Does anyone else see similarities between what Randall was told happened after his “death” and The Count of Monte Cristo? Which by the way, happens to be originally French, and was also made into a few musicals?

Like, did Descole just get some basic points from Randall’s history and go “oh boy I can turn this into a recreation of my favorite musical” and just run with it?

#Randall: why did you make me think everyone had betrayed me?#Descole/Desmond: …okay have you ever seen/read Count of Monte Cristo?#Randall:#like I know we all like to make Phantom of the Opera jokes about Descole #but I feel like we should also factor in Monte Cristo #bc the whole deal of Descole being screwed over by someone so he tries to get his revenge but in the process ends up hurting others #kind of fits with Dantes?#(Dantes is the name of the protagonist from Monte Cristo if you’re unfamiliar)#but yeah all joking aside I’d say part of why Descole made Randall think he was screwed over was because he was sort of projecting #maybe he believed part of what he told him and thought he might have found someone who understands him #only to find out the world was just waiting for Randall to come back no repercussions #and so out of spite he just decided to go all in on this #but the idea he wanted to recreate his favorite musical is much funnier #by the way I do have to admit I really only got to like Chapter 4 of Monte Cristo #and have listened to the musical #and know some of the basic rundown of the plot #so if anyone knows Monte Cristo better and wants to correct me go right ahead #professor layton #jean descole #randall ascot #miracle mask #miracle mask spoilers #count of monte cristo #technically #random stuff
