I liked to think both Lotor and Allura share one brain cell when they're together. I mean collectively when they're apart they are super intelligent alchemists. But, I kind of headcanon that both Allura and Lotor, including Dotu!Lotor and Dotu!Allura were considered "gifted children" because they excelled beyond their peers. Accompanied by the fact they were heirs to their respective thrones, it meant little time for distractions/hobbies/or friends. They couldn't really indulge in childlike things because of their status and because of everyone's expectations of them. Lotor probably had the worst of it because of Zarkon who probably placed even more weight on his shoulders. Being a half-breed also didn't help Lotor much in the long run, everyone already perceived him to be weak because of his mixed blood, so had even more to prove and couldn't afford to falter.

For Allura, it was living in the shadow of her father's achievements. She constantly compares herself to him, and laments how she can never be him. I bet people did that-saying that she'll be just like him one day, or they wonder if she'll ever live up to her father's legacy. It created a lot of self-doubt in her, a lot self-esteem issues.

Lotor and Allura also have serious issues with perfectionism, that they can't be anything less than perfect if they aren't they believe people/subordinates/colleagues/etc will begin to doubt or question them.

If they're not perfect Allura will never be able to live up to her father's legacy. For Lotor it means becoming a reflection his.

So, both try hard to project a persona. To be hard, unwavering which leads to them repressing a lot feelings.

I'm also pretty sure they have a freakin' truck load of repressed childhood trauma they never dealt with that ends up boiling over into their adulthood.

Which means that when they get together, they collectively become dumbasses, and do weird stuff and enable each other to do childish things. Because they never got the chance to be children or have a normal childhood.

•Like pulling pranks on the paladins.

•They have a favorite past time that includes flicking peanuts at Keith and see how long it takes for him to get irritated at them.

•Mocking Earth television.

•Playing Hookey to avoid dull meetings.

•Taking up odd hobbies.

•Misunderstanding Earth sports.

•Benging on sweets [Though, Lotor later regrets it. Zarkon never allowed him to have sugary confections as a child, thus he's unused to the taste and sudden rush of sugar]

•Build strange inventions with their alchemy.

•When no one's looking, they like to play tag in the gardens [unfortunately, for passersbys, things getting a little handsy. The servants could live without seeing that. Same for the paladins. Lotor's generals make bets].

•Playing in the snow and having snowball fights. Some people think its undignified for people of their status to play children's games.

•Get liberal with the alcohol. What's worse than Lotor and Allura scheming together? Drunk! Allura and Lotor scheming together. Everyone fears for their freakin lives.

Its a rare crystal that looks very similar to ones found on Altea.

I thought up a scenario where Allura, Coran and the paladins and Lotor and his generals end up some fancy bar in the middle of the universe, where Allura gets so plastered that she looses any sense of decorum that she tells Lotor point blank that she wants to have his babies in fron of everyone, she does while she managed to climb in his lap.

Lotor hardly bats an eye, he's too busy trying to keep her from keeling over onto the floor head first.

Allura: I-I want to have your babies.

Lotor: That's nice darling, but you are drunk.
