[Layclaire Week 2023 - Day 7 (Free Day)]
Here’s the fic I wrote for day 7 of the @layclaireweek . I’ve been wanting to write some university Layclaire for a while, and this was the perfect excuse! :D
Summary: Hershel walks Claire home after studying at the library.
A few disclaimers: Since this fic is slightly longer than the previous one, I’ve decided to simply post the AO3 link. There are also a few Miracle Mask references (with implied spoilers for that game, but nothing explicit).

I’m a day late and a dollar short but allow me to introduce you all to my wonderful “Otter Au”! In which Hershel and Luke are mythical creatures known as otter selkies. After getting injured from swimming into a dangerous fishing trap, Claire ,who in this AU is a marine biologist, finds and takes our boys strait to the Aquarium she works in and helps nurse them both back to health.
Seeing how kind and caring she is with him and his precious little pup, Hershel soon enough falls in love with Claire and will soon shed his otter selkie pelt so that he can be with her.
Meanwhile I’m an idiot who can’t seem to get days right.

Claire opens her pocket watch. “Oh, no, I’m going to be late…we’ve got a very important experiment going on today.” She’s not late yet, but she can’t get to the lab fast enough to be on-time, so…
Hopefully Bill will forgive her for running late. And Dimitri doesn’t arrive until after she does. She’s a bit concerned — they had planned to run the experiment without him, in spite of the risks. After all, he was the one who was the most resistant. Claire still doesn’t understand — she’s taking all the risks upon herself.

Layclaire week: Day 1 - Firsts
their first time just... properly hanging out! - a while back I did some drawings on how I thought Hershel and Claire’s first meeting went in their first year of university - SO I wanted to expand on that.
It’s that weird time where you’re not sure if you’re just classmates or actually friends, and finally start to spend time together outside of school and really get to know each other - that’s always the weird part of friendships for me fdkhjsf. No crushes or anything of the like between them yet - but there’s definitely chemistry. They really enjoy each others company and conversation ^^
