Made a Long Essek amigurumi pattern for @foxqueen-katarian. It's based mainly on the original jackbox game drawing by bloodfliess on twitter.
Check out more of my creations here!
Pattern under the cut:
I used a 6mm hook and the purple and white yarn are size 4 medium
The hair is slightly complicated, as I utilized a bump stitch that you can find instructions for here:
(time stamp at 2 mins)
Head and Body:
1. Magic Ring 6
2. [inc, sc 3] x3 (9)
3. [sc 2, inc] x3 (12)
4. [inc, sc 3] x3 (15)
5. [sc 4, inc] x3 (18)
6-7. sc 18 (2 rows of 18)
8. [sc 4, dec] x3 (15)
9. [dec, sc 3] x3 (12)
10. [sc 2, dec] x3 (9)
*I put in the 12 mm safety eyes around this time (a ring of 6 stitches would also work) and started stuffing the head since this is all one piece
11. [sc 2, inc] x3 (12)
12-21. sc 12 (10 rows of 12)
22. [sc 4, dec] x2 (10)
23. [dec, sc 3] x2 (8)
24. sc 6, dec (7)
25. dec x4 (this technically grabs the first stitch of the next row)
6 Legs:
1. Magic Ring 6
2. sc 6 in back loops
3-5. sc 6 (3 rows of 6)
*stuff lightly here
6. inc x2, dec x2 (6)
7-8. sc 6 (2 rows of 6)
*stuff lightly here then attach to body
If you want toes (I rec using a smaller hook):
9. Attach your yarn to one of the stitches on the lip created by the front loops of row 2 with a chain
10. Chain 3, slip stitch to the same stitch
11. Slip stitch to next stitch, chain 3, slip stitch to the same stitch
*Repeat 11 with however many toes you want, the original art mostly has 4 but it varies per leg
*You can also chain more if you want longer toes, I just didn't want them to get unwieldy
* I ended up doing 4 toes with chain lengths of 3, 4, 4, 3.
Ears:
1. Magic Ring 4
2. Chain + turn, sc, inc x3 (7)
3. Chain + turn, dec, slip stitch (2)
4. Chain + turn, sc in the dec (1) (skip the slip stitch)
5. Chain
Hair:
1. Magic Ring 6
2. [inc where the first stitch is a sc and the second is a bump] x6 (12)
3. [(inc where the first stitch is a sc and the second is a bump), sc, bump, sc] x3 (15)
Notes:
*You could do a different hairstyle or probably use fun fur pretty effectively
*The art has a mouth and nose but I don't normally do those
*I didn't do the collar or freckles because they didn't look good with the size 4 white yarn (I might go back and do them in my thinner white yarn later)
*If you want a Longer Essek you could easily add more body rows, and if you wanted it to be bendy like a snake you could implement increases/decreases or half double crochets on one side to shift the direction it goes
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to ask me. I normally write my patterns very minimally so I hope all of this makes sense enough for you to achieve your own Long Essek goals.

*Matt talking about Caleb wearing a deep purple scarf*
My brain: Ah yes, this is clearly Long Essek™️ wrapped around his neck like a living stole. Indubitably.

I can't get this out of my head.
Image description: a little comic of Caleb and Essek from Critical Role.
From offscreen Essek asks "Caleb?"
Caleb, who is engrossed in a book, replies "Ja?"
Essek, in the small, purple, lizardlike form of Long Essek, looks concerned and asks "Would you still love me if I was a worm?"
End description.

This is a long shot, but has anyone made a Long Essek amigurumi? Or have a pattern to make one?

So tempted to draw Long Essek based on the current partial poll results but I don't want to encourage any corrective votes 😂
