*not every single recognized species and subspecies is  represented because some i could find zero information on, let alone  pictures

*common names are taken from the IUCN red list if applicable and iNaturalist (and very rarely wikipedia)

*idk how far i’ll go with this cause there’s a LOT of animals

Received this vintage antelope skull! I have yet to determine the exact subspecies, but I know it is either a Korrigum or Topi (both Damaliscus lunatus ssp). I also have a blesbok skull (Damaliscus pygargus phillipsi) and I can't wait to compare the two!

This skull has quite the backstory. In 1960 he was shot, a headshot that killed him instantly. The bullet made a big hole near his eye and passed through the skull. The skull was cooked to remove the meat and free the horns from the horncores (making the skull VERY greasy). After that it was used for taxidermy! The mount went to France, where it survived for a few decades until the owner decided it needed to go and sold it. The buyer wanted the mount for it's skull but after taking it apart, found that it was in multiple pieces. He decided to sell it too. And that's where I come in! Now the skull is in the netherlands, far from where he once roamed the African plains over 60 years ago...
