Heard Your Call | Arthur & Aria
The day was a warm one, and swords were singing. Arthur had arisen early, this morning, blessing what was like to be the last radiant dawn of the year, watching with bright eyes as the sun spilled a ribbon of pearlescent pink across waves of inky night.
If given his natural druthers, Arthur likely would not have been an early riser, it is true, but this was something he believed his father would appreciate: a show of discipline and courage, training each morning with sword and shield as the sun rose over the waking world. He told himself, too, that he enjoyed it. Swords singing, he often told the knights with whom he trained, was the blood singing, and was that not, itself, courage?
This speech seemed to rate positive impressions from his listeners, and Arthur, so early in the morning, did not feel much inclined to question that. Still, it left him with that familiar weary, on-guard feeling in his gut, bright blue eyes fastening on each visage by turn. Sir Lionel's father was captain of the guard to his own father and hoped to follow him, Lord Blackmore wished to receive a blessing for his proprosed union to Lady Alys, and Sir Richard wished to become a baron. All of them believed that Arthur's goodwill was a stepping stone towards these goals, and his gut sank to think it. No. This would not do.
Sword in hand, Arthur twisted his wrist, fastened a quick-blooming smile on his face, and nodded to his companions. "Blackmore, pick up your sword. Sir Richard wishes for another fight." He turned towards Sir Lionel, ready to challenge him, when movement behind the knight caught his eye.
A flash of color, a silken-bright gown of glowing crimson -- his favorite color -- seemed to gleam with the light of the rising sun and a too-quick glance-and-away of glittering dark eyes caught his attention. Clearing his throat, Arthur put his own sword into Sir Lionel's hand. "Watch them. Declare a winner. Then fight him. The loser will judge that round."
Yanking off his training pads to reveal the more ordinary clothing beneath, Arthur dropped them where he stood and jogged forward, vaulting the fence in time to fall directly into step with Aria Stafford as she attempted to speed her way past.
"And where does this morning take you in such haste, my lady?" asked Arthur, walking backwards to face her a few paces before falling in with her, shoulder to shoulder. "Surely you're not still avoiding me?" He told himself it wasn't likely. After all, she'd come this way, and she couldn't have been ignorant by now that he'd be there. He grinned. "Could it be you missed me?"

A Request
A long lore dabble. 1929 words. Fluff with hints of angst.
Summary: Godwyn enters communion to ask Lionel a very important question regarding himself and Fia.
Notes: This is an AU version of Godwyn I have created for this RP blog. This is a divergent canon fic. Also, I don't know if Lionel is tarnished so I'm just assuming he is, don't @ me.
Gnarled black roots wrapped tightly around his wrists, thorns pushing with a force that threatened to pierce his skin. The sting that came with this ritual was not new to him. He sought to embrace the sting, for it was a gateway to his realm.
He had come to learn that his newly found abilities made communication with Those Who Live in Death, and Fia's Champions easy and relatively fast. During his and Fia's stay in the Roundtable Hold, using Communion to his realm was essential to communicating his orders to Those Who Live in Death. Even now that he resides back within the deeply nestled roots of the Erdtree, he found communion more efficient than getting up somewhere high above the decaying masses and making a speech.
However, this night he would not make any orders to his subjects. Rather, he entered communion to speak to one person to ask for something. Something of great importance, something that could alter the course of his new life.
As the thorns pierced his skin and his blood began to drip, he felt his immediate surroundings fade away. The crackling fireplace and the faint sound of Fia lightly snoring gave way to the sound of dripping water and corpse flies. His sight fogged to see a more dark and gloomy area that was lined with deathroot from the walls to the ground. It leads upwards, reaching far above his head, twisting around the Erdtree roots like a parasite.
This was his tomb. The heart of his realm, and the heart of the new upcoming age.
His voice broke through the sound of water and flies. "Come forth Lionel the Lionhearted, Champion of Fia." Like many of his dutiful subjects of the living dead, a man adorned in abnormally rotund armor stepped forward from the fog. His great Epee slung over his shoulder and his staff hanging from his other hand.
He offered a courteous bow to The Prince of Death. "You summoned me, Lord Godwyn?" His voice was slightly muffled within the disk-like mask. The hunk of metal tilted upwards to see the Prince through pinholes.
"Aye, I hath summoned thee here for an important question." He answered Lionel, his cloudy eyes laid upon his oddly-shaped visage.
"Of course, my lord." While Lionel’s voice spoke of calm compliance, he couldn't help but wonder anxiously why Godwyn would want to ask him about anything.
"Fear not, for I do not wish to quiz thee. Prithee, humor me, will thou?" Sensing his tension, Godwyn attempted to cut the growing tension. He knew Lionel was more loyal to Fia than him, and understandably so.
"Very well." Lionel nods.
Godwyn started with a long breath. "As thou'rt aware, Fia has survived the deathbed ritual whilst resurrecting me. She has not left mine side, even after recovery. She has become my companion not only in death but within mine new life. Before my new life, thou hath dedicated thyself to protecting her with thy sword and staff. Thou hath declared thyself to be her father, protecting her like she was thy flesh and blood, correct?"
"Yes." Lionel nods once more. "I cared for her like my own child. In turn, she offered me purpose and a peaceful death once I lost my sight of grace."
"Fia tends to nurture the soul of those she comes across." Godwyn offered a soft smile. "She offered beyond nurture for mine own soul. She offered me comfort, solace, and intimacy when I trusted no one else. She has become my rock. A constant companion through it all..." Godwyn continued.
"So I must ask you, Lionel, the Lionhearted... Will thou accept mine proposal to take Fia's hand in marriage?"
Lionel was almost stunned to silence. First, he stared at the Prince silently through his helmet, then a muffled chortle escaped him.
"My Lord, what you're asking for is no easy decision."
"I understand. Thou may tell me what grips thee." The question was finally out, but Godwyn couldn't rest just yet. He needed to hear Lionel’s concerns and quell them before he could get an answer.
"She does not understand this world like the two of us." Lionel's tone noticeably dropped low. "She has lived a very... macabre sheltered life. Grace had essentially uprooted her, torn her away from the only life she knew. I met her when she still had that flicker of grace. She was so scared... of everyone, and everything. She had no real way of defending herself from anything, even hawks or wolves. All she could do was hide away and stay out of sight. I happened to stumble upon her hideaway when I was exploring the woods of Limgrave. She attempted to flee, but I stopped her. It took her so long to come down from tears so she could tell me her name."
Lionel knew more about Fia's past than Godwyn. While Fia had told Godwyn bits and pieces of her past life as a deathbed companion, he had not known of her life when she freshly rose from grace. He had assumed that it didn't matter much to Fia, or that it was too painful for her to remember. She often shied away from speaking about things that were painful for her to remember, like memories of lost childhood friends.
"Thoust were driven to care for her in her time of need, yes?" Godwyn inquired.
"Correct. It wasn't immediate. It took time for her to warm up to me. To tell me about herself, and what she was doing there. I don't know what exactly drew me to her at the time, but I believe it was because she looked like my own daughter. Same hair and eyes, a soft voice. If she looked much younger I would have thought it was her."
"Thou hath a daughter of thy own?" Godwyn perked up curiously.
"Yes. She was my wee flower. She was a fragile little thing, her health had failed her since the day she was born. She passed away when she was about 10…” Lionel’s tone had become more sorrowful.
"Fia has a gentle soul like hers... It killed me to have seen her in her darkest hours. I just felt compelled to help her. Who else would in a world like this? The next tarnished would have likely killed her."
Godwyn winced at the thought of someone hurting Fia. It's one thing to consider the dangers she had to face, but the mere thought of her getting hurt or killed while she was alone genuinely upset him.
Pushing those thoughts to the side, Godwyn swallowed a lump in his throat. "I am genuinely sorry for thy loss. Truly, I cannot imagine how painful that must hath been. I... I can see why thou hath cared for Fia like thy own."
"I call her my daughter because she is my daughter. I love her as much as I love my flesh and blood. I braved through Linurnia and Altus Plateau to reach Leyendell with her at my side. I was fatally wounded by one of those damned tree sentinels, and she was there for my last breath. She would have probably tried to revive me if she already didn't make up her mind to revive you."
Godwyn furrowed his brows, panged by the undertones of anguish that rode within Lionel's speech. The pain of losing a loved one, finding another, and working tooth and nail to get them where they need to be. His intentions were pure to protect and uplift, all in memory of his late daughter.
"If thoust do not mind I ask, how did she come to learn about me? When did she make the decision to revive me?" He asked cautiously, not wanting to prod further into raw nerves that still needed time to grieve. Godwyn was curious about how Fia came to know about him and his story. This was something Fia had yet to tell herself. After this, he would have to ask for her perspective given the time and comfort.
"I lent her my invitation to the Roundtable Hold. Once she was there, she spent her time reading up on the Landscape of The Lands Between. I don't know what specific books she read, but one of them mentioned you. She slowly pieced together your past by reading different books. Then she found a book specifically about The Night of The Black Knives, and you became the center of her attention from then on. She could hardly stop talking about you for the first month. A few months later, she tells me you gave her purpose once again, and that was to revive your banished soul." Lionel did not sound perturbed by Godwyn's request for information. He readjusted the Eepee slung over his shoulder and glanced at the side, viewing the dozens of souls that wandered Godwyn's realm. Many of them were warriors from times long gone.
"She could not fight, she could hardly even survive on her own. She would have been destined to die if I didn't find her. She had little motivation to follow the guidance of grace. She felt like she had lost her purpose, and that she was worthless and doomed to wander until death found her. I remember the day she came to me one night on my travels, her eyes alight while she spoke to me of a Demi-God who once fought and defeated the ancient dragons, only to befriend one of them and bring peace and diplomacy to The Lands Between. How the Demi-God was slain in the night, and now his soul is gone while his body continues to live. She was smitten with you, I would say. It appears she still is." Lionel’s tone noticeably picked up.
Godwyn snickered at Lionel's comment. Fia wished not to die after reviving him, that should tell Godwyn how smitten she truly was.
"I believe so." He smiled at Lionel. "She is the flicker in my eyes. She is what wills me to get up in the morning. She gave me the wings to fly, and now she is the wind beneath my wings. I could not hath gone this far without her." There is a brief pause between them.
"Will you make me a promise, my Lord?" Lionel asks.
"Of course."
"Do you promise me that you will continue to care for her, give her life more purpose than just reviving you?"
"Aye, I will.” Godwyn nodded. “I wish to make her my consort. She will become a queen and a mother to Those Who Live in Death. She will be a beacon to our new faith and philosophy. Mine consort eternal within the Age of Duskborn."
There was a lull of silence between them. Lionel pondered his final answer to The Prince for a few moments.
"Very well." He finally answers. “You have my blessing, my Lord."
Godwyn's smile grew into a grin as a feeling of relief and joy welled up inside of him. This is it, he's going to pop the question to Fia. He's going to marry his deathbed companion, and soon he shall be a god with his consort eternal at his side.
He bows reverently to Lionel. "My dearest thanks, Lionel."
"It is an honor, my Prince," Lionel responds, offering a bow in return. "Shall I go now?"
"Thou may leave now. Thy work is done here."
With that conclusion, Lionel dissolves into a fine grey mist. Godwyn then severs the root that connected him to his realm, returning to the Lands Between.

Tumblr media
     Alright, SO.
WHY is Akame Cursed? I get this question many many many times. People who only watched the anime, even people who read the manga, whether due to I interested them, or, THEY wanted to of their own volition, always ask me this question, and I want to finally explain MY thoughts on it.
And believe it or not? I do NOT have much to say on it: not because I don’t know, but because the answer is very easy to explain, and not much to really say.
Tumblr media
Here we have: Tatsumi, and clearly, he ain’t looking so fucking good man. He’s a big ass whole dragon, but anyone who knows about Tatsumi, knows: he is NOT like this normally. So, what the fuck happened? Spoilers, but here we go.
ALL TEIGU are still sentient. Anytime Incursio is worn, the armor reacts to Tatsumi’s emotions, his will to fight, to win, to save his friends. Just like how in order to bond with Murasame, Akame had to not FEAR the blade, and to find a macabre beauty in it’s cursed visage. The same with Yatsufusa, and so on. Why? These are WEAPONS, so why does this all matter?
Because The Weapons Are Still Alive.
The beasts that were slain to create these weapons were killed, but t heir ESSENCE is still in the materials forged into these weapons, and because of that, these weapons are SENTIENT but not in a way that is ABLE to be communicated with. The reason Tatsumi becomes Tyrant is because over many different fights, he had to EVOLVE to keep his fighting going. Mahapadma made it so he HAD to evolve and be able to OVERPOWER the time-slow freeze, and so he became IMMUNE to Esdeath’s ice.
And over time, the Tyrant’s Willpower overwhelmed him, and this results in one thing: Tyrant’s Resurrection by taking his body over, it’s soul overpowering his, and BEING REBORN.
But Incursio was not the only thing that did this: Lionel did  this as well, to a lesser degree. As we see after the war is concluded, Leone’s TEIGU was destroyed, but she still retained her tail, and ears. Why? Because Lionel merged with her body, to SAVE HER  LIFE from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Wounds  that SHOULD have killed her.
So, what is Little War Trumpet / Ennoodzuno?
Tumblr media
You guessed it: Murasame had merged with her body. When Akame killed Tyrant, when she STABBED Tatsumi in the chest, incidentally ‘killing’ him, she DISCARDED HER HUMANITY. She realized if she is  going to kill this WARMONGERING BEAST, she had to throw EVERYTHING away. She had to kill HER HEART. She had to put HER LIFE and the life of THE ENTIRE NATION on the line, and give her last every bit.
The Murasame is sentient: it feels every drop of blood spilled by it’s edge. It’s curse kills. It’s edge slices: it is a Demon Sword forged solely for killing. And it’s Little War Trumpet is the strongest means to kill: it enhances your speed, your strength, it makes you practically IMMUNE to pain. It’s the biggest rush of adrenaline, in a sense, you can gain.
This is WHY even in the new manga, she is CURSED.
Tatsumi lives, but he is now a large ass DRAGON with his wife. Akame is now BRANDED by the sins of her past: the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS she has killed in her years, THEIR SORROW, GRIEF, RAGE, HATRED, all plastered onto her body, ETCHED into her flesh every second in a never ending agony, WEIGHING her very SOUL down with SIN and MURDER.
This is her PENANCE for all she has done in her life.
And the blade is taking it’s TIME killing her.
That is why she is STILL this immensely strong, albeit WITH DIFFICULTY backing it, WARRIORESS. She’s still as fast as she was when fighting Esdeath. She’s still AS STRONG. Because she is not WEAKENED: she is MERGED with the curse. She’s a DEMON in HUMAN FLESH walking a world she should have died for.
Murasame still exists: it is her. And she is it.
Just as ALL Teigu users would one day become.

.Astra’s DA Verse idea dump
0 - Astra’s mother (Celeste) was a middling official in the Orlais Court and her father (Hughes) a common foot soldier and guard. To save face, a higher ranking Templar named Lionel Heights took claim of the child and Hughes was “encouraged” to become a Warden and quietly leave the Court.
8 - Astra showed signs of magicand was quickly sent to the Mage Circle in Montsimmard. Celeste was “lost” in the shuffle and Heights used it as an opportunity to show his own belief in the Circle since he sent his own child to it. That said, after Astra was sent away he rarely contacted her unless it was to make a show to garner opportunistic points for the Game.
8 | 16 - Astra grew up with a magnifying glass on her as a child through her training and often dreamed of becoming a high ranking mage in the Court. She worked hard in her apprenticeship and became attuned in the schools magic with a focus on Spirit and Force. Her dream is to work in the court and maybe even be a member of it like her mother was.
17 - She took the Harrowing and faced a visage of a Fiend taking Height’s form. It went for her thirst for power and her own resentment for how he obviously used her and did not care for her. Even more worrying, before she turned him down and returned from the Fade, it alluded to her parentage not being what it seems.
19 - The Kirkwall Rebellions began and what contact she had with her father all but dissipated with her offers of work going with it. She started to do research into the Circles and started to plan an escape.
20 - Her name was pulled out of thin air in a supposed rebellion plot and it didn’t take a genius to guess it was Heights trying to erase her and the blight she left on his legacy. She became an apostate overnight fleeing before they could make her tranquill. She left Orlais for Feredelan hearing that some rebel mages had found safety there.
23 - Three years on the run, Astra made work doing odd jobs taking care of some darkspawn and using what she learned her few years flirting with the Court. Then a half dead Blood Mage Apostate appeared at her door and she managed to save her from the brink. They two became close and it didn’t take long for her to fall in love.
24 - The two of them made their way to Radcliffe to join the rebel mages there and she joined the inquisition soon after. She is hopeful that it is the start of something new but she doesn’t know what exactly that “new thing” means. The Game is never ending and she hopes this “inquisitor” is aware of it.

Enshrined
“The chief deity among the Vallite people is actually one shared with my fellows on the Nafti Coast, though I dare say they place a great deal more emphasis upon her worship than we do. The Vallites shun the worship of all Terrestrial and Infernal gods, choosing only to worship the kin of their Mother Moon.
Theologians I have spoken to say that She is an Emanation, the echo of an ancient proto-deity from before the dawn of mankind. Mother Moon thus carries the blood of a Titan, making her the primordial mother to all people of this world.
To hear a Sylladan tell it, however, we come from the sea.”
Enrico Ziani, Commentaries on Theologies
Lionel and Kalliste stood before a wayshrine, praying a moment to the visage of Mother Moon. The little alcove by the side of the road was littered with offerings of flowers and candles, not to mention a variety of coins.
Lionel stared at the depiction of his goddess, examining the pregnant idol, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.
“What does faith mean to you?” Lionel turned to look at Kalliste slowly, his eyebrows drooping. There was an unmistakable sadness in his eyes.
The question caught Kalliste off guard. Lionel was an introspective sort, to be sure, very often concerned with the ethics and morality of his actions. He reminded the Sylladan woman of the scholars back home, philosophers who often argued in town squares over the nature of things.
“I’m not sure I take your meaning,” she began, hesitating a moment, “Do you mean faith as in religion? Or is it something else?”
Kalliste was sure the question meant something. Lionel was prone to speaking in riddles at times, usually when he fell into a melancholy about their journey.
Lionel looked back at the statue. “I’ve been thinking,” he said, “The Mother sent me on this journey for a reason. She told me to heal the hurt in the world. But...”
He stopped and stared at his hands. He’d removed his gloves to pray, and Kalliste noted the increasingly calloused palms.
“I was told to heal. To end pain, to oppose suffering. What have I done, Kalli?”
Lionel moved his hand to the hilt of his sword, the famed Sword of Stars, that marked him as Mother Moon’s champion. He’d been getting better with it, largely because Kalliste had been teaching him, but he still had much to learn.
“I’ve killed. I’ve fought and bled and killed, and I think I’ve killed quite a lot of men. Killers and thieves all, to be sure, but...” He made a wide, sweeping gesture around. “What have I healed, really?”
Lionel removed the sword from his belt, scabbard and all, and held across his palms.
“Why do I need a sword to heal the world, Kalli?”
Kalliste considered her words carefully. “Surgeons carry knives,” she finally said, “What makes your sword so different?”
Lionel looked at her, brow furrowed, then at the sword. With a sigh of stress, he returned it to his belt.
“Perhaps. Perhaps I am meant to be the world’s surgeon, cutting away at the impurities to let the rest heal. I doubt it is much comfort to the widows and orphans I’ve left in my wake.”
Kalliste put a hand on his shoulder, offering a concerned smile. “And what about the people whose loved ones you’ve avenged? I can’t say that I’ve only ever killed when it was justified, but I think you’d be able to. From bandits to the Storm Knights, we’ve only tangled with people who were already hurting others.”
“True enough,” he said, “Ah, well. No use driving myself into a stupor regretting it all. There’s work yet to be done.”
“True,” Kalliste said, knocking Lionel off balance with a well placed hip, “And you’ve got much more training to be done.”
Lionel managed to remain upright; the truest sign of his improvement, to be sure; and offered a weak smile to Kalliste. “Believe me, I know how much I still need to improve. I swear, I’m picking up scars faster than is at all reasonable.”
Kalliste reached over and ran a finger across a scar on Lionel’s cheek before poking the tip of his nose. “Well, we can’t all be invincible.”
“True enough,” Lionel chuckled, “I suppose that’s what we’ve got you for.”
But the thoughts did not leave Lionel’s mind. He did not enjoy violence, despite his capacity for it. He did not have the thirst for blood that so many of the skilled fighters he knew had developed.
He did not hesitate in battle, not anymore, not even when he found himself somewhen and someone else. His visions had grown more frequent and as a consequence he had grown accustomed to fighting through them.
But he did not relish being a divinely appointed killer of men.
“So what does faith mean to you?”
Kalliste’s words cut through the fog of Lionel’s mind, the way only she could.
“That’s right,” he said, wagging a finger at her, “You avoided my question, didn’t you?”
“I just knew you weren’t really asking me about faith,” Kalliste said, avoiding Lionel’s gaze.
“Oh, trust me, I know what avoiding questions looks like. I do it all the time.”
“And yet you never avoid asking them,” she said, turning to grin at him. “Or sharing your opinions on philosophy.”
Lionel blustered for a moment, gesticulating around. “You were the one who told me you want to know what’s on my mind!”
“And I do,” Kalliste said, smiling sweetly.
“And now you’re telling me I talk about philosophy and ramble about ethical behavior!”
“I didn’t mention ethics,” she said, “And you didn’t answer the question.”
“That’s because I’m avoiding it!” Lionel threw his hands in the air.
Kalliste covered her mouth as she giggled. In such a moment, Lionel thought, you could hardly tell she was a skilled and seasoned adventurer with a penchant for relieving men of their vital fluids.
“Fair enough,” she said, “Fair enough.”
“Oh, I hardly think we’re being fair at all.”

The Epic Eye-Brows of Lionel Belmore
The Epic Eye-Brows of Lionel Belmore
The visage of Lionel Belmore (1867-1953) is one you have surely seen in supporting roles in dozens of classic Hollywood films. Today we are apt to associate him with horror, although that was far from the only genre in which the theatrical veteran toiled. For quick reference, he was the pettifogging Burgomaster in Frankenstein (1931), and the similarly titled Burgermeister in The Vampire Bat…
