it is so disheartening seeing people being able to correctly identify and criticise the actions of russian invasion of ukraine and not be able to recognise/not giving the same scrutiny to the israeli genocide.

i wish people just stopped bringing Ukraine up whenever they talk about Palestine bc it’s always “the world supports Ukrainians because they’re white” and never “both these nations suffer from their oppressors and we’re in solidarity with both”

Please don't get me wrong, I am as antiwar as anyone else, but...
Ya know what's sad?
People calling the genocide that is the Israel v Palestine war 'irrelevant,' especially in regards to what Israel is doing to the Palestinian peoples. Granted, a majority of the people that are pro-Isreal are also pro-Russia in regards to the war in Ukraine, but I digress.
This war is not irrelevant. This war is, like the Ukrainian war, deserving of respect and consideration. To ignore any mass destruction- be it war, famine, or anything like that- is cruel. Not only is it cruel, it is also inhuman.
Where is your empathy?
Where is your sympathy?
People are dying and unlike in the past, there is something we can do about it, even if it small.
Unfortunately, donating money to Gaza at the moment is going to be very difficult, especially considering that Israel blocking that stuff. If you want to donate money, perhaps try to donate to a charity that is currently working to save lives in Gaza?
That might not be the best way for some, so another thing that you can do is contact (if you're in America) a head of congress. If you're not American (like me), you can contact someone in parliament/government and ask them to call for an immediate ceasefire.
Another way you can do your part in this war is raising awareness. Via using #ceasefire and #freepalastine, you can help get more and more to understand the truth of this war and raise their own voice. You can also join in marches, if that's your thing.
Again, if you want to donate to a charity, I highly suggest doing research on them first, as it can be a very blurry line lol.
Please remember that this goes for Ukrainian too.
Stay safe, drink water and spread awareness.

TW: war, torture, russians.
Today morning: four damn air raid alerts starting from 4 am.
Today evening: leaked video of ru soldier torturing ukr soldier, in replies a dismemberment of a dead body can be found too.
Also if I don’t post any war news, it doesn’t mean nothing bad happens. I am overwhelmed by this shit most of the time. But believe me, every damn day we have good fat reasons to say/write/post that russia is a terrorist state.

Talking a little bit about 'boycotting Eurovision' under Keep Reading, feel free to scroll down if is not what you want to see.
The most used argument on the matter of banning Israel from Eurovision is the fact that Russia got banned from Eurovision, which is the worst argument anyone could bring.
Kindly reminder that Russia didn't get banned because of the war with Ukraine. Russia got banned because many countries has threatened to withdraw from the competition. Sadly, that's a big difference.
Yes, the countries has threatened to withdraw because they support Ukraine and see Russia as the party in the wrong. That was their reason. EBU's reason for banning Russian was because those countries threatened to withdraw, not because the war was bad and Russia must be stopped.
This situation isn't the same. Why? Because many countries support Israel in their genocide. Because this time around Palestine is the party in the wrong. Because we're taught to believe that Israel isn't in the wrong here.**
Boycotting Eurovision won't work. There are people out there who don't know the truth and want to watch Eurovision. There are people out there who don't care and will watch Eurovision regardless of the situation. There are people out there who, despite having the facts, still don't see Israel as the bad guy in this situation and will watch Eurovision. Sadly, boycotting won't work unless everyone does it.
The only way Israel will get banned, in my opinion, is by going through the same thing as Russia. If other countries threatened to withdraw- and not any countries, but the ones investing the most in Eurovision, then yes. That will get Israel banned.
Otherwise? The only thing we do is hurt artists that don't deserve it. Artists who use Eurovision as a way to get more exposure and experience. Artists who deserve to be heard.
Don't vote for Israel's entry. Don't stream their song either. Heck, turn off the TV when is their turn to perform.
**This whole situation (the war, not Eurovision) isn't only black and white. Civilians die daily because of this, all of them from both sides. Innocent people who has no fault. Let's not forget that
#Honestly I'm tired of the whole 'Russia got banned Israel should be banned too' speech because is truly bullshit#It has nothing to do with the war per se. It was because countries were unwilling to participate in support for Ukraine#If the whole situation was truly political then other countries wouldn't be able to participate either#Is it fair? No. But that's the situation#Alas Eurovision exist so we forget about the bad in the world for a bit and be more united. Have some fun. Stuff like that#I'm going to get so much hate over this omg. But this is just my opinion/point of view on the matter#Sadly this whole situation isn't even about helping the innocent put in danger by this situation. Is about hate like everything else#My wording is so shitty but people on the internet don't understand shit unless I call 'X bad Y good' so we go with that#eurovision 2024#Also another reminder that THE WHOLE AUDIENCE chanted 'Cha Cha Cha' during eurovision 2023 and were rotting for Finland to win just to lose#Many entries got fucked up by the jury votes too. Our opinion doesn't matter as much as some of you might think lol#Jury votes GOT CHANGED during another eurovision under shitty reasons (I can't remember which year but there were 5 or 6 countries who got#their votes changed). Eurovision has never been fair#We always get annoyed over it and trash talk it then watch it the next year#Also this is not the same as boycotting brands and shit like that who support Israel. No money go from Eurovision to Israel.#This competition as far as I am aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't support Israel in any way#Be it financially or by donating arms or any other way#Their only fault is for allowing Israel to participate. That's all#Weapons* don't ask me why I said arms instead sorry#i'm tired lol#Fair warning I won't answer any replies to this post

5. A gift from the past.
Up until the moment the officer gazes at the holo of the infant boy, it’s easy to believe Loi’e may have been mistaken in her identification of the eyepatch-wearing Imperial. But as he removes his cap to show the scars where two horns once protruded from his skull, we know her intuition has served her well. And instead of just another nameless Imperial soldier, a cog in the Empire’s galactic machine, we begin to see him as Loi’e did. A little boy who was stolen, a child who was indoctrinated, and a young man who can still change his mind.

I think I have only seen western fans being a little obsessed by their fave celeb's morality. Yes, entertainers hold a lot of power but, they could so very easily abuse it? They could post the most uninformed take and imagine the impact of it. Do you know how much a celeb has actually researched to speak about any international topic or national topic for that matter? And are there no other artists that are talking about it? If your own morality and ethics are dependent on a celeb's insta post then I think you should start supporting celebs who make those posts because honestly there a lot of them and they are facing repercussions of speaking up. Why don't you support them? Why do you need to wait for a celeb to speak up for you to call your local representative or educating your fellow friends on the same? Why aren't you checking which representative is supporting this genocide and which are speaking against it?

not-so-fun fact: if you claim to be "neutral" in a war/genocide you are supporting the oppressor

it's embarrassing how long this took to sink in for me but i've finally realized the reason the vast majority of people people are so evil and insane about israel vs palestine is because they fundamentally see neither side as human
#that's why the Other Side is always full of faceless monsters and every single one deserves to die#and why deaths on Their Side are perfectly acceptable collateral#you don't see this in most other conflicts that get western media attention bc there's an acceptably White side and in i/p there is not#this is why there are nazis on both sides because nazis can either root for ethnic cleansing of jews or ethnic cleansing of muslims#win/win for them!#especially because no matter what side they root for there will be catastrophic death and they hate both sides!#and that's why i see so many people including jews and muslims casually wishing genocide on whichever side they don't like#because they simply do not care. it is not real to them#they have convinced themselves there are no humans in this conflict#they have convinced themselves there is an easy win situation for their Side#and there is not.#they have worst of all convinced themselves that whatever violence their Side commits is retaliatory and therefore acceptable#that the genuinely evil government leading their side consists of bold freedom fighters#that anything done in the name of that freedom is okay#and in doing so ironically they have lost their own humanity because they are so determined not to see others'#i give grace to any caught in the middle of this. i understand hatred and fear and wishing death to those hurting you#but to westerners? to the americans happily cheering on civilian deaths? nope. none for you#you say things you would never say about ukraine because you do not believe any humans are involved in this war#shutting off electricity and leaving everyone to die? fine. bombings? fine. rape and kidnapping? fine. they're not humans after all#expressing support for either hamas or the israeli government is unfathomable to me#and yet i'm seeing it en masse from those who supposedly want peace and leftism#obsessed with an abstract idea of Ye Glorious Revolution Needs Bloodshed (so civilian murder okay)#and in turn indistinguishable from the right wingers calling for gaza to be glassed. not to Both Sides but. Both Sides.#genocide is never an acceptable solution. i cannot believe that is a controversial statement#no civilian deaths are ever valid collateral. even if you personally do not quite see israelis or palestinians as human#you might think you do but ask yourself what you would do if it was you. on whichever side you see as evil. is it “okay” now? acceptable?#collateral for justice? what is necessary to ensure your side wins? it would be okay if you and your loved ones died? that's okay?#what if it was happening in america? england? your hometown?#is it still okay?#if it isn't...why not? why is your life more important than that of an israeli or palestinian?

people who don't support Ukraine because the US government does and thus "something sinister must be going on" are enablers of russia's senseless, brutal war and support the torture, rape and murder of Ukrainian civilians.
