(this theory is me either cooking or getting cooked :D)
So this has been question that has been bothering me for a while now which Bad himself pointed out during one of the ghostie following EGGS.
Significance of us holding the sugarcane?
So I tried to fine the answers in mythology as always (I hate mythology digging but when your streamer is a demon both in lore and irl what can you do *sigh*)
So after tons of researching till my eyes go square I got some answers in Hindu Mythology or atleast found a refrence to sugarcane in that one.
So there is an important event in Hindu mythology called Samudra Manthan or Churning Of The Ocean.
The Samudra Manthan, also known as the Churning of the Ocean, is a famous episode from Hindu mythology that appears in the Vishnu Purana, Mahabharata, and other texts. In this mythological event, the gods and demons join forces to churn the cosmic ocean in order to obtain the nectar of immortality .To churn the ocean, the gods and demons use Mount Mandara as the churning rod and the serpent Vasuki as the rope. As they churn, various treasures and beings emerge from the ocean.
So one of the things that came out of the churning was Kalpavriksha (tree of life or w divine fulfilling tree)
The Kalpavriksha, or Kalpataru, is a mythical tree that is believed to grant wishes and fulfill desires. In Hindu mythology, the Kalpavriksha is often associated with the churning of the ocean and is said to have emerged from it. The Kalpavriksha symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and the fulfillment of wishes. Its branches are believed to bear fruit that grants whatever one desires, similar to the concept of the Tree of Life or the Tree of Knowledge found in other mythologies.
The event of churning the ocean itself was a symbol of the eternal struggle between good and evil, the quest for immortality, and the cyclical nature of creation and destruction.
So in short the symbol of sugarcane according to this+
1) abundance of blessings and the sweetness of life that the divine bestows upon devotee
2) symbolizes the fulfillment of desires and the granting of wishes by the divine
3) believed to offer spiritual nourishment to the soul, uplifting and purifying the devotee's consciousness
4) Sugarcane is a fast-growing crop that regenerates quickly after being harvested. In this sense, it symbolizes renewal, regeneration, and the cyclical nature of life and creation. It reminds devotees of the eternal cycle of birth, death, and rebirth in Hindu cosmology.
Now I don't know how deep does the lore significance of the sugarcane in hand go. But what I do know is that sugarcane has very less representations in mythology (almost close to none tbf) and Hindu mythology is the only one I could possibly find.
Another sugarcane representation in Hindu mythology is about Goddess Laxmi, who also was one of the three goddess that emerged from churning of the ocean event.
Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and fortune, is often depicted sitting on a lotus flower holding sugarcane stalks in her hands. Sugarcane symbolizes the sweetness and abundance of blessings that Lakshmi brings to her devotees.

“Eight years ago, he amassed our wealth on three ships to sail to Bharat for invaluable spices and cloth.” The naga were sprung from a nightmare. Covered in dark scales and nothing more, they were a horrendous combination of serpentine features and male humanoid bodies whose powerful arms ended in polished black, flesh-shredding talons.
People like pointing out stuff by SJM which was inspired by other stories so here's mine: Bharat is another name for India, and India is the king of spices and cloth, so that's obviously the inspiration here. Two, the naga are inspired by creatures in Hindu-lore. In the story of the Mahabharata, the Naga are snake people who live beneath the human world. One of the main characters in that story, Bheema, encounters the Naga who nearly kill him but then end up gifting him with the strength of thousands of elephants (long story). Clearly not original either, Sarah.

Besides Arjuna who do you think is the best Archer?
-anujra (mirror dimension arjuna)
Ok stupidness aside I think arash is 100% up there as a viable contender. The arrow he shot literally traveled for days before landing and also ended a war with no bloodshed so he’s at least worth being considered l.
While rama isn’t given an archer class in fate bc of (insert lore) and for my own sanity I don’t really want to include every other guy who could class as an archer I feel like not including a god known for his sheer skill in archery would be remiss. In all honesty, he would probably be better than arjuna if he was allowed to be an archer.
Durga is one of those ones where her being classed as an archer isn’t really my first pick for her but also saying she wouldn’t be at least as good as/better in archery than arjuna would also be kind of ridiculous, so I’d also say she’s a possible choice? That being said, most of her more notable stories where she defeats enemies typically involve some kind of spear so if you wanted to say she was more focused on that I wouldn’t disagree either.
If Artemis was more artemisy she would easily be up there as she was a goddess of hunting known for her skill with the bow, but fgo doesn’t really focus on that as much with orion having more of the archery skill. I actually read something the other day that suggested her fgo version was conflated more with Selene which tbh did track with me given her situation
If altera was more atilla like she COULD be a contender bc the Huns were known for their skill in mounted archery but as it is she hasn’t really shown anything to indicate that’s something she’s good at. I don’t really count the candy cane sheep thing.
Tametomo is also decently strong, I think sinking a ship with a bow is a pretty cool feat. I wouldn’t really put it on the same level as arjuna’s own skills (looking at you FATE GRAND ORDER) but he definitely was talented and powerful
Bhima and karna were also both very good archers! I don’t know if they were on the level of arjuna but they both could easily class as one and dominate some of the other archers. Ashwatthama was also very good but by his own admission in the Mahabharata he didn’t think he was on the same level as arjuna.
Kama would be another one who would be very good at archery, although her ability is less ‘martial prowess’ and more ‘does it a lot as it’s her job’ so that may effect things
None of this matters tho bc sei shonagon clears 😤😤😤

Kala from Hindu mythology.
Kala is often used as one of the epithets of Yama. In Shaivism, Kala is known as the fiery avatar of Shiva Kala Bhairava or Kalagni Rudra; and in Vaishnavism Kala is also associated with Narasimha and Pralaya (dissolution of the universe).
Kala appears as an impersonal deity within the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and the Bhagavata Purana. In the Mahabharata, Krishna, one of the main characters, reveals his identity as Time personified. He states to Arjuna that both sides on the battlefield of the Kurukshetra War have already been annihilated. At the end of the epic, the entire Yadu dynasty (Krishna's dynasty) is similarly annihilated.
Kala appears in the Uttara Kanda of the Ramayana, as the messenger of Death (Yama). At the end of the story, Time, in the form of inevitability or necessity, informs Rama that his reign on Earth is now over. By a trick or dilemma, he forces the death of Lakshmana, and informs Rama that he must return to the realm of the gods. Lakshmana willingly passes away with Rama's blessing and Rama returns to Vaikuntha.
Time appears in the Bhagavata Purana as the force that is responsible for the imperceptible and inevitable change in the entire creation. According to the Purana, all created things are illusory, and thereby subject to creation and annihilation, this imperceptible and inconceivable impermanence is said to be due to the march of Time. Similarly, Time is considered to be the unmanifest aspect of God that remains after the destruction of the entire world at the end of a lifespan of Brahma. According to Soifer, Narasimha is explicitly linked with Pralaya or Yuganta itself in Bhagavata Purana, Linga Purana, and Kurma Purana versions; he is said to appear like Kala or the fire of destruction, both agents of Pralaya.
The Vishnu Purana also states that Time (kala) is one of the four primary forms of Vishnu, the others being matter (Pradhana), visible substance (vyakta), and Spirit (Purusha).

“Osakothi murals in terracotta is a perfect jugalbandi among Odia crafts. Depicting scenes from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the stories of Jagannath and local lores these folk illustrated pots and jars are used in festivals and rituals in Ganjam and Puri regions. However the tradition is almost extinct now and thanks to the efforts of Kalabhoomi these have become accessible to all of us to appreciate this timeless Odia Craft.”

(to game master) ok so I just found your blog and omgggg there's So Much Going On this is the coolest thing ever!
wanted to ask about smth that caught my attention~ what do the mt. sumeru's characters' titles mean? yudhishthima, sahadeva, those ones
ejjwke sorry I won't go deep into the details but omg I'm so happy someone asked! It's from Mahabharata (The Great Journey)!!! It's a rather long story but it can be an interesting read. It's not too relevant in Mt. Sumeru's characters since in the lore they're just titles given to those who are the representatives of their respective universities. I'm specifically using the Mahaprasthanika Parva chapter.
Buuuuuut reference-wise, the titles might be a foreshadowing of the fate these 6 characters will go through (that still depends on the players though.) This story is also the reason why I made Sumeru a mountain in this universe.
Tumblr media
Dw, there is ZERO need for you to read the book to enjoy the blog lol. I just think it's nice to acknowledge Sumeru's Indian roots

I assume you've talked about hjm in serphmissive but I am too lazy to scroll up drop the lore of the twink you're posting here real quick
i literally need to give the biggest disclaimer known to man here. i do not play fgo. everything i know about him is thru people who Do play explaining him to me, wikireading, and tumblr posts. yes i am part of the problem i am the exact type of person i complain about who doesnt consume the source material and only gets their knowledge secondhand. However. fgo is a gacha game. So that nullifies any moral guilt i might feel. but ill also be so embarassed if anyone who actually plays the game sees this and fact checks me. hasarjunadoneanythingwrong if this shows up in the tags please scroll past this i'll cry
but ive literally read the bhagavad gita so thats at least +10 elitism points. but i digress.
Tumblr media
this is arjuna. everyone say hi arjuna. he's the greatest hero of the mahabharata, the indian epic. actually, hi digital devil saga fan, he's the son of indra, and his bow, gandiva, was a gift from agni. in the bhagavad gita, he's a warrior forced to kill his family members on the other side of the war. he basically commits himself to being the perfect warrior but he isn't allowed to be an actual person. in fgo in particular, i'm told, this manifests into a particular obsession with his brother karna, thinking of them as fated rivals. he's proud, noble and dignified, and diligent, but he's awkward with matters concerning himself. he's very concerned with appearances and how a hero should act, what people think of him, being loved. he has what he considers a "dark side" which is that he'll do anything for victory, for his pride, including underhanded tactics which are unbefitting of a hero. he initially says his wish from the holy grail is eternal solitude, basically so he doesn't have to worry about what people think of him anymore. then, after you, his master, see his dark side, and still accept him for who he is, his wish changes--to remain with you until the end.
i love him because hes basically a subversion of another certain archer i love. fate sure loves its archetypes but he really is so different from him. im not saying his name because ive been forcing some people who follow me to watch ubw but if you know then you know who im talking about. anyway arjuna is my poor little meow meow and hes also the most beautiful fgo character no question like no one would ever argue with me its just objective fact. you know i love guys with a facade, and i also love guys who are cocky to hide their insecurities. amd the fact that hes so deeply deeply sad and lonely under all of that is basically the perfect combination

THOSE TWT LINKS AREN'T OPENING 😭😭😭
You mean ghatak or whtv the name of the movie was but the first part was superior alr idek why they decided to make a second part. Bruh it was painful to watch i just hope this one is much much muchhh better.
Nahh ur right, i was at first shocked when I saw Vicky x Sara but ..ig she fit the role. I hope her acting has improved. And as of Varun, he is a good actor but sometimes ykkkk...things just don't work. His recent movie bedhiya...i never watched it. I want to but I'm afraid I'll get disappointed 😭
Yess, during soty, i immediately became a sid girl BCZ HE WAS TALL, HE WAS BETTER, HE WAS THAT GUY!! and yet PPL fell for Varun *smh* but I'm glad everyone is realising what they hv to.
What is tht movie poster? Never heard of it but I'm pretty sure it'll be better thn adipurash BCZ WHAT EVEN IS THT MOVIE??? they literally took 6 months off to 'improve' and 'correct' their mistakes WHAT DID THEY DOO?? They made it worse 😭😭. And plus if they don't know how to use VFX in an appropriate amount why do they even bother??? And saif Ali Khan as the Ravan 😭😭 look i hv no complaints abt the actor and actresses chosen BUT THEY RUINED RAMAYANA! growing up, I've watched many animated spiritual movies based on ramayan or any other lore like lord Krishna, Mahabharata but adipurash......uh-uh. first they said it was based on ramayana then they literally changed their words saying it has taken 'inspiration' frm ramayana.
What's disappointing it came from the same director who directed Tanhaji. Can u believe it? AND WHAT EVEN IS KRITI DOING HERE?? 😭😭😭 Did not expect this from her but ig every actor has a bad movie.
But ykw I'll still watch it..obv after it's been released just for laughing out loud don't judge me.
But i rewatched 10 things i hate abt you....and I've fallen in love again with heath ledger 😭😭 THE ACCENT, THE DEEP VOICE AUGHHH and tht damn promposal. It'd forever be on my wishlist bcz....Indian schools don't hv proms :') in short Indian schools don't hv fun things....they r uptight and all abt studying.
Yeah I've heard abt tht movie, but...we gotta wait YK, idek what to expect now!! BUT I'm not raising my standards again. Always expect the unexpected. "Rocky aur Rani ki Prem kahani" .... Kind of like "ajab Prem ki gazab kahani"
😭😭😭😭 i cn never escape tht movie. But what was ur first movie like what would u say was the first movie tht made a huge impact on u? Mine was...ajab Prem ki kahani :') i was obsessed. And three. My father bought like 2-3 dvds just so tht i could watch it on repeat. No wonder I became hopeless romantic in the future 😭 AND I used to say I'm going to marry Ranbir when I grow up LORDDDD my family members still tease me💀💀💀 imagine....a Punjabi family teasin u...it's hell.
And tht is why I like soft boys. Although my parents did tell me the first movie they took me to watch was "malamaal weekly" ..... Rlly? I was an infant!!! But I think my subconscious picked up on the genre...i like comedy ALOT!
NOOOO ill put them under the bar 😭😭
Tumblr media
and this
yeah the one! the first part was superior 90’s but the second part…he should stay away from movies and also the politics <3 the acting is overacting so i guess it fits her 😭😭😭 hoping she gets a role like geet from jab we met and hopefully she acts well for it <3
eh that recent movie of his is okay, funny at some aspects but i watched it bc it was in the stree universe but it was decent, like i get the vision, very twilight…but eh it’s alright id watch it again! arijit’s song saved imo 🤚🏻
SID WAS AND IS SUPERIOR!!!! from soty, ek villain, that one movie w pari, kapoor and sons + shershaah i like the way he chooses his projects but that omg movie w ajay devgan was not it 😭😭😭 i hope he goes into some action movies,,, like romcom actions, a mathew mcoughey style,,, like a mr and mrs smith movie w katrina or deepika (honestly want srk to do that movie remake w aishwariya so bad like imagine it being called mr and mrs khan 😭😭😭😭😭 A NEED A DESPERATE NEED !!!!)
that movie poster is the hanuman movie??? it looks nice from the poster, NO BC WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT MOVIE???? I FIRST THOUGHT ITS NOT THAT BAD BUT THEN I HEARD THE DIALOGUES ON REELS AND JUST ???? NO MF WAY THEY MADE HIM SAY TERE BAP KA???? EXCUSE ME??? THE DISRESPECT??? i got so pissed just from those lines like wtf u mean saif is ravaan??? honestly speaking saif can be the ravaan IF the vfx and his character was written nicely bc saif can deliver! “inspiration from ramanya” bro this a bhojpuri movie disguised as a bollywood one???
FROM TANHAJI???? damn,,, i didn’t like that movie 😭😭😭😭 so no wonder fbsndbskjclxhk
HEATH !!!! HEATH UR SO RIGHT HES SO 😭😭😭🤚🏻 I WISH TO SEE MORE OF HIS TALENT BUT ITS TOO LATE,,, THAT scene where he plays w the fire in the science room is forever engraved in my head,, don’t uni’s have formals?? then reels be lying to me then damn my school didn’t have proms but they did have annual day,, considered it my prom <3
YEAH im not putting my expectations very high,,, their paring seems to lack the chemistry just from that song release for me,,, like no emotion in the eyes that says love me,, no srk eyes 😭😭 and ranveer for don?? 🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️ ngl he suits villain roles but srk??? how u gonna do don without the don????
the first movie that made an impact on me was jab we met, ive watched that movie over 50 times now, it started my hopeless romanticness,,, something about the simplicity of meeting on a train, two complete opposite people finding themselves entangled w each others life??? yEAAAAAAH
LMFAOOOO SO EVERYONE HAD THE RANBIR PHASE SEE HE IS CHARMING AS FUCK BUT HES A PLAYBOY AND IM NEVER RHWNDBAK him w anushka >> LMFAOO IF UR FUTURE SPOUSE ISNT A RANBIR LOOKALIKE WE DONT WANT IT

*Happy Guru Purnima!*
*Guru Purnima is an Indian festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. This festival is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists to pay their reverences to their teachers and express their gratitude. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Aashaadh (June–July). The period 'Chaturmasya' ("four months") begins from this day.*
*The celebration is marked by ritualistic respects to the Guru (Guru Pooja). The Guru principle is said to be a thousand times more active on the day of Guru Purnima than on any other day. The Guru is very important in the life of a person. The word Guru is derived from two words, ‘Gu’ and ‘Ru’. The Sanskrit root ‘Gu’ signifies darkness or ignorance, and ‘Ru’ signifies the remover of that darkness. Therefore a Guru is one who removes the darkness of our ignorance.*
*"Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara,*
*Guru Sakshat Parabrahmah Tasmai Shree Gurave Namaha"*
*Guru is Brahma, Guru is Vishnu, Guru is Lord Maheshwara. Guru is the personification of the supreme power, I bow to the holy Guru in homage.*
*The above mantra clearly signifies that a Guru is trinity (Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh), and it is believed that through a Guru one can achieve the ultimate result and reach to the supreme power.*
*In yogic lore, it is said that Guru Purnima is the day that saw the birth of the Adi Guru, or the first Guru. This day is the birthday of Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa. This day is also known as Vyasa Purnima. In fact Vyasa Purnima was how it was originally known and it came to be known as Guru Purnima with the passage of time.*
*Sri Veda Vyasa has done exemplary service for the growth of Sanatana Dharma by classifying the four Vedas – the Rig Veda, the Yajur Veda, the Sama Veda, and the Atharva Veda, writing the eighteen Puranas, the great epic Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavatham.*
*Sada Shiva Samarambham*
*Sankaracharya Madhyamam*
*Asmad Aacharya Paryantham*
*Vande Guru Paramparaam*
*Beginning with Lord Sadashiva, through Adi Shankaracharya in between and up to my Acharya, I bow with reverence to the entire tradition of preceptors.*

For the ask game: 🧐🎶✨
🧐 I spend soooo much time researching my stories. I'm currently reading five history books on very different topics from a history of furniture to help me visualize my stories better and an illustrated version of the mahabharata. (The other ones are on the geography of the time of king arthur, william the conquerer, norse mythology, and lucrezia borgia.)
Just the other day I went down a welsh kings naming customs spiral for Rhysand too. But my current historical research hyperfixation is pirates.
I also don't know if this counts as research but I have taken some classes in japanese and chinese so I actually based a lot of my knowledge of those languages on the spring court language lore post.
🎶 I have to listen to music while I write. Ironically, the way I write is in my head. I iron out the scene with my thoughts and then put it on to paper. As a result I'm constantly listening to music and playlists that help me get excited to write a scene.
I actually have an acotar playlist I listen to a lot for my rewrite rn.
But the song I have on loop lately is The Devil & The Hunstmen. It gives me major acotar vibes but more specifically the bat boys. If we ever do get a TV show with them, I'm definitely going to do an MV for them with that song.
✨ This one's actually difficult but I'll try to write something different. Probably setting up a scene? By the time I get to actually writing something down, I pretty much know how I want to tackle it. So I think I'm good at visualizing a scene in that way? Everything written has a purpose for being there.

Most missed opportunities was not even including one of the pandava brothers. They really don’t want Arjuna close family and friends in the game. Now that I think about it I think the only close person to Arjuna is Parvati and maybe Ash? Since they were trained by the same teacher when they were kids iirc. Oh and it’s a wasted opportunity to not have Arjuna and Rama interact more. I want Arjuna to note the difference between Krishna and Rama. To see how Krishna is as a person.
fr we didnt get a flashback or even a namedrop of them or their fate in lb4 like the first time any of the pandavas were mentioned by name was by KARNA in karnamas like???? is arjuna under some spell of silence dude you literally existed as a set with them for 75% of your life what is going ON at this point im just praying road to lb4 drops a junao interlewd with massive lore implications bc god PLEASE
even ash is underutilized bc they like...barely acknowledge the giant huge fucking elephant in the room of Arjunas Murdered Kids He Fucking Murdered With Like 90% of Arjunas Other Allies like??? even the interlude where ash addressed his anger and the massacre tiptoes around this specifically like even if their interactions with each other were just 'avoids' 'avoids' 'avoids' 'forced to interact and then curses each other out for 15 minutes straight' that would STILL be a a step up bc then at least they would stop dancing around the fact ash literally warcrimed arjuna's family and friends to death over a single dude dying. like they trained together! they were presumably friends at one point! ash was like. the most normal guy for 80% of the mahabharata until he started killing there HAS to be weird feelings here over this even if arjuna got like. mindwiped from that part specifically when he was summoned and thats why his only interactions with ash are like 'hi :)' theres still got to be SOMETHING more???? over the fact they were like two of the only guys to live through the war?? instead we get ash being like 'yeah i regret losing my temper but id kill everyone again idc' and we get arjuna being like 'nice weather today :)' like ????
also ditto about rama. thats just weird on like 7 counts youd really think theyd have liked to run some parallels even ignoring the arjuna-krishna thing solely on the fact that they're both major focuses of the two biggest hindu epics. but also bc if they interacted more id be able to reverse engineer what krishna is like off of rama and im desperate for even a crumb of what fate krishna mightve been like

We were discussing Type:Moon introducing older Servants than Gil earlier so that's why I've chosen to send this to you, you can ignore if you so desire, but there's this one hero I've wanted to turn into a fanservant for a while and decided to insert him into a Holy Grail War fanfic and while doing research on said hero I just realized that in terms of chronology, this guy (tho scholars suspect he was fictional) would've been alive and heroing before Gil was born, which means I can give the boy an Actual Challenge besides Enkidu eheheheheheheheh--
Oh cool!!
You know, technically, though it was written after the epic of gilgamesh, the mahabharata takes place thousands of years earlier. I'm pretty sure the reason the divergence point of lb4 is listed as "??11900?" Is bc they can't say explicitly that it does take place around 11900 BC, bc that would mess up the lore. So they decided to just be like "maybe it's around then maybe it wasn't who knows"

The Himalayas are not only popular for the majestic peaks and the beautiful landscapes but they are also steeped in rich cultural traditions and heritage. The Har Ki Dun Trek offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the cultural richness of this Himalayan region. Trekking in Uttarakhand is a gateway to experiencing the vibrant culture and heritage that thrives amidst the snow-capped peaks and lush valleys of the region and the Har Ki Doon Trek stands out for the same.
In this trek, trekkers are welcomed into a world of ancient culture and traditions that blend beautifully with the breathtaking scenery. The journey through the remote villages, their age-old lifestyle, their customs, traditions, and daily rituals, offers a deeper understanding of the region's cultural fabric. Also, as you trek along the trail of Har Ki Doon, you come across ancient temples, intricately carved wooden houses, and stone structures that whisper tales of bygone eras. These relics serve as reminders of the region's storied past and the enduring legacy of its inhabitants. Here we have compiled a list of things that make Har Ki Doon Trek one of our favourite culturally-rich treks in Uttarakhand.
Historical Significance
Har Ki Doon is steeped in history and mythology, with references dating back to the Mahabharata era. According to legend, it is believed to be the place from where the Pandavas ascended to heaven.
Tumblr media
Folklores & legends
There are many legends and lores attached to the Har Ki Dun Trek which only increases the intrigue of your experience of trekking in India. The name ‘Har Ki Doon’ literally translates to ‘Valley of Gods’ in the local language. As you walk through the valley, you can see the Swargarohini Ranges in the distance, silently sharing the plight Duryodhan faced on his way to heaven. The locals will also tell you that Shiva himself walked this gorgeous valley leaving you with a sense of mysticism and awe.
Centuries-old villages
Along the trek, you will cross ancient villages like Osla and Gangad. The locals claim that the villages date back to as old as the time of Mahabharata. Crossing by the village, you will see many ancient structures that speak of a time gone by. Chat with the friendly locals and hear the tales they share. You will get a beautiful glimpse of their age-old traditions that have been carried forward throughout the years. When trekking in the Himalayas, one of the best things is that you come across such remote and ancient villages and it makes a wonderful experience, one to be remembered for a lifetime.
Tumblr media
Architectural marvels
Treks in Uttarakhand showcases many facets of rural life and architecture is surely one of them. When you go on the Har Ki Doon Trek, you will be surprised at the architectural marvels that you will come along. The village of Gangad beautifully presents the traditional architecture of the region.  The wooden houses in this village are extremely beautiful and will totally win your admiration. Also another fact about these buildings, the wooden houses are named according to their number of floors. Two-storey houses are called Dwipara, three stories are called Tripura and four stories are named Chaupara. Interesting isn’t it?
Rare temples
The Someshwar Mahadev Temple of Sankri is another must-visit place along the Har Ki Doon Trek. Treks in India are bound to feature some unique temples and this is surely one amazing example. Amidst the adventure hub of Sankri lies the Mahadev Temple, a timeless relic believed to be dating back to the era of Mahabharata. The locals also pray to their local deity in this temple.  Crafted with Deodar wood, and adorned with intricate carvings, this temple narrates tales of the rich history, culture, and traditions of the region.
Tumblr media
The vibrant fairs
Fairs or melas are a fun part of mountain life and when you are trekking in the Himalayas, at the right time, chances are you will come across one such vibrant affair. The fairs are usually filled with local customs and rituals and there is a lot of singing and dancing involved as well. There are two fairs that take place in the Har Ki Doon Trek region. One in January called the ‘Magh Mela’ and the other happens around the monsoon months. It is more intriguing as the fair takes place at nighttime where people come together and celebrate. This fair is also an opportunity for couples to elope! Believe it or not! People from poor backgrounds usually do this, where the couple spends a few days at a relative's home. Elders from the girl’s village arrive at the location and hear the girl’s side and then the marriage is given social acceptability if it is deemed proper by the elders. These rare customs of the remote confines of the Himalayas are quite intriguing and getting to witness them is truly remarkable.
The colourful textile
The villages that you cross along the Har Ki Doon trek will take you in awe in many ways. One thing that stands out quite a bit on this trail is the vibrant clothing the villagers are dressed in here. The villages have their own customary apparel and they weave it by themselves in wooden handlooms and dye the cloths using natural dyes. Some of these clothes are made from sheep wool and are very warm, keeping one cozy even in sub-zero temperatures.
So these are some amazing facts about Har Ki Dun that make it such a culturally rich experience. I hope you enjoy these facts and I am sure they make you want to go on the trek and experience everything yourself.
