Wings of flight
”Junpei. Junpei, wake UP!”
Junpei blinked awake. Izumi had a hand on his shoulder and was shaking him violently. He wouldn’t have been able to sleep even if he wanted to.
”What? What’s wrong? Are the kids alright?”
”They’re still sleeping”, Izumi answered.
She shoved an iPad into his face, pressed it against his nose.
”Can you believe this?!” she asked.
Junpei pulled his head back, yawned and sat up. Looked at the screen. Kitties playing with some yarn. Junpei looked at Izumi instead.
”Yeah? Cats love string theory.”
”What?”
”What?”
Izumi turned the tablet around, looked at it.
”Your nose must have pressed something”, she complained. ”Hang on, I’ll find it again.”
”You’re the one who pressed it on my nose”, Junpei laughed.
Wrapped an arm around Izumi, pulled her closer and kissed her cheek. Her forehead. Her nose. Izumi giggled.
”Junpei, please, I’m trying to show you something.”
”Of course, my queen”, Junpei answered and kissed her hand instead. ”Anything you say.”
She laughed, pulled her hand out of his grip and tapped on the screen. Turned it around for Junpei to see. A person in a wingsuit jumping out of a helicopter. There was engines on his chest.
”Wha-?”
”They have electric wingsuits now! With engines so you can fly for longer!”
Izumi sounded way too excited. Junpei felt a shiver along his back. This did not bode well.
”I need to try it”, Izumi continued.
Junpei felt his soul leave his body. Izumi kissed his cheek.
”I’ll go wake the kids, you get started on breakfast. And when they’re off to school we can see where to get us these suits.”
She jumped off the bed again. Disappeared to the other bedrooms. Junpei took a shaky breath. Pulled his hands over his face. Okay. He needed to somehow convince Izumi to bring Kouji or Takuya instead of him. He could… watch from the helicopter or something. Or the ground. The ground sounded safer. He stood up as well. That sure was a way to wake up.

Rant: The way some frontier stans are living in cave men era is concerning. And it shows in lot of garbage I read in 10 years as a stan. Fanfics where there were warnings about Junpei bashing and everyone in the comments laughed like shit. And the bashing was about him being fat. You deserve junzumi smut from moon to back.
Hr's a pervert and maniac??? At 10 h3 already knew what mattered most in a married couple life. Fat hands on her? He wanted to make her happy, he says this. And in his imagination it's not him proposing but Izumi. Telling lot of the kind of person he is. Not one imposing his ideas on Izumi or forcing her to do anything. I'm against Junpei bashing in 2022 just for having crushed on the main girl. Who knows how sad the poor guy is, filling a void for first with his love at first sight, then developing in a real feeling.

I’ve unfortunately committed the sin of falling hard for Ryota x Maria. I apologize if I could start drawing something for them, but they have conquered me. I waited for Housamo to soak in my bones, I’ve played through the chapters, the events.
They have exploded in my heart. Sorry. I’m a sinful person because I ship Ryota with the mc (2 and 5) and Choji too. I’m a multishipper at heart but Maria x Ryota, my God. I tried resisting until the last event I’ve played (the Christmas one). Bye.

Howdy, all! I can't post my art summary quite yet because it contains part of someone's Secret Santa gift, so I thought I would fill out the fic summary template created by @reliablejoukido (see her original post here!). Even though I didn't publish (or finish!) much, I did start writing again this year, and that feels like a huge accomplishment, so it seemed like it would be fun to look back and talk a little bit about what I have in the works.
First, the finished fic!
My er... grand return to writing (I wouldn't call it that, but I did have a lot of fun writing and drawing for it, even if it took 6+ months from start to finish ^^;). I love these three characters as a trio so much. It was really hard to pull out a quote I liked and have it make sense in context, so I put the summary in there... but since I brought it up in another post, I thought I'd share what one of my editing drafts looks like:
(ok, so maybe not the tiniest font imaginable, but sometimes there are cross-outs to the cross-outs and sometimes I DO run out of room near troublesome paragraphs and in the margins!)
Now, onto WIPs!
Hmm, well! That sure is a title, isn't it? ;) I wanted to write Junzumi and came up with this idea late last year, and finally started trying to figure it out. It's meant to be fun and flirty and a bit awkward, but the ultimate goal is to be kind to JP, because he (and his body) are given so little love overall. And even though JP and Zoe are not actually hooking up in this fic, it is meant to show the relationship between the two of them in college, and how they could start going from friendship to dating. There IS nudity, but it's meant to be tasteful and respectful, I promise!
Oof. I haven't forgotten this fic, I swear (even though I published Chapter 4 three years ago!). I got really excited to work on it earlier this year (flush with success from actually publishing something, rotfl!) and then let it continue to languish (orz). Upon reflection, the reason it's been stalled is I was having a hard time figuring out the flow of action, but after re-outlining it in September I think I know now what Maki needs to be doing in order to experience the emotions I always meant her to be feeling in this chapter. And yes, she and Meiko meet (yay!).
Chapter 6 has been done for YEARS, and Chapter 7's probably pretty close to done as well, so it really is just this chapter being the hold-up.
AKA, Garg Fic #1. Been mulling over ideas for fic for this fandom all summer, and finally decided to write one based on some minor characters from the SLG comics (that I didn't even read, and can't read now because they're out of print). But I AM reading the new Dark Ages comics, and I'm proving to be a really good guesser about certain details, so actually, I feel INCREDIBLY validated about my original vision and characterization, ahaha.
As you may be able to tell from the quote selection, this is not a happy story. But I believe it's a story worth telling. It's about preserving customs in the face of tragedy, and mourning, and extinction, and love.
AKA, the thing that pulled me away from writing Garg Fic #1. I was possessed. I was writing something in my head about Macbeth's relationship with Demona this summer, and suddenly (VERY suddenly) it morphed into this. Dang, but they're fun to think about. This fic is weird, it will contain one MAJOR narrative trope/cliche, and it's definitely going to be NSFW if I end up getting that far. But I reeeeeeally like this paragraph I wrote for it XD

Despite anything, despite the hate, the fat phobia, the nonsense of some people, Junzumi shipper have crossed this year too and 2023 has brought new Junzumi shippers, new fan arts, new discoveries, new stories, new emotions.

Didn't want to drag the other thread off topic, but yeah, I was there when Tamers was in first run and you're right that fandom never really mentally left past Zero Two. I'll be honest, my 15 y/o self fully came into Tamers expecting to hate it but the story and the deeper development of the core team got me to warm up to it.
Shipping-wise, I think most ppl were pretty meh, apart from Juri/Takato and Ruki/Ryo. But you're right, slash wasn't a big thing there, from what I saw.
My relationship to the Adventures/02/Tamers fandom is a bit weird because I had no access to Digimon on TV, and relied on VHS tapes and CDs mailed to me by friends. I was very into the fandom, but to this day I still haven't watched all of Adventures and am still missing some few episodes of 02, haha.
I don't remember exactly how I felt about Tamers going in, but I do know that I fell hard and fast and it is one of the biggest stories in my heart to this day. I spent more time with the Adventures/02 fandom still, because Tamers corner was so comparatively quiet and the few people there were criminally sleeping on the fluff potential of jenkato. Kenta/Kazu was pretty popular though.
Ironically Rika/Takato and Rika/Henry seemed a lot more popular than both Jeri/Takato and Rika/Ryo, who had the actual canon developments. In retrospect (and particularly with the context of Frontier and the how few people shipped junzumi), that says a lot about both the tropes the franchise was built on (and which Tamers subverted), and on how the fandom insisted on following them across universes.
