Katagawa Jr is such a fun character to think about cause there's so much you can assume not just about him but also the Maliwan family as a whole based on his design and what little we actually know about him
I can't imagine he has a whole lot of loyalty for Maliwan itself cause he really did seem to care more about the Zanara than anything else. The barcode tattoo on the back of his neck? The ECHOeye (a whole eyeball compared to Rhys' lense) with a big M on it? He didn't get those to market Maliwan. He got them to show his father he's dedicated to the company and get ahead of the rest of his siblings who got a head-start due to him being younger
There's no actual family at Maliwan. Kat and his siblings are just cogs in the machine. Parental love? Never heard of it. You either dedicate your life to this company or you're not a Katagawa
Here comes Atlas, a small but growing corporation vulnerable to attacks and perfect for a merger to prove to Kat's father just how much he deserves his attention and praise. Oh, the CEO used to be a Hyperion lackey? He knows what it's like to give his life to a company ("family") that doesn't care for him? But somehow he got out. He made a name for himself, literally ripping out his Hyperion branding and giving himself his own, and now he holds the adoration by many, something Katagawa couldn't even get from his own father
On top of that Rhys is around the same age, at least compared to the old coots that are in charge of the other major corporations out there. He's so cool. Imagine being friends with that guy. But the Katagawa family doesn't do friendship, nor love, nor anything remotely fond
Katagawa doesn't know how to befriend people, much less someone who's supposed to be his rival. Getting to know Rhys, stalking him and learning about all his favorite foods and favorite theme parks didn't do the trick so really, what choice does he have other than to force a friendship with a siege? He needs Atlas to impress his father anyway. Rhys becoming part of the Maliwan family, not as a sibling but as a friend, and having no choice but to be around Kat is a nice bonus
Rhys doesn't budge however, not even as Katagawa destroys the things he loves and threatens to cut him in half. He's rejecting him, just like his father, and that hurts. Then this little asshole actually goes out of his way to destroy something Kat loves for a change. It's not enough to take over Promethea and Atlas anymore, Rhys needs to hurt too

every so often out of the blue no matter what my major special interest is i am just violently yanked back into a spiral of attempting to re-imagine major segments of borderlands 3 lore because of how miserable i found the plot of that entire game.
especially the promethea arc. dear god i could go on such a tangent about how not only katagawa jr. but the concept of maliwan as a fully-fleshed out family-run corporate cult were severely underutilized and could have been executed in so many different ways that would have created a different story. also don't even get me STARTED on the lack of fiona + sasha, what they did to my poor boy vaughn, and even rhys. the horrors are never-ending and this will haunt me forever.

12. What's the funniest or craziest AU idea you've ever come up with?
I have in total, three AUs I have to finally write anything for fhasfsa (I do plan on posting Tales AU first chapter this week tho!!).
1) RHYS AI AU is something you saw me post snippets of - in general, it's an alternative version of Borderlands 2, where Jack kills Lilith and Roland very quickly and survives. Due to mourning for Nisha, Wilhelm and Angel, he one day writes code for a companion based on an imaginary friend he had but also, gives him some trait of each one of those he misses. While Rhys was going to slowly become the silly personality we know and love, this was my typical 'give the character therapy when they don't want it, and end up with them hurting someone else and trying to change'.
2) JUST WING IT AU is my Tales AU that starts with changes in ep 5, with how Rhys handles the news about Jack wanting to get that exoskeleton in him and focusing on exploring Jack's loneliness and adding him as the third character, making sort of second season for the game. The additional driving point would be that Loader Bot would be able to grab Gortys and run off with her, so the search for Vault would become longer
Yet the AU I really hope to start exploring in the future, is this one:
3) Loss of what once happened but never before AU.
It's a Borderlands 3 Rhack au that would focus on Rhys finding out he is a siren with huge time-travelling powers and the costs that come with it.
He would turn back in time, when Jack was still known as John during the nights, and watch some of the consequences happen in the present during the day.
He doesn't know though just how strong the butterfly effect will be...
13. What's a character or ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to someday?
Characters: Timothy, Angel, Nisha, Zer0, Katagawa, Axton, Moxxi, Lilith, Roland
Ships: Rhysothy, Rhack, JackxNisha, MoxxixTimothy, Rhysagawa, Axton x Turret (cus she is my wife I luv her)
(The list prob isn't finished cus I still have to finish playing the second game and play the third one oifhaiof)
22. Give us headcanons for Rhys
He actually likes fashion and likes casual official style in general.
He has a sweet tooth but pretends to like spicy food in college.
He actually had a heterochromia before the echo eye and decided to keep it.
He admired Jack a bit but he laughed at psycho fans, as he has some critical thinking.
Even a few years after getting Atlas running again, he still tries to make some guns himself, even if he doesn't have as much time.
He was the one dumped by his ex girlfriend even if he didn't like their dynamic because he was actually scared nobody else would be into him.
He spends a lot of time in the morning preparing his hair. It's quite wavy which gets visible in wetter climates but fortunately for him, he lives mostly in dry ones.
He met Katagawa and at first, couldn't believe he had a fan even if he had some boosted ego but felt something off about him. He turned off an invitation to Zanara because he still thinks about his talk with Vaughn about being good at faking cool. That's why he is even more awkward in future games, since while chasing the younger years, he wants to show he matured, hoping that maybe that will bring Sasha back. That's also why he got the moustache - to show he is becoming more serious.
Which fails miserably.
He seemed the most confident in his new Atlas CEO stage because he had to look like it. There was nobody else to help him at the time, so he tried his best to do what he had done - acted the plan out.
He still imagines his plans the same way he did in Tales - with fantasies.

Unofficial hub for (almost) all possible crackships present across the Borderlands franchise! We're here to spread love around and share your most obscure crackships imaginable.
First, we want to differentiate crackships and rarepairs so there's no confusion:
CRACKSHIP - a ship between characters who have never met in canon. For example, Maya/Sasha have never interacted in canon, thus making them a crackship
RAREPAIR - an unpopular ship between characters who did meet in canon. For example, Handsome Jack/Krieg, though an unpopular ship, have interacted in canon, thus making them a rarepair
Got it? Now let's get into the rules!
We accept all kinds of ships! No matter if they're wlw, mlm, m/f or ot3s, they're welcome on this blog. Additionally, we also accept platonic relationships, as they will be tagged as #platonic
What we don't allow, are ships which go against characters' canon sexualities. So absolutely not shipping Athena with men or Hammerlock with women
We don't allow ships with underage characters and incestous ships. There are only 2 underage characters in Borderlands (Pickle and Ava), but our experience in fandoms have verified to us that we need to be clearly against it
We are not proshippers and we are against proshipping
As of Borderlands , Tina is an adult (she's 20) but we won't reblog romantic art of her during BL2 or Wonderlands
Gaige is 18 in Borderlands 2 and 25 in Borderlands 3. She's an adult
Angel is also an adult. As infantilization of her is extremaly prevalent in this fandom, we want to state, we're against it and we won't reblog any art which will portray her in such way
We will also not reblog any art that will misgender neither Zer0 nor FL4K. FL4K canonically uses only they/them pronouns and as for Zer0, we will only refer to them as they/them
Ships with Timothy, Rhys and Jack are welcome! But within each other, the only ship that is a crackship is Rhysothy, so we will only reblog them
The only characters who aren't allowed are Vaughn and Katagawa Jr. Just because
Crossover ships, as in from different franchises like Portal or Postal, are welcome!
However, we won't reblog art of OC/canon and self ships. We realize that some people might not like this term and calling their OCs like so and we don't want to be disrespectful. We will only reblog the art, if OP will send it to us and give us permission to post it

Ah, the Zanara. His pride and joy!..
And here he was, forced to have a party on it thanks to his father. Really, if he could have denied such a thing he would have! And yet, here he was with a false smile...
Oh how he could bathe the Zanara in blood again. But he couldn’t do that! These were rather high profile people! He’d draw ire if he did that.
Doesn’t stop him from imagining it though, for the bloodshed. The beauty of it really dashing across the lights! Wonder, would it be just as pretty with their blood compared to his siblings?
Probably wouldn’t even be as satisfying. See it had worked with his siblings because he knew them for longer! Got to grow a hatred for them!..
But here? He barely even knew anyone and here he was to make ‘relations’ with them...
A sip of the wine he held in his hand... No, not even the wine was helping! He should really invest in a real drink, maybe after this party. Oh that would be a blessing. Just a shame about his tolerance for such heavy drinks.
Which is to say, he has no tolerance at all for the heavier ones.
He almost missed the person coming up to him though! Who was he again..? Didn’t matter he’ll forget it by the end of the night anyway just like the rest of these people.
“Oh hello. Welcome to the Zanara, I hope you’re enjoying the party.” Was that polite enough? It’ll do. He wasn’t here to make real friends besides what his father was making him do.

So Katagawa put a few cameras in Jack's office. Big deal. Rhys came here all the time; was Katagawa supposed to just let him stay dangerously out of sight while Jack did unspeakable things to him? No. Of course not. Jack will understand once he's in Katagawa's position, when Rhys finally comes running into Katagawa's waiting arms.
Jack wasn't supposed to come back while Katagawa was still inside, though. It was a miscalculation, one that might cost him dearly, but... with the way Jack and Katagawa's fights usually went, it would be worth it. Unsurprisingly, Katagawa started getting hard the instant Jack's hands were on him, and as Jack slammed him into the desk and ground against his ass, Katagawa was only getting harder.
Then Katagawa felt the rope around his wrists. He almost came then and there. Was Jack this spontaneous with Rhys? Was this rope here because he used it on Rhys? This was why exactly Katagawa needed the cameras.
"Wow. You're prepared. And desperate. I'd be scared of me getting hold of that gun too--Maliwan weapons are a lot deadlier than what you're used to."
Katagawa tugged against the rope and imagined he was Rhys in this same position. Rhys would be scared, breathless. He'd be shivering under Jack, and embarrassed too. Probably pleading and whimpering. Katagawa bit his lip and already resented his bound hands keeping him from touching himself.
"You're right. I should get a hobby. You should call Rhys. That would really humiliate me."

(This fanfic takes place during before and during the war between atlas and mailwan also the gender of y/n is up to the reader)
Y/n was a well known promethan assassin they kill without hesitation, some people call them a "heart-less monster" but they don't care as long as the contract is done and their payed it was all fine, they mostly take contracts from corporations (mostly maliwan and tourge) But y/n was specifically close with the katagawa family specifically one in particular katagawa jr, they were katagawa's childhood friend they were always there for katagawa whenever he needed to vent or just talk about work, y/n was basically katagawa's right hand man..but y/n had to leave they had some contracts that were on Athens and pandora when katagawa heard this he was distraught,they reassured him that it'll only be awhile they promised, they'll come back and that they'll be back before he knew it...
It's been 10 years..katagawa had already killed his siblings on the zanarra, he always imagined y/n by his side always so eagar to do whatever he wanted them to do, and ya maybe he did imagine them in his arms while he watched his siblings being killed or them on his lap while he rules out business...he misses them alot they were his only friend they were the only person who actually cared about him AND what makes it even more special is that they werent being paid to hang around him..they were his everything. They've had this dream of running the company just him and y/n but y/n's not next to him...but that's okay they'll come back...they promised.
Y/n just finished a contract on Athens when they saw mailwan ships appear in the sky one by one they flooded the sky. They were confused maliwan never sent someone to come pick them up before, then mailwan troops dropped down one with a specific general his name was "general traunt" he announced that they were looking for a "vault key" 'why would they be looking for a vault key?' One of locals told them to piss off..they got their head blown off, everyone started to run and hide in fear y/n started to try to find a fast travel near them, they still had some contracts to do on Athens but they decided it was time for a quick stop home to the katagawa's family front door cause y/n had some questions..alot of questions.
Katagawa was coming back to his office when he found y/n sitting in his chair along with nermoruss papers spread across the desk,he was speechless after all this time there they were "so what's this children of the vault thing you made a deal with?" "Oh and also when were you allowed to "merge and make deals" with other companies jr?" "I made some changes to the corporate latter and look at me now I got an office with a beautiful view oh and that children of the vault thing ya they helped me because you know you left for 10 years.." "I know and I'm sorry kat I really am I've just been so busy with the whole assassin thing i guess i could have called but I didn't kno-" they were cut off by katagawa kissing them.
He pulled them in by the hips one hand laying on their hip and one cradling a side of their face while he was kissing them passionately, they broke the kiss after awhile "i....I was in the middle of talking you know" "mmmm..and?" They kissed him "your so weird jr..I love you tho" they said kissing his cheek he grinned at their action, he sat down and yanked them down onto his lap y/n chuckled "where are the others? you know your siblings where are they? i actually couldn't wait to have a talk with Sana.." he froze for a second "oh yeah um about that...when i said i made sone changes to the corporate latter..i uh killed off my siblings" y/n thought it was a joke so they giggled a little then they saw jr.'s expression...he was serious "YOU KILLED YOUR SIBLINGS!? KATAGAWA JR WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?"
They yelled as they got up from his lap, "well what was I supposed to do? You were 'busy on Athens' and I had plans no our plans to finally take into action it was the right thing to do!!" "No the fuck it was... killing them!? Jr come on you know bett-" "I DID WHAT I SAW RIGHT!" katagawa yelled he looked veryyy angry " ya well what you saw what was right wasn't actually right!! That was actually pretty fucked up.." "you say that but you literally kill for cash I mean you could work here at mailwan for me-" "I would never work here...you've changed you know, bandits now, katagawa your trusting and making deals with BANDITS NOW!?" "You have no room to talk, y/n your literally a bandit but I still love u more than life itself" 'what did he just say?' Y/n thought. It was silent for awhile "did you just call me a bandit katagawa?"
He froze 'oh shit' jr thought "I mean you are bandit like....but your no bandit.....my love?" y/n stared at him with an angry expression y/n was hurt it. Jr saw this and walked over to them "I'm so sorry y/n i went too far...i didnt mean it" y/n turned away with a sad expression on their face and said "I should have just talked to your dad" y/n turns away and starts to walk away.
"oh ya no go ahead leave me for another 10 years leave me wondering if your okay go ahead" they turned around listening to what katagawa said "the only reason I left was BECAUSE OF MAILWAN jr..God I can't do this with you right now" "can't do what?" They argued for about an hour more before jr grabbed them and hugged them close "I'm sorry...we took this way to far y/n"
Everything started to calm down a little, and they started talking to him. I still want an answer to my question" "what was your question again?" "Why are you making deals with bandits? I thought you hated people like that" " I do but they have something we could use against atlas and once I'm done with this war which will be soon we'll kill them on the zanarra and get rid of their shitty, smelly cult they have my darling" "you plan on killing them? That's my boy, " they say with a smile as they kiss him on the cheek.
"Now I have to get back to work I gotta fill out these forms and...oh I'm done for the day after that!" "What do you say y/n me and you could cuddle up and watch our favorite movie just like when we were kids" "I'm down I mean if u want to of course" "yes of course love after this well do that! I'm actually excited" "me too kat me too" (time skip to them cuddling up in bed watching the movie) "mm have I ever told you how soft your thighs are y/n?" They blushed "n-no you haven't" "well they are just the softest thighs I've ever touched" He grazed his hand over their thighs, they stared into each other's eyes admiring each other when they were interrupted by the movie starting they got excited y/n and katagawa had no distance between each other as they layed next to each other.
The movie is half way through now and y/n already fell asleep katagawa was starting to talk to them when he noticed them asleep he smiled and he turned off the TV placing the TV remote on the bedside table. He turned back over to them snuggling into them y/n moaned a little and katagawa giggled "goodnight love sweet dreams" He said as he kissed their forehead and started to drift off to sleep....

(Y/n) nervously tugged on the hem of her dress, waiting for the elevator to reach her floor. What her dress too short? Was it not formal enough? What if this was all some cruel joke of Katagawa's?
She pinched her thighs through her dress, trying to ground herself. Surely Katagawa liked her since he took the time to ask her to accompany him to a dance...right?
She was shaken out of her thoughts when the elevator opened. She stepped out and was greeted by a waiter. "Right this way, ma'am. Mr. Katagawa has been expecting you."
(Y/n) nodded shyly and began following him. With a few twists and turns down the hallways, they finally reached the room where the party was being held.
She sucked in a sharp breath. It was absolutely beautiful. Everything was decorated in black, purple, and blue and a large window stared out into space, starlight lighting up the dancefloor.
"There's my guest of honor." She heard a voice exclaim. She felt a blush creep to her cheeks when she saw Katagawa approaching her. "I was beginning to think you had stood me up."
He reached out and took (Y/n)'s hand, then planted a kiss on it. Her heart sped up as she smiled at him. "I would never. And let me just say that you have absolutely outdone yourself with this party. It's all so beautiful."
The dark haired man smiled pridefully and extended his arm, waiting for her to link her own with his. When she did, he began walking around the room, first stopping at the bar. "Thank you, (Y/n). You can never go too big when it comes to parties. Now what would you like to drink? It's all on me."
"Uh... Champagne?"
The bartender handed them both a glass. (Y/n) slowly took a sip, looking at her escort from the corner of her eyes. There was no denying that the man was a handsome sight with his sharp facial features and slight build, but there was something about him in a suit that made him so much more attractive.
"You're looking a bit red. Are you that much of a lightweight?"
She hadn't even realized she was blushing. Had he caught her staring? She quickly finished off her drink and set her glass down. "No... Just thinking, I guess."
"About?" He smirked knowingly, nudging her in the side with his elbow.
Oh, to hell with it. If she sat around like a cold fish all night, they would both be disappointed. She was going to enjoy herself, damnit. "The dancers. They look like they're having fun."
"Well, in that case," Katagawa held his hand out to her. "Would you like to dance?"
(Y/n) placed her hand in his. "I would love to."
He set his drink down and led her to the dance floor. He placed a hand on her hip and kept the other on clasping her hand. She placed her free hand on his shoulder and held her arms stiff as she looked around. It seemed as if everyone else kept away from them.
"It feels like everyone's staring at us." She whispered. "I'm not used to being the center of attention."
"Let them stare. They're probably just admiring your beauty like I am." He whispered back. He chuckled softly as her face burned pink. "Don't worry. You're with me, and that means that if a smartass says anything, I'll have them killed."
This should have alarmed (Y/n), but she found it oddly comforting and somewhat charming. "While I appreciate the gesture, right now I just want to dance."
And dance she did. The two of them spent the night in each other's arms, swaying and twirling and moving to the music. When it came time for the party to end, she found herself to be smitten with him, and it seemed to be the same case with him.
"I wish this night would never end." She sighed over another glass of champagne. "I've had so much fun with you and I don't want to go home just yet."
Katagawa raised an eyebrow and took a sip of his drink. "You know... You don't have to go home. How would you like to stay with me tonight up on Zanara?"
"I would love to."

something about how naoko does sees jr as her brother + her (past) partner-in-crime in their youth + her enemy + just another part of her (especially more so bc i headcanon them as twins, but it depends on interaction obvsly) + her would-be friend if only he wasn’t such a prick (she understands why, doesn’t want to) + her mirror (perfect) + her mirror (fucked-up).
he is his own person, and that’s good!!! but he is a threat bc of his ambitions which wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t out to kill (wouldn’t have to kill his way to the top if their parents treated them like people, but it’s easier to, potentially, lash out horizontal against a peer than it is to rebel against your higher-ups).
so viewing him as an extension of herself (her mirror, multiple mirrors, multiple possibilities bc it’s only in her head, bc he’s his own person and she’s sort-of given up on the reality of ever healing their relationship) is... a daydream fantasy (of her helping him but only if he ever bothers to make the decision to actually change his mind -- can’t be too out of character). a shitty coping mechanism bc she hasn’t quite yet finished (or started) grieving the death/decline of her relationship with her brother.

I'm tired but I just imagined
Katagawa jr doing his usual thing of coming onto Rhys again.
Completely expecting him to just nope out and in Katagawa's mind play hard to get.
Only this time Rhys reaches out and pulls him in slowly by the tie
"I already told you, I'm not merging companies buuut..."
His robot hand rests on Katagawa's chest, he gives a coy smile as he purrs
"We could merge if you like, we could even go to that ship of yours and merge, again and again...and perhaps in the morning again then to."
Katagawa swallows, he.. He didn't plan this far ahead.
"But you can only merge a company once?"
NO he hadn't meant to say that!
Rhys just rolls his eyes and let's him go
"Maliwan you're an idiot."
Katagawa just watches him go off, he choked, he choked...
Zane was polishing a gun and waited for Rhys to be out of sight
"HAHAAA BOYO HE WAS TALKING ABOUT A SHAG, for all your flirting you completely dropped the ball and then tripped on yer face and some how hit that thing you call an ass on the way down."
He paused a moment seeing the look on Katagawa's face as he watched the lift going up.
"Ahh can't belive I'm doing this, drink this then chase after him, it's not like he told you to piss off."
Katagawa eyed the metal flask suspiciously
"What is in that exactly? Poison, cheap no doubt, wouldn't even finish me off quickly."
"Some liquid courage, now drink before I change me mind."
Katagawa jr hesitated a moment and took it, usually he didn't share with others but this was for Rhys!
He grabbed it and drank it all down and went running off.
Zane swore under his breath he'd kill him for emptying the flask, but hoped for two things, one this stupid war was over and two, if Rhys got laid he'd lose that god awful moustache.
