The way that s4 constantly foreshadows and builds up a Jody/Mindy endgame…only for them to be taken out at the last minute 😭
#the mindy project#Jody x Mindy#Mindy x Jody#het ship#their arc of enemies to lovers was top tier#so for them to throw that away#i mean i like Jody/mary but they don’t show enough development leading to them being ‘in love’#it’s not even the fact that they admit it so quickly#but it’s the fact that they didn’t show enough of them or even show a lot of care#like how se admitted their love early on but there was at least some care being show#*shown#also I don’t think I even need to explain Mindy/danny#but like the parallels between Jody and Mindy#being into the idea of something/someone#but not really being into THEM#and how Jody felt so much remorse about what happened with Mindy#and the fact that I’m supposed to buy them having ‘no spark’#despite like two episodes before when Mindy was REALLY wanting to have sex with Jody

I spent two days binging the last 3 seasons of The Mindy Project. I stopped early s4 originally because Danny became such a tool. I experienced so much whiplash (from who the writers wanted to set her up with), but I will always love Dr Mindy Lahiri and her white bf of the week and all her amazing oneliners and wardrobe. The ending was a bit...ah well, I guess they had to bring Danny back, I just wasn't that into it after the way s4 ended (but their chemistry was still fire). I would have preferred a bit more set up to see if Danny changed (judging from the end, he probably didn't, but Mindy did!). Anyhow, I will miss Tamra and also Morgan's absurd ass, and Peter being the best bff ever. And I will 100% miss Dr Jody Kimball-Kinney who, surprisingly, turned into my second fave character. Don't @ me, I really wished they would have tried with him and Mindy before the dumb chlamydia storyline, but no they had to go and destroy his s4 character development in s5. Thankfully it was kinda found again in s6.

Like Mindy kisses Jamie (Which I really did like them together, I kinda miss them), Ben breaks up with her, Jody disappears. Ben and Mindy reconcile but there’s no further mention of Jamie? Even him trying to get in her... (Haha, get it?) Then they this new episode, Jody’s back, Ben’s all lovey dovey aside from the ball that dropped. Jody’s gone psycho and dating a Mindy Wanna-be.
I’m so fucking annoyed.
And the other thing, Where the living fuck is her kid? Like doesn’t this woman ever miss her kid? I go five minutes without my puppy and i’m dying, what about a baby???

Why do people keep acting like Mindy and Danny are the perfect couple, like otp of your life? As though Danny didn’t try to force her to quit her job and leave behind her dream so that she could be a house wife, and tried to impregnate her without her knowledge and consent. Or string her along knowing that he didn’t want to get married and for a long time was not even open to the idea, despite knowing that’s what she wanted. Like he isn’t some deep down “women shouldn’t have jobs, they only should take care of my kid” misogynist asshole. Like no. The more I watch this show the more I know Danny is 100% wrong for Mindy. Say whatever the hell you want about Jody but he has shown far more respect for Mindy and what she wants in his short time on the show than Danny has the entire series. But also Mindy x Ben forever.

Season four of The Mindy Project is truly one of my most beloved TV seasons of all the TV seasons (and it has 26 episodes, so it goes on almost forever!). Even the disappointment of seasons five and six can’t touch me right now!! Oh, to live always in this brief, sweet era where Jody was being slowly set up as Mindy’s unexpected soulmate! 😭🥰
#dollsome's deep thoughts#mindy x jody#the mindy project#maybe i should just ... stop at the end of s4#and imagine a different outcome#i actually really like how this season portrays mindy and danny splitting#because i think there's a lot of attraction and affection between them but they have some fundamental differences that seem insurmountable#and i think that's been built into their relationship from s2 onward so their relationship falling apart feels very earned to me#i also love how even though jody and mindy are very different on the surface#they are very temperamentally suited to each other in a way mindy and danny aren't#like -- they just get each other in a way that i don't think m&d do#and i think they would've been great at having an unorthodox relationship where mindy's professional ambition wasn't a problem#obviously all these tags are for naught because mindy/jody got canceled by angry danny fans#but i still love to dream of what might have been!#TAKE ME TO THE AU WHERE I CAN SEE HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BEEEEEE!#ERASE!
