just seen ballad of songbirds and snakes and omgomgomg
my brain is thinking the thonks
BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES SPOILERS AHEAD
The entire movie, characters are calling Lucy Grey "songbird". All the time. "Keep an eye on your little songbird" "Catch that songbird" etc etc, but Lucy Grey's weapon of choice is snakes.
Snow's weapon of choice is manipulation or, literally against Sejanus, word of mouth. He uses the jabberjays/mockingjays the way the Capitol built them, to spy on their enemies. He is Capitol through and through. He uses the drones to save Lucy Grey, he cheats with the rat poison and lies to the Gamemaker's face about why he's there when he gives the snakes Lucy Grey's smell. Bar literally singing he is the songbird.
Lucy Grey is the snake. The last one expected to survive. The singer, the Corey, the smartest one in the arena and the one who puts it all together when Snow lies to her face about who he has killed. She knows she's next, she knows he killed Sejanus, not literally but he was responsible. She puts two and two together and slithers away into the bushes and trees of District 12.
The obvious bit is that Snow is the snake for lying and cheating, in the colloquial meaning of someone being a snake, and Lucy Grey is the songbird because of her singing the songs of the revolution and rebellion.
But they're both deeper than that. They're both and songbird and both the snake.
Anyway, 10/10 movie, minimal notes but those notes were more wishes than much else

okay I just finished reading Chapter Six of @bamsara’s Solar Lunacy and I realized something that, if Bam does in fact address later, will absolutely break my heart once I read it
Quick spoilers for Chapter Six below

The entire first half of the story is set before the events of the Security Breach game go down and Chapter Six has now established that Moon had most likely been suffering gradual damage starting at least two years prior (from what they could tell from the available security footage). This means that all triggered responses and agitated behavior stem from this one thing: this “glitch” as the protagonist calls it.
We know that both Sun and Moon were gravely affected by it (both psychologically and on a real world basis: Sun’s anxiety and pressure on keeping both close relationships as well as the company’s bad rep on the downlow, and Moon both lost his position as Naptime Attendant and lives with the guilt(???) of murdering/injuring human beings). We know they both wanted to keep the protagonist in the dark about it because they’re their “favorite friend.” They care about them.
Which means once the Night of the Game comes around, not only will Sun and Moon be subjected to being controlled and manipulated into becoming hostile monsters AGAIN, they’ll be forced to relive their trauma through seeking to hurt Gregory AND the Protagonist.
This time, the one person they care about the most will be trapped in a cage with them and bear witness to their absolute worst— being hunted down with the intent to kill— and neither Sun nor Moon will have the power to stop it.

Guess who finally saw the fnaf movie and its back in business

The episode was definitely more Wattpad than it was A03 or Tumblr, but it was still the best episode of the season.
I genuinely think that being on the set and seeing it all right in front of you is a lot more scarring than it was on TV, but we still have to give it to them for daring to do any of that for streaming. It’s completely on brand for Kripke to use spectacle to draw us in and then hit us with emotional beats for each of the characters (e.g. Mystery Spot being played for laughs because of the Groundhog Day aspect, but being totally heartbreaking by the end with Sam’s grief), making it more character-driven, about being used by people and the company and where your priorities lie in between all of that.
But every cast member completely knocked it out of the park in this episode. The fight scene was some of the best action this show has done and I’m just so excited to see where we go from here!

#dungeon meshi#falin touden#marcille donato#farcille#I always loved how chapter 27 ends with them both so bloody and 28 starts with them in the bath.#not just because of how iconic the bathtub moment is but because you know they had to scrap off so much gore first.#I think everyone in the party took a very long and methodical bath but Falin was basically *all* blood*.#Being covered in blood is one of those 'just girly things' that women deserve to stop being shamed about.#I just don't think Chilchuck is progressive enough.
