rose’s hands rested on the other’s arms, trying to make sure she had enough balance before letting go. she’d need to remember to bring gloves out nowadays, thankful for the colder weather starting to roll in. “oh, shit, yeah that would have been rough, i’m glad i was right here.” they replied, looking back at her with a smile. “guess the good and bad luck balanced out.”

It was after school, and Steve was coming out of the bathroom when he noticed the spectacle going on. Some underclassmen he didn’t recognize was standing at her locker, the metal door open in front of her while Tommy was seated at the bench across the hallway, his girlfriend splayed across his lap. Casually sliding down onto the floor to seat himself there, Steve kept his gaze averted downward until a particularly obnoxious comment was made that was clearly pushing the line of decency too far. Brown eyes were shifted ceiling-ward, Steve discouraging his friend with a slip of an admonishment, ❛ Come on, Tommy. Knock it off. ❜ Rolling his head, he fixed the teenaged girl with a friendly smile in the hopes of adding some levity. ❛ DON’T listen to him; Tommy, well, he’s an animal. ❜
