Just wanna share this on this #TastyTuesday, my daughter is ecstatic that there’s now a Lil’ Orbitz stall at the Lucky Chinatown Mall, our neighborhood mall. Her fave is the cookies & cream flavor; me, I prefer cinnamon. We also tried this new drink stall, Cha Tuk Chak. Emerald Thai tea and Royal Matcha with brown sugar jelly. Yum! >.<

So finally i was able to convince the kids to go with me to Binondo for a food giving for Lolos and Lolas we can find in the streets. I decided to ride the bus and jeepney going there. You are probably insane to bring a ride going to Manila specially going to Divisoria or Tondo as the only adult with 3 kids in tow but nope that's not the reason why we commute. These kids were somehow hesitant to go with me because of the weather which is a terrible 35 degree, plus the traffic and the jeepney ride. But i insisted and promised to tell them the reason why the experience will be rewarding.
Our first stop is at Mcdo Binondo. I bought snacks for the kids and then bought 13 burger mcdo and 13 bottled water. (13 because Keira is turning 13 this May) I intend to buy spaghetti but it will be difficult to hand carry 13 spaghetti meal while roaming the busy streets of Manila with tatlong batang ubod ng likot.
While we are dining, my nephew Lance asked me why we have to do this.
We love our kids so much. At the time of their birth, we want everything available for them. Good education, comfort, good food, luxury of traveling in a car even if they are just going to a nearby fastfood which could only take 15 min walk, branded clothes, expensive birthday celebrations (everyone is probably guilty of that) Toys that cost our arm and leg. Basically we want our kids to have the best of the world.
But life is not always comfortable. We may lose our jobs, we may lose all our savings, people we love will leave, people we trust will lie and hurt us, we could lose all we have and it would come to a point that we will fight for a piece of bread.
Kids now a days will eat at the table and will play with their food like it's a toy clay. Will order a lot of snacks and the expensive frappucino because they thought they could eat all but will just have one tiny bite and they are full, leaving the pastries at the dining. (That's probably the reason why i gained weight because i have respect for each morsel of food and ate my kids left over. So for a year now, i decided not to order a drink and snack for myself when we go out and just wait for them to tell me "mom
I am full, sayo na lang" thats why dining alone is so much fun because i get to eat what i really really like)
I have my 6 year old with me and though i know she will be uncomfortable with walking under the heat of Manila with her baby steps, i know she is tough and could handle the city.
They are pretty excited to start the day so our first stop is at the fountain near Binondo church and here's the photo of our first customer 🙂.
We went to Senguan Temple too to say a yearly prayer. To heal the heart of a stone and to all that is lost to finally find their way home. The kids get to light an incense and say their wishes. We went up to see the Medicine Buddha and prayed for our dear woman battling the Big C. We all prayed that she survive the C as she is such a courageous and caring woman that doesn't deserve this illness. Nobody does.
I only took 2 photos of the food giving for sharing. One lola, a jeepney barker almost hugged me but we are separated with barriers so i just reached out to her for her food. Thank you Universe for my long arms.
We ended the Manila day out with a merienda at the Lucky Chinatown Mall. The jeepeney ride from Binondo going to Buendia took us 2 hrs due to heavy traffic, while the bus ride from Buendia to Muntinlupa took us about 45 mins only. I told them that the whole ride was our day to day when me and my Ate commuted from home to St. Scholastica's College 6 days a week.
I knew they were exhausted when we finally reached home.
They seemed happy.
Someday, they will thank me for the experience.
Never did we pray that our kids experience empty tummies because we will make sure that they wont but i want to make sure too that they are prepared to endure it and they are tough to boot because life isn't always comfortable.
