While they were not too far separated from one of the larger clusters of all out combat, it was far enough for a magic user to be considered vulnerable and Lloyd was going to take the chance that had presented itself to him. While there were some other Golden Deer nearby, many were occupied in the larger battle going on to their right and the only other one that could possibly help was engaged with a Blue Lion.

In a largescale battle like this, you took out healers and ranged foes first and then tightened the field up where you could.

"It's nothing personal. You're in a bad spot, and it's advantageous to take you out now before you can snipe at my allies."

This is just his luck, isn’t it?

Odin thought to grab an advantageous position away from most of the fighting. His plan was to lay low and swoop in for the dramatic finish, skipping all the boring beginning squabbles and getting straight to the most dramatic part!

But the appearance of another blonde throws it out the window. Such is life.

Try as he might to bring up his arms and block the blow, the curved blade of a Killing Edge is not to be trifled with. It slashes through sleeve and skin alike, drawing rivers of aching blood with but a single stroke.

“A-argh!” he grunts, clamping his mouth shut to stifle some of the pain. Lloyd lands a really good hit, nearly sapping Odin of his strength, and it gets bonus points for being made unaware.

“You, gah! O Warrior of Enveloping Darkness, you have made a dangerous enemy this day!” Despite it all his heart is dead-set on vengeance, looking to reclaim its lost blood with some of the Fang’s. “Face your retribution... At the hand of my Profane Pulverizer!”

Odin (2/5) attacks Lloyd with Thoron! Roll: 3, Miss! -0 HP (Lloyd 6/6)

Flexing his hand and bouncing sparks of arcane energies between his fingers, Odin quickly prepares a toke of his mightiest magic to fling at the swordsman.

But it misses.

A long silence follows in its wake, Odin’s eyes cringing when his bolt connects with the ground and a gigantic burst of thunder is wasted on nothing. He sort of coughs and straightens out after the display, channeling forth a do-over.

“(Let’s just try that again, okay?) AHEM...! at the hand of my Profane Pulverizer!”

Odin (2/5) attacks Lloyd with Thoron! Roll: 21, Crit! -6 HP and Poison Strike, -0.5 HP (Lloyd 0/6)

There it is. This time, that havoc of righteous fury aims true and delivers Lloyd’s punishment straight to his chest. Where the lightning struck, a gnarly scar of necrotic flesh signifies a dark touch to Odin’s magic. Laced in each bolt of lightning is a tiny dose of poison, so that when they all converge on an enemy they can accumulate into something deadly inside their system.

It’s a tactic he devised specifically for the event, so that his spells might feel a little extra sinister on the receiving end.

“Ha HA!” he shouts, having claimed a swift victory, “My darkness was darker than yours! Now with the souls of my slain foes as fuel for my vengeance, my power grows! I can feel it... SURGING INSIDE ME!”

Even without an audience to bear witness, he pulls himself into an energetic pose. If there’s even a flicker of consciousness left in poor Lloyd, he’d be wasting it watching himself be humiliated.

“The title of ‘Garreg Mach’s Strongest’ shall elude my fell grip no longer!”

[ Double mission, 1 skill point :: Safeguarding towns against the floods and mudslides of the rain calls for a lot of heavy lifting, but it’s rewarding work and it needs to be done. Reinforce houses, assist in handing out emergency supplies or building sand bag walls. The more hands, the better. [Grants Heavy Armor +1] AND While passing through a flooded riverbank (e.g. to help the village defend against floods as per Armor+1 mission), shouts are heard coming from nearby. There’s a family stuck in the river swollen with rainwater, their wagon tipped over, supplies washing downstream. But even more distressingly, their child is also caught in the rapids! Surely you have to help! Starter for @gallantgautier ; all dialogue and actions pre-verified in DMs. ]

It was the start of a new month in Fódlan, a month of seed-planting to exploit the advent of rain-showers that predated the spring; and it was a new month of missions for the students of Garreg Mach to undertake to support those of Fódlan’s villages already ravaged by premature downpours. The Goddess did not bless her lands equally in time nor quantity; thus while the academy itself suffered no such water-related disasters, nor did the majority of Bergliez or Empire lands to the south, some of the more northern reaches were sending requests to church leaders to send aid in their trying times. And so the church responded, enlisting the aid of its knights and of its students in the Black Eagle house for their cause.

None of this was on Caspar’s mind as he snuck through the bushes, trying his best to keep a certain individual in sight.

Sylvain Jose Gautier of the Blue Lions. Said to be the most irrepressible rake in all Garreg Mach history. Or at least the most irrepressible rake in this year’s class. Caspar didn’t really get why the guy was so popular, but he had to be doing something right to always be having those girls around, right? And if he had girls, he had to have gotten more at least once too, right? If he were to admit it, sometimes the boy wondered what that was like…

But those weren’t questions he could simply ask another guy straight to his face! Someone as cool as Sylvain was sure to laugh in his face if he did. I mean, look at him, Caspar thought to himself, pouting from his vantage point between the greenhouse wall and a hedge conveniently blocking any view of him from the descending stairs of the second-floor dormitory. He’s smooth, he’s confident, he’s tall… And look at those shoulders! His jaw gaped open as the redhead lowered his hands from their prior position behind his head. Why hadn’t he ever noticed that before? Even if their muscles seemed to be about the same size, there was just something about a bigger frame that made them seem so much more impressive. Caspar frowned as he flexed his own bicep, eyes flicking from between his meager showing and Sylvain’s. This far off, he could barely make out the words the other exchanged with his latest catch—something about flowers and tea and towns and junk—but words didn’t matter compared to all that. Was Sylvain on some secret training regimen that he’d never heard of? Could it possibly help him grow tall and broad too? Anything had to be better than Raphael’s plan; that one had gone decidedly south. Even if Caspar would never turn down a good meal or three, they hadn’t exactly gone where he’d been hoping…

Speaking of food, his stomach was starting to growl, and the midday sun beating down on his head and the back of his shoulders told him that it was about lunchtime. But if there was anything else he could gain from watching Sylvain… Wait a minute, he realized; the redhead and his girl were heading up the steps to the dining hall as well. Caspar waited until they were about a third of the way up before rising from his crouch and departing the greenhouse, trailing behind them at an inconspicuous distance.

By some twist of fate, Caspar ended up standing right behind Sylvain in the lunch line inside the dining hall. They were serving pheasant and eggs today, normally a dish Caspar adored, but at the moment his mind was distracted by the person standing right in front of him—or more precisely, what he had that Caspar didn’t. If he thought Leon was tall, Sylvain was even taller; this close, it seriously hurt to try and keep the top of his head in view. The robin-haired boy shook his head and tried to look straight ahead, but at his short stature, he couldn’t see anything beyond the bottom V of the gold design on Sylvain’s jacket. Neck cramp it was… And it seemed he’d been right about how the size of Sylvain’s shoulders; they seemed a good dozen centimeters wider than his own or so. And even though Caspar couldn’t recall seeing Sylvain in the training grounds too often (at least not while he’d been in there), he was certainly well built. If he’d gotten that far without effort, Caspar was jealous. He couldn’t resist a final glance between the redhead’s calves and his as the other sauntered off to join his date and the dining staff handed him his plate. The boy took a seat on the end of a different table and nibbled at his egg thoughtfully, wide robin eyes staring at nothing in particular. Just how did Sylvain do it, anyways? There had to be something he could use…

“Okay, what’s your deal, bud?”

“Huh?!” Caspar jolted; he hadn’t noticed anyone approaching him so suddenly. Robin eyes blinked wildly at the hulking figure in front of him, which ultimately resolved into a confused-looking Sylvain staring down at him with folded arms. Sylvain—?!

“You’ve been glaring daggers into my back for the past five minutes,” he continued, brow arching into what Caspar thought was vexation and maybe(?) a bit of hurt. “Did I do something to offend you that I’m not aware of?”

“Huh?! Ah, you, uh, did nothing wrong at all!” Caspar was distantly aware that he was babbling, but he couldn’t help it; somebody so tall and awesome and— was standing this close to him and this was not how he wanted their first conversation to go and— “I, uh, just had a question, buuut I noticed you were busy, so I’ll ask you later? Maybe?”

If anything, the look of confusion on Sylvain’s face seemed to deepen. “Uh, o…kay? If you say so.” He gave Caspar a final pensive look before returning to his table and his girl as if nothing had happened at all.

With Sylvain gone, a spell seemed to lift off of Caspar’s form, but that didn’t erase the utter embarrassment of the past few minutes from his memory. Oh, he was too embarrassed to finish his meal now! If only he could wolf it down quickly so he could go find somewhere to hide…

2020 Jan 20-25 Strength Provisioning

Week 7/XVIII (mixed: FST, 60)

My leg days I’d try to burn fat, then altered the program into stairs and treadmills, and returning to leg-presses or hack-squats, but was just starving and wanting gains. I was unprepared, now needing compound deadlifts and lower leg presses to focus on full recruitment, total muscle. For slow-negative reps, instead of only negatives, going to try tempo declensions. Calves feel better with slow-neg and volume next week. Right lat strain was painful, but one sided and could finish the whole session, with single sided lat pulldown easy two days later, but need rear delt gains to compensate left with obliques. Soy-enriched beef patties on potato bread, mustard.

Pressure, fuzzing about, at chest press turned tear down to bruise; should've showered prior, dirty;

/after massive headache, aspirin, reading glasses solved; kinda feels like hoist was heavy, back flexed to support, and w/o back warmup, overflexed it, a little raw, my quads are as stiff and glad sunday adds another day before leg day; need to work on entire left oblique connectivity, idk, slept 10 hours before eating and workout, and overthinking it, hurt myself, two major injuries, and a dozen smaller ones, toxicity from deep muscle tissue, by the time I got to the pulldowns, my back needed a posing flex bored waiting for the knot in my low lat to give up; the pressure helped deflate it, the cool healed it, but inflexible, and then the massive headache, intracranial prefontal right hemisphere at lobe divide.

Fatty eggs, stomach burns thru fats and carbs with it, talking to myself means hunger, but by then wouldn’t realize it to even stop by then, not my best session, forced me to work on left laterals tho, win inside a wound? So thirsty;

Preworkout - Really having a hard time with the food balance/intake, finding a safe energy and sleep levels, without starving and not knowing it, my stomach numb or inside out, or overfed and lethargic, if a car, the green zone keeps shrinking and controls aren’t as fine tuned as could be. The Mach-NX FPGA product family addresses the growing threat of firmware hacking attempts on systems, leading to the loss of customer IP. As bad actors continue to attack firmware, companies like Lattice Semiconductor need to constantly be upping its games to enable their customers to create cyber-resilient systems. Enter a new FPGA from Lattice. The Mach-NX is a high performance, low power FPGA product family aimed at dynamic, real-time, and end-to-end platform protection. This launch is the next logical step for Lattice on its low power FPGA journey and marks the third Nexus launch in a year. The company is uniquely positioning itself as a leader, if not the leader in low power FPGA security solutions, and this launch helps reinforce that.

Lattice has been delivering new security-focused FPGAs at a faster cadence than we are used to. Since FPGAs are incredibly flexible, it also gives Lattice the ability to expand its presence into different markets that need programmable security solutions. In recent memory, Lattice launched CrossLink-NX in late 2019, Certus-NX this past summer, and now Mach-NX. You can read my full write up on the Certus-NX launch here. Lattice was ambitious when it promised to speed up its launch cadence by 3x, and it has done just that in 2020. The company seems hyper focused on low power FPGA dominance as 2020 comes to an end, and its future seems bright.

As hackers continue to attack firmware vulnerabilities with nation-state budgets and “as a service” models, companies need a flexible, secure solution that can adapt and serve different industries and applications. That problem is the exact reason that Lattice developed its new security-focused FPGA, Mach-NX. The new Mach-NX FPGA family will build on the previous product, the Lattice MachXO3D family. The new Mach-NX product family will address future server platforms, computing, communications, industrial, and automotive systems. Like other Lattice Nexus products, the new Mach-NX FPGA will utilize the same 28 nm FD-SOI fab process. While not a bleeding edge geometry, the specialized FD-SOI process technology allows Lattice to deliver extremely energy-efficient solutions without sacrificing performance. I also believe this solution is much smaller than competing solutions. High performance while maintaining low power matters a lot when you consider that traditionally high-density FPGAs trade power for size. I’ve talked enough about application and product introduction; let’s get into the nuts and bolts of the Mach-NX.

The first goal of a security solution is establishing a Hardware Root of Trust upon boot, which the Mach-NX does. The Mach-NX FPGAs also give users real-time performance against security risks with real-time SPI monitoring. According to Lattice, the Mach-NX FPGAs can again recover firmware within microseconds, where other FPGAs can take 100s of milliseconds or even minutes to recover firmware.

The 384-bit encryption is a significant security upgrade from the 256-bit encryption we saw with the last generation products. This security level becomes essential, especially when considering the longevity of end products that would adopt the Mach-NX, which could be up to 10 years. As the number of attack vectors and cyber-attacks is increasing rapidly, security solutions need to adapt and become harder to hack. Another value that customers get from implementing Mach-NX FPGAs is customizing solutions specifically for their applications and use. Customers will be able to configure their FPGAs’ security using RISC-V and Lattice’s Propel Design Environment. I admire the way Lattice is positioning its Mach-NX solution as a first on, last-off, real-time, fully customizable solution for the customer’s unique needs. When you pair these solutions with Lattice’s security service, SupplyGuard, a customer’s system can be protected throughout the product life cycle’s duration.

All in all, Lattice’s new Mach-NX looks to deliver on its core value proposition and extends the capabilities of Lattice’s previous generation of secure control FPGAs. Attack vectors and hackers will continually evolve their attack methods, and as those change, I believe s Lattice’s solutions will volve to address those methods.

Since this time last year, Lattice has launched three FPGA product families built on its Lattice Nexus FPGA platform with no signs of slowing down. If you recall, since CEO Jim Anderson took the helm Lattice looks to have generated a tremendous amount of momentum with Lattice Nexus, as further reinforced by the launch of Mach-NX. Add to that the work the company has put in to round out its offerings with application-focused solutions stacks and software design tools, and it’s clear they are laser-focused on delivering on the promise of low power programmable leadership.

Quem diria, o congestionamento no caminho dos SUVs será tão intenso, que a extinção chegará para alguns modelos. No caso do Ford Edge, isso parece algo crível. A culpa aí é dos próprios SUVs e crossovers que, como ele, inundam o mercado americano.

De acordo com Sam Fiorani, da AutoForecast Solutions, não só o Edge, mas seu irmão Lincoln Nautilus podem dizer adeus por volta de 2023. Ele afirmou que a montadora de Dearborn já cancelou as novas gerações desses dois crossovers canadenses.

A própria fábrica de Oakville, em Ontário, estaria no jogo por conta dessa decisão. O motivo nem seria o custo – considerado mais elevado – de produção no Canadá, mas a quantidade de lançamentos que a Ford pretende fazer no mercado americano.

O Edge funcionava como um intermediário entre Escape e Explorer, contudo, com os lançamentos esperados para os próximos meses, o crossover que é vendido no Brasil, ficaria preso entre os novos produtos.

O Mustang Mach-E também exerce influência, assim como os próximos Bronco e Bronco Sport, de alguma forma. Matar um crossover como o Edge não seria algo impossível, mesmo que ele ainda venda bem nos EUA.

Em 2019, a Ford cortou Flex e Lincoln MKT para um futuro no portfólio. No caso da Lincoln, o Aviator aparece como um produto de imagem melhor que o Nautilus e vem com tração traseira nativa, deixando o crossover premium em desvantagem.

Na Europa, o Edge só vende por causa das compras corporativas, que rendem menos para a Ford. Ele também tem uma presença na China, onde até poderia continuar sob outra forma.

Além dos modelos citados como lançamentos próximos, a marca prepara um ou mais produtos sobre a plataforma modular MEB da VW, adicionando mais concorrentes ao Edge.

Sobre uma saída ao Canadá, Fiorani disse: “A menos que a Ford decida por um programa diferente para substituir o Edge, não há futuro para Oakville”. Lançado em 2006, o crossover já está em sua segunda geração, apresentada em 2015.

Bronco Sport: Com Maverick, Ford deve ampliar sua gama de SUVs aqui

O nome Bronco Sport não deve ser utilizado. Maverick é a bola da vez, de acordo com sites americanos. Apelidado de “Baby Bronco”, o modelo é um SUV que será fabricado em Cuautitlán Izcalli, onde atualmente o Fusion aguarda seus últimos dias.

O nome Maverick é um velho conhecido do mercado brasileiro, mas também foi popular nos EUA. Com foco mais no foro de estrada, mas ainda sendo um produto bem familiar e apto a viver nas cidades, o utilitário esportivo já foi visto rodando no Brasil e é uma possibilidade estar entre nós mais adiante.

Tendo importação sem imposto e aproveitando o vácuo deixado pelo Fusion e New Fiesta Sedan, o Ford Maverick pode vir junto com o Mach E, embora esse Mustang em forma de crossover elétrico atue numa faixa de preço bem acima! Feito sobre a plataforma do Escape, que deve desembarcar aqui em sua forma híbrida, o SUV tem bom potencial.

Seu estilo, que lembra bastante o Land Rover Discovery da segunda geração, seria uma proposta interessante acima do Territory, que será o rival do Jeep Compass por aqui. Nos EUA, se fala no EcoBoost 1.5 de três cilindros, mas também no EcoBoost 2.0 em versão mais completa. No diesel, o EcoBlue 2.0 seria a opção, ainda mais com tração nas quatro rodas. A transmissão automática, em transversal, deve ter oito velocidades, segundo os americanos.

Diferente do Bronco, o Maverick não será tão radical no off road e não fará uso de conjunto motriz em longitudinal, mas terá suspensão independente nas quatro rodas e porte maior que o Territory.

Pode ser que, entre este em versão a gasolina/flex e o diesel, o Escape Hybrid funcione como intermediário, uma vez que este deve custar na mesma casa do Toyota RAV4, seu rival natural.
