Yessss I played ww with my cousins once when I was like eight and had the FATTEST CRUSH on him when he got his wings 😔 idk why but it might’ve just been his vibes. This was mad fun to draw though so thank you for the request!

Nightfall
Linktober 2022 prompt #7/31
Word Count: 326
Incarnation: The Wind Waker (during)
Trigger Warnings: None Applicable
Komali forgot he had wings as he ran into the main hub of Dragon Roost Island, his urgency so frantic that more than one adult Rito had to swerve out of his way.
“Father!” He exclaimed, his father in a rather serious conversation. “She’s gone, she–” he swallowed to catch his breath. “Night has fallen and she’s still missing. Night is no place for a Rito to fly safely, just like you told me. We have to search for her!”
The chieftain gave the Rito he had been conversing with a distinct look and a nod before the Rito stepped away, the chieftain kneeling to pay full attention to his son.
“Medli was seen departing on Link’s boat this afternoon,” he explained, placing a hand on the lad’s shoulder. “She is fine. I spoke to her myself before she left.”
Komali didn’t seem to understand, his head shaking and red eyes searching for clarity. He was trying to be brave, but the Rito trusted the protection of Valoo for a reason. The ocean outside their island was a dangerous place, and the Rito who worked the Island Postal Service were fully-grown and specially trained. Medli was neither.
“Why would she leave?” Komali asked.
“She has a great role to play, son,” the chieftain explained. “Something foretold by her late teacher, her mother, and all the ancestors that preceded her. She is to help Link harness a power that will bring peace to these seas for good.”
Komali’s head went downcast as he began to understand.
“Will she come back?”
The chieftain laughed.
“Of course she will,” he replied. “In fact, you can be the one to greet her. Watch the horizon for a golden light to the south, then fly to Headstone Island. I have no doubt she’ll be elated to see you.”
“That far?” Komali questioned excitedly. “On my own?”
His dad nodded.
“With bravery beneath your wings, there is no distance you cannot travel.”

@cronchytoast gave me an amazing idea for a wind waker au ship fic where Komali and Medli stow away on Tetra's pirate ship and it has dire consequences considering Medli is a sage and Komali is the crown prince of the Rito...i think something might haooen that separates Tetra from her crew and she has to bring Komali and Medli home before her crew are punished over accusations of kidnapping all while shes running from a bigger threat like idk Bellum? Maybe they run into a simple island boy who befriends the two Rito and doesnt trust Tetra to be telling the truth about the situation so tags along ti make sure they make it back to the island and then slowly learns to trust Tetra...
oh to be the captain of a pirate ship far from your crew running from a demon who wants to turn you to stone while escorting 2 stowaways who are partiatially responsible for ur circumstances but are too important to just ditch and somehow picking up some random kid whos surprisingly useful and kinda cute to help you on ur journey

I don't think many people quite understand the importance of a symbiotic bond in an early magic users development.
It isn't just important to encourage magical expression within an individual: providing the essential tools to build up (and beyond!) a young magic users potential are some of the most joyous parts of watching their growth;
whether it be an ancient book of spells, a staff carved from the wood of a blessed tree, or an amulet imbued with magics through hundreds, if not thousands, of generations. Observing how the magic of both object and wielder evolve over time is a wonderful thing to behold.
Once that bond is formed, removing the magic user from their chosen object can be a disastrous and heartbreaking (if not character building) experience.
I mean just look at him-
You gonna take this baby boys magic rock away?
You gonna snatch that rock right outta his lil hands? For hyrule's sake?
No. Didn't think so

Figured I might as well post this on its own... Very excited to announce my brand new fic, Shades of the Sea, is finally live! This fic is a labor of love for the adult timeline, full of action, adventure, drama, and of course, angst. I hope you check it out, because I have a lot of fun twists and turns planned for it! ^_^
