Power Rangers 30th anniversary special to reunite several original cast members

If you grew up watching Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, it’s Netflix time!

Entertainment Weekly reports that a 30th anniversary special coming to Netflix will reunite the cast from the show’s early seasons, including David Yost (Billy the Blue Ranger), Walter Jones (Zack the Black Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky the Red Ranger, who joined us on the podcast back in 2013), Karan Ashley (Aisha the Yellow Ranger), Catherine Sutherland (Kat the Pink Ranger), and Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, the second Black Ranger).

The team has to face “a familiar threat from the past,” the report says.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always hits Netflix on April 19th.

My first con experience!

So, last Friday-Sunday, @higuchimon and I went with a friend to Galaxycon Richmond, and I had a blast! So many awesome costumes, Higuchimon got to chat with Karan Ashley about their old website, the Command Center Archives, and my roomie was GLOWING! Got Karan’s autograph (She’s not a Karen), our friend got Suneater’s VA’s autograph (‘I want to go home’) and we hit up the panel Chillin Like a Villian, did some shopping… okay, a LOT of shopping. And that wrapped up Friday.

Saturday, we started off perfect, with David Tennant’s panel. He was hilarious, and I love his natural accent. I would have liked to ask him a question, but didn’t get a chance. (Like, are the fennec foxes he’s a stuntdouble for hard to work with? ;)) and more shopping! And actually purchasing, this time. Spent way too much money, but it was worth it.

Sunday was spent people watching, asking cosplayers if I could take their pictures, and a few last purchases. We came home exhausted but triumphant. And I’ll hoping to do it again next year.

W A T C H E D

As much as I want to say this was incredible. It really was a not so great story capitalizing on nostalgia.

It was fun, it was indeed nostalgic, but the story was lacking.

I mean don't get me wrong the TV show was way better when you're 7 years old. Watching it in adulthood it's hard to keep attention.

The BOOM STUDIOS comics are brilliant. They have the medium to tell good stories for the grown up fans.

It was good to see their trying to finally give some closure to Thuy Trang's character's absence for 23 years because of her death. And the final tributes to her and the recently deceased Jason David Frank who committed suicide, still sent a somber shiver up my spine for my dead childhood heroes.

It's worth a watch, perhaps in the background getting ready for your day. The special effects are really nice despite people nitpicking them. Just don't "over-expect", ultimately it's still overall made on a level for 7 year olds.

It was good to see other old faces return. And to see David Yost take the lead in the special since he had conceptualized it and tried to pitch it to Hasbro.
