipping this wig back to Rose to restyle into her TotK haircut for me XD But I still haven't even played Tears yet! I played BotW 3 years after it came out, so I suspect it will be the same for Tears for me 😅

Three am sketch of Makeela Riju according to our first look of her leading up to the game’s release! She’s growing up so fast :’) but not fast enough to wear. that. >:(

This is just a rough version, I will likely be editing and refining this later, but for now, here! I think the short hair really suits her tbh I like it :) Also I made her crown smaller a) because in our version she’s still a princess not the chief bc she’s too young to claim the throne still, and b) this version looks less like it’s going to fall off her head any time she moves. Also I couldn’t resist giving her a cape hehe

I've been a fan of her work for a long time and I was so freaking excited to get to see her Urbosa and Riju in person! They are two of my favorite characters from BotW/TotK and her cosplays were absolutely STUNNING up close.

She was so wonderful and gracious to talk to and I really enjoyed getting to hear some of the behind-the-scenes of her work in cosplay, fashion, and concept art in her Q&A panel.

Riju with an astronomer reader (gender neutral) who takes her stargazing?

She doesn’t go outside the town much at all, her job as chief keeps her busy. She goes outside town even less at night because of the freezing cold of the desert.

However, bring some blankets and some warm gear and she’ll go outside with you.

You don’t go far outside the town’s walls but Buliara insists on staying within a certain radius of you just in case.

She stays out of earshot and keeps her back to you mostly, trying to give you both as much privacy as she can while still doing her job.

Riju will cuddle up next to you and shiver regardless of how much you prepare.

She’ll probably make a comment about how “This must be why seals have so much fur, it’s freezing.”

After a while of body heat sharing and enough kisses, she will start asking you questions with a flushed nose.

You’ll point out stars and constellations and she will ask you the story behind every name.

Some constellations she’ll have to have you draw out with your finger in the sky to get the shape.

Others she will be insistent that they don’t make any sense at all.

There will be a lot of teasing and a lot of laughter.

At the end of the night, she will not want to get up because you’re just so cozy even though she will burn up as the sun rises and she’s still wearing layered furs.
