Lee Krasner lost husband Jackson Pollock in a car crash. The next year, she finished “The Seasons” and said: “The question came up whether one would continue painting at all, and I guess this was my answer.”

some works from the women abstract expressionist painters of New York 1950s - from top, Elaine de Kooning's 'Bullfight', Joan Mitchell'c 'City Landscape', Lee Krasner's 'Celebration', Helen Frankenthaler in her studio surrounded by her works, and Grace Hartigan's 'Red Bowl'.
the women abstract expressionists are very underrated and also fascinating, I read a book about them called ninth street women it was really good. i do not own images I pulled them off the internet.
also friendly reminder most of these paintings are massive, like meters long.
