*SPOILER ALERT*

Man, the fanbase for Dragon Knight is basically nonexistent. Know how I know this? In the latest season Rukhmini married her friend Diya, confirming her to be a lesbian, and NO ONE is talking about it. It's a shame, I really loved the show and thought it was really good. Sure it's not traditional KFP, but it has it's own thing going and people should give it a chance.

ok i was planning to post this once i finished the whole show, but right now im at the start of the 2-parter near the end of the second season so i feel like i’ve gotten a good handle of the vibes of the show

so tdk is like. well made. the story is a fun collect all the mcguffins plot, some of the show-original characters are engaging (or at least have good designs), and the fight scenes are fun— especially when the weapons are involved

my main thing is that the best parts of kfp:tdk are the ones that doesn’t involve the kfp part of that moniker. which is weird, considering that this was made to be a spinoff, right?

and yet the show goes out of its way to discredit po. his title is taken from him, his co-star blade belittles him for a good portion of the show which is frustrating since this is after kfp3– a point where po’s basically done his whole hero’s journey, he leaves china. hell, even the panda village he lives in in this show is empty of pandas. its like the show wants to throw the kfp parts of itself away so it can do its “Real” story where they go globetrotting

on paper, a retired pirate who wanted to retire into a peaceful life only to get whipped up into a journey, only to get possessed by an intense ghost and having to balance That Whole Situation with helping his son is a fun character on paper. but that’s not mr. ping, who reads as a character who never journeyed far from the valley, from certain lines in the movies! he thought tofu was too wild a dream! when he hears about po going to gongmen, he remarks that out there the dangers and “strange noodles”! what’s the point of erasing his original implied character for an entirely different one? it also doesn’t help that since he’s possessed half the time, ping has to fight screentime with the ghost in his head

honestly, tdk should have been completely original because between the minefield that is the setting based anachronisms and the character choices done for the two legacy characters here its. Sighs

I have mixed feelings about this because yes Luthera looks so beautiful with that headcovering on but I swear to fucking god if they try to give a western girlboss moment like "I refuse to wear this because the men dont have to so its sexist" forgetting that she is from freaking medieval England I will drop the show in an instant. Also if any of the characters is xenophobic to any of the different cultures I will drop it too (I trust the writers not to do that but even so)

Overall this trailer looks so fun and promicing!! I am very excited to see the dynamic between Luthera and Mr Ping and all of the new characters who will appear. I really hope their characters continue to develop properly and I really want to see them experiencing all of the traditions.

Btw I heard they are also going to central america... If there is not a capivara among them I am going to be mad.

I see each KFP series as being set in a different time period. LoA and PoD may be set in the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911) while TDK is set in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), specifically around 1600.
