So YEARS ago I bought this humpback steamer for $65, because despite the absolutely horrendous paint job someone butchered it with, I knew what embossed tin steamer trunks SHOULD look like
But I didn't have the space to do anything about it until my new apartment with my own garage. So I finally got some paint stripper and started stripping wolf whistle today.
Whoever painted it is a criminal, because even this early, still needing a second pass and covered in residue, it's already looking so much better:
It's going to take a while just to get the paint fully removed, and then I'll have to see what kind of shape it's in in regards to rust and what I want to do to restore it, but oh man, I feel like no matter what I do it's going to turn out so much better than it was before.

Nile Catfish Pendant
Egyptian, ca. 1985-1773 BCE (Middle Kingdom, 12th dynasty)
This fish pendant represents a Synodontis Batensoda, more commonly known as the Nile catfish, a species of fish named for its black belly. Often worn at the end of a plait of hair, amulets like this one were used by children and young women to protect against drowning. This fine amulet is made of gold with stone inlays, including a red stone for the right eye and a green stone for the left. Amulets in the form of the Synodontis Batensoda were particularly popular during the Middle Kingdom, when the fish might have been identified with an astronomical constellation.

Went to clarify with him today and he said there's just some things to wrap up and they won't actually list it, they'll just be giving me a new contract towards mid/end of May, and aaaaa the relief that I don't even have to go through a hiring process again
And the relief at getting a job that's 150% what I've been making at the pharmacy? Amazing
Asked my boss at the district a couple of weeks ago about whether this position would exist next year, was told yes they had gotten permission to consolidate some of them into a full-time one, especially if I'm still interested, awesome, cool, definitely interested I would like that please thanks
Still waiting on anything. No position listed on the hiring portal, no info sent directly to me, just. Idk, will it actually exist? When? Godsakes folks, can I get a clue so I can know what to do with myself?
