Asklepios'un Horozları

Sokrates'ı yargılamak için kurulmuş mahkemeyi ilk düşünce suçları mahkemesi olarak görebiliriz. Atinalıları mevcut hükümete karşı kışkırtmak ve gençleri başka tanrılara yönlendirmekten suçlu bulunan ünlü filozof, özür dileyip affedilmeyi istemektense felsefe yapmayı ve erdemli davranış olarak sözlerinin arkasında kalmayı tercih ederek idamı seçmişti.

Sokrates, zehir içtikten sonra Platon'dan öğrendiğimiz üzere son cümlesinde öğrencilerine şunu söylemişti. "Asklepios'a bir horoz borçluyuz."

Filozof bu cümlesinde ne demek istemişti?

Mitolojide Asklepios, Apollon'un oğlu bir yarı tanrıdır ve Apollon tarafından yetiştirilmek üzere Kheiron'a verilir. Kherion, çocuğu tıp sanatında yetiştirir ve etkin biri haline gelmesini sağlar. Sonrasında ise Asklepios, sağlık ve tıbbın tanrısı olur.

Antik Yunan'da bir gelenek vardı. Hastalıktan kurtulan insanlar, sağlığına kavuşmanın adağı, minnet göstergesi olarak sağlık tanrısı Asklepios'a bir horoz sunarlardı. Bu geleneğe göre, ölürken Asklepios'a bir horoz borçlu olduğunu söyleyen Sokrates, yaşamı bir hastalık olarak gördüğünü ima ettiğini düşünebiliriz. O, yaşama hastalığından ölümle kurtulmuştur aynı zamanda da ölümlü yaşamdan kurtulan ruhu sağlığına kavuşmuştur.

Ahuitzotl from Aztec/Mayan mythology.

In one rendition, the Ahuitzotl emerges as the guardian of lakes, tasked with safeguarding the resident fish. Alternatively, other versions depict it as an envoy sent by the deities Tlaloc and Chalchiuhtlicue to gather the souls of favored mortals. The close association with water gods meant that those claimed by the Ahuitzotl were believed to be destined for the paradise of the god Tlaloc.

Legend has it that the Ahuitzotl would immerse itself in a lake or stream, emitting cries resembling those of a distressed child or frightened woman. A compassionate passerby, drawn to the sounds, would approach the water only to fall prey to the creature's lethal tail-hand. The Ahuitzotl would proceed to extract the victim's eyes, nails, and teeth, consuming them before discarding the lifeless body on the riverbank, where it would resume its eerie wailing.

In cases where a person was suspected of falling victim to an Ahuitzotl, only priests were permitted to handle the body. The prescribed burial involved placing the deceased in a house surrounded by water, known as "ayauhcalco." Legend warned that if a layman touched the body, they would either become the next target of the Ahuitzotl or face the affliction of gout.

Roma'nın Kökeni ve Kuruluş Mitolojisi

Roma'nın ünlü şairi Vergilius tarafından yazılan Aeneas Destanı, Roman tarihi açısından oldukça önemlidir. Bu destan, Roma şehrinin kuruluşunu ve aslında Romalıların kökenine değinir.

Bilindiği üzere Roma tanrıların çoğu Antik Yunan tanrılarıyla aynıdır, sadece birçoğunun ismi farklıdır. (Venüs - Afrodit, Athena - Minevra, Zeus - Iupiter gibi) Bu durum esinlenmekten ya da çalmaktan değil tam tersi Roma'nın kökeninin de Troya'ya dayanmasından kaynaklanır.

Aeneas Destanı'nın baş kahramanı Aeneas, Troyalı bir prensti. Harabeye dönen şehirden kaçarak Batı İtalya'da bulunan Latium'a ulaşır ve orada bir krallık kurar. Latinium Krallığı, Roma İmparatoruluğunun kurulduğu topraklarıdır ve imparatorluğun temellerini oluşturur, bu şehir imparatorluğa uzun süre başkentlik de yapmıştır.

Vergilius, Aeneas'ı tanıtırken onun annesinin tanrıça Venüs olduğunu söyler ve tanrıçanın Roma İmparatoru Augustus ile bir kan bağına sahip olduğunu da ekler. Destandaki bu detay da, Antik Yunan tanrılarının soy olarak Roma tanrıları da olduğununun göstergesidir.

Roma'nın kuruluşu ile ilgili bir diğer mit-destan ise ünlü Romalı tarihçi Livius'a aittir. Livius, miti de aslında Aeneas'a dayanır.

Antik Roma'nın aile tanrıçası olan Vesta adına ailelerin küçük kız çocuklarından seçilen ve adlarına Vesta Bakireleri denen bakirelerden Aeneas'ın soyundan gelen Rhea Silvia, savaş tanrısı Mars'ın (Yunan mitolojisinde Ares) tecavüzüne uğrar. Bu olay sonrasında ise ikiz oğulları olur. Anne, bir tecavüzün sonucu olan ikizleri, nehire bırakıp boğulmaya terk etmek zorunda kalır. Dişi bir kurt tarafından bulunup emzirilen ikizler Romulus ve Remus sonrasında bir çoban tarafından evlat edinilir. Büyüdüklerinde bir şehir kuracaklarının hayaliyle büyüyen çocuklar, bu şehre de Roma adını vereceklerini daha henüz küçükken karar vermiştir. Büyüdüklerinde ise kardeşlerden Romulus kurulan şehrin, Roma'nın ilk kralı olmuştur.

The Grey Man of Ben MacDhui.

It normally stalks its victims until they realize that it is following them, and then it chases them. This is a common pattern. It walks on two legs and runs, like a normal person.

The Grey Man is frequently encountered on the mountain, but sightings also extend to Rothiemurchus Forest near Aberdeen. References to these mysterious 'Grey Men' date back to the 13th century, and numerous climbers over the years have reported seeing, hearing, or sensing the presence of the Grey Man.

Often the Grey Man is encountered in physical sensation, but without a true physical form. Sensations of this type include vast, dark blurs which obscure the sky, strange crunching noises, echoing footsteps which pursue the listener, an icy feeling in the surrounding atmosphere, as well as a physical feeling of a cold grip on, or brush against the observer's flesh. There is also a high-pitched humming sound, or the singing as it is sometimes called, which is associated with Ben MacDhui and the Grey Man.

Additionally, the Grey Man has an extremely powerful psychic effect. Visitors to Ben MacDhui report a feeling of overwhelming negative energy. Occasionally, this is described as extreme lethargy and despondency. More often, it is typified by acute fear, apprehension, and an overwhelming panic, leading to suicidal thoughts or physical flight from the area. Generally, this fear is accompanied by the physical sound of echoing footsteps chasing the observer and sometimes the sound of a resonant and yet completely incomprehensible voice, which seems to be faintly Gaelic in nature.
