i think eminem is overrated. i have been listening to his shit for fucking years and maybe it's because i am just tired of it, but i can't help but loose the magic.
there's not much depth in it nowerdays. he spent so long doing shock-humour bullshit and then to horrorcore and then to ego-rap and then back to horrorcore.
litterally the only album i have liked as of recent was revival and a few songs from kamakaze, all of it afterwards has just been boring. except godzilla.
like, i think his ego is too inflated and i think now there is so much more talent these days... he kind of just fades into the scenery.
i don't see the big deal anymore and i don't see why he's still considered good by default. he's talented, very talented. just not good. like that collier guy who won a grammy for covering the flintstones. talented, just not good. all style, no substance.
i still believe MF DOOM, kendrick, the Beastie Boys, biggie and even ICP rank higher-up than him on the bases of substance and style. even more recent rappes like joey valence & brae as well lil dvrkie and eric jamal are above that, in my opinion, than em.
The head of Spider Gang closed out 2021 with a new, highly experimental solo album "Boros." Once again blessing us around xmas, Lil Dvrkie's fourth studio album features 11 songs. This album has a significantly shorter run time than his 2020 project, "Swamp."
My first playthrough of the album, I was taken back. Even for Spider Gang, these songs were very gritty and incomprehensible at times. I was a *huge* fan of Swamp, but I'm not sure Boros will do it for me like Swamp did. Dvrkie may be trying to continue to push boundaries, a fundamental trait of the Spider Gang that we have come to love.
The direction of this album was at a great contrast to the gang's recent soundcloud track "MORNING RACKS" which, imo is one of the most tame songs the group has ever put out. This track also surprised me, but for the exact opposite reason. Perhaps the group is branching out in a couple different directions to see what sticks!
