Han (AME): I do like Mackenzie, but ugh... it's such a waste of time to make a character as handsome as he is and not give him at least a tiny story. And several flings with MC... Just saying... 😏

Horatio (LH): Before Ben showed up, every time I played LoveHacks I was annoyed Horatio wasn't romanceable. Why did PB make a character so adorable and never let the players romance him?

Renza Fiero (TRM): Yeah, she's evil and a backstabbing traitor who romanced one of the most stupid villains on Choicesverse. But I loved her 🤷

Harper Emery (OpH): Well, here's a power imbalanced romance I'd gladly play. She's beautiful, powerful, competent and more interesting than most characters in the entire series;

Teagan (AME): Again, why did PB make a character so sweet and never let the players romance her? I don't get it;

Ruby Webster (CoP): I like Trystan more than I ever expected to like a LI from a single LI book. But when I first started playing Crimes of Passion, I was upset I couldn't romance Luke. Then I changed my mind and wanted to romance Ruby lol. She is pretty, sweet, smart, doesn't date much. My MC would gladly date her;

Luke Watanabe (CoP): If Crimes of Passion was a multiple LIs book, I'd definetely choose his route. Even if I changed my mind later, I think he'd still be worth romancing;

Carter Jackson (QB): I swear I thought he would be a LI when I started playing Queen B. Such a disappointment...

Robin (TNA): I only played until chapter 6 (I think...), but I remember MC talking and having much more fun with them than with Sam. I know they hooked up with Sam's fiancée, but I liked them. And btw, they're prettier than Sam;

Xanthe (ACOR): I'm not an enemies to fuckbuddies lovers enthusiast, but once again I fail to understand why PB created a gorgeous and intriguing character like her if the players can't even have a fling with her.

‘Does anyone find the korean representation in choices stories to be iffy? The only notable ones are Ben from Lovehacks, Jameson from Bloodbound, Rebecca Seymour from The Unexpected Heiress, and Poppy from Queen B. Spoilers, but every single one of them (besides Ben) are antagonists, with Rebecca and Poppy to be the main villains. Poppy eventually became a love interest yeah, but I still think her character kinda sucks. Ben is pretty cool though’

Thank you for tagging me ("twice" 😂) in this game, @jerzwriter! Here's the list of the Choices LIs I romanced.. There aren't really that many I spent diamonds on, though..

AME - the best LI in the best Choices book (and the only GOC book I read with a female MC), Mackenzie Harris! I also want replay with Derek as the LI, but can't decide whether to stick with my MC for that.. The dílemma! 😫😂

Big Sky Country - Sawyer Oakley. But I really want to reread the series with Dallas as LI..

Blades - started with Mal, ended up with Tyril (I just thought it worked better since my MC is an M!Elf as well.. 🤷‍♀️). But all the LIs in the book are great!

Bloodbound - Kamilah for the most part and I did the 35 💎 scene with Jax and Adrian at the Parisian club.. 😏 But I wasn't really spending diamonds on the series and I still have a few chapters left to read (which I still haven't gathered strength to do after reading what happens at the end.. 😫)

A Courtesan of Rome - Cassius!! And I loved Sabina as well. Though I was only diamond mining the book, so tough to say..

Desire and Decorum - Luke Harper! But I really wanted to romance prince Hamid as well! Before that I also did a Miss Parsons and Mr. Sinclaire routes (without spending diamonds on the romance scenes). All the LIs in this book are great though.. whether you romance them or not.

Distant Shores - Edward and Oliver. But again, I wasn't spending diamonds on the book..

The Elementalists - Beckett Harrington. I loved the book 1 diamond scenes, I remember I thought the ones in book 2 were pretty boring, but it's been a while since I read it..

Foreign Affairs - my M!MC romanced M!Hispanic!Blaine, my F!MC romanced Tatum and I don't even remember who my NB!MC romanced.. 😅 I've finally given up on the book (and almost the whole app) by chapter 12, so it doesn't really matter..

The Heist: Monaco - Fabien

Hero - Grayson and Kenji the second time I read it

HSS: Class Act - my M!MC romanced romanced M!Rory and my F!MC romanced Skye.. But once again I wasn't spending diamonds on the book..

Hot Couture - Marco and Luz.. Again, I wasn't spending diamonds on either. But it is actually on my list of books I want to reread properly sometime..

It Lives Beneath - Parker! Guess it was the right call to blow all my diamonds on this book, otherwise I'd be very unpleasantly surprised later.. 🤭😂

LoveHacks - Ben Park.. As per usual, no diamonds spent on the series..

Mother of the Year - Eiko. No diamonds spent, but I'm thinking of rereading it properly since everyone seems to love the book so much..

Nightbound - Nik, but I still haven't finished the book..

Open Heart - Bryce, Bryce and only Bryce. The OBVIOUS choice and easily the best Choices LI. And I also did a full Jackie route with her as the sole LI (still have to finish book 3, but Jackie gets what? 4 scenes in that? 🤦‍♀️). I also did the other routes as well with MC romancing everyone in book 1 and only sticking with one from book 2 onward (well, then there's Vegas.. 😁).

Perfect Match - Damien, but I still have to finish this one too..

Platinum - F!Avery at first, then switched to F!Raleigh.. But haven't spent diamonds on either.. But I might replay this one as well..

Red Carpet Diaries - Thomas Hunt

Ride-or-Die - Mona, I'm actually not sure if I spent diamonds on this one (maybe one scene?)

The Royal Masquerade - F!Kayden, no diamonds spent..

TRR - the first time I played I've given up hope that Maxwell was an LI by the time Drake confessed his feelings for MC after he "saved MC from Tariq" and because I'm weak, I couldn't turn him down after that.. 😅 After I found out that Maxwell actually was an LI during the UN rooftop scene, I started his route on another device.. I also romanced Hana for a bit in book 1. But I've given up on the series at chapter 12 of The Royal Heir I believe..

RoE - I romanced all the LIs in that I believe, but Leo was the main LI.. I spent some diamonds on the series but none on the romance scenes..

Save the Date - Lindsay and, yes, one of the most hated LIs - Justin.. 😅 I only bought that finale diamond scene (and I don't even remember what happened in it, lol.

Veil of Secrets - Flynn O'Malley (you can't tell me that they didn't base him on Ian Sommerhalder, lol). Again, didn't spend diamonds.. My MC left town at the end.. But I'll definitely replay and fix my mistake, lol.

Wake the Dead - my man Troy of course! Worth every diamond!

Wishful Thinking - Anna Koishi

Phew, that was longer than I thought it would be... 😅

To this day, lovehacks has the only respectable friends to lovers plot line in all of choices idc. The fact that they established MC and Mark having liked each other and pined for each other for years vs the current slew of books where our supposed bff has feelings for us only when the book starts/we meet another LI is so lame to me. It feels cheap when our supposed bff only mentions liking us when someone else comes along. Idk if u agree but yeah I was just replaying LH and this came to mind

the way lovehacks is soooo underrated actually hurts me. its soooo good and well written that the fact people ignore it makes me curl up into a little ball. ur so right and ily for replaying lhs. mark and mc’s relationship is so underrated. also the scene where if ur mc is romancing ben nd mark nd they play that game thingy??? SO FUNNY

Choices LIs

I've done something like this before, but it was nearly three years ago, so it's time for an update. (Plus, I saw this floating around, and I was bored, so why not?)

Books with a single LI: I tend to default to the female version of any customizable LI, especially on a first playthrough. I'll sometimes romance a male LI with a male MC, but I rarely do m/f romances. The exception is A Very Scandalous Proposal; I don't like the Ava sprites, so I almost always choose Simon instead.

In this category, I like Trystan Thorne, Kieran, Dakota Winchester, Simon Montjoy, Manu Nakeli, and Kit Jackson. I feel pretty neutral toward Cassian Keane, Clarke, and Jacqueline Monroe. I don't like Sam Dalton. And the entire book Surrender can kindly fuck off.

Across the Void: Gonna be honest, despite having read this through at least twice, I wouldn't be able to tell you a thing about the LIs or their personalities. I think I went for Titania my first playthrough - or was it Kepler?

America's Most Eligible: Jen's my favorite here, though I'd like to try a run where I dump someone for Bianca.

Baby Bump: Myra.

Bachelorette Party: Aisha.

Big Sky Country: I love Juliette dearly, but sometimes my Hallmark-loving brain kicks in and I have to pick Sawyer.

Blades of Light and Shadow: All four are amazing and I love them. I love my ladies the best, but I have a soft spot for Tyril as well. I'd love a big polycule here.

Bloodbound: Kamilah takes the top spot, but Lily's a close second.

A Courtesan of Rome: Sabina and Syphax are tied as my favorites, and I'm becoming more fond of Cassius the more I play. I'd like Antony to go away forever, please.

The Crown and the Flame: For Kenna, I alternate between Val and Annelyse. For Dom, I prefer Sei.

Desire and Decorum: Annabelle, always.

Distant Shores: I actually tend to go for Edward here, surprisingly. Almost always with a male MC, though.

The Elementalists: Shreya or Aster.

Endless Summer: I've tried all four. With female MCs, I tend to lean toward Quinn. With male MCs, I like Estela or Sean.

Foreign Affairs: Either Tatum or Ayna.

The Freshman: Becca is my queen. I also like Kaitlyn and Zig, but it's hard to pass up Becca's route.

The Haunting of Braidwood Manor: Eleanor. Is there even really a choice here?

The Heist: Monaco: Sonia. This is one of the few instances where a guaranteed female character is written as the "main" love interest, and she's amazing and I love her romance route.

Hero: Eva.

High School Story: Emma or Maria.

High School Story: Class Act: Skye.

Home for the Holidays: Holly.

Hot Couture: Luz.

Immortal Desires: Both. Both is good.

It Lives Beneath: Probably Imogen or Tom.

It Lives in the Woods: Andy or Ava.

Laws of Attraction: Aislinn.

LoveHacks: Ben.

Mother of the Year: I love all three equally. I literally cycle through them each time I play.

My Two First Loves: I went for Ava the first time, but I really love Noah as well.

Nightbound: Vera or Cal.

Open Heart: Jackie and Rafael are my favorites, but I think Bryce is awesome as well. I can't stand the other guy.

Passport to Romance: Um... Marisa, I suppose?

Perfect Match: Hayden, Sloane, and Alana. Though sometimes I'll go for the entire polycule, because I can.

Platinum: No strong preference here. Maybe Raleigh? Though I like Shane's vibes as well.

Queen B: Zoey, with a dose of flirting with Poppy.

Red Carpet Diaries: Teja, I guess, though the whole series is sort of meh for me.

Ride or Die: Probably Mona's at the top, though I have enjoyed doing Colt and Logan runs before.

Rising Tides: No preference. Honestly, I don't even remember who I chose the first time.

The Royal Masquerade: Kayden. Mostly because of the looks thing, honestly.

The Royal Romance: Hana. Though if I could choose Olivia, I'd be all over that.

Rules of Engagement: Dean for the MC, and Mira for the Party Twin.

Save the Date: Lindsay or Simon.

Slow Burn: Still playing for the first time, but so far I think I prefer Julia.

Sunkissed: Eliana.

The Unexpected Heiress: Gemma.

Veil of Secrets: Kate and Naomi.

Wishful Thinking: Jaime.

Wolf Bride: Morgan. Go away, wolf dude.

The beginning of 2024 had definitely already brought it's share of challenges for me, but I'm hoping that maybe things will still be improving from here! Thinking positive!

Writing Goals

Where to even begin? I have probably 100+ WIP ranging from a scribbled idea on a post it to an outline that needs to be typed. I'd like to put a dent in that? So far each year, that list keeps growing instead of shrinking. I find that I'm more of the in the moment writer. It's all or nothing. Either I finish a piece in one sitting or it never gets done. I'd like to try to find more of a balance in 2024.

In a perfect world, here are some stories I'd like to complete:

Mal's proposal: I started this fic last February, and would really like to actually write it. I have art for it. I don't know what I'm waiting for, especially now that I have their Blades 2 AU proposal done 🙈

Laser Tag with Brylivia: This is just a short little drabble that I think is like 75% written. It's from 2 years ago. I really have NO excuses lol

Love and Scotch: This series fell away when I stoped writing Ethan (for a number of reasons). I'd love to finish this series. I had several more chapters planned but I might just skip some and at least get to what I envisioned as "the end" aka Thomas and Alex's HWU AU wedding and a big turning point for Ethan and Ellie.

#HollywoodHacks: Does anyone even care about this series? Anyone even remember it? I feel like no. I was really only writing it for 1 person, but they're not in the fandom anymore...It might not be the ending I'd planned or wanted, but I think I could wrap the series in 1 or 2 (tops) more chapters. I had hoped that the story would lead to me writing more for Ben Parks and my #LoveHacks MC but that never happened

Tipsy Nia x Daenarya: an anon requested tipsy Nia hitting on Daenarya and I started it but then never finished it. It's such a small drabble it seems silly to even include it here, but here we are!

Blades 2 AU: At the start of Blades 2 I was doing a great job keeping up with the book and rewriting the chapters to fit my vision for the characters. That kinda fell apart around Chapter 5. I'd like to finish that rewrite and see how Iliana fits into how the rest of the book happened. Last I wrote, Daenarya didn't even know she was pregnant.

Rayden and Lydo's Adoption: Mal and Daenarya have already decided to adopt them. I've also written them as a family. But, I've never written the actual story of Mal and Daenarya telling the boys they were adopting them and they'd be a family forever, so I'd love to do that!

Pairings I'd like to write more of in 2024:

Thomas and Alex: I used to publish 1 new story a day when I first started writing them. It lasted over a year, then it gradually decreased. Last year, I only wrote them 10 times! I know the lack of interactions with their stories, has definitely made me want to share less and just enjoy daydreaming for them, but still, I'd like to keep their story going, regardless of interactions, because they are so special to me. Plus, if I could wrap those two series above that they're in, that would definitely lift my RCD/HWU fic count for the year!

Nyx x Aerin: I LOVE NYX! NYX is incredible and I love love love them. Aerin is kinda fun too. I would love to develop these two more this year.

Trystan and Lilah: I've only written them a few times and I'd like to get to know them better

Beckett and Emma: I haven't written them in a long time and when I did write them it was for 1 particular series (them in Detention). With the Book Club replaying TE, I'm hoping I might be inspired to see what they're like outside of the library.

Troy and Astraea: I love these two but I haven't had time to explore them more. I don't think I'll have time to participate in the group reread right now, but I would still like to reread WTD at some point this year and keep developing them.

Daenarya x Maiele (@lilyoffandoms) + Mal x Tyril: In 2023, Lily and I started to develop these relationships more. I loved every second of that and I hope 2024 will bring us more of these four lovely characters.

Mal's Orphanage: Blades 2 destroyed the orphanage storyline. If PB wanted to steal it they should have done a better job of it. Like there was literally no point in them having that storyline since they abandoned it the first chance they got. I'd like to fix the Blades 2 orphanage storyline but then go back to focusing on my original orphanage because those children are my favorite.

Catch up on reading and be a more active reader

Follow and support new Choices accounts

Continue with the book club and other events I host but find a balance with hosting that I still have time to create and read/support others

Try my hand at drawing again. I had been drawing chibi's a while back and I haven't had time/the courage to try again, but @lilyoffandoms's incredible art journey this month has inspired me to add it to my list this year

Keep editing Aerin in the sluttiest Choices outfits I can find

Flesh out more of Olivia's pediatric practice and how she transitions from Edenbrook to Sunshine Pediatrics

Be kind to myself and let myself rest when I need it. I am my biggest critic and if you ask me what I'm good at, I'd say nothing and I would tell you everything wrong with anything I've ever done, including all of my pairings. I see the mistakes and I want to let myself see the good and focus on only that this year.

Designated Driver

Mark x MC

With appearances from Cole, Horatio, and Ben

(I’m so sorry I’ve been missing from the LH world. It was Homecoming week, and I’ve been swamped with work… but I managed to write this short fic. I’m still working on rewriting Chapter 3 of Book 1…but enjoy this in the meantime!)

It’s 3:00 a.m. when you finally get the call. You roll over and grab your cell phone.

Mark.

“Babe?” you answer sleepily.

“Wha…what…d-don’t call me baaabe”

There’s rambling in the background. You recognize Ben and Cole’s voices.

Oh, boy.

“Hello?” you say patiently.

“H…shhhh, quiet you guuuys…. Hi is this Uber?”

No, jackass, this is your girlfriend-you want to say. However, in the depths of the early morning hours, you’re feeling particularly wicked. Your mouth curls into a mischievous grin.

“Why yes, it is,” you reply, “Do you need service?”

“WHOA…whoa, lady,” Mark slurs his warning, “Calm down with the service…we need…rides.”

“Okay, sir. Where are you?”

“We’re…guys, where are we?”

You sit up in bed and roll your eyes as you hear the three of them trying to make sense of their surroundings. You know where they are – Mark told you he was having boy’s night at the usual spot. You also know he must be shitfaced if he confused your number for the Uber App.

“We’re…at….at the Double Tap,” he finally answers. “Be there shortly,” you say

Once you hang up you rub your hands together. You feel like you did when you were five in a candy store: This will be a treat. From your closet you pull a pair of glasses and a blond wig – part of last year’s Halloween costume. You put them on along with an old college sweatshirt. One look in the mirror, plus knowing how wasted they are, confirms they won’t notice a thing.

Driving to the bar you are in good spirits. It’s not often you get an opportunity like this. When you get there, you see them.

It’s hard not to.

Ben, Mark, and Cole all attempting to breakdance on the sidewalk. Chaperoned by Horatio. You know it’s horrible. You know. But you pull out your phone and take a quick video. Blackmail.

When you get out of the car and approach them, Horatio does a double take. You put your finger to your lips and wink; he understands.

“Uber transportation for Mark Collins?” you say in a bored, tired sort of voice.

Mark gets up from a bad attempt at floor rocking and nearly falls back over. He looks at you sideways and blinks several times.

“That’s…that’s me,” he points to himself, “I’m …. that dude.”

You point to your car and directly avoid Horatio’s stare. If you look at him you’ll dissolve into a giggle fit. This is too good. You watch the boys stumble towards your car. Ben tries to open the car door. And tries. And tries.

“Ben,” Horatio calls to him, “that’s the gas compartment!”

Ben looks at it for several seconds before moving his hand to the actual handle. He opens the door and throws it open with such force it makes you flinch. The three practically climb over each other to get into the backseat. When they close the door you see Cole press his face to the window. Horatio then turns to you.

“Dani, what are you doing?” he asks.

“If I must be D.D,” you explain, “I might as well have a little fun.”

You expect Horatio to express dissent. However, when you turn around and Cole now has his ass pressed to the glass he nods.

“Are the child safety locks on?”

“Nope, I want to see at least one of them tuck and roll from the car,” you respond in jest.

“I want to hear this tale tomorrow,” he says to you with a small smile.

You give Horatio a pat on the shoulder and go back to the car. Once you ensure your passengers are wearing seatbelts (it takes Mark three tries and a pinched finger) you head first to Ben’s place.

“So, gentlemen,” you begin casually, “did you have a good evening?”

“Oh…we…. yes. That’s a yes,” Ben nods vigorously.

“We…are…we’re….” Cole laughs at himself “motherfucking legends. Youuuu…. lady… are driving….l…legends.”

In the rearview mirror you see Cole attempt to high five Mark. Instead, he hits him in the face. Mark screams bloody murder.

“OOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, dude…,” he cries out, “that hurt…you…you broke my face! How will D…D…Dani like me now?”

At this you smile. Mark’s face is fine, but he claws at it as if he’s been mauled.

“Mr. Collins, who is Dani?” You ask curiously.

The back seat gets quiet. You see the three boys look at each other.

“Dani’s my girl…person,” he says with a drunken grin.

“But you’re not like…exclusive, are you, handsome?” you say suggestively.

Ben scoffs from the backseat. Cole looks outraged. But Mark? Mark gets this soft look on his inebriated face.

“I…a-am…off the…market,” he stutters, “We are…ex…ex… you can’t have me.”

“Dani’s the bestest,” Ben adds in, “trust me, I kinda know see when…M…Mark and her were…well before they were …”

“Ben Ben Ben,” Cole spits out, “do…don’t talk about that time you bent Dani ov- “

“WHOA!” Mark interjects holding his hands over his ears. You are intensely grateful for this.

“Guys…guys…” he says. He then looks at you through the rearview mirror. Though his eyes are bleary from the alcohol, you see purpose in them.

“Dani…. Dani’s like…my bff…and my gf…she’s…like…. she’s like my….”

“Sex goddess?” Cole fills in with a hiccup.

“Well…that tooooooo,” Mark agrees, “but she’s so…. special…and I just love her…so so much…”

You hear a sniffle from the back seat. Ben. With a tear slipping down his face.

“That’s…. sooo beautiful man,” he murmurs as he wipes his face.

“Yeah…but…but let’s not forget that boooodaayyyy,” Cole sings drunkenly, “she’s so scrumptious- OW”

Mark punches Cole’s arm. Hard.

“Don’t… you talk about her like that.”

You feel Mark’s eyes on the back of your head.

“L…listen lady,” he says pointedly, “I’m fl…fl…it’s cool you think I’m attr…hot, but…I’m a one-man woman.”

It takes everything in you to refrain from laughing.

“I understand, sir.”

Shortly after you arrive at Ben’s apartment complex. He tips you, and crawls up the steps to the front door. After three attempts with his keys he finally gets in. From there it’s a short drive to Mark and Cole’s place; most of it is spent with the two attempting to sing the theme song from Cheers. It’s mostly gibberish. Finally, you reach their complex. You stop the car and turn around in your seat.

“This Dani sounds like a lucky woman,” you muse.

“No….wroooonggg…” Mark declares with a forceful head shake, “I’m luck…lucky. She’s my world.”

He looks at you and then at Cole, who is fumbling with the door. At last Cole gets it open and the two exit with difficulty. You get out to watch them – afraid of them falling down the steps. As they open the door Mark turns and waves.

“Nighty night Uber lady!” he exclaims.

And then he’s gone.

You stand out there a few minutes; pull the wig from your head. A huge smile spreads across your face. Laughter and a good joke were your goals for the evening. Instead, even in his drunken state, Mark’s left you with that warm, fuzzy feeling of which he is a master.

Eventually you get back to your place and crawl into bed. You find it hard to sleep, though, because his words replay in your head.

The next afternoon, Mark appears at your door. He’s in sweats, holding his head, looking a little worse for the wear. You open the door wide and watch him walk past you and plop down on the sofa. He groans when his head hits the pillow.

“Rough night?” you ask him.

His only response is to nod and pat the cushion beside him. You follow his gesture and as soon as you’re beside him, his head is on your lap. He places a hand on your knee and lets out a content whimper when you massage his temple.

“I…will never drink again,” he mutters.

“Well, that’s a lie,” you laugh, “what happened?”

“Cole …. seven rounds of red Herring.”

“None of you pulled a Jack of Hearts, did you?” you tease.

Mark groans again.

“Dani…I love you,” he replies, “but for that I kind of hate you.”

You smile down at the precious, hungover, hunk of man.

“Anything else happen?”

Mark opens his eyes and squints against the light, deep in thought.

“Yeah…actually,” he muses, “our Uber driver hit on me.”

You do your best to sound surprised.

“What?! Was it a dude?!”

“No, a chick…blond….and she asked me if I was available, sorta,” he tells you.

“Oh, that’s awkward,” you respond with a chuckle.

Mark turns over on his back and looks straight up at you. He reaches up and touches your cheek; presses his fingertips to your lips. You kiss them gently.

“It was, but …I told her I have the perfect woman. I don’t need anyone or anything else.”

The words warm your heart all over again. Mark sits up momentarily to kiss you; then flops right back onto your lap. You spend the afternoon caressing his face and playing with his hair as he slips in and out of slumber. It hits you as you watch him smile in his sleep. Whether Mark is drunk, hungover, or sober… You’re certain. You are his world just as much as he is yours. Life will always be amazing with him in it.
