Far-right extremists have spent the past week harassing and threatening migrants on the United States border with Mexico while making money by livestreaming it on YouTube and Rumble.
“Anybody in there,” said Dennis Yarbery, one of the YouTubers, as he approached a migrant camp at night in Jacumba Hot Springs, California, near the border last week. Yarbery was livestreaming to thousands of people. “Come out, come out wherever you are.”
Yarbery is one of three men who split off from the Take Our Border Back convoy in Texas and, according to their livestreams, spent days driving along the border in Arizona and California to harass migrants and volunteers with nonprofit groups.
“We’re illegal hunters,” Yarbery told a store clerk while livestreaming at a Subway sandwich counter in Jacumba Hot Springs. “I’ve hunted a lot in my life, but I’ve never actually hunted people, and that’s what we’re doing now.”
Yarbery, who is known online as both MasterGrifter and Big D and says he joined the People’s Convoy, a group that protested Covid lockdown measures and disrupted traffic, in 2022, was joined by Josh Fulfer, known as OreoExpress, and Joe Felix, known as Taco Joe, who runs 1st Responders Media, an outlet focused on livestreaming far-right events.
Throughout the hours-long broadcasts from the border in Arizona and California, these livestreamers regularly asked for donations from their supporters, which they claimed was being used to continue their work “covering” the crisis.
Even while in the middle of harassing the migrants, the livestreamers could still be heard thanking those who were sending them money via YouTube’s Super Chat function or through other platforms like Venmo and the Christian-aligned crowdfunding site GiveSendGo. In one situation, while Fulfer was shouting at migrants in Arizona telling them to go home, he stopped briefly to call out a supporter who had sent him $50 on Venmo.
These livestreamers come after weeks of inflamed rhetoric from both the far-right community and Republican lawmakers about immigration at the Texas border with Mexico. This year, the situation has erupted: After Texas governor Greg Abbott refused to heed the Biden administration’s calls to remove razor wire along the border, a dozen GOP governors publicly declared support for Abbott, and the Take Our Border Back convoy traveled from Virginia to Texas. Though the convoy petered out, the violent anti-immigrant rhetoric, which experts have warned would have long-term impacts, has only heightened.
“The post-convoy terror campaign against immigrants at the border follows an all-too-familiar pattern we’ve tracked for the past couple of decades,” Devin Burghart, the executive director at the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights, tells WIRED. “Public bragging about ‘hunting people’ is a descent into a dangerous new low for armed vigilantes. Left unchecked, armed far-right vigilantes will spill more blood.”
After the livestreamers left Texas, they went to Sasabe in Arizona and a migrant camp run by No More Deaths, a humanitarian organization that provides support for migrants crossing the border.
During an hours-long livestream at night, Yarbery, Fulfer, and Felix all shouted at the migrants and accused them of human trafficking. Yarbery even tried to sell cigarettes to the migrants for $20 each. At one point, Fulfer threatened violence against a migrant who was shining a torch at their cameras.
The trio also verbally attacked a volunteer who worked with the organization, following her around as she phoned for help from US Border Patrol, according to livestreams of the incident viewed by WIRED before they were taken offline.
Yarbery, Felix, and Fulfer didn’t respond to WIRED’s requests for comment about their actions at the border.
Laurie Cantillo, a board member from Humane Borders, says the organization, which maintains water stations along migrant routes near the border, is aware of the allegations of harassment. “We have noticed an increase in vandalism of our permitted water stations along the border,” Cantillo tells WIRED. “Our 55-gallon barrels have been shot, stabbed, drained, and stolen. It’s a sad state of affairs when someone sabotages water that can save a human life.”
US Border Patrol and No More Deaths did not respond to multiple requests for comment about the incident. One former volunteer with No More Deaths, who did not want to be identified due to safety concerns, told WIRED that they were not surprised no one replied, as the organization “may not want to draw extra attention to this event.”
After departing Arizona, the trio of livestreamers headed to California, where they continued to try and track down migrant camps. On several days their searches were fruitless, though they continued to broadcast and solicit donations through YouTube.
After Fulfer and Felix departed, Yarbery continued to “hunt,” as he called it, and during one broadcast over the weekend, he livestreamed with his partner and their baby while driving toward the border in Jacumba Hot Springs.
While there, Yarbery met with locals to discuss the migrant situation, and in one conversation a man could be heard on the livestream saying, “I say we shoot ’em all,” before Yarbery told him to be quiet as he was broadcasting live on YouTube.
YouTube told WIRED that it terminated Fulfer and Felix’s accounts after WIRED asked about the livestreamers, but it did not take action on Yarbery’s account. All of Yarbery’s videos, YouTube said, were set to private by the account holder. Yarbery has also created a backup channel, and told his followers in a YouTube chat where they could continue to follow him on the platform.
For years, extremism experts have been tracking how violent rhetoric around the border and migrants has led directly to violence, dating back to the 2000s when fear-mongering attacks on immigrants led to the mobilization of far-right paramilitary groups, one of which brutally murdered Raul Flores and his 9-year-old daughter Brisenia.
“Sadly, this cycle of violence has become so common that it tends to go unnoticed outside of the communities targeted by far-right vigilantes,” Burghart said. “This time around, the Black Mirror-like difference is that tech advances now allow [people like Yarbery, Fulfer, and Felix] to stream and monetize their cruelty to a far-right fanbase that craves more.”

MADISON – About 3 1/2 hours into a Wednesday hearing that centered on high-profile investigations of Hunter Biden and former President Donald Trump, Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany posed a question to Attorney General Merrick Garland about a local June incident — to which Garland furrowed his brow in apparent confusion.
"There was a World Naked Bike Ride in Madison, Wisconsin, just a couple months ago," Tiffany said. "I sent you a letter two months ago, asking if you had a problem with that, because it exposed a 10-year-old girl, by the race organizers, to pedaling around Madison, Wisconsin, naked. Do you think that's a problem? And why did you not answer our letter from two months ago?"
Garland said he would ask the Office of Legislative Affairs to respond to Tiffany, who then asked if it typically takes two months to respond.
"It sounds like you're asking about a question about state and local law enforcement. We get hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of letters," Garland said.
Tiffany ended the exchange: "State and local law enforcement would not act. We were hoping you would. It's obvious you are not."
Tiffany was referencing a letter he sent with Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Fitzgerald on July 14, which asked Garland to investigate a young girl's participation in a local World Naked Bike Ride event, which is also hosted in Milwaukee.
Both Tiffany and Fitzgerald's offices previously confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that they had not heard from DOJ after they requested a response by Aug. 26. DOJ did not respond to requests for comment on the letter and if the federal department was investigating the incident.
Local Madison police received multiple complaints about the girl's participation, including from a conservative Dane County supervisor, but the Dane County District Attorney determined her participation did not violate any state laws.
The state Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation also was never involved in investigating the incident, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

A spokeswoman for the Madison Police Department said Thursday there were no updates in the case. Police had planned to reexamine the case if more information became available and discuss internet safety with the girl and her mother if they were identified.
The police department's Special Victims Unit reviewed the photo depicting the girl's participation but determined Wisconsin's statutes on possession of child pornography did not apply because the photo was not sexual in nature. Police also determined a statute relating to exposing a child to harmful material or narrations did not apply.
But Tiffany and Fitzgerald disagreed with police, organizers and legal experts that because the purpose of the event was not sexual, local ordinances and state laws would likely not apply.
"The laissez-faire attitude of all parties, such as the organizer, the attendees, and the Wisconsin Attorney General, underscores the need for the federal government to intervene and act to protect our children from this perverse behavior," the lawmakers said in their letter.

One needn’t be an expert in psychology to understand that Donald Trump has some of the thinnest skin known to man. A prime example of this would be his apparent decision to run for President because Seth Meyers made fun of him. Another? His administration’s reaction to a celebrity calling him a “pussy ass bitch” on Twitter.
If you’re having trouble accessing this particular incident from the memories so many of us have repressed from the Trump years, a quick refresh. In September 2019, Trump, who’d not yet been banned (and unbanned) from Twitter, logged on to his favorite social media site and complained that he wasn‘t getting enough credit for the bipartisan criminal reform bill that had passed through Congress and been signed into law. Specifically, he wrote: “Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is—but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed.” Chrissy Teigen is obviously the wife of John Legend, though she had not been tagged or referred to by name, which inspired her to send a tweet of her own reading, “Lol what a pussy ass bitch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.”
Anyway, life went on and we didn’t hear much about this thereafter. But on Wednesday, amid a congressional hearing about Twitter’s decision to limit users’ ability to read a New York Post article about Hunter Biden’s laptop—which Republicans naturally believe is evidence of a vast conspiracy—it suddenly popped up again.
Specifically, we learned, thanks to the testimony of Anika Collier Navaroli, a former member of Twitter’s content moderation team, that the White House sprang to action upon reading Teigen’s tweet. “The White House almost immediately thereafter contacted Twitter to demand the tweet be taken down. Is that accurate?” Representative Gerry Connolly asked Navaroli. “I do remember hearing we’d received a request from the White House to make sure we evaluated this tweet, and they wanted it to come down because it was a derogatory statement directed at the President,” she said.
Later, in an exchange with Representative Maxwell Frost, the full “pussy ass bitch” quote was entered into the official congressional record.
The tweet, of course, was not taken down. It’s not clear if Trump himself—an avid Twitter user at the time—was the one who told his team to tell the site to remove the insult, or if they acted on their own, knowing he’d have a massive fit over it. Perhaps we’ll learn more in subsequent hearings.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO-03) was re-elected by the narrowest of margins last year. She apparently is trying to shore up her support among voters who act like jerks at plays, movies, and concerts.
Lauren Boebert was escorted out of a Colorado theatre’s performance of Beetlejuice for allegedly vaping, singing, taking pictures and “causing a disturbance”.
The right-wing congresswoman and a companion were asked to leave Denver’s Buell Theatre during the performance of the touring Broadway show on Sunday night, reported The Denver Post.
The Republican lawmaker, who was not named in an incident report, was warned about her behaviour during an intermission after three complaints were made, and she was eventually asked to leave altogether.
Knowing the House Freedom Caucus, it's surprising she didn't blame the complaints about her theater misbehavior on Hunter Biden's laptop.
Security footage from the theatre shows Ms Boebert and her companion being escorted from their seats.
A separate camera then picks up the pair returning to the lobby. Ms Boebert flings her arm in the air at one point before walking away.
The incident report, obtained by The Post, states that after their warning, officials received another complaint around five minutes into the second act.

Happy Wednesday, Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. Arnold wasn’t completely clear on when society’s precipitous decline began, but he was sure that the rise in popularity of the acai berry had something to do with it.
I’m going to hit a few quick things here at the top today rather than just focus on one topic. This will happen from time to time going forward.
It looks like the Democrats are going to pitch in with the heavy lifting of making sure that Joe Biden isn’t president for as long as his evil wife wants him to be.
As I recently wrote in a VIP column, the Biden cheerleaders in the corrupt mainstream media have recently been admitting that President LOLEightyonemillion isn’t really up to the task of being the most powerful man in the world, or any task for that matter.
Athena wrote yesterday that the criminal sleaziness oozing out of Hunter Biden’s pores will probably force the Democrats to find a way to make Ol’ Gropes step aside sooner rather than later. Rick had a post detailing the efforts of some progressives to make sure that a run in 2024 isn’t an option for Biden. He also cites a poll that says that two-thirds of Democratic voters would prefer that Biden not be on the ballot in 2024.

Well, they did promise that Biden would bring the country together and he seems to have done just that. Nobody likes him now.
Kira had a horrifying story over at RedState the other day that makes yet another case for making public sector teachers’ unions illegal and defunding public education:
In a school discrimination case that could set a precedent for beleaguered parents across the country frustrated with Critical Race Theory-related issues in the classroom, a California woman is set to file suit against her child’s school district after her 7-year-old daughter was punished and humiliated for drawing a Black Lives Matter picture for her friends that also included the sentiment that “any lives” matter. In addition, the school never informed her about the incident or the punishment; she only learned about it after another parent mentioned it to her a year later.
Kira does a deep dive with the girl’s mother and her attorney. It’s an upsetting, but necessary read. Kira will be joining Stephen Green and me on Thursday for “Five O’Clock Somewhere” to discuss the story.
Our own Megan Fox is having quite the week. She immediately smelled a rat in a story published in the Indianapolis Star that was only backed up by a single, very dubious source. Being the journalistic pit bull that she is, Megan wouldn’t let it go. Other outlets began picking up on it, many of them (looking at you WaPo) not giving Megan attribution. That’s changed. She was on Jessie Watters’s FNC show on Monday and on Tuesday the Wall Street Journal editorial board acknowledged that she was the first to call b.s. on the story.

Exclusive Source: Biden Daughter’s Diary Details ‘Not Appropriate’ Showers With Joe As Child! "Was I Molested. I Think So."

National File has obtained what a whistleblower has identified as a copy of the complete diary of Ashley Blazer Biden, the 39-year-old daughter of Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden, dating from during the 2020 presidential campaign. National File also knows the reported precise location of the physical diary, and has been told by a whistleblower that there exists an audio recording of Ashley Biden admitting this is her diary.
In the diary, which our source says belongs to the former vice president’s daughter, the author writes of her struggle with drug abuse. Ashley Biden’s struggle with drugs was Widely Publicized in 2009.
According to our source, the diary also details Ashley Biden’s unhealthy relationship with sex, and the “probably not appropriate” showers she shared as a young girl with her father, Joe Biden.

After declaring she was “here for sexual trauma” in the previous entry, on page 23 of the diary, dated January 30, 2019, the author explores the topic of sexual abuse and how it may have led to her overactive sex drive. “I’ve had one of my hardest days – my sex drive is out of f**king control. Like literally, I am in heat,” wrote the author.
“I know it’s not the healthiest way to deal with things but @ least it’s better than drugs,” she wrote, adding that she thought she needed “sex to feel good.”
The author then explored why she felt this need to have sex, saying she believes she was molested as a child.
“Was I molested. I think so – I can’t remember specifics but I do remember trauma,” wrote the author, before listing a series of potential incidents, one of which may have included Ashley Biden’s cousin Caroline Biden, as the author says she remembers “being somewhat sexualized” alongside a person named “Caroline.”
The author then wrote that she remembers “showers with my dad” that were “probably not appropriate.”
On page 83, in an entry dated July 22, 2019, the author wrote that she received a phone call from her father, Joe Biden according to our source, who cried on the phone while expressing his worry for her in the days leading up to July 30-31 Democratic Primary Debate.
“My dad cried on the phone saying he has the debate in a week and ‘Now has to worry about [the author],'” she wrote. “And he cried. Maybe he knows what he is doing and it’s worked but my feelings of guilt often are overwhelming.”
In at least two entries, the author explicitly identifies herself as Ashley Blazer Biden.
National File obtained this document from a whistleblower who was concerned the media organization that employs him would not publish this potential critical story in the final 10 days before the 2020 presidential election. National File’s whistleblower also has a recording of Ashley Biden admitting the diary is hers, and employed a handwriting expert who verified the pages were all written by Ashley. National File has in its posession a recording of this whistleblower detailing the work his media outlet did in preparation of releasing these documents. In the recording, the whistleblower explains that the media organization he works for chose not to release the documents after receiving pressure from a competing media organization.
This diary surfaces after Hunter Biden, the son of the Democrat presidential candidate, Joe Biden, has been exposed as having “Underage Obsessions” and corrupt business dealings as evidenced by emails and images provided by the New York Post and Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
National File, as the media organization that published reports about the Pelosi family’s Ukraine dealings and the potentially illegal affairs of Democrat Senate candidate Cal Cunningham, believes the public has a right to read these entries that were obtained for National File by Patrick Howley, the reporter who broke the Veterans Affairs scandal, and the Ralph Northam racist yearbook photo.
Last year Ashley Biden was profiled by The List, which claimed that her “transformation is turning heads.” She was credited as working as a “social worker, activist, and entrepreneur.”

Nothing makes me cringe more than when a politician who has obviously engaged in immoral acts starts using God as a prop to defend their behavior. That is exactly what Willis is doing. Instead of taking responsibility for the fact that she allegedly had an affair and then hired her "lover" to be a special counsel in a completely improper and unethical fashion, she's citing God and playing the victim.
It'd be different if Willis was apologetic, or in a religious context, repentant. She hasn't shown an ounce of contrition, though. Instead, she's doing what Democrat politicians who aren't white always do: Claim racism.

He also hit her on spending for Ukraine and her position on climate change as well. Perhaps most of all, Carlson was disturbed by her position that people should register to be on social media which he hit as not a conservative position.

How not to deny something
Rep Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband Jayson Boebert had minor domestic dispute at a restaurant on Saturday in Silt, Colorado.
In a statement to The Denver Post from her campaign manager, Boebert said, “This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I’m moving. I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested.”
I think I would have said
Jayson and I were married for 18 years. We have been blessed with four sons and one grandchild. When a marriage like this must end, it's not surprising that emotions run high. Neither of us was arrested. Neither of us was cited by police. Neither of us wants the other prosecuted. Mostly, we want to resolve our differences amicably and privately.
Rep Boebert is a lightning rod for every leftist and elitist in the country. If you drink beer, you probably like her. If you can imagine saying "what a delightful chablis," you probably hate her. Either way, the Denver Post and papers like it have been fervently praying for her to lose an election.

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - A 16-year-old student was arrested after police say he assaulted his teacher.
A few minutes after 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Colerain Township police said school resource officers were notified that a teacher was assaulted by her teen student inside a Colerain High School classroom.
An initial investigation led officers to find out the student “ingested an unknown drug” before becoming “distraught,” Colerain Township police wrote in their report.
The 16-year-old then assaulted the teacher and a classmate before running out of the classroom, police explained.
The teacher was punched “multiple times in the head,” according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.
The teacher was taken by EMS to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
At the hospital, the prosecutor’s office said the teacher had her skull cap removed to prevent damage from swelling. The Cleveland Clinic describes this as a “major brain surgery.” Family members tell FOX19 NOW she has yet to wake up.
Responding officers later found the 16-year-old student in the school’s career center lobby, the police report states.

A Missouri teacher has been charged with statutory rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student while other students served as “lookouts” — with the boy’s father also facing a felony charge for condoning the disturbing relationship.
Laquey High School math teacher Hailey Clifton-Carmack, 26, was arrested in Garden Ridge, Texas, on Friday after she “was suspected of fleeing the State of Missouri” to avoid arrest warrants, according to law enforcement.
Allegations of the sex crimes committed by Clifton-Carmack first arose on Dec. 7, 2023.***
Clifton-Carmack — a recently divorced mother of two — would often wear “tight or low-cut shirts” to show off her “headlights” and “tight leggings that ‘showed off her camel toe,’” according to court documents.
The witness told investigators the victim was the reason “her divorce was pushed through” and that “Hailey had wanted a divorce due to her husband only wanting to ‘do butt stuff,'” the court document revealed.***
In a shocking twist, new charges have been brought against the boy’s father, who allegedly revealed to others that he was aware of his son’s illicit relationship with the teacher.
Mark Creighton was arrested on Thursday on charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
On Wednesday, a second witness revealed they told the teen’s father of the alleged wrongdoings, to which he replied he was aware Clifton-Carmack and his 16-year-old son were in a “sexual relationship,” according to court documents.***
The father also allegedly shared he knew that his son and the math teacher used other students as “lookouts” to have sex during school hours.

Military police are threatening to charge a sex worker who offers discounts to Canadian soldiers and senior leaders are warning troops to stay away from the Kingston-area woman.
But such efforts have backfired and sex worker Christina Lea Gilchrist tells this newspaper that she is being inundated with messages from military personnel interested in the services she provides.
The selling of sex in Canada is legal but military police allege Gilchrist broke the law with the “unlawful use of military uniforms,” according to police documents.
“Upon review of your website, it was noticed that you were not only advertising your services wearing a military uniform which is a controlled piece of clothing, but also displaying other parties engaging in sexual acts while also in uniform,” military police stated in a message sent to Gilchrist on Dec. 18.
But Gilchrist, who offers discounts to Canadian Forces personnel, pointed out she has repeatedly stated in her advertising that she is not nor has never been a member of any military. “I’ve never walked around in public pretending to be a soldier,” she explained. “People in movies dressed up as soldiers aren’t impersonating soldiers, so why do (military police) think that I am?”***

The Justice Department, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Air Resources Board (CARB) and California Attorney General’s Office today released the details of a proposed settlement with diesel engine maker Cummins Inc. for alleged violations of the Clean Air Act and California law. Beyond agreeing to pay a $1.675 billion civil penalty – the largest ever assessed in a Clean Air Act case – Cummins has agreed to spend more than $325 million to remedy the violations, which included the use of software “defeat devices” that circumvented emissions testing and certification requirements.
Under the settlement, Cummins must complete a nationwide vehicle recall to repair and replace the engine control software in more than 600,000 RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 pickup trucks equipped with the company’s diesel engines. Cummins will also extend the warranty period for certain parts in the repaired vehicles, fund and perform projects to mitigate excess ozone-creating nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from the vehicles and employ new internal procedures designed to prevent future emissions cheating. In total, the settlement is valued at more than $2 billion.***

Ray Epps, 62, pleaded guilty in September to one count as part of a deal with Justice Department prosecutors. He admitted to engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds after storming the Capitol.***

A former Oregon Department of Human Services employee, Zakary Glover, 30, pleaded guilty [Jan. 9, 2023] to violating the civil rights of a woman with developmental disabilities who was in his care by engaging in sexual misconduct with her.***
Glover worked as a direct support crisis specialist for the Office of Developmental Disabilities Stabilization and Crisis Unit. On Nov. 2, 2021, Glover transported an adult woman in his care to an outing in Salem, Oregon. The victim suffers from severe autism and epilepsy, cognitive delays and very limited verbal ability. Staff members responsible for her care communicate by showing her picture books, displaying YouTube videos or drawing pictures.
During the outing, Glover detoured down a dead-end road in Aumsville, Oregon. Glover parked the van and then, using force, attempted to and did cause the victim to engage in a sexual act without her consent. After doing so, Glover forcefully grabbed her and then positioned his body in a way that allowed him to attempt to force her into another non-consensual sexual act. Glover admitted that the victim did not consent to any of the sexual activity. Among other offenses, his conduct constituted attempted aggravated sexual abuse.

"The feds charged the president’s son under a rarely used statute that the Supreme Court may overturn.
…When a grand jury indicted Hunter Biden last week for buying a gun in 2018 despite using crack cocaine, the legal logic was clear: You can’t own a gun if you use illegal drugs, and he clearly did both.
The Navy Reserve had discharged the president’s son four years earlier after he tested positive for cocaine, and he discussed his crack addiction in his 2021 autobiography, 'Beautiful Things.'
That gives special counsel David Weiss substantial proof that Biden lied when he signed the required ATF form pledging that he did not use illegal drugs so that he could buy a .38-caliber revolver — and that he possessed the gun illegally because of his drug use.
But the seemingly straightforward case is also very unusual. Federal prosecutors almost never file stand-alone charges against drug users who buy or possess guns.
In the rare cases in which they do, prosecutors usually have hard evidence in the form of physical guns and drugs that were discovered in the defendant’s possession. It’s usually after a drug search or traffic stop turns up those guns and drugs.
In this case, law enforcement never apprehended Biden with drugs, or even the gun.
'I can’t recall a single case like this,' said former U.S. Attorney for North Dakota Tim Purdon, who has both prosecuted and defended dozens of federal firearms cases. 'I was an active practitioner in that space for 20 years.'
The list of celebrities who have openly discussed possessing firearms during times that likely overlap with illicit drug use includes podcaster Joe Rogan, actor Brad Pitt, and members of hip-hop group Cypress Hill, whose first album describes possessing guns and marijuana simultaneously in nearly every song.
In theory, the FBI could go chase any of these people down based on that information alone. In practice, federal law enforcement rarely charges these crimes at all.
'It’s hard to find cases where they just charge someone with this,' said Dru Stevenson, a professor at South Texas College of Law Houston. 'It’s almost always incident to a drug bust. That can happen because of a traffic pullover and they find drugs in the car. They do the drug arrest and they find the guy with a gun, so it’s an extra charge.'
Without such hard evidence, proving that drug abuse coincided with a gun purchase or possession can become tricky.
'Beyond reasonable doubt is a very high standard,' Purdon said. 'To prove that someone was a drug user in possession of a firearm, an ideal case would be a blood test taken within an hour of a person handling a firearm that showed the presence of a drug. Without evidence of that sort, I think a lot of prosecutors would be concerned about carrying the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.'
The Justice Department does not routinely publish prosecution data broken down by charging statute. But of the 7,373 firearms offenders sentenced in 2021, the U.S. Sentencing Commission identified only 5.3% as prohibited possessors of firearms because they were drug users. That amounts to about 390 offenders nationwide, or a little more than half a percent of the federal criminal caseload at the district level.
'It’s incredibly unusual for this to be prosecuted, especially since he didn’t do anything wrong with the gun, other than possess it,' said Stanford Law School professor John Donohue. 'And he only had the gun for a matter of days ― it wasn’t a long period.'
Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter Biden’s brother Beau, discovered the gun within a couple of weeks of the purchase and threw it in a dumpster behind a grocery store. A man later found it in the trash while looking for recyclables.
'I don’t think there’s any doubt that the fact that he’s related to the president is harming his prospects here,' Donohue added. 'Probably hundreds of thousands or millions of people have done what Biden has done, and no one has prosecuted them or thought to prosecute them.'"

President Biden goes on vacation
President Biden has left for Delaware and a 10-day vacation. I might be concerned about who’s running the White House with him away, but I assume it’s the same people who run it when he’s there. In an incident of suspicious timing, not only is he getting out of town just as all the Hunter Biden scandals are finally reaching critical mass and being noticed by the media, but as he was leaving for over a week on a Friday, the news was quietly released that he finally acknowledged in an interview with People magazine that he has a seventh grandchild.

If he thought this was going to stop the criticism of him and his wife Jill for ignoring the child, it didn’t. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”

I understand the skepticism. It’s one thing to respect the child’s privacy or to stand back while the parents work out their differences. But that’s a far cry from instructing your staff to say you only have six grandchildren, as if this one doesn’t even exist.
Still, I’m not going to pile on. Whether it’s out of political expediency or a long overdue burst of human decency, I’m just glad that he’s finally doing the right thing by acknowledging his granddaughter. Now, how about really acting like a grandfather and inviting her to the White House and giving her the gifts that should have been in the Christmas stocking for her that should have been hung up for the past four years?

Merrick Garland has named a special counsel to take over two major criminal investigations re Trump’s crime wave. They are the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol and those documents that he kept at Mar-a-Lago. Right away DJT started talking about witch hunts. Everything is a witch hunt. Seems we’d run out of witches.
One woman charged with Jan 6 crimes said something like: People were going in (she sort of got swept up)....it was like a Black Friday Sale.
There is an email from the ABT Orchestra Committee (on which I served for many years). A few odds and ends. There is a new company manager. So much changes in the world of company management that the new person is gone before you get a chance to meet them. One item: apparently there have been complaints about the music director’s behavior (!!). I had no idea. Odd that we are even allowed to complain about the man who could call us into the office and tell us we’re fired (it’s not quite that simple but that’s the gist of it). I read this with some amusement and wonder what incident(s) set this off.
Note: I’m pretty sure that, barring extraordinary circumstances, next Tuesday’s night gig will be my last appearance on the stage at Carnegie Hall.

Coke at the White House
The “unknown item” found in the West Wing that forced a brief evacuation of the White House Sunday night and drew a Hazmat team to the executive mansion initially tested positive for cocaine, according to officials and a dispatch call made that evening.
“We have a yellow bar stating cocaine hydrochloride,” a DC firefighter stated in a radio communication at 8:49 p.m. on Sunday.
“Bag it up and take it out,” the firefighter told the Hazmat team.
The white powdery substance was found in the residence’s library on the ground floor of the building, according to the dispatch call.
However, officials familiar with the incident told The Post the purported cocaine was found in a holding area in the West Wing that is only accessible to White House staff and guests.***
First son Hunter Biden, 53, who has acknowledged a prior addiction to crack cocaine, was on the White House grounds Friday before heading off to Camp David with his father for the holiday weekend.***
Rumors circulated in April that the first son may have been crashing at the White House for a time to avoid being served with court papers by the mother of his love child.
In his memoir “Beautiful Things,” Hunter detailed his years-long battle with cocaine addiction, which he said intensified after the death of his brother Beau in 2015.

Hunter Biden apparently filmed himself smoking crack behind the wheel of a car in 2018 — the same year he took a picture of himself driving 172 mph in a Porsche, according to thousands of newly uploaded photos from the first son’s abandoned laptop.
Biden, 53, is seen flashing what looks like a crack pipe and smoking it while driving through a residential neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia, on June 12, 2018, according to the photos uploaded by Marco Polo, a nonprofit firm headed by former Donald Trump aide Garrett Ziegler.
Less than two months later, he was seen racing to Las Vegas on August 1, when he took a snap of the car’s dashboard, revealing that he was going at least 172 mph.

The rifle-wielding suspect who donned a bulletproof vest before allegedly shooting dead five men and injuring two children in Philadelphia has been identified as a Black Lives Matter supporter who shared gun-toting memes on social media.
Kimbrady Carriker, 40, was nabbed shortly after the bloodshed in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood Monday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing sources.
Cops haven’t yet publicly disclosed the suspect’s identity.
On his Facebook page, Carriker posted two pictures of him wearing a bra, a women’s top and earrings with his hair braided long in March, three months before the alleged shooting.

Here’s how.” The story doesn’t explain what was found, instead focusing on the process, implying that it’s maybe shady to use financial records to investigate financial crimes. Meanwhile an IRS whistleblower, Gary Shapley, has come out to say that his work on the Hunter Biden case was obstructed and that he was blocked from pursuing leads into the person Hunter called “dad” or “the big guy.” They were right to pump the brakes on Gary’s rather nosy tendencies. “Dad”? That could be ANYONE. What’s next, going after the guy for locking in some defense contracts in exchange for some time with “Papa” or “Daddy Dearest” or “My dad the president, Joe Biden?” What are we, a banana republic?
Here is what Shapley said to CBS News: “We have to make sure as a special agent for IRS Criminal Investigation that we treat every single person exactly the same. And that just simply didn’t happen here.”

DETROIT (AP) — A teenager awaiting sentencing for killing four students at a Michigan high school has been “exhibiting sporadic, disturbing behavior” in jail, prosecutors said, just a month before a key hearing to determine if he will serve a life prison term.
The disclosure about Ethan Crumbley, 17, was made in a court document this week and at a routine monthly hearing Friday in Oakland County court.

The staffing rate sits at 1.36 officers per 1,000 people, marking the lowest per capita rate of officers in the state since the 1980s. Washington state has the lowest law enforcement staffing rate in the country, with WASPC Executive Director Steven Strachan saying this data marks the 13th year in a row Washington holds ranks.

The Alaska Department of Corrections has instituted a new policy that banned the use of altar wine during religious ceremonies, effectively barring Catholic Mass from being offered at correctional facilities.
“No altar wine or other alcoholic beverages will be used by anyone who is involved with any activity. The use of a non-alcoholic substitute (juice) for altar wine may be considered,” the interim policy established on June 6 reads.***
The interim policy effectively bans Catholic masses, which require a priest to consecrate and consume both bread and wine in order for the Mass to be considered valid.***
The 2004 Vatican instruction Redemptionis sacramentum states that “It is altogether forbidden to use wine of doubtful authenticity or provenance, for the Church requires certainty regarding the conditions necessary for the validity of the sacraments. Nor are other drinks of any kind to be admitted for any reason, as they do not constitute valid matter.”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, “The essential signs of the Eucharistic sacrament are wheat bread and grape wine.”
Catholic parishioners are only required to receive either bread or wine during communion, as Jesus is believed to be fully present in both species. But Catholic doctrine dictates that both species must still be present at the Mass and consumed by the celebrant. Yet the Alaska Department of Corrections policy does not even allow solely the priest to use or consume alcoholic wine.***
A source familiar said that Catholic Church leaders in Alaska are preparing for potential legal action to fight the policy, but are concerned about retaliation.

CNN — A New York architect is in custody for the Gilgo Beach murders, an unsolved case tied to at least 10 sets of human remains discovered since 2010 in suburban Long Island, according to two law enforcement sources.
This is the first arrest in the long-dormant case, which sparked conflicting theories about whether a serial killer was responsible.
The man in custody was identified as Rex Heuermann, multiple sources told CNN Friday. How many murders he has been connected with is unclear.

The case involves a 17-year-old student at a Rome high school.
She described walking up a staircase to class with a friend, when she felt her trousers fall down, a hand touching her buttocks and grabbing her underwear.
"Love, you know I was joking," the man told her when she turned around.
After the incident, which happened in April 2022, the student reported the caretaker, 66-year-old Antonio Avola, to police.
He admitted to groping the student without consent, but said it was a joke.
A Rome public prosecutor asked for a three-and-a-half year prison sentence but this week the caretaker was acquitted of sexual assault charges. According to the judges, what happened "does not constitute a crime" because it lasted less than 10 seconds.

After arresting him in 2018 with meth, several guns, and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office called him a “prolific thief and career criminal.” Calhoun’s most recent convictions came in November 2019, when he pleaded guilty in separate cases to a raft of felonies, including burglary, unauthorized possession of a stolen vehicle, and injuring a police officer and a police dog when they attempted to arrest him.***

Manuel Diego Soza had no idea the trouble ahead when he tossed his old Texas license plate in the trash at an AutoZone store earlier this year.
Months after throwing away the old plate and putting his new Colorado plates on his silver Subaru Forester, police officers showed up to Soza’s Denver apartment and took him to jail on theft charges.
Their investigation hinged on the expired Texas license plate. A Hispanic man had walked out of a Walmart store with a stolen $199 speaker and climbed into a vehicle bearing that license plate. A Westminster police detective said Soza, who is also Hispanic, was “clearly” the thief.***

But that conclusion was flawed, Soza contends. Beyond the neck tattoo, the man in the photo was believed to be between 18 and 25 years old, with a height of about 5 feet, 3 inches; Soza is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 32 years old.
“He had a neck tattoo, he didn’t look anything like me,” Soza said. “He was just another Hispanic male. I assume (the detective) saw my name and was like, ‘Hispanic male, this matches somehow.'”

During the investigation of Hunter Biden a
former supervisory special agent confirmed on Monday that the FBI and Secret Service were tipped off about an interview with the younger Biden on the day before the interview was scheduled to occur.
According to the testimony, IRS and FBI criminal investigators were instructed to stand down outside of Biden's house on the day of the interview and told not to approach Biden until he called them.

Robberies may also be a way for people looking to dabble in more serious crime.
MPD arrested 19-year-old Isaiah Matthews on Tuesday after police said he stole a victim’s car keys at gunpoint in D Street SE.

Mexican cartels are quietly expanding their global criminal empires to include mass theft operations targeting big-box stores, luxury retail brands, and small businesses, then selling the stolen goods online and laundering the profits through Chinese brokers.
The same transnational criminal organizations, known as cartels, that have facilitated the greatest-ever human smuggling operation across the U.S.-Mexico border over the past two years and simultaneously caused the fentanyl epidemic in America now have a hand in organized retail crime.
“It’s a $70 billion a year enterprise — organized retail crime,” said Eric DeLaune, special agent in charge at the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations, HSI, arm within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, during an announcement this week of a public-private partnership between HSI; U.S. attorneys in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi; and industry leaders from Albertsons, Home Depot, and Walmart to create an Organized Retail Crime Alliance.

Nearly half of NYC fare-evaders arrested this year had open warrants for other crimes — including at least one accused killer.
Of the 2,502 people cuffed for fare beating this year, 1,136 — or just over 45% — were already being sought for arrest when they tried to hitch a free ride on the city’s transit system, according to disturbing new NYPD data obtained by The Post.
NYPD Transit Chief Michael Kemper told the MTA Board Monday that fare-beaters nabbed this year also had warrants for weapon possession, felony assault, and drugs.
Many fare-beaters also came strapped — with more than 200 caught carrying deadly weapons, including 13 guns and over 200 knives, Kemper told the MTA Board.***
The shocking numbers come a month after Claude White, a homeless man accused of fatally stabbing Tavon Silver to death last month on a southbound 4 train, was charged — days later after he was caught trying to skip out on a subway fare in Harlem wearing blood-stained pants, cops said.
White, 33, was squabbling with Silver, 32, over drugs, then grabbed a steak knife Silver had on him, and plunged it twice into his chest, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said this week. White then tossed the knife into the subway tunnel, threw his shirt in the trash, and fled the 23rd Street station, Bragg said.

Spying on U.S. citizens
The FBI improperly used surveillance powers to conduct searches for information on a U.S. senator, a state lawmaker and a state judge, according to court records released Friday as part of a public records request.
The FBI’s improper use of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) was documented in an opinion from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) and is sure to pose challenges for an intelligence community lobbying for the reauthorization for what it sees as one of its most vital tools.
The tool — which allowed for warrantless spying on foreigners located abroad — has long been criticized as a backdoor tool for gaining information on Americans who may be communicating with those being surveilled.
And critics complain the information gathered by the agency through 702 is too easily tapped for investigations with no foreign nexus.
The FISC outlined three examples of instances where FBI personnel conducted searches of “sensitive query terms,” like those of U.S. public officials or candidates, without first seeking approval from the FBI’s deputy director.

A disgraced Wisconsin prosecutor secretly recorded himself having sex with three women, including one he was prosecuting.
Daniel Steffen, 52, was an assistant district attorney in Burnett County, Wisconsin, during his crimes. He was heard in at least one of the recordings promising leniency in exchange for sex, according to the criminal complaint.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he was convicted in April. He faced a maximum of 10.5 years behind bars.***
Steffen's illegal escapades between 2018 and 2020 were exposed after a witness told investigators that Victim 1 "openly talked about having sexual relations with a Burnett County ADA in exchange for leniency on criminal cases."
The woman was in court after violating an order of protection against her child's father. She ultimately had to pay a fine.

San Francisco shoplifters were seen walking out of a Walgreens drugstore with items they did not pay for — on three occasions while CNN cameras rolled.
While reporting on the shoplifting crisis facing San Francisco, CNN’s Kyung Lah noticed a man walking out of the Richmond neighborhood store with items in hand.
“Did that guy pay?” Lah asked a store employee standing nearby. The employee told her he had not.
Lah said she witnessed two other shoplifters stealing items during her 30 minutes in the store.
Stores across San Francisco have begun chaining up frozen food cooler sections and placing items displayed on shelves behind locked plexiglass. A local school board president in California has been inundated with threats that left-wing activists will dismember her, kill her children, and slaughter her pets. Her crime? Saying that teachers should not keep parents in the dark if their children begin to “identify” as transgender.
The new Chino Valley (California) Unified School District Board of Education policy states that school officials will notify parents in writing within three days if a child seeks to “identify” as a gender “other than the student’s biological sex,” use different pronouns, adopt a different name, or use the restroom or join a sports team of the opposite sex.
The board adopted the resolution Thursday by a 4-1 vote, with member Donald Bridge casting the lone dissenting vote.
“The next morning, our district got a phone call” from an anonymous caller threatening “to kill me, and they said that they were going to dismember” school board president Sonja Shaw, the official revealed on “Washington Watch With Tony Perkins” on Monday. Police alerted Shaw to the threat shortly before a previous interview on the show last Friday.
Then Shaw looked at her district email account, where she said she saw messages stating, “You’re going to die,” with a series of profane epithets. “Your children are going to die, and your animals are going to die.” For a “point of reference, they would name what kind of animals I had,” Shaw added.

A bombshell legal filing in the US Southern District of New York late Monday revealed that “Brin became a client of JPMorgan’s San Francisco Private Bank in 2004” — one year after Epstein introduced Brin to Jes Staley, a former executive at JPMorgan.
“The overall Brin relationship is one of the largest in the Private Bank, of +$4BN,” wrote banker Robert A. Keller in a memo, who the documents claim was introduced to Epstein by Staley.
Brin, who’s also behind the single-family office Bayshore Global, also met with the CEO of JPMorgan’s asset and wealth management division, Mary Erdoes, plus other JPMorgan executives and members of Bayshore, the memo filed in court states.

Fix the Court, a charity that used to be a project of the New Venture Fund, an influential nonprofit group that the left-wing dark money behemoth and for-profit consultancy Arabella Advisors manages, is helping to lead a seemingly coordinated campaign demanding Supreme Court justices publicize more about their finances. Those mounting efforts haven't stopped Fix the Court from not reporting activities on financial disclosures that could constitute grassroots lobbying, multiple tax lawyers told the Washington Examiner.
That Fix the Court may have not disclosed lobbying could further undercut its position as a watchdog committed to "transparency." This Ukraine instigated a Civil War w/ Russian speaking Ukrainians in the southeastern Donbas Region; a War that has been ongoing since April 2014.
This Ukraine has violated a 2015 Cease Fire Agreement literally at will, leading to more than 14,000 deaths of Russian speaking Ukrainians.
This Ukraine is downplaying incidents of Anti- Black Racism against Afrikan Families trying to cross Ukraine's border into Poland, & ignoring pleas from Afrikan Nations. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin is offering Safe Haven to Tanzanian Students.
This Ukraine doesn't hide the fact that it has incorporated the Neo Nazi 'Azov Battalion' into their National Guard.
Former Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko called them 'Ukraine's Best Soldiers' during his Presidency. Ukraine's '1st Jewish President', Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has been noticeably silent about the Azov Battalion... All's fair in Love & War I guess- as long as they dish out punishment to The Russian Army, no harm, no foul(?) Over the last 8Yrs, members of The Azov Battalion have been accused of terrorist like attacks against Russian speaking Ukrainians, People of Color, The LGTBQ..., Roma, & Tatar Communities in Ukraine. The General Population have been mostly silent.
The Ukrainian Government has a historical reputation of corruption; so much so, that Ukraine's (current) likelihood of inclusion into NATO is far-fetched @ best. The ongoing death & destruction in Ukrainian Cities could have been avoided. NATO could have made this public knowledge. Why did The West instigate Vladimir Putin? A lot of Media Space is being used to paint Putin as a monster. None of the Mainstream Outlets look into what is motivating The Russian Leader. They scoff @ Putin's notion of 'denazifying' Ukraine, but are silent about the activities of Neo Nazi groups in Kyiv, & in Southeastern Ukraine.
The contradictions are stark. Russia is being accused of restricting Free Speech, but The Ukrainian Government has restricted the Rights of Southern Ukrainians throughout the Civil War. Jimmy Dore & Aaron Mate' spoke about how Volodymyr Zelenskyy shut down 3 Russian Speaking TV Stations, as a Goodwill Gesture to Joe Biden. Now, for some reason, Donald Trump is being framed as a catalyst of the War in Ukraine- for attempting to extort an investigation of Hunter Biden; but it was the Obama- Biden Administration that were catalysts, when They supported a coup that forced Viktor Yanukovych into exile. For his part, the Former President was playing both sides against the middle, & got burned.
Yanukovych was courting inclusion into the EU- a concept that was rejected for years. At the end of The Cold War, NATO promised Russia that while Germany would be reunited, NATO would not expand '1 inch' into Eastern Europe. This would afford Russia a measure of security & peace of mind, knowing there were a Bloc of 'Buffer States' between them & NATO Nations. Over the last 30Yrs, 14 Eastern European Countries have joined NATO- So much for Good Will & Keeping Promises. For The Record, Mikhail Gorbachev didn't get this promise in writing, so it was declared 'open to interpretation'... Georgia's recent attempt to join The EU & possibly NATO should be a clear message of what Vladimir Putin is willing to do for Russia's National Security.
Viktor Yanukovych mulled over an offer from The EU, & Russia countered w/ a more attractive proposal; some allege: 'an Offer that he couldn't refuse'. Yanukovych declined The EU's Offer, & Pro- Western Ukrainians took to the Streets. The Maidan Revolution, or Revolution of Dignity was born. The result led to Yanukovych's ouster, & the eventual election of Petro Poroshenko. Then Vice President Biden convinced the IMF to extend an $18B loan to Ukraine, to stabilize their economy. It's alleged that the money quickly found its way into the hands of Ukrainian Oligarchs. Around this time, Hunter Biden begins his tenure @ Burisma, earning $80,000/ month. Recent postings of emails from Hunter's 'lost laptop' allege that he may have received as much as $100M, w/ 10% put aside for 'The Big Guy'.
Poroshenko is an Ultra Nationalist. His mantra is: 'Army Language Faith'. The Russian speaking Ukrainians in the Donbas Region protested his philosophy of National Socialism'. The protest intensified to talks of secession, & the worst kept secret was made apparent- Ukraine has 2 philosophies, Pro- Western, & Pro- Russian. Civil War breaks out in Southeastern Ukraine, & the Ukrainian Military cannot contain the uprising. Militia Groups, financed by Oligarchs (Neo Barons) enter the battle, & Turn the Tide in favor of the Ukrainian Government. Poroshenko, impressed by their battle prowess, incorporates the Azov Battalion into the Ukrainian National Guard. They are included in Training Exercises conducted by the U.S. & NATO countries. Controversy over Azov's involvement in these trainings has staggered, but not stopped their inclusion.
Geopolitical Commentators- Noam Chomsky, John Mearsheimer, Vijay Prashad, & Max Blumenthal have All pointed to a Western Policy of 'poking' The Russian Bear. Despite warnings of an inevitable Russian reprisal, NATO & The EU continued their 'Membership Drive' into Eastern Europe. Ukraine & Georgia, both sharing borders w/ Russia, have become a Red Line. The above commentators have All said that the best case scenario for Ukraine, is to stay neutral. They could be a Real Buffer State, w/ influence in both Russia & The EU. They also All agree that NATO is an Anti- Russian Organization that should've been dissolved @ the end of The Cold War.
Former U.S. Ambassador to The U.S.S.R., Jack Matlock described NATO's 3 main purposes as:
To keep The Russians out
To keep The Germans down
To keep The Americans in
The issue of Sanctions on Russia is tricky. Western Europe depends on Russia for Oil, & about 40% of their Natural Gas. OPEC Nations haven t been quick to increase production, & while American Competitors may see an opportunity to expand in this Market, the needs of American Consumers, & the Logistics of filling this European Need have to be considered. On top of this, Vladimir Putin allegedly Sanction Proofed Russia. Putting Sanctions on Russian Oligarchs appears to be an obvious ploy to instigate an assassination attempt on Putin- Good luck w/ that. People forget that the Russian Masses are No Strangers to hardship. Meanwhile, forcing Russian expatriates to denounce Russia & Vladimir Putin comes across as mean spirited & more than a little authoritative. We will have to see how long the Russian Masses will stand w/ Putin.
Mainstream Media shows Us the carnage in Ukrainian Cities to substantiate the narrative of Vladimir Putin as a War Criminal. If we're using the Same Model, doesn't that make Obama, Netanyahu, Macron, MBS, Erdogan, & Sarkozy War Criminals as well? For The Record, I don't have a Horse in This Race. From a Black/ ADOS perspective, This is a White On White Event. Neither Side has shown any regard for Blackfolk. Historically speaking, we're talking about The Rus/ Vikings versus The Kazars & Cossacks... This is an Ancient Beef! Joy Reid & Black Cable Television Personalities try to frame Ukraine as a Multicultural Nation, but Mainstream Media's emphasis is on White, blonde hair, blue eyed individuals being 'murdered by Putin's Missiles'. News Commentators lament over 'Middle classed individuals who could be your neighbors' fleeing from 'Civilized European Cities'- a far cry from the description of Syrian, Palestinian, Yemeni, Libyian, Sudanese, & Haitian 'Refugees'.
The outpouring of support for Ukrainians is heart warming. Most of Us wish them well, & hope for a timely end to hostilities there. Tens of Millions of Ukrainians have been uprooted from their daily life. Russia & Ukraine are the 'bread basket' of Europe- this Special Military Operation WILL affect the Global Food Market. That said, I noticed how Europe literally opened their Borders & Wallets wide to accept Ukrainian Refugees, & to arm their effort to resist The Russian Army. Where was the outpouring of support for Muammar Khaddafi? He was the VP of the A.U., & a valuable ally in the War On Terror... What about The Kurds? Recent memory recalls how the European response to Syrian Refugees was less than hospitable.
The American Government was swift in their removal of 5,000- 10,000 Haitian Refugees; but They're just as quick to accept 100,000 Afghans, & now 100,000 Ukrainians into the U.S... The emphasis on 'European Refugees' is almost as curious as NATO & The EU's refusal to put 'boots on the ground' (or planes in the sky). Volodomyr Zelenskyy is not a stupid man, he has to see that Ukraine is being used as a Western/ American Proxy against Russia... It looks like The Ukrainian Government is sacrificing their Citizens & their Cities, in return for inclusion into the E.U. Aside from all the imagery of Ukrainian suffrage, the Real Focus appears to be on reducing Vladimir Putin's Power & Global Influence.
Some of the soldiers in the Azov Battalion that were interviewed have said as much. They bragged that they love to fight, & have no problem being The Vanguard for a New Europe- for The European. Before the Russian attack, Ukraine was being called a Focal Point of White Supremacist & Neo Nazi activity. Men were coming to Ukraine for training & battle experience. A number of Americans w/ ties to various White Supremacist Groups made their way to Ukraine. These people are Anti Russian, & like it or not, Russia has a Right to protect its Border. The attacks on Russian speaking Ukrainians is what sparked this War. Vladimir Putin would not have an excuse for entering Ukraine, if the Neo Nazi sentiment in the Southeastern Region wasn't so prevalent.
Instead of addressing this, The West, led by The U.S., is proceeding w/ an agenda to lock Russia out of The World Order. Maybe it's just me, but I think that Putin anticipated this move. Russia has historically craved acceptance from The West, but has never gotten more than a 2nd Class European Status; despite their rich Culture, History, & Resources. The 'Thrill' may be gone. Joe Biden & his NATO Partners, are acting like banishment from World Politics will do some measure of damage to Russia & Vladimir Putin. They All ignore the fact that Russia has geopolitical options outside of Western Europe. Nations of 'The Global South' have been slow to condemn Putin's actions. Instigating more involvement w/ Brazil, India, China, & South Afrika should concern NATO, The EU, & The IMF. Germany & France in particular are playing a dangerous game. They both rely pretty heavily on Russian Gas, Oil, & Wheat. Any hardship placed on Russia, could come back to haunt them both.
NATO, is an extension of The Anglo- Atlantic Alliance set up by King Edward VII & Teddy Roosevelt 120Yrs ago. The World was changing, & Great Britain was being squeezed out. King Edward created a series of alliances w/ European Powers, America, & Japan to stall a plan to create a network of Railroads that would extend from Turkey to Germany, Germany to Russia, & from Russia across the Bering Sea to North America, & down to Argentina. In essence, this plan would bypass the global network of British Ports that afforded & maintained British Naval dominance. King Edward instigated a series of Wars to drain resources set aside for this network; the fallout from those skirmishes lead to WW1. Joe Biden appears to be using a similar tactic, to forestall attempts to replace the American Dollar as the dominant Global Currency.
Joe Biden has taken the role of Leader in negotiations between NATO & The Russian Government. He sounds pretty tough, but I'm sure that Vladimir Putin remembers Biden's Exit Strategy in Afghanistan. From this angle, Biden looks toothless. No Nation is willing to chance setting off a Nuclear Attack (WW III), so the issue of what to do about Putin's devastation in Ukraine ends in a large question mark. Joe Biden is trying to force China's hand, but President Xi Jinping has a better perspective than We do. I find myself agreeing w/ Chinese Ambassador to The U.S., Qin Gang. The Ambassador recently spoke on 'Face The Nation', where he explained to Margaret Brennan that The whole narrative is not being told. Her strong arm tactics couldn't change his mind about the role that NATO & The EU played in instigating Putin.
I also agree w/ Ambassador Qin Gang that China's relationship w/ Russia & The West puts them in a unique position. Condemning Vladimir Putin's actions is fruitless, if the goal is Negotiations. What is needed, is real diplomacy. The Ambassador spoke on having the 'courage' to do this. Throughout this ordeal, Putin has repeatedly asked for an end to the bombing in the Donbas Region, denazification of Donbas, & assurances from NATO & The EU that Ukraine & Georgia would remain Neutral Countries in that Region. According to Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is being unrealistic @ the Negotiation Table. Like Viktor Yanukovych, he appears to be working both sides.
Talking Heads continue to speculate on Putin's likelihood of using Chemical Weapons, but it looks like he's comfortable w/ simply laying waste to Ukrainian Cities that NATO & The EU will be obliged to rebuild. His recent declaration- which basically lays claim to the Donbas Region for Russia, appears to be how Vladimir Putin intends to save face over suffering noticeable losses to the Ukrainian Army. The Black Sea has strategic significance to Russia, & everyone In The Know speaks on Putin's desire for a land bridge between Crimea & Donbas; but I doubt that he ever intended to encroach on NATO Territory. Vijay Prashad talked about 'Historical Chauvinism' & how it plays into Geo Politics. I see Vladimir Putin asserting himself as The 'dominant' Alpha Male in The World (The Uber Mensch), & daring anyone to challenge his position. Fyodor Herzl would probably be very proud.
-I guess we will have to see how this plays out.
