I don’t think I’m the right person to ask. I’m not anti-Codywan or anything, I just know nothing about the ship.
However @creativside did a really good explainer in the replies of Round Nine. I’ll copy + paste it here:
Caveat: I don't ship it, but I don't ship-shame and I get the appeal. So imagine there are these two people, thrown together in a really awful war. They fight side by side, both responsible for leading others into dangerous and sometimes certain death situations. Everyday is very frightening, every day coukd be their last. One of them has magic powers, he's basically a superhero, constantly putting himself at risk to protect (more coming )
2/ the other and his men, though they were all told they're expendable. He always, *always* uses their chosen names. In spite of all this power, the magic one is constantly dropping his magic sword, and so the field officer is always keeping an eye of out for it. They often brush hands when he passes it back. They often share cramped sleeping quarters where they don't sleep much, kept awake by war. They keep each other alive, (one more)
3/ remind each other to eat, and are always looking for ways to show the other they care, since every day could be there last. Of course, it's a love that can never be. Good soldiers follow non-fraternization orders, good Jedi follow the Code of non-attachment.

Sam is eight.
He’s walking home from school, back to the motel that Dad had dropped him and Dean off at. He passes by that church again, and hesitates, like he has every day for the past two weeks.
Don’t be dumb, Sam. God’s not real. Dean had told him that when he’d asked last year, but Sam could feel that it wasn’t true.
With everything they were going through, there had to be some point to it all. There had to be something good watching out for them as they fought a war against all the evil in the world.
He looks in the direction of home. Dean’s still got another hour left at his middle school, and Dad’s still out hunting. No one will miss Sam if he stops in, just to see what the church is like.
He approaches the front door of the church, feeling a pull towards it but also a feeling of wrongness, like he shouldn’t be here. Like he’s not pure enough to enter.
He’s about to turn back and leave when the door opens. The elderly couple leaving smiles at him and holds the door open, and it’s the invitation Sam was looking for. He gives the couple a small smile and slips inside.
He feels soothed as soon as the door shuts behind him. The rows of pews, the cross and altar at the front of the church, the religious art on the walls. There are a couple of people sitting in the pews, heads bowed in prayer, and a priest is taking care of some business up front. Sam feels calm, more calm than he’s felt in weeks.
He sits down in the last row. He’s never done this before, has no idea what to do besides what he’s seen in movies and read in books. He glances at the other occupants of the church and follows their lead, bowing his head and closing his eyes.
What now?
Hi, God, he thinks. Nothing. Sam doesn’t feel anything, no divine presence, no connection, no sense that anyone is listening. Why would God listen to him, Sam Winchester, anyway? He’s the last person on earth worthy of being heard.
But it’s about faith. He knows that. He takes a deep breath and keeps going. I don’t know if you’re listening, but… I want you to know that I believe in you, even if my brother says you aren’t real. I hope you can keep Dad safe. And I hope that Mom is happy up there in heaven with you.
He can’t think of anything else to say. Not this time. Amen, he thinks. He opens his eyes and stands up, giving one last glance around the church before leaving.
As he steps outside into the crisp fall air, he realizes he does feel a slight burden lifted. He feels a little bit less alone. He feels a little bit more protected. And he knows, with certainty, that there is a higher power out there.
Sam is fifteen.
He’s been praying every night since his first visit to that church. Sometimes he prays in church or kneeling next to his bed, but usually they’re informal prayers, sent from the backseat of the Impala in the middle of the night, or while staring up at the stars just outside the motel room Dean and Dad are in. He asks for protection or forgiveness or, usually, just for some sense of peace and comfort.
Tonight he prays that Amy will be okay. He prays that the future monsters his family will kill will actually deserve it. He prays that he and his family won’t go so far that it will put them beyond the reach of redemption.
Sam is twenty-one.
He’s been keeping up with the weird news, the kind only hunters look at. There’s been demon signs all over the midwest, and Sam’s not sure if Dad and Dean are there, but he knows that’s exactly the type of trouble they’re drawn to.
Tonight he’s sitting on the edge of his bed, head down.
“Hi, God.” He pauses like he always does, like he’s waiting for a response, but he knows he won’t get one. “Thank you, for everything. For Stanford and Jess and my friends and a life of my own. And… I don’t know if I have a right to ask, now that I’ve left them behind, but please protect Dad and Dean. Keep them safe.” He sniffs. “Amen.”
A shorter prayer than usual. He doesn’t know what else to say. But he knows God will understand.
Sam is thirty.
He’s tired, and his head is spinning, and every part of him hurts. He kneels in the confessional in the abandoned church, Crowley chained to a chair just a few feet away.
“Okay, um…” He clears his throat. “If anybody’s listening, here goes.”
Sam is thirty-seven.
He’s standing outside the church in Lebanon, a solid brick building with a steeple and stained glass windows. He walks in and smiles at the familiar sense of tranquility that every church has. The pastor walks by and asks if he needs any help, and Sam shakes his head. He’s just here to pray.
He sits down and closes his eyes. It’s been a long time since he’s prayed, really prayed, like he used to. It’s been a long time since he believed God cared.
“Hi, Jack,” he says softly. Tears prickle at the back of his eyes. “Me and Dean… We’re doing okay. It’s nice, knowing we’re free. But we miss you.” He opens his eyes and looks up. “I know you’re all-powerful now, but take care of yourself, okay?” A tear slips from his eye and he sniffs and wipes it away quickly. He thinks about what Jack said, about being in every drop of rain, every speck of dust. Jack’s here, now, all around him. The old God might not have cared, but Sam knows Jack is listening.

Episode 4: “Just gotta try to wiggle myself in some where”- Austin

I kinda wish our tribe would lose just so I could see where the lines are tbh. Also I have a bad feeling that at a swap/merge our tribe is gonna be picked off because we’re going in with the most numbers and on a base level that’s dangerous; however, I do think it could be deeper than that because of the preconceived relationships and I’m looking forward to seeing who goes home tonight and where we go from here.
This round was a little wild for me. Austin has been my fave since the beginning and we finally created an alliance. We both liked eve so that was easy but we wanted one more person. This is where things got a little complicated. Him and eve both liked isaac but honestly i wasnt feeling isaac and love pat. But i didnt want to push too hard so we just went ahead with isaac.
BUT we also talked to pat and will have ANOTHER alliance with him (so austin, pat and me). SO basically im working with everyone right now except keaton. Im glad our tribe has been killing it because that means no TC wooo
We tribe swapped so that is fun. It's always interesting to have a switch up. I have still yet to be screwed by a tribe swap in my entire history of playing ORGs which is something I am happy with. This is one of the best iterations of a tribe I can think of actually.
I can forge a closer bond with Xander and Dylan, because now if we lose I won't need to vote one of them out, they become my core 3. So, right after the swap I made an OG Malakoff chat with myself, Xander, and Dylan. I just wanted the immediacy to show that I was serious in wanting to stick to that, which I am.
I have communicated several times that I want to work with Isaac, so ideally Austin will go in the event that we lose. I feel bad because he is a sweetheart, but he doesn't fit into my strategy, and if anyone understands game being game, he does.
I love my new tribe??? Not only is nick still here so that gives me a safety net, the sammy I like is here. Pat is here. No idea who eve is but that’s okay too. I’m loving this. Inb4 I get voted out next Bc they actually really fucking hate me :^). Byebye payton it was nice kinda knowing you? Hello ~hopefully~ friends <3

Well....we got our last handed to us. I'm not happy going to tribal bc I feel I'll be the one going. I talk with jared and issac the most but I feel jared will stick with xander and dylan. Just gotta try to wiggle myself in some where.
I have been busy the past couple of days so this challenge being a endurance/speed comp was a struggle. And it looks like my team didn't do much. To help... It's fine we can get out one of these other two dead weights. Speaking of them. Im glad the swap merged me with two allies but the other two just suck to talk to... And that's coming from me .. Jess knows what I'm talking about. Anyways I don't want them here and want them gone. As for my allies. I like Jared a lot we are getting along and enjoying ourselves. He's definitely the one I trust most in this game and hopefully it gets me to merge where I can start phase 2 and hopefully get far. Dylan is fine .. he's offline a lot but he's from old tribe so like it helps.
Just finished the challenge, OH MY GOD i suck at trivia but thankfully sammy snapped and we won, thank u sammy love u so much!!!

I hate confessions. That’s my confession for the round... jkjk. Eh there isn’t much to talk about now that it’s tribal time. I hope whoever from our og tribe stays safe but I forgot who is there so oops. Sammy killed it. I still call bs on the centipede question but oh well. It wouldn’t have changed the result. It would have just made the gap close by 1.
LOVE MY NEW TRIBE. So happy we swapped. I’m with actual love of my life ASHLEY!!! And Chloe is amazing too. Aidan popped off in the challenge. Keaton is Keaton.
This is a good group and I’m glad they did rlly well in the challenge. I love this kind of thing but I wasn’t able to constantly be on my phone all weekend bc that’s rude :( so I’m glad it worked out. Hoping the tribe swap works out in our favor and Xander jared and Dylan stay together for the vote. Idk if Isaac and jared are friends??? I hope Isaac leaves because he knows I’m a ‘threat’ in games and because I think Ashley yelled at him once. Idk who Austin is but Ashley likes him. But idk how likely that is if Isaac and jared have a connection. As long as jared stays safe ifgaf who leaves.
Yowza. We got absolutely wrecked in the challlenge. I don't WANT to lose any challenges, but I believe in the long run I should be happy to take this L.
As another way to show my loyalty, I decided to give my idol progress in the chat with Xander and Dylan. I noticed Dylan never reciprocated so that gives me 1 reason to be wary.
Then, Dylan posted a very inappropriate joke in the tribe chat in reference to Survivor Thailand, and the word "rape" was used, so that was the 2nd thing to make me uneasy.
At first, Dylan and Xander had no opinion on who to vote, so I voiced that I would like to vote Austin- then Dylan remembered who Isaac is and said "he can go." I eventually got things back on track to target Austin, but Dylan better be careful- it's 3 strikes and you're out with me. I have a good relationship with Isaac so I wouldn't be surprised to see Dylan go if we lose again.
Day 9 on the survivor tribe. My thoughts are about toes and only toes. They are consuming my entire day. I exist merely to think of toes.

Okay so I’m just gonna throw down some of my thoughts right now since I’ve been very quiet in confessionals.
I fucking hate these small ass fucking tribes. It makes the thought of going to tribal terrifying because your odds of going home are increased.
Since the swap ive actually really been enjoying my time, I really like my new tribe and I feel I can actually connect with these people better than on my first tribe. I am glad to actually have Aidan with me because he’s like THE person I want to work with from my og tribe, along with Vi. I still have my reservations on Nick even though I think he’s nice I can’t trust him as far as I could throw him.
I really feel that the trivia challenge brought us closer together as a tribe since what’s a better bonding experience than yelling at Jess that she’s wrong 50 times in one day.
I think we’re all collectively quite strong and I really hope that means we can slide past for a while without going to tribal.
Honestly i always forget what i confess from last time but i still think I’m in a good position in the game. However I really do not want to go to tribal because I don’t want to show my cards. Eve and Pat both want me to work with them so we have an alliance and then Vi and Nick approached me and want to work with me as well. This was completely surprising to me bc I felt as if I would just be an easy vote out if we were to go to tribal since I’m a lone wolf. However I’m in the middle and I feel somewhat powerful knowing that people want to keep me and want to work with me. Me and nick have had a rocky relationship in past games but i think he’s a great person. He’s just a wildcard. I love vi and i think she’s the sweetest person to have ever existed but my gut is telling me to work with pat and Eve atleast for the first vote. Hopefully I don’t have to make the decision but who knows. That’s all I have for now other than I think the idol system isn’t anything I keep getting zapped. I feel like a fly in a southern home...ZAP.
I couldn’t remember the day so I put 69. I hate this tribe with my whole heart and my whole bussy. Jared is the only one giving me any sort of shot at making it passed this round. Austin is a slime ball who will do anything to save his own skin, Xander is dead apparently, and Dylan has been tracking down places where famous people died. I feel like this is my own personal hell and while I’ve been assured that Austin is going home (which I wouldn’t be surprised was a lie) I still have to make a swap or a merge and with the clowns on this tribe being inactive and never talking about anything but Star Wars or not talking at all I don’t know how possible it is to win a goddamn challenge.

Since it didn't happen at 16 I wasn't surprised too see it at 15 but I'm glad because three tribes provides for much more buffer. My initial reaction to my tribe was positive as I saw that I had Chloe and three new people in the mix. I'm not gonna lie that I was getting bored on my old tribe but I do hope that Nick is doing alright. He's one ally that I'd love to connect with again... Vi is alright too but I don't know how strong of a connection we fostered. First impressions of my new tribemates:
Keaton - I heard he was fucking with my friend in another game so my guard was up but I tried and he seems aloof and random with his contributions but it makes sense since he's playing 4 games at once. Will probably work off of the others who contribute in challenges? We'll see.
Ashley - Sweet and seems like a hard worker. Not too much of a read on her yet
Owen - He seems nice and genuine but not much of a read from a game perspective yet.
It seems the split is 2-2-1 on my tribe from previous tribes but I don't know how strict to tribal lines people are going to play but I can feel some aloofness with Keaton and Ashley is traveling so... that's that on that. If we were going to tribal I have no idea what the fuck would happen but I want to strengthen connections. Honestly I think we can make it to the merge without hitting an elimination but who knows.
THANKFULLLLLLLY my ass had a lucky night on the railroads and jumped to spot number fifty and apparently found a STEAL A VOTE. This is what I DESERVE. Thank you Old West Gods for blessing me, the star, with this iconic power. I'm glad I have it in my back pocket and I'm not telling a fucking soul. If it needs to be used, it will be flaunted and I will pop shit.
Hopefully I can save it for after merge but if I need to control a pre-merge vote just to get my way, I'm going to do it.

I was also really frustrated by the final fight scene of this movie - it had obviously been hacked up in editing, and wtf is up with punching ghosts instead of containing them? I’m glad this movie happened, and certainly a great deal of the criticism it came in for was deeply unfair, but it was distinctly disappointing to find that this movie just wasn’t that great.

Love (2016)
Better Call Saul S2 - this is a show I enjoy while I’m watching it, but I don’t particularly find it memorable. Why? Who knows. It’s still something I look forward to, but not a show that sticks with me.
Great British Bake off *S1, *S2, S7 + Xmas Specials - a eulogy for Bake-Off as it was. Pour one (pint of double cream, that is) out for what once was.
Broad City S5
Travel Man S1, S2 - I find Richard Ayoade so desperately charming, but ever time I’ve watched one of the movies he’s directed, I’ve ended up disappointed. This show is a bit hit or miss, depending on the guests he brings along, and the episodes definitely have a sameness to them, but if you find this guy even a sliver as entertaining as I do, it’ll pull you along anyhow.
The Night Manager - so looking forward to Hugh Laurie’s upcoming career phase as Bond Villain.
Cooked
Newsradio S1-S3 - I’d seen an episode or two of this over the years but never sat down to fully appreciate it. It’s making me miss Phil Hartman all over again, a fresh devastation, plus haha did u know Tone Loc plays a security guard on this show? It’s all true.
Lady Dynamite
OJ Made In America - I’ll count this as a series, since I didn’t watch it in the theatre. Still haven’t seen the other big OJ series of 2016, but I loved loved LOVED this. What impressed me the most is that, in spite of its 7 hour+ running time there were still aspects of this story that could have been expanded upon.

Pulling - went back in time to get more Sharon Horgan in my life, since Catastrophe seasons are terribly short and far-between. I’d been aware of this show for a long time, and somehow wasn’t expecting it to be as near-devastating as it ended up being. What, did I forget what a British show was like?
Another Period S2
Difficult People S1, S2 - Another late discovery, but a great one. A fine example of just giving some funny people a show, and letting them just do their thing on it every week.
Fleabag - yes, I’m in for this, obviously. And if I wasn’t, the show designed itself to put me off, from the first moments. A wise move!
One Mississippi
Very British Problems S1, S2
Atlanta - I’ve got a bad feeling that this show’s deserved success will lead to surreal elements being deployed, but much less deftly than they were here.
Please Like Me S1-S4 - Tore through this entire series greedily, am now suffering until they make another season. Balances some very harrowing elements with comedy and an ensemble cast of loveable/terrible humans.
Divorce - Sharon Horgan’s writing minus her acting is a hollow empty shell, but hey, I’ll take what I can get, when I can get it.
The Fall S3 - I’d decided last year after S2 that I was done with this show, and yet, here we are, I was drawn back in.

Considering the societal bad blood so profusely flowing in America of late, Canton’s Seat of the Pants Productions designed its Summer season of plays, under the collective name of ACTS OF DISSENT, to, in the words of Craig Joseph, “…dramatize and "storify" some of the conflicts that exist in America today in an effort to move hearts and open minds, thereby creating an avenue for increased understanding and potential dialogue.” Joseph stars in the current production of Chesapeake, a one-man show written by Lee Blessing in 1999.
The setting for Chesapeake harkens to the tumultuous “culture wars” that began during the late 1980s (and raged through the 1990s), when vitriolic conservatives, including North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms and his dour cronies, sought to diminish or dismantle the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for its perceived promulgation of “indecent” art.
Here we meet Kerr, a bisexual artist whose NEA-supported performance piece draws the ire of one Therm Pooley, a blustery Southern conservative. After winning his Senate seat largely by stirring up public furor over Kerr’s “obscene” art, Pooley campaigns to shut down the NEA. The outraged Kerr in turn concocts an elaborate act of revenge – which he considers a performance art work in itself - and steals the Senator’s beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Lord Ratliff of Luckymore, nicknamed ‘Lucky,’ and affectionately called ‘Rat’ by Pooley. But before Kerr can fully consummate his nefarious invasion of Pooley’s life, things go terribly wrong, taking a simultaneously bizarre and utterly hilarious turn when Lucky literally inhabits the body of Kerr. Or is it that Kerr inhabits Lucky? This entire performance is surely a metaphysical monologue.
As Kerr, Craig Joseph is brilliantly commanding. He immerses himself in a seemingly inexhaustible reservoir of performing stamina to sustain an astonishing range of postures and vocal nuances. Something of a neurotic anarchist at heart, Kerr struggles through his pride and vulnerability to define and perhaps breach the shifting boundaries between art and life. He wags his shaggy tale with an incessant alacrity as endearing as it is quick and startling. So there’s a staccato intensity in the way Joseph pours out the confessional cascade of Kerr’s childhood memories, recollections of the other characters (including Pooley’s alluring personal assistant, and Pooley’s domineering wife), and the fiery allocutions of his aesthetic philosophy, however confused it may be. As viewers, we become witnesses to an increasingly funny but ironic and complex transformation. It’s an extraordinary morphing wherein Joseph’s most riveting sleight–of-personality is his portrayal of the self-aware Lucky. While seeing life from Pooley’s perspective, Lucky/Kerr also temporarily poses as God, hoping to direct Pooley’s NEA policy decisions.
In a future time and place, maybe this play will be regarded simply as a curious, sardonic caricature that skewered the self-righteous sloganeering and misguided visions of myopic politicians and artists alike. But as it is now, and beyond considering potential elimination of the NEA (always an easy target in the panoply of Federal budget expenditures), Blessing’s play (a blessing of a play) still speaks with palpable urgency and thought-provoking wit to our acrimonious times.
At the end I was reminded that now more than ever before, we need to start seeing each other not as adversarial agendas, but rather as faithful retrievers, so to speak, of cultural dignity and peace. These days, maybe America is like that old joke about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac who stayed up all night, thumbing through the Bible, looking for Dog.

controversial opinion: I don't get the appeal of rebelcaptain at all! but apparently based on the polls it has a very devoted following? like, I'm SHOCKED that it beat hanleia! it always just struck me as another case of Hollywood shoving a romance b plot into a movie that didn't need one (and didn't have the time to really develop it because that wasn't the focus of Rogue One)
I'm not even here to be a hater, I'm curious - maybe people who like rebelcaptain can share some things they like about it? change my mind!
I’m pretty ambivalent about Rebelcaptain. I do consider it to be the ‘default’ Jyn ship, and I’m always happy to write it (it pops up in “Across the Stars”, after all), but I wouldn’t say I’m a massive stan or anything. I also don’t dislike it at all.
TBH, I feel like you could also read Jyn and Cassian’s canonical relationship as a very tight, forged-by-fire friendship. But that’s just my reading of it.
I’ll throw this one to the notes. If you’re a Rebelcaptain shipper, what makes you so passionate about your OTP?

i didn’t like lars mikkelson as live action thrawn, in my mind thrawn should be way more physically intimidating and “other” to enhance his alienness. with lars there it just felt like a guy got painted blue (basically what happened). and what happened to the red eyeliner from rebels?!

Look, I concede your point that Lars doesn't quite have Thrawn's physically intimidating presence (though he is very tall). But honestly, I can't see anyone else playing the big blue bastard.
Also, he looks pretty 'other', imo. It's more subtle, but he still has that 'V' ridge in his forehead, and his eyes are downright freaky-looking in live action.
That being said, I am a bit of a fake Thrawn fan; I haven't read any of the books or graphic novels. So perhaps I'm biased because I've only seen Thrawn portrayed by Lars Mikkelson.
Anyway, in response to your other point: Hey! Leave the poor guy alone. Do you know how hard it is to find Fenty Beauty Flypencil Longwear Pencil Eyeliner in shade Cherry Punk on Peridea? The Peridean Sephora is always out of stock!

Ok for star wars hot takes: Padme is the same flavor of insane as anakin, and even in AUs where they are not together, if she is not diving headfirst into situations that have the worst vibes imaginable I don't believe it. People say she didn't see the red flags, My Brother, she saw that shit and decided to go for it
Anyway. If she is off somewhere doing other things while anakin kisses obi-wan or something, then I expect those activities to be suitably dangerous and deranged, thank you.
I am that special breed of Anidala shipper who wholeheartedly believes that she saw the red flags and was into it.
Also, yes! She's basically The Heroine Without Fear and more people need to acknowledge that!
...so with that 'while Anakin kisses Obi-Wan or something' comment are you referring to a recent post of mine or is that just what you assume Ani does in his Padme-less time?
