Partners in Crime Chapter Eight
Notes: I have actually been sitting on this chapter for some time now, but work has been pretty busy and I haven’t had time to update. In this chapter, some cameos and fun.
Tag Squad: @riottstheory @thirst-n-bullshit
“We should go inside,” Jake spoke up, exchanging a look with Raul, who nodded and went to the door. After swiftly unlocking it, the former Mexican cartel bodyguard ushered the other four inside. Detectives Morse and Lovato stepped in, followed by the two Austins.
“So how exactly do you two know Robert Stone?” Detective Lovato asked, her notebook out and open.
“We would sell things to his pawn shop, we went to him often,” Austin T lied. While it wasn’t technically a lie, it wasn’t his pawn shop the two sold to.
“Do you two know anyone who would want to kill him?” Detective Morse pressed. Austin F shook her head, “No, not at all.”
“Do you mind if we have a look around?” Morse asked. The Austins glanced at Raul and Jake, who gave slight nods. Morse looked at Lovato.
“Check the rooms? I’ll be there in a moment,” she said. Lovato nodded and once she was out of earshot, Morse looked at the four in front of her.
“Now, I know there is more to your relationship with Robert Stone, care to explain?” She asked. The two Austins exchanged a worried look between each other.
“Um, I don’t know what you’re talking about…” Austin F said. Morse sighed frustratedly.
“Listen, my mother-in-law is Syndel Okaia, she mentioned that you two know who killed Mr. Stone so whatever information you have will be helpful. And I promise you that whatever it is you tell me, I won’t use it for the case,” she said.
“We didn’t sell to his pawn shop…he was our black market dealer. If we had items that we needed to sell with no questions asked, we would sell to him. Our last deal with him was some…items we stole from the Elite,” Austin T said.
“What kind of items?”
“Mostly jewelry…we sold it to him…it’s likely they killed him for it,” Austin F said carefully. Morse nodded, “We found evidence of torture, it’s likely they are after you two.” The two let out twin dark laughs.
“We know, they already set our old warehouse on fire,” Austin T said bitterly.
“That’s why Raul and I are here, we’re guarding them,” Jake said. Morse looked at him before nodding.
“Alright, thanks for letting me know,” she said. Jake grinned, “Tell Jade I said hi.”
“Of course, she thinks you’re really fucking cool,” Morse grinned.
“Thanks, Bobbi,” Jake smiled. Morse, Bobbi, nodded as Lovato returned.
“Ready to head out?” Bobbi said, looking at Lovato, who nodded and turned to the Austins.
“If you have any more information about the murder, please don’t hesitate to call either of us,” she said and the two detectives handed their cards over before leaving.
Once the two had left, Raul and Jake looked over at the two Austins.
“What is it?” Austin T asked, looking slightly worried at the look the other two were giving him and his sister.
“Listen….you two have been staying inside every day….Raul and I were thinking that maybe the four of us could go out tonight,” Jake said. The two Austins tensed slightly.
“Where?” Austin F asked, crossing her arms to hide the shaking. Austin T reached over, taking his sister’s hand and giving it a squeeze.
“Some friends of ours, Finn and Violet Balor, own a club called The Black Rose. Don’t worry, no one from the Elite will be there,” Raul said. Austin F looked at Austin T, exchanging silent words with just their expressions.
“Okay, we’ll go for a little bit,” Austin T finally said. Jake grinned a smile that made Austin T’s heart skip a beat.
“Great! We’ll head out about five tonight,” he said.
A couple hours later, at five o’clock, the four left their apartment and headed to The Black Rose. From the outside, The Black Rose looked like a typical nightclub. It was a tall building with the name emblazoned in neon lights. There was a long line, with bouncers checking the IDs of those wanting to get in.
“C’mon, we’ll get in from the VIP entrance,” Jake said as Raul parked the bulletproof car. The two bodyguards got out, opening the back doors and the two Austins unbuckled their seatbelts, getting out. The four walked up to the VIP entrance, being stopped by the bouncer.
“Atlas….Mendoza,” the bouncer greeted with a nod.
“They’re with us, Martinez,” Jake said. The bouncer, Mercedes Martinez, nodded and unhooked the velvet rope, ushering the four inside.
“Thanks,” Raul gave her a smile. Mercedes just nodded, a smile ghosting over her lips.
Inside the club was dark, lights flashing on the dance floor in bright colors. A young man with short dark hair bounded up to him, a grin on his face.
“TJ, sup?” Jake said with a grin, slapping hands with the young man.
“Hey Jake, Raul,” the man, TJ, said before turning to the Austins with a smile.
“Hi, I’m TJ, you must be the two Austins,” he said with a grin.
“How did you know about us?” Austin T asked, tensing slightly. TJ let out a laugh, smiling in a friendly manner.
“My Aunt Syndel met you two this morning,” he said with a shrug.
“Are they all here?” Jake asked. TJ nodded.
“They’re all sitting over there,” he said, pointing to a group of purple booths. The four looked in the directions of the booths. The Austins noticed the woman they had met earlier in the morning, Syndel, sitting there. With her was a man around her age with short black hair, his arm casually thrown around her shoulder. Next to him was a young man, early or mid twenties, with shaggy black hair and a friendly smile. He was chatting animatedly with a young woman next to him. She appeared a few years older than him, black hair pulled back into a bun.
“Isn’t that Detective Morse?” Austin T asked, pointing to the blonde woman perched atop the lap of the dark haired young woman.
“Huh, that is,” Austin F said with a nod. Jake and Raul looked at each other.
“We never told you that she’s married to Syndels’ daughter?” Jake said. The two Austins shook their heads in tandem.
“Oops....yeah, she married Syndel’s daughter,” Jake said, scratching the back of his head sheepishly as he, Raul, and TJ led the two over to the family.
“Here are all the drinks!” TJ said, setting down the drinks he was holding.
“Thanks, Teddy,” the dark haired woman said, taking one of the fruity colored glasses and taking a drink while wrapping her free arm around the blonde on her lap.
“Jade, how many times have I told you not to call me ‘Teddy’,” TJ grumbled fondly. Syndel looked up, smiling.
“Jake, Raul, it’s nice to see you two again, along with the Austins,” she said.
“These the two who know about Robert Stone’s murder?” The older man said.
“I’m Austin Theory, this is my sister, Austin Flynn,” Austin T introduced himself and his sister.
“This is my husband, Kenshi (Syndel motioned to the older man), our son, Takeda (she motioned to the younger man), and our daughter, Jade (she motioned to the young woman),” Syndel made introductions.
“So you two know about the murder of Robert Stone?” Jade asked. Austin T nodded, “Yeah...he was our black marker dealer….we think that the Elite killed him because of us selling to him. We stole some of their stuff.”
“Makes sense, they’re bugshit fucking crazy,” Takeda muttered as a green haired girl walked up.
“Jake, Raul,” she greeted the two. Jake turned, smiling at her.
“Hey Shotzi, what’s up?” He asked, pulling her into a side-hug. A lick of jealousy ran through Austin T and he grit his teeth slightly.
“Finn and Violet want to talk to you two….and your friends,” Shotzi said. Jake and Raul nodded, turning to the Okaia family.
“Go, we can catch up later,” TJ said. The four nodded and followed Shotzi to the back office.
“Who are Finn and Violet?” Austin F whispered to Raul. Raul slipped his arm around her waist briefly.
“Finn Balor and his wife, Violet, are the owners of this club. They are also allies of the McMahon family. Violet is Seth’s ex and Finn is a close friend of Seth’s along with being the brother of Seth’s current girlfriend, Becky,” Raul explained quietly.
“Seth finally has another girlfriend?” Austin T joked. Jake smiled at him, nodding.
“Yeah….his girlfriend is named Becky Lynch. But they are also dating another guy named Drew McIntyre. Becky, Drew, and Seth are all dating each other but Becky and Seth are also dating a woman named Charlotte Flair but she also has another boyfriend named Andrade Cien Almas. All of them know about them dating each other,” Jake explained. Austin T nodded as Shotzi opened a door and ushered the four in.
Inside stood five people, three guys and two girls. One of the guys sat at the desk in the middle of the room. He had short dark brown hair and brilliant blue eyes. The other two men stood at his sides, their arms crossed over their burly chests. Both were tall and bald with beards. One of the girls stood behind the man at the desk, she had blue hair and was incredibly pale. The other girl, a blonde with tan skin, was leaning against the desk and smiled when Shotzi walked in.
“Shotzi, meu amor (my love), you’re back,” she said happily, her voice slightly accented. Shotzi grinned, wrapping her arm around the blonde. The blonde smiled at the group before her eyes fell on Austin F.
“Austin???” She said in shock.

Polaris: Kakome, Kakome
Inspired by “Kakome, Kakome” sung by Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka
(Psst. Hey @ask-linkuei-grandmaster, this is also inspired and based off of the RPing I have been doing with you and Hanzo. Just though to let you know.)
____________________^_^___________________
“I’m starting to think this mission wasn’t such a good idea…” Yuki muttered, her voice muffled by her bandanna over her mouth. She walked through the moldy hallway of an abandoned building, being careful with every step. Every five minutes, Yuki heard children laughing, crying, or screaming. Something wasn’t right.
After losing a bet, Yuki agreed to ask Kuai Liang to give her the scariest mission he could find. When he asked why, all she said was that she lost a bet with Frost. Kuai Liang looked wary but before he gave he the mission, he asked if she was absolutely sure about taking it. The female cryomancer said yes.
It was a recon mission that took place in an abandoned building in Shimane Prefecture in Hiroshima, Japan, only to observe and report back to the Lin Kuei with probably all her limbs still together. Reading the report, it said that there was abandoned children that were being experimented on by strange scientists. That alone made it creepy. Nobody said that the building would look like it hadn’t been inhabited in about half a century or so.
Yuki was snapped out of her thoughts when she saw one of the children pulling her long braided hair. The child look like she was ten years old with dirty black hair, and a dark kimono on, along with no shoes on and dark blue eyes. She looked like she was dead.
“What are you doing?” The child asked, making Yuki hesitate. “All the kids should be in the playroom right now.”
“Uh…” Yuki didn’t know what to say or do. Knock her out or actually follow her to see where she goes. “I’m not a kid…” ‘Smart, Yuki. Real smart.’ The child didn’t answer back but did pull Yuki’s braid as if the Lin Kuei was on a leash towards the end hallway to the last door. “Ow! Yamete! Stop pulling my hair!”
The little girl stopped when she reached a door with the light on, opening it to reveal children, all covered up in bandages, one was missing an arm, and all of them looked at Yuki. “We have a new friend. She wants to play with us.”
Yuki’s eyes shrunk at that. “Wait a second, what?” Her eyes wandered around, and then she saw the reason why Grandmaster Liang was worried and hesitant to give her the mission. She saw two people, both male and covered in bandages, with the Lin Kuei symbol. They both looked at her as if she was a tasty piece of meat, and just kept on staring as they both stood up and walked towards her. “Uh, min’na?” Yuki’s whispered words didn’t reach them as they grabbed her arms and threw the female cryomancer to the floor. One of the children brought one of the scientists and he studied her, taking her chin in his hand. He smiled and Yuki could sense the malicious intent behind it.
“I want you to come with me. We’re going to play a little game called ‘Kagome, Kagome.’ I’m sure you’ve heard of it.” His name tag said Akihiko and he stuck a syringe in Yuki’s arm, knocking her out. Before she closed her eyes, the last thing Yuki heard was, “Another Lin Kuei? We’re getting quite popular with them. She’s probably an asset who’s too emotional. The girl will die.”
_______________________^_^________________
The next time Yuki woke up, she was in the middle of a circle of scientists who were hiding something behind their backs. All of her weapons and Lin Kuei clothing were gone and replaced with simple hospital clothes. Even her white and blue tipped hair was taken out of its braid and was flowing down her back. “What the hell? What’s going on?” As she voiced her concerns, one of the scientists came to her and tied a blindfold around her head, covering her eyes. ‘Are they trying to make me feel like Kenshi? ‘Cause it’s not working.’
“We’re playing Kagome, Kagome, Yuki Hanabi, one of the female cryomancers of the Lin Kuei.”
That got Yuki’s attention. “How do you know my name?”
“We have two of your comrades. They know your name, where you’re from, your alias, and your relationship with Sub-Zero.”
“Grandmaster Liang has nothing to do with this!”
“Sub-Zero has to do with everything. Including you, the Lin Kuei, and his fire breathing fiancé. Once you’re out of the way, I’ll go for Scorpion, then your teacher. Not like he’ll ever notice you’re gone.”
That last sentence sunk in. What? “...This is not Kagome, Kagome...isn’t it? You’re going to kill me for your personal gain, then Master Hasashi is next on your hit list.” Yuki summarizes.
The scientist who sounded like Akihiko chuckled. “Smart girl. Too bad that beautiful brain of yours will be ours soon. And in the literal sense.”
“I’ll kill you myself before I’ll let that happen.”
“How can you do that with all your weapons gone and your powers temporarily neutralized? By the time it wears off, your pretty little head will be ours.” Akihiko turned to his coworkers and held his machete tightly. “Now then, let’s begin. Let’s play Kagome, Kagome.”
____________________^_^___________________
Back at the Lin Kuei temple, Kuai Liang was pacing back and forth in his study. Yuki has been gone for more than about two days and was debating on whether to contact the Special Forces that three of his students went missing on a mission. He already contacted Hanzo Hasashi about the situation and was already on his way to the Lin Kuei temple. He looked at Yuki’s sketchbook and the drawing she did of the temple on her first days at the temple. What if she never comes back? What if she’s dead already?
Kuai’s thoughts were interrupted when he heard knocking at the door. When he opened the door, he saw Hanzo and the pyromancer hugged Kuai Liang and pressed his lips to the cryomancer’s. When he let go, he cleared his throat. “Kuai, I heard what happened. How long has Hanabi been away from the compound?”
The Lin Kuei sighed as he looked at the map once more. “She’s been gone for nearly 48 hours minus the time difference. The other two have been gone for about a week. I’m worried. This mission should’ve taken about five hours at most, including the trip back. Yuki’s quiet and precise, but even she should be back by now.”
Hanzo frowned at his fiancé’s worry. Yuki and her comrades should be back, but they’re not. Yuki’s radio was still on, but it wasn’t her voice that was permeating through it. The voices were singing…”Kagome, Kagome?” Hanzo whispered in confusion.
“What?” Kuai Liang asked.
“Kagome, Kagome is an old children’s playground game. Basically a group of children form a circle and chant a song around the player playing the oni in the middle. By the end, the oni blindfolded has to name off the person behind them. I’m guessing in this version, Yuki’s the oni blindfolded in the middle.” Hanzo explained, making Kuai’s eyebrow raised in wonder. “Since this mission is in a very historical building with a very horrifying background. Not even I dare to go in.”
“Really?”
“Yes, there are children there, younger than all three of the Lin Kuei warriors. However, they were all born around seventy years ago.”
The Lin Kuei’s eyes shrunk. “They shouldn’t still be children. They should be full grown adults.”
“Exactly. This is why everyone in all of Japan has a brain and avoid that place. Speaking of brains… Yuki’s a dead woman unless we can stop this. And get the Special Forces involved.”
Kuai Liang nodded in agreement. “Right, I’ll let General Blade know of our situation.” Once Hanzo looked at the map, trying to pin out where the abandoned building was, the cryomancer sighed. “Please be okay, Yuki. I’m coming.”
____________________^_^___________________
What was one hour felt like it was going slow at a snail’s pace as Yuki felt the scientists walk in a circle around her, chanting the song until she flinched. Akihiko was smiling maliciously as he saw the small cryomancer on the door blindfolded and helpless.
“How does it feel? To know that you’re going to die very soon?” The head scientist asked
“How’s it feel that my friends will be coming soon? When Sensei Liang gets angry, even I wouldn’t be in the same room as him.” Yuki asked back, using the same threatening tone.
Akihiko took her chin and pulled her towards him, trying to intimidate the female cryomancer. “You’re so pretty and cute. I can’t wait to chop that cute head with pretty hair off.”
Yuki felt her ears twitch, hearing something...or someone. It sounds like footsteps towards the lab. Akihiko kept sweet-talking her, attempting to make her shake, but it was all for naught. The air, due to lack of ice powers, actually felt colder than before. The chill felt…familiar. ‘Sensei, hurry up. Please.’ As Yuki was still bound, she was unable to move since not one of the scientists wanted their subject to fight them off.
————————————-^_^—————————
Kuai Liang walked around the halls of the old building with Hanzo next to him, trying to be quiet and cautious. They knew Yuki was around somewhere, along with the two other Lin Kuei. “She’s here. I can feel it, Hanzo.” Kuai whispered, walking up the creaking staircase carefully.
The pyromancer waved his hand around, his flames being a source of light. Until he stopped in front of an old door, hearing chanting and someone talking. “Kagome, Kagome…” He whispered. Hanzo turned to Kuai, feeling confident. “Hanabi’s in here. I know it.”
“Is there another way to get in?”
“No. This is the only one.”
“Alright.” The Lin Kuei placed his hand on the door and focused on freezing the door to get in. Once the whole door froze, Kuai Liang kicked it open to reveal scientists circling someone, all of them having machetes behind their backs.
“Who goes-” The head scientist stopped once he saw the two grandmasters of fire and ice. He held onto Yuki’s neck and held the machete there. “Ah, Sub-Zero and Scorpion. I figured you would come for your precious students. Especially her.”
Kuai Liang’s hands covered themselves in frost with rage. How dare he? Threaten and capture three of his students? Especially one who’s close to being a daughter of some sort to him? “Yuki? Are you alright?” He asked, trying to keep whatever patience he had left.
Yuki choked on her words a bit, due to the grip on her neck. “I’m alright, Sensei. They disabled my cryomancy, took away my weapons and tied me up.” She took a sharp breath, trying to relieve the pressure on her neck. “Also, I’m starting to see how Kagome, Kagome is part of this and I officially hate it now.”
Akihiko presses the sharp weapon to Yuki’s neck, drawing blood out. “Well? Any last words, Hanabi?”
She looked at the scientist with a straight face, looking fearless once more. “I won’t be the one dying tonight. The same can’t be said for you and your associates.”
When Akihiko was about to swing the machete, Hanzo, with his kunai, struck and pulled him. “GET OVER HERE!” Kuai froze the other two scientists and went to Yuki and began to untie her.
“Where are Wang and Luo?” Kuai Liang asked, freezing the rope after failing to untie it.
“In a room full of children. Sensei, they aren’t the same.” Yuki answered, breaking the bonds, then giving Kuai Liang a hug. After being surprised for a few seconds, he returned the hug. “Thank you, Sensei.”
“You’re welcome, Yuki. How long is your cryomancy disabled till?”
“For a few more hours. I still need my stuff.”
Hanzo, who just cut someone’s head off, turned to them. “I will gather Hanabi’s things. You get your students.”
Leading her teacher to the end of the hall, Yuki opened the door and showed him the room full of children, including the two Lin Kuei warriors, Luo and Wang. All the children looked at them and walked towards them. “Wanna play with us?”
“No, I’m good. I’m here for only my two students.” Kuai grabbed Wang and Luo, froze the children unconscious, and walked out. “That was easier than I thought.” He and Yuki walked off with her two comrades in hand, but the female cryomancer began to falter behind. “Yuki, are you alright?”
“I’m okay. I think they gave me something else though and everything is really hot and kind of spinning.”
“Your body isn’t used to being without cryomancy for so long. You could be getting sick.” He felt Yuki’s forehead, her feeling very warm. “More than likely, they gave you something that will slow you down with symptoms of a cold. I promise you can rest once we get back to the helicopter. The Special Forces are here and will help you, Luo and Wang.”
Hanzo came running to them, holding a bag with Yuki’s clothes and weapons inside. “I have her things. We should start going.” Everyone nodded and began to get to the exit.
‘Yuki…’
Yuki perked up at the sound of her name and looked around, everyone was quiet on the way back. She sighed. Maybe the fever was going through her head.
‘Yuki, you should be able to recognize me…
There it was again. Yuki officially deemed herself crazy and hallucinating.
‘It’s me. Yuki-onna.’
Yuki found herself in a dark room with a yokai all in white standing behind bars. It was Yuki-onna, the yokai Yuki claimed to have killed her parents. “What the hell? Why are you here?”
Yuki-Onna chuckled. ‘Why am I here? Stupid Quan Chi after what happened about twelve years ago. He put me in you.’
Yuki’s eyes shrunk. Quan Chi…? It wasn’t Yuki-onna? “I don’t understand. I saw you freeze my parents to their death.”
The yokai scoffed, flipping her jet black hair. ‘Quan Chi disguised himself as me then put me in you, making your already genetic cryomancy even stronger. Then he killed your parents, hoping to get an angry reaction from you. I was too much for such a little girl, causing you to faint. That was what really happened twelve years ago.’
Yuki began to shake. All this time, the yokai she had been blaming, was innocent this whole time. Yuki got on her knees and bowed to Yuki-onna. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry! I had been blaming the wrong person this whole time!’ The little cryomancer began to cry, not noticing that the Snow Woman’s hand was petting her hair.
‘My vessel, it’s alright. You were a little girl and never heard of that sorcerer. Now that you and I are one, we will have to find a way to coexist with one another. Like Scorpion with Master Hasashi.’ Yuki-onna soothes, petting Yuki’s snow white hair. Yuki wiped away her tears and stood up. ‘Now then, since Polaris is your alias, I would suggest you call me that.’
“Just like with Scorpion.”
Yuki-onna held Yuki’s hands, feeling the cold through her. ‘Get some rest, my dear. I will take over for now.’
“Please let them know. I don’t want to scare them.”
‘You have my word, Hanabi.’
“...Yuki!” Kuai Liang’s voice snapped Polaris out of her thoughts, making her jump a little. “We’ve been calling your name and you didn’t answer. Please be more attentive next time.”
“So sorry, Sensei. I was in my own thoughts.” Polaris’ voice sounded a bit deeper into an alto range, and although Kuai Liang didn’t notice it, Hanzo did.
Hanzo walked to her and took a look at her face, Yuki’s left eye was in a total pale blue color, as if she was dead, but clearly alive. “Who are you and what have you done with Yuki Hanabi?” He asked with some pieces of a threat in his voice.
“Yuki Hanabi is currently resting up. I have permission to take over her physical body until we arrive at the helicopter.” Polaris answers, making the two grandmasters confused.
“What? Who are you?” Kuai Liang asked.
“My name is Yuki-onna, I am very sure that Yuki has told you about me.” Kuai Liang eyes shrunk. ...How?! “How I came to be inside her is a very long story, but right now, we must avoid the children and remaining scientists until we reach the Special Forces.” Polaris walked forward, past the confused assassins. “I will also be her reservation for Hanabi’s cryomancy, in case if anything like this happens again.”
“Like a back-up power.”
“Exactly, Hasashi.”
Reaching a turn, the group saw the injured Akihiko and his remaining coworkers, all with machetes in their hands. “You tried my hand, Hanabi. Now you will die without playing a fun game.”
“Kagome, Kagome was never fun anyway.” Polaris responds apathetically. Once the scientists ran towards her, Polaris blew on them and froze all of them instantly, leaving Akihiko alone and shaking in his boots. “How does it feel? Knowing that you will die soon?” She took his machete and cut off his arms cleanly. “This is for the innocent children you turned into science experiments.” Polaris then cut both his legs with her spiked ice, making him fall to the ground, staining his lab coat in a puddle of his own blood. “This is for my Lin Kuei comrades.” She then aims her iced paint brush and ice kunai at his neck. “And my sensei.” She stuck the weapons in his head then cut his head off with her blade, pinning it to the wall with a paintbrush before the head hit the ground.
Luo, Wang, Kuai Liang, and Hanzo just stood there in awe, not knowing that Yuki, or Yuki-onna, was even able to do that. They all thought the same thing…
FATALITY
Polaris then fainted, Kuai being quick enough to catch before she hit the ground. He picked her up to rest in his arms and looked at her bloodstained hospital clothing, and hair, wondering even how or why Yuki-onna was now part of his student. Hanzo placing a hand on his shoulder interrupted his thoughts.
“Kuai, we need to go before the children arrive.”
“Right.”
They went through the rest of the orphanage without any other encounters.
__________________^_^_____________________
When Yuki woke up, she was back in her room at the Lin Kuei temple, covered in bandages, in her pajamas, and with an ice pack over her head. She sat up from the covers and held her head, trying to remember what happened before, but coming up blank.
“I see you’re awake.”
Yuki turned to see Kuai Liang, holding an ice pack and a cup of tea. “Yeah, I suppose I am. I don’t remember what happened after I put my head in the clouds.” She accepted the cup of chamomile tea, as he changed the ice pack on her head.
He looked at her, surprised. “You don’t remember? Not one bit?” His knowledge with worldly beings came from Hanzo and his experience with Scorpion, but he remembered everything. Yuki didn’t.
Yuki shook her head, being mindful of her headache blooming. “No. Not one part.” She held her now pounding head, making it harder to think. The Lin Kuei Grandmaster noticed it and helped her lie back down and relax. “What about Wang and Luo? Are they alright?”
“Wang and Luo are fine and are recovering. Right now, you need some rest.” He tucked her in, hoping to have her head back to sleep.
“What about training? I-”
“You will take some days off from training to recover. Right now, head back to sleep. Your fever is being quite pesky.”
“My cryomancy didn’t come back yet?”
“I’m afraid not. The doctor said that it will be a bit longer till your powers come back.” Kuai Liang even per her hair, hoping to calm her anxiety. “Right now, rest.”
Before Yuki fell asleep, she muttered loud enough for Kuai Liang to hear, “Arigato, chichi…” She didn’t say anything after that.
When the Lin Kuei Grandmaster closed the door, he saw Hanzo behind him, smiling. “What?” He asked.
“Do you what she just said to you?” Hanzo asked, the smile not leaving his face. Kuai shook his head, knowing that Yuki speaks only Japanese sometimes. “She said, ‘Thank you, father.’ She called you her father.”
(So sorry for the crappy ending. I didn’t know what to end the story. Happy Halloween, I guess...?)

MK 11 story
Since  there are already MK11 storymode / cutscenes out on net, of course I couldn’t help myself and watch. For now, this is more like chaotic rambling than any serious meta, but I really need to get all the emotions out so, beware spoilers:
Things I like and/or wish were more exploited
RACISM/SPECIESISM IN OUTWORLD what always was a big part of storyline but rarely were talked or pointed out. We see this with Tarkatans, who were always treated as animals / slaves / beneath the Edenians or other Outworld cultures. I liked how Kitana and Jade (who in MK9 called/treated Baraka like dog) changed - or at least started changing that. The fact princess Kitana and Baraka worked against Shao Kahn reminds me one of old MK comics, what only adds points of awesomess.
Also, I freaking love how MK11 gives Outworld cultures so much details. Tarkatans (among them females too), people of Kotal with their masks and painting and all. SO GREAT! Oh, and the people watching fight in arena, cheering all the bloodness and not giving any fuck who will win and become the new khan XDDDD
Scenery. Everyone is So Beautiful. Also, nice to see old arenas, including Shang Tsung’s Island :3
KUAI LIANG AND HANZO HASASHI’S TEAMWORK :3 :3 :3 I just can’t! I love it so much. The way they work in sync with each other and their banters, SO BEAUTIFUL ;3 Also, people’s reaction at seeing them / hearing about them on good terms. So much fun! My favorite little things is their meeting before mission to destroy Cyber Lin Kuei and Sub-Zero making sure Hanzo is looking in right direction to see entrance he is actually talking about XD
Tumblr media
ALSO, KUAI LIANG AND CYRAX. Cyrax once again breaks my heart :( Please, someone let him have his human body again! I wish there was younger, human version of Cyrax then, if just to see the epic scream match between him and Cyber Sektor XDDD Once again, Cyber Cyrax proved he never should be in command of C.I. Project; give him a free will for like few seconds, and he will be willing to blow up all cyborgs including himself :(
I’m gonna tell more about Sektor, Noob and Frost while rambling about things that irked me more or less, but let me tell you this: I start think my meta about Sektor and Bi-Han’s relationship may be actually valid thing. Also, all of them are right now the trio of black sheeps of Lin Kuei which makes this little scene
Tumblr media
quite... heartwarming? Taking care of each other - even if just for pragmatic reasons - hits me hard cause no one really care now for Frost, Sektor and to some degree, Noob (Kuai cares, sure, but in story mode he says they share the same blood but are not brothers) :(
OLDER JOHNNY! God, I love this version of his character :3 Also, the way he deals with his younger self :D :D :D :D
Generally, I liked very much all the interaction between younger and older selfs and all family feelings :3 This reminds me MK movie (1995)’s quote, how Mortal Kombat is not about death but about life and hell yeah, MK11 brings a lot good emotions.
Wonder what happened to Erron, to change so much from his younger reckless(?) self to more calm, loyal(?) to Kotal self. Even Johnny pointed something along the lines.
For once Raiden does not fuck up stuff and his relationship with Liu Kang ends on good terms. Nice.
Kung Lao’s remarks! Haha, I missed his sense of humor. Shame there was no Jinn to share sarcastic humor...
The talk about Cassie kickings Shinnok’s ass cause she has some magic in her while Jax/Jacqui needed to use magic item to beat godness makes me wonder how Jacqui is doing, the normal mortal between all those fighters with special powers (Cassie & Johnny and their magic, Takeda & Kenshi with reading minds and so one). I wish we could see more about this.
Here are things that irked me more or less.
The inconsistency between games.
I know, messed up timlines and all, but for example, Sektor as Grandmaster and his supposed crimes. Destroying Shirai Ryu & having deal with Quan Chi wasn’t Cyber Sektor doing, but his father, the Grandmaster from Sub-Zero Mythologies. I don’t like how Sektor is now blamed for stuff he wasn’t in position(?) to do back then. He is messed up evil, but please stop making him a scapegoat for everything that went wrong with original Lin Kuei >_<
Wasn’t Jax already out of military in MKX?
I’m not sure about Kotal’s backstory too, the supposed Shao’s betrayal and being given to Shang Tsung, as “ laboratory rat”. I’m pretty sure MKX gave different story, in which he was Kahn’s loyal general once who simply put Outworld’s good over serving Mileena.
Also, the thing that pisses me off for good is the whole Jax’s wife died so he can’t deal with grief and/or wish Jacqui did not serve as soldier so he is working (for some time) for Kronika. Eh. I’m so dissappointed with this one. Killing older!Sonya does not help the feeling but frankly, why not use Sonya’s death as motivation and have two combined tragedies/family dramas into one, since Briggs and Blade-Cage are one big family? I mean, Kronika was talking about Jax’s fear that something bad will happen to Jacqui on duty which makes sense, because this connect the game to previous one and all. But it makes me sad there is little connection to Sonya’s death. Okay, maybe I need to rewatch the cutscenes to get better perspective about this plot.
MK11 in my opinion also lack the great friendship between Cassie and Jacqui seen in previous game. I get it, really, there is so many stuff happening and both girls have family crisis to deal with and all, but there is something off about their relationship and that upsets me a lot :(
The treatment of Noob Saibot, Sektor and Frost. The first two were in game solely to be beat down while the way everyone give up on Frost so fast makes me really sad. I’m supposed to believe that Kuai wish to redeem his brother (in Sub-Zero’s ending) but does not think twice about Frost? His precious student? Not to mention that once again Frost plays the villain. I wish there was second Frost to stand up with her mentor against Cyber Lin Kuei/Kronnika. Or at something that could judge how much her claims is delusion and how much truth. Did Kuai really failed her so much? :(
Also, where the hell is Smoke and Sindel? The dead queen at least was mentioned by Kitana and Shao Kahn and, if I remember correctly, wraith Jade. While there is no mention of Smoke??? :( Okay, there is, but in intro. Thanks Noob, for once you were uselful XD
Frankly, the lack of Takeda is also something I wish was changed. His presence would add a lot weight to discussion between Scorpions, what makes Shirai Ruy. The younger version felt those new students of grandmaster Hasashi aren’t worth (cause no real blood ties to original clan members) while Hanzo disagree. Takeda, as an example of great skills and loyalty to clan/Hanzo could be nice addition. Lack of Jin upsets me too :( And Syzoth :( :(
And this is really minor thing but why the hell Noob Saibot would tell Jacqui and young!Jax his former name? Like, fine, Jax knew, but why he didn’t just call himself Sub-Zero? What would made much more sense.

Their S/o was mentally and physically abused
Of course, If this triggers you, please don't read. If you are in an abusive relationship please get the help you need.
This came out so much shitter than I wanted too im sorry 😕
Request for @baby-queen-girl
Okay so I only did 9 out of the 21 mk characters I write for. Some of these are short.
Kung Lao -
Tumblr media
Your past wasn't something either Kung Lao or you spoke of very much he knew you've endured a lot of trauma such as him, but the burn scars that were on your right arm always concerned him, who could ever do such a thing to you? As Kung Lao questioned the scars you hung your head low telling him about your ex how he'd drink like a fish hardly came home from the bar once he did if one thing was dirty, out of place or dinner wasn't made a cigarette would be put out against your skin. Kung Lao was mortified hearing this rage filing his body his finger traced a scar near your collar bone, he needed to avenge you that night as you slept soundly beside him Kung Lao tried his best to find your ex with no luck he came back to the shared home hours later to see you waiting on the couch.
Raiden-
Tumblr media
He was unfamiliar with the whole photo album thing but Raiden still sat there as you showed old childhood photos when you graduated from high school and college the smile on your face made it all worth it to him until the smile dropped, the photo was your wedding photo the forced smile on your face as you stood next to an unfamiliar man who held your waist tightly with one arm the other held onto a large bottle of liquor Raiden knew he was evil just the way he held and looked at you with such rage. The unexpected slam of the book made the god jump you apologized for him seeing the photo saying it was the worst 4 years of your life Raiden listened as you vented about the mental abuse your ex put you through, Your hand tightly gripping Raiden's he told you to worry about nothing of that sorts anymore placing a soft kiss against your forehead.
Kano-
Tumblr media
Dating Kano meant useless fights over nothing but this one took the cake screaming throwing things, as he approached you trying to apologize for being an asshole sudden wave of fear ran through your veins memories smacking you in the face of your ex slamming you against the wall his hands around your throat tears flooded your vision as you stuttered out for him to not hurt you. Kano just stood there for a moment unsure of what to say gathering you in his arms sitting you on the couch he told you how he'd never hurt you.
(That sucked but The better one got deleted, Errons and Kuai Liang along with Kano's didn't save so I'm trying to write them like i did but they shitty
:( sorry)
Erron Black-
Tumblr media
You never hid that your ex used to do horrible things to you, it was pointless to hide things from Erron he held his tongue as you told him your past he was angry you were the sweetest gal he knew. He tracked down that ex of yours placing a bullet through his skull making sure to bring back a bloody shell going home meant you'd be happy but he knew you'd be happier hearing the news of that shitty man's death, giving you a tight hug and a loving kiss placing the bloody bullet in your hand.
Kuai Liang -
Tumblr media
Kuai Liang loved to treat you with a date night every once in a while letting you both escape the troubles of the Lin Kuei for a few hours but tonight's lovely dinner was ruined by your drunken ex slurring insults at you both before you could calm Kaui he was already on top of your ex beating him until he was begging at your feet to make him stop, Kaui apologized for ruining the night but he couldn't help but wondered who this man was that as he asked you explained as just an ex who was an asshole he loved to insult you before you could stop telling Kaui he was back grabbing your ex making him give you an apology. What a goof.
Hanzo Hasashi-
Tumblr media
Sonya had told Hanzo about your past before you had the chance too, how you were locked inside for almost two years before you tried to escape you'd gotten miles from that horrible place before he caught you again slicing you from naval to tailbone leaving you for dead thankfully Sonya found you, Hanzo was infuriated how someone could call themselves a man yet do heinous things to a woman he wanted the name of that human garbage when he told you he knew about everything you broke down in his arms telling him that you didn't want him to know your past it made you feel weak. He held you close trying to calm you down telling you that your past made you into the strong woman you are now, kissing your forehead whispering how much he loved you.
Kenshi-
Tumblr media
He often got home later than you as you worked a 9 to 5 while he was off killing monsters, Kenshi hardly entered your mind without consent but you were having a horrible nightmare thrashing crying in your sleep as he tapped into your mind a unfamiliar voice echoed you deserve this almost driving him mad Kenshi left your mind waking you up holding you to his bare chest.
Kabal-
Tumblr media
(Not Dating)
He never understood why you were in the black dragon such a sweet kind hearted girl stuck with this clan you befriended him quickly he was shocked at you not gagging at the sight of his burnt self, that friendship lasted until your boyfriend came from his mission you seemed to disappear into your room once you left makeup was applied to your face body covered with baggy clothes hardly ever speaking to anybody. Kabal knocked on your door only hearing yelling back and forth between your boyfriend and you until he heard a loud bang against the wall kicking open the door you were against the wall face so bruised he could hardly recognize you that assholes hands around your neck one swift move with his hook sword the boyfriends head was on the ground.
Johnny Cage-
Tumblr media
You'd never expect to be on a date with Johnny Cage none the less drunk on the couch with him both pouring out your hearts about mental abuse his from his father yours from an ex, you held him as he cried about his family he held you why you cried about your ex overall a good date until the morning you were beyond hungover while he was cooking breakfast acting like he never even drank. Once you both started talking about what happened last night he tried to tell you it got better after years but giving you his number if you ever needed to talk about it.

AnR kids headcanon: Ryuki  (Love riddles)
Another chapter of Love riddles, a series of one-shot about the ships among my AnR kids (this one is yuri). Enjoy!
This was so frustrating. Each day, they kept picking on that girl. Nothing too serious, there was no physical harm or property vandalism, but it was still bullying. Bullying in the form of hidden mockery, taunting sarcasm, and malevolent scheming. But the girl, the victim, never seemed to care about those attempt to ridicule her, it was like she was immune to bullying.
It pissed her off. She didn’t feel bad for that girl, far from that. She was incapable of feeling sympathy. But she was angry at those bullies. She hated those who prey on weaker than them. They reminded her of her late parents, who used to mistreat her, and her old classmates who once targeted her for their cruel bullying. That kind of people gave her murderous desire. She did kill some of them when she was younger, and the only reason she was still free was because someone dear to her took care of her. That person was pure-hearted and kind to her, so she liked her. It was the sole person she actually cared about, and by respect for her, she was trying her best to not commit murder again. But it was hard to restrain herself, not with those bullies picking on that girl.
So she decided that the best way to control her murderous urges was to get them to stop, to play the knight in shining armour, even though she didn’t care about the victim at all.
“Hey, leave her alone, wouldn’t you? You damn bullies,” she said as she approached them.
The bullies, who were surrounding the girl, turned back and looked at her with contempt and mocking smiles.
“Looks, it’s Kenshi Ryuka-san, the defender of the weaks at the rescue,” one of the bullies said.
“We’re doing nothing wrong, we’re not bullying her. We’re just having a friendly chat with our class rep,” said another bully with a fake innocent smile.
Ryuka just wanted to stab them in the eye with a pencil. Those smug attitudes pissed her off so much.
“Don’t fuck with me! If you keep going, I’ll beat the shit out of you!” she replied harshly as she raised her fist.
The bullies seem to hesitate, before leaving. Ryuka had the reputation of being rather strong, so people usually don’t want to pick a fight with her. And the multiple bandages on her face and arms contributed to this.
The girl was still there, gazing at her with an emotionless expression. Ryuka forced herself to smile in a friendly way, putting a lot of effort in her faking that it looked sincere. She was used to pretending to be someone she wasn’t, to wear a mask. It was the best way to avoid getting in trouble, and please the person she respected. But she hated every second of it. She hated to act friendly and sociable while she actually disliked pretty much everyone.
“Are you alright, Fujimoto-san? If they keep picking on you, you should tell a teacher,” Ryuka said with the nicest voice she could fake.
Fujimoto Yuki was her classmate and the class rep of her classroom.
“I’m fine. But those weren’t picking on me. They just wanted my help for their homework,” Yuki replied stoically.
“No no, they were clearly bullying you. They just wanted you to let them copy your homework because they were too lazy to do it themselves. They were trying to manipulate you, as they always do.”
Yuki looked thoughtful for a moment, before she sighed with what appeared to be relief.
“Oh, I see. I’m glad. I thought they were just dumb. I almost felt bad for them. Good thing that they are just being lazy.”
Ryuka felt confused. Was this girl feeling bad for those bullies? How ridiculous. Feeling sympathy for bullies was unthinkable for her. What kind of person could?
“Kenshi...how long are you going to play a role? I thought I saw the real you for a second, but here you are, with this fake smile. Why are you pretending like that?”
Ryuka continued to smile, despite the growing confusion she was feeling.
“What do you mean, Fujimoto-san?”
“You always act as a friendly and sympathetic person, people are easily drawn to you because of that. But it feels...off. Like it wasn’t natural. But the way you react when you threaten others, when you’re being violent, it feels more natural, like it’s your actual self. So I think...that you’re actually a violent and dangerous person, Kenshi,” Yuki replied calmly.
Ryuka was shocked. She thought that her disguise as a normal and friendly person was perfect. And when she was acting more like her real safe, it was always to deal with bullies, so most people still view her as a nice person, thinking that she was protecting the bullied. But that girl saw through her lies and mask, she saw her real safe. Since there was no point in pretending anymore and that there was no one else around, she decided to drop the act and be her true self.
“You know what, you’re right. Congratulation in finding out the real me. Too bad it won’t do you any good,” Ryuka began to say with a threatening voice. “If you tell anyone, I’m going to beat you to a pulp, got it?”
Yuki remained stoic, while Ryuka grinned with satisfaction.
“Damn, it feels so good to be myself for once.”
Yuki continued to remain silent, which began to annoy Ryuka.
“Hey, say something! You’re pissing me off, you dork. You’re always like that, so quiet, letting those jerks push you around like you don’t care. You’re no better than those bullies for letting do as they please with you. Stand up for yourself you weakling, have some spine for once!”
Yuki remained quiet again, which began to give some dark ideas to Ryuka. Stabbing her with a pencil seemed like a pleasant option. But the sudden reminder of the person she respected interrupted this thought.
“Kenshi...you may be violent and dangerous, but I know that deep down, you have a kind heart.”
Well, Ryuka couldn’t have predicted what she just said. She was so right until she said that. It was just plain wrong. Her, a kind heart? How ridiculous.
“And here I thought you were actually smart...You’re wrong about me.”
“No, I’m right. You always stand up for those who are being bullied, bullies make you angry, and the fact you think I’m being bullied infuriate you. You definitely have some good inside of you, Kenshi.”
Ryuka didn’t know how to feel about that. She never thought that there could be good inside of her. It was an absurd thought to her. She should be annoyed that this girl kept pretending that, but strangely, she wasn’t. It reminded her of someone else, another person who firmly believe that there was good in her, that she could change for the better, a person that won’t give up on her. This person was the one she respected, her legal guardian, Kenmochi Shiena.
This made Ryuka smiled in a more genuine way. This girl, Yuki, she reminded her of Shiena. A pure-hearted person, so pure that they thought there was some good inside of her. Both were the total opposite of the type of people Ryuka hated.
She then remembered what another person told her, a person she had mixed feelings for. She both felt admiration and contempt for that person. It was Shiena’s lover, Takechi Otoya. She couldn’t help but admire her past as a notorious serial killer, but also despise her for her bully attitude. While Shiena was trying her best to put her on the right path, Otoya was secretly teaching her how to be a better killer. Ryuka wanted to remain loyal to Shiena, but what Otoya had to offer was so tempting sometimes. She did tell her once why she fell in love with Shiena. It was because of her pure heart. And she told her that one day, perhaps she will also find a pure-hearted girl, someone she will want to be hers forever, someone that will be different from the others in her eyes. Someone she could love.
Could this person be Yuki? Was Yuki her fated pure-hearted person, just like Shiena was to Otoya? Ryuka wondered. Yuki was so oblivious most of the time and had the same amount of emotions a robot have. Could she really come to love someone like that?
For now, Yuki had caught her interest. She was curious about her. She wanted to experiment with her, to play with her. She wanted Yuki to be her plaything. And judging by how Otoya seemed to view Shiena, perhaps what she was feeling for Yuki will evolve into love.
“You seem happy...why?”
“I just realize that I really appreciate you. I want to be your friend, Fuji...Can I call you Yuki-chan?”
“Um, only my guardians and their other kids call me by my given name, but I don’t mind if you do. If you want to be my friend, it’s fine with me.”
“Yeah! Thanks, we’ll have so much fun together!” Ryuka replied happily. “Oh, you have guardians too?”
“Yes, Suzu-san and Kouko-san. I live at their orphanage.”
“Ah, I see. So you’re an orphan…”
“I don’t see myself as one. Both of them are my family now, my home is with them.”
Ryuka felt like she could somehow relate. After all, she was also living with guardians she viewed as her family, as her home.
“Class is about to begin,” Yuki suddenly said. “We should go back.”
“Yeah. It was nice talking to you, I hope we could hang out sometimes.”
“If you say so. I’m fine with it.”
Ryuka smiled as she walked with Yuki, heading towards their classroom. She could already feel it. She was going to have a lot of fun with that girl.
