Little life update

Rehab has been going so well! I got out of detox today, and my cravings are getting lesser each day. I’ve made a lot of friends, my faves being E and S. I met them in my Dharma recovery group (which has been SO helpful). Despite there being a lot of younger people here, I’m vibing better with the older folks. I went swimming today, have been practicing mindfulness a lot, and mostly just doing a lot of self care.

Also I rapped all of “My Shot” from Hamilton at karaoke last night and so many people were like DAMN. It’s just so nice to do and enjoy things sober that I would normally feel I “have” to be drunk for.

I’m starting groups for reals tomorrow. I’ve been going on and off during detox, and I’m excited because the ones I’ve been to have been SO supportive and helpful.

All and all, I’m feeling pretty dang good :-)

Norwegians are fun because everyone has at least dabbled in some kind of extreme sport and no one knows how to small talk. So you will meet the sweetest, most unassuming woman who works as an accountant for some tech company and when you ask her what she likes to do for fun she will get a wicked spark in her eye and say "glacier climbing. I know it's dangerous and there's always a chance I won't make it back alive, but that's a risk I'm personally okay with taking." or you might be chatting with someone you don't know that well, and suddenly they'll drop a bomb like "at least you can't fuck up any harder than I did back when I lost the 200 cattle I was supposed to be herding across the Australian Outback". No buildup. No warning. They don't mean to derail the conversation, but you're free to open that can of worms if you want. I swear everyone is batshit under the surface and they will gladly share their wild stories if you ask. It's great.

swallow-tailed kites are slender birds that have long and pointed wings, slim bodies and a very long forked tail. Their forked tails help them to fly! :3 Instead of flapping their wings as much as other birds, they glide and change direction with slight movements of their tail! It’s mesmerizing to watch them fly. >_< Swallow-tailed kites can grow up to 2 feet long from tail to head and have a wingspan of 4 feet long. Their diet consists of small critters and animals. Some being frogs, snakes and lizards. When flying they eat dragon flies out of the skies! Their main predator is the great horned owl. o_O During migration, these birds can travel up to 10,000 miles! Wowee!! ^_^
