I totally get why Saria Silence is such a popular ship, but I like Ptilopsil so much more. Reading Silence’s operator record about her initially joining Rhine and taking over the Ptilopsis “research” where other researchers were just abusing and ignoring poor Joyce because they thought the operation made her inhuman. Seeing Silence reject all the promising research she could’ve started and choose to help Joyce instead, seeing them grow close, two sleepy owls working together and becoming close friends. And then the thing that really sold me on the ship was this part of the Rhine Manga

Oh no... Follow up to my previous Joyce Post™. We all make fun of Rhine Lab for all going with their real names instead of picking code names at Rhodes and Joyce being the only one who actually picked a code name, but... In Dorothy's Vision, Device #9 jams and she's able to call Silence by her first name:

However, when Device #9 is activated, she just calls her by her last name (eg: Dr. Silence or just Silence), and tends to refer to other Operators by their code names.

So Device #9 seems to prevent her from engaging in a certain level of closeness when talking to people - she uses their codenames or honorifics.

What if the reason that Silence, Ifrit, Mayer, Saria and Magallan all go by their regular names on the landship is so Ptilopsis can even still call them by their regular names?

(of course, the one exception to this is Dellareed, who she still calls "Della"... and Silence is suprised when she can...)

This whole time I was under the impression that Joyce was a part of the experiment and had selected herself as the test candidate, I figured she might’ve already had oripathy and that was part of her motivation for volunteering. But after getting her module and reading that she was selected for her abilities and that the project supervisor didn’t even want to explain what the project was, the whole thing feels even more vile. And the way the researchers treated her after they thought it was a total failure just breaks my heart…
