fading starlight takes place in a warriors au where the clans decided not to leave the forest during the new prophecy. years later, shadowclan and riverclan are the only clans remaining, and they are now forced to navigate a world with less resources and no guidance from starclan.

the grieving warrior ebonysky becomes leader of shadowclan and has to decide if revenge for her mothers death is worth endangering the clan, while juniperstem struggles to find his place in riverclan as his clanmates starve and yet his father pushes for war. in the midst of it all, an injured rogue named six joins shadowclan, and medic blazingheart must find out if they may be the change the forest has needed, or the catalyst for the end of the clans.

What would happen if Squirrelflight ends up pregnant while Leafpool is still pregnant? About 2-3 weeks afterwards, so there's quite a desynch to when they would expect to give birth.

OK so Leafpool and Squirrelflight start their journey, both are pregnant, Leafpool gives birth to JayLionHolly, and Squirrelflight to SparkAlderDandelionJuniper.

Dandelion and Juniper die. They were the weakest and it’s cold out there, granted. But also, neither Leafpool nor Squirrelflight are at their best so hunting is difficult, and Leafpool isn’t the best hunter out there either.

I mean I’m barring the possibility that they just all die out there and Whitewing ends up with three kits who are the Three.

So anyway, Dandelion and Juniper died. They come back to the clans with five kits and everyone’s like “wow it’s the biggest litter we’ve seen yet!”.

Since Squirrelflight has milk, she nurses them all. It means Jayfeather won’t find out about their biological parents the same way, if at all. Brambleclaw is extatic to have five kits of his own. THey all play pretend fight with him and everything, all is going well.

During the scene of the fire, all six (Squilf and the Five) are there when Ashfur arrives. Squirrelflight is like “those are not my kits.” and he lets them go and then she’s like “yeah no actually you are my kits it’s a bit complicated” when Alderheart asks her what she meant. no one understands what’s going on, but the five are convinced she was bluffing.

Ashfur lets the secret blow up at the Gathering, accusing Squirrelflight of having taken in the kits of Leafpool and Crowfeather (because who else would Squirrelflight do this for but Leafpool, and who else could Leafpool have had kits with?). Crowfeather is like “what”, Nightcloud and Breezepelt are like “WHAT”, Leafpool scoffs and says it’s ridiculous and she didn’t expect him to muddy the waters like that what did she do to him to warrant such a stupid accusation?

The Five are like “yeah that’s stupid we’re so obviously Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight’s kits!”, and Squirrelflight accuses him in front of everybody to not be over her when she’s been with her mate for half a dozen seasons already (which is true). Ashfur is taken back to apprentice for trying to cause a scandal at the gathering.

Out of the five, Three only are the Chosen Ones, and it just so happen that it’s Sparkpelt, Jayfeather and Lionblaze. Sparkpelt has intense senses, but she’s an overachiever: she’s not going to get the same problems as Dovewing. She’s going to master her senses quite quickly.

When the Beavers arrive, she is part of the patrol with Lionblaze. She doesn’t fall in love with Tigerheart because she’s impulsive but she’s got her head screwed on the right way.

No Hollyleaf in the Tunnels mean that Blossomfall and Ivypool die in the tunnels and that Molepaw and Cherrypaw are killed by that one fox. (although if it was proved that this fox was the one Hollyleaf saved in the tunnels it would be different).

Mousefur, Ferncloud, Sorreltail and Hollyleaf die in the Great Battle. With those plus the ones who died before it’s starting to be a lot of losses for Thunderclan. (plus Seedpaw and all during the great storm etc) so Bramblestar refuses to let anyone leave the clan for an apprentice’s vision. Particularly a warrior apprentice (eh, with Jaypaw as an apprentice medicine cat they were not going to have two medicine cat apprentices at the same time)

Twig and Violet starve, Skyclan dies out. No Darktail around the lake. Rowanstar tames his unruly apprentices then dies and Tawnystar ascends, with a Tigerheart who never left his clan and never mated with a thunderclan she-cat as her deputy. Needletail is still alive and was named Needlepelt (she chose her own warrior name in the Kin). Juniperclaw is named Juniperstem, etc etc. All those who chose their warrior names in the kin have new names. I don’t like their names.

Anyway after that canon basically knits itself back together. No Skyclan means no meeting the Sisters, Leafpool doesn’t die too soon. No Leafpool dying means no Moonpool freezing, according to some theories. So no Bramblefake, and since I have barely finished Lost Stars I’m going to stop here.

Although the clans probably die out one after the other because of the new poisonous plant the Sisters knew the remedy for but that’s a whole other sack of wet mice.

this is a short 7 page comic exploring the relationship between two background characters named birchtail and heronclaw that takes place roughly 5 months before fading starlight. doesnt have much bearing on the main plot but i wanted to finish another minicomic just to like. really prepare myself for getting back into comics i guess

juniperstem and auburnshine arent my only arospec ocs but theyre both important and i think theyre neat. juniper is aro/gay and auburn is aro/bi and theyre fake dating and raising auburnshines and blazinghearts halfclan kids together. i just think its epic for 2 aros to be in a relationship and raising children but still are very much aro

its juniperstem one of the riverclan protags. guy who runs off of stress and spite for his father. he was formerly the deputy but stepped down due to personal reasons. he hates how blizzardstar runs the clan and feels powerless about it. spends a lot of time out of the forest where he feels more free.

after auburnshine and blazingheart hooked up juniperstem agreed to act as the kits father which is why theyre listed. not genetically his but adopted. he loves them very much and while hes not in love with auburnshine theyre very close friends, alongside blazingheart.

this guy is always fucking hunting in like every scene hes in. all he does is hunt and experience The Horrors

in burning red we see her meet blazingpaw and laugh her ass off when she sees him fall out of a tree, and as time goes on they got little kid crushes that turned into young adult crushes that then... auburnshine was like Wait actually i think i just see you as a Close Good Friend. sorry lol. little late though because she was already pregnant at that time. shes still good friends with him and juniperstem but doesnt get to hang out with blazingheart that often since shes the only riverclan queen. she likes being a queen and taking care of her kits and things in camp though, because shes not really great at hunting or fighting. loves her kits a lot but blazingheart genes made them fucking huge and theyre 5 moons old so she is So ready for them to become apprenticed

blizzardstar was originally from thunderclan if u wanna know how old he is. in my au where windclan is gone, after tigerstar died the clans were controlled by leopardstar, blackstar and darkstar. during the time of the late new prophecy thunderclan got fucking skyclanned out of their territory and blizzardstar was a kit at the time his mom joined riverclan. rn i think the story takes place during like, maybe when avos was? idk. blizzardstar has seen a few generations come and go. so that being said hes very prideful and not wanting riverclan to experience the same fate as thunderclan did. unfortunately that means stealing territory and then picking fights with shadowclan due to prey shortage.

hes not evil is the thing, hes a major asshole and as im scripting hes kinda horrible to juniperstem but i wouldnt consider him abusive, they just seriously butt heads.

he also (spoilers) threatens the lives of his grandkits (not in front of them but to blazingheart) to try and blackmail him but he was 100% bluffing. he loves his grandkits so much even if theyre adopted he considers them kin and adores them. but hes an asshole.

juniperstems arc is interesting because its kind of about like, trying to change the system from the inside and realizing it cant happen. i made it so he was actually originally the deputy before heronclaw but stepped down after accidentally killing a shadowclan apprentice in battle. before then he was very loyal to blizzardstar and, while heronclaw was the perfect can do no wrong son, he tried to be that too and impress his dad but always fell short. after he retires he starts doing his own thing which pisses blizzardstar off to no end. its a big clash over ideals and what to do about the fate of riverclan and juniperstems disillusion with clan life

GOD that was a mouthful. but auhhh also juniperstem has insomnia and is a fucking expert hunter and is almost singlehandedly feeding riverclan because blizzardstar puts a lot of focus in fending off shadowclan. so juniperstem is regularly out hunting at ass oclock at night in twolegplace alleys and shit. motherfucker has destroyed the wildlife population. he also loves his adopted kids. he feels horrible intense guilt about the shadowclan apprentice breezepaw which makes him very reluctant to fight

one last fact uhhh blizzardstar is like, harpers great uncle or something. blizzardstars mom was the sister of his grandmother. when blizzardstar meets harper he thinks hes such a charming young man and secretly wishes he was his son. juniperstem takes one look at him and is like this guy is totally a creep

shes either half or full kittypet descendant, i havent decided because her parents arent super relevant. either one was a warrior and the other was a kittypet that joined, or they both were kittypets that joined. but shes part munchkin. the clan never minded the heritage because a lot of them were adopted in, but shes always had a bit of difficulty hunting/fighting due to her short legs. her littermate scarletleaf has this problem, but her younger siblings foxpaw and hawkpaw werent born as munchkins

she grew up with scarletleaf, heronclaw and juniperstem and all the clan loved her because shes very sweet and outgoing. she would always try to include juniperpaw in things because he was a little more introverted. a very good friend to both him and blazingpaw

on the topic of blazingpaw/burning red she finds slapstick comedy fucking hilarious. like blazingpaw falling out of a tree bellyflopping into the river was the funniest thing shes seen in her life ever

obviously for blazingpaw/heart it was love at first sight and she was like wow yeah were such good friends! and then oh wait, he likes me? well clearly that means i like him too right? i think? idk im hormonal and i wanna hook up. and then later realizes her feelings were just Close good friend and was like sorry blazingheart. and broke it off.

she likes being a queen, she was always good with kits and apprentices and likes taking care of her kits, but also by the time theyre 6 moons shes like Oh thank god. because shes chubby and blazingheart is Massive and she has 4 kids so theyre all stuffed in the nursery and theyre all bigger than her. so she liked going out on walks. not really hunting or fighting though

loves her family, loves blazingheart and juniperstem (platonically). she.... never learns about blazingheart and hollowlight, because juniper/heron/blizzard are really the only ones in riverclan who put that together, and with who hollowlight ends up killing juniperstem decides like, hey, maybe its better if we just dont tell her. because like. if she ever did find out blazingheart liked them! she would be pretty mad! she would be really upset! she HATES them so much. like all of riverclan has it out for them but no one hates them as much as she does. so juniperstem is like Lets just not bring this up

my biggest issue with the cover. is i have NO idea what i want it to look like. i have 3 concepts i cant choose from

first: ebonystar and hollowlight in the center, blazingheart, juniperstem and maybe auburn meeting at the bottom. it features the 4 main characters but not really the conflict

second: ebonystar and blizzardstar, blazingheart and hollowlight at the bottom. DOES highlight the conflict but doesnt showcase all the mains. could maybe replace blizzardstar with juniperstem but idk

third: juniperstem in the center, ebonystar, blazingheart and hollowlight at the bottom. has all the mains, but i feel like it puts too much emphasis on juniperstem as a main. BUT THE REASON FOR THIS, is because i want the SEQUEL to parallel this by having ebonystar in the cover of the center. so itd be really cool and badass..... in 5 years when the sequel comes out
