Inspiring Artist Gjon Mili

Mili was a pioneer in the portrayal of movement in photography. Not only did his engineering of photographic lighting tools and techniques in the 1930s change the possibilities for depicting movement, but his photographs themselves altered the public's general understanding of motion in general.

I thought Mili's work was perfect for the theme of movement as that is what his work was all about, I really enjoyed his use of movement through photography, I can clearly see the motion and gesture through each of his pieces everyone of his photos show dramatics and detail and I really think they are so beautiful.

I also liked the fact that he represents movement through music and dance which is what my project is based off of, you can clearly see the person dancing even though it is a stll photo and shows the movement of a musicians hand when playing an instrument its quite fascinating to me.

I was really inspired by his work of movement through music, I would love to take more primary sources that create movement of dance and music(linspired by his own photos) and try perhaps use photoshop to edit them and phisize my ideas in my graphic design workshop this week.

(I was eleven and hadn’t realised I was gay....but interestingly enough they became a cannon couple in the final episode of the show, so eleven year old me was on to something)

Last Song: Bigger than the whole sky - Taylor Swift (makes me want to bawl my eyes out)

Last Movie:  I skim-watched Wall.E today because I couldn’t stop thinking about the dance scene, but also Piglet’s Big Movie, one of my favourite films when I was a child. 

Currently Reading: I have been trying to plough my way through affinity by Sarah Waters for MONTHS now and I still haven’t finished it (largely because I read before going to bed and I just start zzz-ing as soon as my head hits the pillow) but before then it was I’m glad my mom died by Janette McCurdy and the Paying Guests - Sarah Waters, both of which I’d seriously recommend. 

Currently Watching: For two and a half years I’ve had people on my case telling me to watch Grey’s Anatomy and I’ve finally started it, I love dramas about blue light professionals (I mean Ashes and Mars, Chicago Fire / Med, Line of Duty, I’m obsessed) and I’m excited to see where the story goes as I’m only on series two. 

Currently Consuming: Water and some Cashews bc I’m not feeling very well

Currently Craving: Nesquik Cereal but I don’t want to leave my house to go and get it because it’s very cold (-2).
