FROM MY TIMELINES CONCEPT
Boy, am I falling in love with this paring idea. In the first iteration of the timeline, Ganondorf slays the hero - whose soulforce laid incomplete when separated from his shadow - in which Ganondorf extracted him within the Sacred Realm.
Instead of attempting to take the demon king by surprise in a last effort - Zelda implores Dark to return the master sword and turn back time in order to rewrite it.
In Timeline 2 - Sheik and Dark must work together to prevent the end of the Hero.
"I love to hate you"
"I'll take all of you. Any day."

I love the idea of exploring the shadow self - especially in such a weighted story like OOT. Imagine if Dark Link was exactly that - his extracted self - the accumulation of all the anguish, suffering, and anger Link has and will go through - as shattered as the timelines themselves.
Of course, there would be a part of him that was angry with Zelda -how could one not be a flurry of mixed emotions? Such begins their complex entanglement of destined souls - and the beginning of the Fierce Deity.

It’s almost Friday - here’s a Zelda post.
Zelda OOT was the turning point of my creative life. Yes, that was my “awakening” XD - Ever since then, I have always wanted to tell as captivating of a story as Ocarina did and the universe as a whole.

At the end of this life, we scattered into the moments evil would rise to its height |

Dark Link Awakens - player 2 has entered the game
Here, I imagine Dark Link as a true mirror of Link - his shadow self - in every way in every accumulation of trauma that Link himself endured and would endure in timelines to come.
Torn from the Hero’s spirit by Ganondorf’s cunning wits and dark magic when he entered the Sacred Realm, finding the hero to be trapped in a state of stasis.
Ganon saw the timelines emerge from Link’s crystalize state as his shadow grew along the convergence of timelines to this stasis moment. He knew that the hero could not reach his full potential if part of him were removed, so he extracted the youth’s ever-mounting despair and gave Dark Link his form.
Seperated, tormented, but ever the same as the hero’s spirit. The Hero’s Shade takes up arms against the Demon King who brought him and the world so much anguish - to correct the timeline.

As the Hero’s fate came to conclusion, a shadow loomed nearby, stalking up to the rubble of battle. Dark Link - the shizmed part of the Hero’s soul - disembodied from his home and the tortured shadow self of a boy across cracked timelines, all anguish honing in at one accumulated source.
Conjured from the dark magics of Ganon’s cunning wits - plucked from the slumbering victim in the Sacred Realm’s stasis - the Hero’s Shade roams free from his whole, unable to return total potential to his self.
In the Downfall timeline, will he carry on the legacy of the Hero of Time?

What if Dark Link became the hero of the fallen timeline by traveling back to the past to return his shattered soul back his past self.

Dark Link, having picked up the Master Sword, in the rubble of demolished Hyrule Castle - found himself engulfed in the darkness of all his anguish, all of the carnage of this world that Ganondorf squandered, all of the hatred that cultivated in the hero’s heart.
He would finish that demon. He who brought about this cursed existence of half life that Dark was subjected to roam.
And so he stalked his way into the Gerudo desert, plotting of the blood that would spill out that vile man.
And as he approached the fortress, he saw who he had taken as the prize of battle.
She’s not dead. A glint of surprise danced along his mind, before the rage that lived inside him for Zelda stirred.
Might as well give my bittersweet farewell, considering I’ll likely die killing him.
