The Epic Alien-Inspired Installation By Mire Lee
In 2021, the Berlin Schinkel Pavillon opened a special exhibition as part of the Berlin Art Week. In a scenario that is as seductive as it is dystopian, «HR Giger & Mire Lee» combines for the first time the worlds of Swiss visionary HR Giger and the works of South Korean artist Mire Lee.

Expo2020: The South Korea Pavilion
The South Korea Pavilion stood as a magnificent testament to the rich and influential Korean culture at Expo2020 in Dubai. As an individual deeply captivated by the allure of Korean traditions and customs, this extraordinary pavilion was at the top of my must-visit list. Its sheer size and eye-catching spinning cubes made it impossible to ignore amidst the vast Expo grounds. The South Korea…

On this day, 29 May 1931 a striking rubber worker, Kang Ju-ryong, in Japan-occupied Pyongyang, Korea, began a high-profile solo protest on the Ulmil Pavilion landmark. The pavilion, on a scenic park, was a popular spot for morning walks, so hundreds of people soon gathered to listen to Kang who delivered a powerful speech about the fate of rubber workers who were on strike in the city against pay cuts. Referred to by the nationalist journal Eastern Light as the "Woman-in-the Sky", Kang had got onto the roof by tying a stone to the end of a role of cotton cloth, throwing it at the roof until it caught then climbing up it like a rope. Dozens of police soon arrived, who then also summoned firefighters to get her down. But Kang said that she would jump from the roof to her death if anyone put up a ladder. With the background of the great depression, a strike had begun at the Korean-owned Pyongwon Rubber factory on May 17 in protest at pay cuts of 20-25% for its 49 women workers. The workers went on strike, and the company retaliated by firing the strikers and hiring scab replacement workers. The women then responded by occupying the factory on May 28, until they were evicted by the police. Kang remained on the roof for nine hours until firefighters snuck up on her and pushed her from the roof into a net which had been placed underneath her. The protest galvanised huge public support for the strikers. And despite police repression and multiple arrests, the strikers also had a lot of success in preventing scabs from getting to work by militant picket tactics, blocking tram lines, attacking trams, and in some cases abducting scab workers and forcing them to apologise. By early June strike achieved some concessions, including the rescinding of the pay cut, and the rehiring of the majority of the strikers who had been fired. Reactions to Trash Boss's Chapter 126
TLDR; Cale finally arrives at the Kunlun School. Cale's lucky gacha experience. Mi Ryeo joining Caleism.
Soos? LSH = ✅ CJS = ❌
Finally, Cale is inside the Kunlun School! I thought we're going to have more conversations while they climb up the mountain, but thankfully, it began with Cale inside one of the school's pavilions.
It's elixir time, but our Chief Eunuch Wi is worried about our trash boss. It seems like Wi had seen the blood-soaked clothes being carried by Ron after Cale consumed the first elixir. So Wi is worried now. Welcome to the gang, Wi!
Team Leader LSH had 2 mentions in today's chapter! 🎉One was when he stepped forward and said, "I'll be by your side." as Cale declared his desire to consume the elixir. The other mention was when Sui asked Cale, "Are you going to start right away?" after Cale opened the boxes of the two elixirs.
The scene of Cale opening the elixir boxes was like watching someone play a gacha game. There were 3 possible attributes: Fire, Wind, and Earth. Cale even mentally prayed to the gacha gods before opening the boxes 🤣
What did Cale get? He got one UR and one SSR!
You got Fire Blossom (UR rank)!
-A fresh flower with live fire. Legend has it that this flower was gifted by an immortal to the first emperor of this land. . . .
You got Lava Ginseng (SSR rank)!
-This ginseng is said to have grown out of lava.
Cale then did this under the table:
Tumblr media
B-But there's trouble! Jungwon messaged Cale, begging him to only consume the SSR one because consuming the UR one would get him scolded by GoB. Gasp!
Apparently, the flavor text of the UR elixir was indeed true, so Jungwon was troubled. But with just one word of irritation from our trash boss, scared baby Jungwon accepted that he would be scolded later by GoB. Please, GoB... Just scold him, okay? Don't step on him like what you did to GoD, okay? Our Jungwon is still young...
Meanwhile, a representative from the Demon Cult arrived. New character is Angry Demon? Not sure if it's "angry", "brain", "lightning", or "hunger" because the Korean word has so many different meanings. Anyway, he was the general commander and tactician of the Demon Cult, so it's possible it's Brain Demon? I'm actually surprised that we have another Demon.
If I recall, there was the 5 Saints and 5 Demons. We already completed the list of the 5 Demons back then:
Sword Demon
Heavenly Demon
Blood Demon
Murder Demon
Halberd Demon
And now, there's another person with a Demon title? Or does everyone from the Demon Cult have a Demon title?
Moving on, just as Angry Demon was having a conversation with the higher-ups of the Good Faction, they all felt a massive energy of fire. Cue poetic descriptions of the Fire energy they felt to be similar to the effects of Dominating Aura. I mean, Mi Ryeo was beautifully describing it with joy despite her breath being choked...
Untitled Poem by Jegal Mi Ryeo:
This incredible power will set everything right, Like how everything turns to naught where the fire has passed, Like the path he walks.
.
.
.
...Mi Ryeo, when did you join Caleism? 🤣
(The path mentioned in the poem refers to the 'righteous path' or the dao. Good Faction peeps follow the righteous path, so Mi Ryeo was talking about Cale's journey to the righteous path.)
Overall, this chapter was hilarious. The author brilliantly captured every player's gacha experience when they get an ultra rare pull. And more people are joining the Caleism church! Cale's journey to godhood is progressing step by step (but without his knowledge, hahaha)!

Costume Cdramas I watched in 2023
This was my first year in Dramaland (both Chinese and Korean). And I have to say that for the most part I have enjoyed my journey in discovering the dramas. This list includes dramas that were released before 2023 as well.
7. Starry Love
It is a story of twin sisters - the gentle and kind Liguang Qing Kui and the smart and cunning Liguang Ye Tan. Qing Kui is betrothed to the heveanly prince and Ye Tan is betrothed to the demon prince however mistakenly they switch places and have to navigate the heavenly realm and demon realm alone relying on their wits. For me the strongest aspect of the drama was the bond between the sisters. It focuses more on the romance of Ye Tan and Xuan Shang and the heavenly realm which I was not much interested in so I skipped through a lot of it. However, I did enjoy the romance of Qing Kui and Chao Feng and the demon realm story which was unfortunately not given enough screen time. As the heavenly realm part of the drama failed to get me invested in both its characters and story, I didn't enjoy this drama a lot.
6. Love you Seven Times
Xiang Yun, a fairy working in the marriage pavilion and Chu Kong, the God of War are accidentally entangled by the red thread of fate and go through love tribulations. I enjoyed their romance and the story was also good. However, I feel it would have turned out better if the drama had more episodes so that the tribulations could be more immersive and impactful. Also, it had less action than I expected from a Xianxia. It was still a fun watch for me.
5. Ancient Love Poetry
This is an epic story of gods and love spanning thousands of years. I will not even attempt to give a primer for its story. The romance, story, action everything is great and it also has really good secondary romances and friendships are also good. The problem I had with this drama is that I enjoyed the first God realm arc a lot however in the second arc I couldn't get fully invested in Houchi and Qing Mu. Also, as a novice to xianxias I had some trouble following the story from the second arc onwards which meant I couldn't enjoy it as much. I still consider it a must watch for xianxia fans but its not for newbies that's for sure.
P.S.- I was devastated with Yue Mi's death so I'm happy that we'll be getting the continuation of her story with Moonlight Mystique.
4. Love between Fairy and Devil
It is a drama about Orchid, a low ranking fairy and Dongfang Qing Cang, the Moon Supreme of the Moon Tribe who are enemies of the immortal fairies, and their forbidden romance. The romance (of both the main and second couple) is really good, the story is compelling and the dynamic between the main and secondary cast is enjoyable. I found the action somewhat lacking. This is a really enjoyable drama especially for those getting into xianxias as the story while not simple, is easy to follow.
3. Romance between Tiger and Rose
In this drama, Chen Xiao Qian, a screenwriter transported into her own story, becoming the Third Princess Chen Qian Qian, a side character. Armed with the knowledge of her own script in which her character is soon to be killed in the third episode by Prince Han Shuo, the male lead, Xiao Qian is determined to stay alive and return to her own world. It is an excellent romcom with great chemistry and fun bickering between the main leads. While the story is straight forward for the most part, it does offer some commentary on gender discrimination and gender norms. It is a really fun and a must watch and has great rewatch value.
2. Story of Kunning Palace
Jiang Xuening is the selfish and ambitious daughter of a court official who ruthlessly uses her charm and cunning for becoming empress. Her schemes lead to the downfall of the royal family and the ruin of both her childhood sweetheart Yan Lin and the once incorruptible Zhang Zhe. Desperate and full of regret, she pleads to exchange her life for the freedom of Zhang Zhe. She awakens in her 18-year old self, who has yet to enter the palace with a chance to do better this time. Even though she vows to steer clear of the palace and its court intrigues, she becomes entangled in them anyways. Apart from Jiang Xue Ning the main cast includes : Xie Wei - JXN's teacher and a ruthless political mastermind, Zhang Zhe - an upright and dedicated officer in the Ministry of Justice, Yan Lin - loyal heir of the Yan family who is in love with JXN, Shen Zhi Yi - the optimistic and resilient princess. It’s so rare for a drama to combine so many great things - a competent and smart female lead, gripping script, top tier looks, chemistry (with the male lead and the secondary leads), steady pace, no childishness, very happy ending. All the actors did an amazing job, in particular Bai Lu who embodied JXN and depicted her thoughts and feelings in a way that the audience could connect with JXN and root for her. The character arcs for the entire main cast were satisfying and done beautifully. I only wished that they showed the past life in one go and with some more scenes for JXN's character growth to be more impactful and that they removed the bright spotlight aimed directly at the camera which took me out of those scenes. This is definitely a must watch for costumed cdrama lovers.
1. Till the end of the moon
Li Susu, an immortal time travels 500 years into the past to prevent the ascension of the Devil god, who goes on to destroy the world in the future. It's a story of love and hate, good and evil, redemption and damnation. The characters are very well conceptualized and depicted beautifully by talented actors, stunning costumes, really good hair and makeup, and great cinematography. The amazing production and set design along with impressive visual effects and CGI really immerse the audience in the world of TTEOTM. Their romance is my ultimate enemies to lovers pairing. It has just the right amount of fighting, messiness, animosity and angst for me. Their visuals, their chemistry, their acting and the story everything was so great. Who else has three epic weddings in one drama? For the most part the story was gripping, progressed at a good pace and conveyed many themes that become apparent on rewatches. While some were disappointed by the ending to me it was clear that they reunite once again and live happily. I am still not able to move on from this couple and drama.
Full Review of Till the end of the moon here.
You can also check out my modern cdrama rankings.
As I'm still a newbie to cdramas, I welcome your recommendations.

State fair blogging as I pause for Pork Belly Onna Stick:
Tumblr media
It had Korean BBQ on it. Amazing.
We're minimizing livestock barns this year because @coffee-mage-sans-caffeine 's lungs are still sad from COVID, but they had Brabant horses and TWO Standardbreds at the horse barn and the pet pavilion had Schipperke and Puli as well as the GSD, Aussies, and Goldens I was honestly kind of meh on.
Watched a little dock diving exhibition between the dog shows on our way down. I'm hoping we can catch the disc exhibition
The MN State Fair has one of the biggest draft horse shows on the continent, so I got to see all manner of Clydes and Belgians and Perches in the stalls too while I was at it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also hit up the "Miracle of Birth" display, where you can watch livestock from a wide range of species either being newly born or giving birth. It's a really cool way to see things and it gives a ton of experience to vet students, who handle the babies, monitor the births, and show things off to fairgoers.
Next up: the "all the fresh milk you can drink for $2" booth. Mmmm.

SEAGULL X GUN.
"Ready...aim..and THRUST!"
seagull put in wind power in a spear move. Sweat emerged from his head. It was almost nighttime. it took all day to train with gun for an upcoming mission assigned in the deep voice of the master of black rabbit, gun clapped his hand.
"Ok, that's it for today, for doing a good job, following my movements, and following my training process as well, i will treat you to dinner today..it's all on me."
His palm reached to his forehead, the sweat slightly coating a part of his palm, but he was hungry and sore at the same time.
"Ahh. thank you gun, where are we going to eat at? Order some food in the golden Jade palace or a restaurant?"
the spear was put down in the weapons rack, a small towel scrubbed into seagull's face.
"Hmm... maybe a restaurant, we can go to the plum blossom pavilion or go get some noodles."
Gun closed the gates to black rabbit, I didn't take a while to go back to ilyang. Seagull thought about a lot of stuff about gun, how he was assigned to train you, how he treats you to a restaurant at first, and how he's a kind person that is a real one that protects his men, and the one that seen the real power of the errand boy that turned into a master. it shook him once they got to ilyang. it seems to be a event going on.
"Gun, ilyang seems to be crowded. What's going on?"
a slight look of blush took over his handsome face.
"ehm..it wasn't a treat, but I been stuck on the time to train you on whatever mission that crazy bastard gave us, so I found a event step up here this morning so I took up on the offer to take you there to spend time for you.."
a grin stuck to his face, his straightforward words took up to heart, chinese music played in the event.
Korean food smelt in the air of ilyang, the beauty of women kissed the men around the event, dango, traditional dancing, and a perfect chance to get some food. his voice spoke up at this.
"So seagull. where do you want to eat first?"
"Hmm... there is a chinese restaurant here so we can do that."
the doors opened to an open attire to the event. It was mainly red and orange. gun payed for the food.
"what do you want to order?"
there was a menu of many options, many options for food to eat, and definitely spring rolls too.
"Wonton soup."
"Coming right up sir♡"
an awkward silence. Once food was being made in the kitchen of this restaurant, gun spoke up first to shatter the silence like a fresh mirror.
"I wanted to thank you. For devoting yourself to getting stronger and trying your best to remain in rank of black rabbit, I trained you strong enough to go up against the heavenly generals in a 5v1. but it isn't just training too."
"Hm? What do you mean??"
"What I mean.. I mean that it's unfair that I kept my true feelings from you because I'm afraid it was jeopardized in our training cycle.."
their food came in before Seagull could say a word.
"No no..it's ok to express what you need to say towards me. and what feelings?"
His face almost turned pink.
"it's feelings of.....what I'm trying to say is that I had a liking to you all this time... even if it means ignoring and cussing out people who don't support the IGBT and people who don't appreciate others being happy with their sexuality."
a warm laughter spilled out of seagull's voice.
"mhm..so are you saying you want to be in a relationship with me..?"
He nodded with his adorable face, filling his face with some Chinese chicken.
"Let's speak about it more after dinner. ok?"
It was 2 hours later, and the event was still railing the streets of ilyang with the music. they walked back to black rabbit, they didn't say a word to each other for the walk back to the clan.
"Thank you for taking me out for dinner, gun. I really appreciate it♡'
his warm hand went to his cheek, facing his brown eyes, his lips crashed into seagull. he pulled away, covering his mouth out of embarrassment.
"Yes..I do want to be in a relationship with you so.."
(Sorry, it's short, but hopefully, it's good enough)
