wake up babe, new Jon/Gerry/Tim WIP dropped
(I haven’t abandoned my jongerry wip, it’s just been postponed for a bit because this story idea has GRABBED MY BY THE THROAT)
he/they/she pronouns for Jon
he/him pronouns for Tim
and they/them for Gerry
Even at his best, Jon could never handle the cold. It reminded him of the worst times in his life; the bitter wind chill leaving his mother’s funeral, that same wind one day when he was 8 years old, the frigid ache of being left behind, and a particularly awful breakup that ended with them with a door slammed in his face at 3am and walking home in the rain.
So, on this particular night, Jon was wrapped in about 10 blankets with the heat on blast.
When the phone rang. the call had almost gone to voicemail by the time they dug themself out of the blankets.
“Martin? Is everything okay?” Martin was on vacation, visiting his great aunt in Scotland. They had texted pretty consistently since Martin had left, but calling was rare for them- even in emergencies.
“I’m fine. But my idiot boyfriend went out with his friends and got so smashed he called me to ask to give him a ride home.” Jon snorts a bit, then sighs. From what he knows about Mike and what he’s heard about Mike’s friends, that's perfectly in character; however, it does mean that Martin is probably about to ask him to go pick him up for him.
“You want me to pick him up don’t you?” Martin sighs with relief.
“Would you please? I wouldn’t ask but all our other friends are either dead asleep or with Mike and just as drunk as he is, and I reaaaallly don’t want any of them trying to drive eachother home.”
“And you know I’m an insomniac and despise pubs and the like,” Jon sighs, and takes a moment to grieve his mound of blankets before giving in, “Do they all need rides too?”
“No, Tim’s brother is going to come pick the rest of them up, but we’re the farthest away and in the wrong direction. Thank you so much Jon. If you can’t go then I’m sure-”
“No, no. I’ll get him. Text me his location? I know you guys have that find my thingy.”
“Thank you thank you thank you.”
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t worry about it. Just don’t die on your way back next week and I’ll call it even. I’m honestly surprised your boyfriend hasn’t shot me through the Vast yet.”
“Alright deal,” Martin laughs, “Text me when you guys get home safe?”
“Don’t worry. We’ll be fine,” Jon says, trying to jam her boots onto their feet, “But yes, I’ll text you. Bye.”
“Bye Jon! Thank you again!” And with that, Jon tugs on their thickest coat and grabs their keys.
----------
Jon parks the car in the cramped “customers only” parking lot. She takes a moment to brace for the cold, and opens the door. It’s raining lightly, adding to his misery. They go to the door, where Mike is supposed to be waiting for him. He sees Mike’s choppy hair (the electric blue makes him almost obnoxiously easy to spot) and sighs in relief.
“Okay Mike, let’s go. Before Martin calls me panicking cuz I haven’t texted him yet.”
“Jon?” It isn’t Mike that responds, like Jon was expecting, but the voice is very familiar.
“Tim?” Jon blinks, then notices who’s standing next to Tim, “Gerry?”
“Jon?” The three of them stare at each other for a moment. Even Tim and Gerry glace at each other in confusion. Tim opens his mouth to say something, but is interrupted by a car honking and someone yelling his name.
“Be right there Danny!” he yells back, and turns back to Jon, but she’s already grabbing Mike’s arm and speed walking in the other direction.
“Hey! Ow ow owwww, jerk!” Mike slurs as Jon pulls him around the corner at the end of the block.
“Shhhhhhhh” Jon whispers. They stand there in silence for a few minutes as Mike rubs his wrist and glares at Jon. Then, she peaks her head around the corner.
“Do you think they’ve left yet?”
“Who?”
“Tim and Gerry!”
“I mean probably. Why?”
“Because we’re parked in the other direction.”

just to set the scene: this is an au, the Fears are still a thing but in more of a “urban fantasy/“secret world”” kind of way than a “awful truth about the universe/ metaphor for capitalism” type of way.
what’s the deal with jon, tim, and gerry?
you’ll have to find out ;)
