Din Djarin: Jedi Knight, Crush of many Padawans, reluctant master
He was found by Obi-Wan at his homeplanet, taken to the Temple and raised there. Order 66 never happened and Ahsoka took him as Padawan so he's officially part of the disaster lineage. Luke grew up idolizing him and has a bigass crush on him ;3
Other Stuff: [Mando Luke]

... anyway! if i wasn't so tired/busy this whole fucking month, i'd already have gotten to a comfortable spot in the 3quelfic Part 1 revisions and started the final outline and first draft of That Staircase Doodle fic, but i am tired/busy so the best I can do right now is spend way too much time sketching and cleaning up said sketching some thoughts on Reluctant Mand'alor Din and Jedi Knight/Ambassador Luke.
i intentionally left in the older sketch line layers to 1) show my thought(?) process as i figure out a composition and 2) remind myself that this is NOT a polished piece, I don't got time to make fancy arts beside the 3 final prints for the print shop project.
I have one more scribble ready to go but it's thematically so dramatically different from this little one that I'll post it either Thursday or Friday night.
... I should.... actually get back to writing fic actually.

I think once you accept Arthurian legend as the model for The Mandalorian, this season’s inclusion of Bo Katan makes sense. Other people have pointed out the hallmarks so far: Din’s shining armor, the chivalric code summed up in “This is the Way,” Din slaying a krayt dragon and wielding a magic sword (although I argue the Darksaber is both Excalibur and the Holy Grail). You could even make a case for Grogu as Merlin. What's missing is fealty to a lord or lady-in-waiting.
Bo Katan’s heritage wasn’t always named in The Clone Wars and Rebels, but in Mando, it's a big and constant deal. She’s The Heiress, the princess from a mighty house, the noblewoman who didn’t abandon her people. Lady Bo Katan is both King Arthur and Lady Guinevere, and Mandalore is Camelot. IDK if I would go so far as to say Din is Lancelot, but after “I will serve you until your song is written,” he’s definitely one of her knights.
And so, you can view their dynamic through courtly love conventions: she sends him on quests and inspires him to fight while his love is categorically unconsummated. Not unrequited, she recognizes their relationship, but the lady was often married and of higher rank, the point being she was beyond his reach and yet his devotion was singular and energizing. Both DinBo shippers and nonshippers are valid because courtly love behaves romantically and platonically; it works precisely by having both kinds of love exist in tandem simultaneously, each complementing and complicating the other.

To Disney’s credit, Disney era Star Wars (largely excluding the sequels) have done very well showing distinctive lightsaber fighting styles and forms.
Moff Gideon for example: when he fights Mando with the darksaber, he uses a lot of jack and slash movements with emphasis on his shoulders, like he knows how to use a sword, but he’s wielding a broadsword that’s a bit too long and heavy for him, so he has to use all his upper body to swing it.
Or Ahsoka in the Mandalorian: she’s clearly a master combatant, but her style is noticeably aggressive. She’s in control of every move she makes, and you can especially see that when she fights the magistrate, but she’s clearly fighting to win and will not hold back with her ferocity when she’s fighting to win, and it’s reminiscent of her master’s teachings.
Or Vader in the Obi Wan series: in a bit of a tie-in to the OT, Vader is shown using Form II (one-handed fencing style) when he’s toying with his opponent, but switches to trying to overpower his opponent with his modified Form V style when he’s no longer toying. He did this in Empire against Luke and again against Obi Wan and Reva both, and I love this form of casual dominance Vader likes to indulge.
Obi Wan’s defensive style begins to shine in episode 4 of the series. In 3, he was completely out of practice and scared out of his wits by Vader, but having begun to reconnect with the Force and his mastery, he’s able to take out several stormtroopers with some difficulty, but it appears to be getting easier for him as he goes, like he’s remembering more and more of his skills, and by the time he fights Vader again, he can more than hold his own.
And of course, Luke Skywalker himself. He fights with Form V, designed to overpower opponents, and it shows with the wide, sweeping slashes, but it never seems like he’s fighting aggressively. He doesn’t waste motions and he moves quickly, but he’s never in haste. When he isn’t fighting, when he’s just moving from one group of troopers to the next, and even at times when he is, he isn’t running, just walking, quickly for sure, but never in a rush or in haste. He’s always in control of himself. The way he moves when fighting the dark troopers, his quick, agile moves, his powerful, sweeping blows, and the consistent aura of calm he radiates as he fights, it all screams mastery.
Point being that lightsaber combat forms being shown as such a distinctive quality is a real pleasure, and I’m enjoying seeing it.

What is Cor’s relationship like with Orgus?
Oh. Oh, its.../gestures at my blog header/ yeah. Yeah. I'm just gonna put some snippets from "Crescent Moon Rising" of them. Oh god they're best duo. Dad and Son. But Jedi. 😭💙
“That was very well-handled, Corrain,” he said, his tone kind even as it was brusque. “And well done with your mission to help the Twi’leks as well. But you must be tired after what you’ve managed to accomplish today - it might be time for some sleep.”
It was an astute observation, but not one that Corrain could honestly say he appreciated, and against his better judgement he made a face, huffing. Orgus’s smile grew by a few teeth, the older man chuckling lightly even as Corrain puffed up in indignation.
“Oh, don’t look at me like that, Padawan, I can see the bags forming under your eyes,” his master said, a hint of teasing in his tone. “Whippersnappers like you need to go to bed early anyway so you grow tall and strong.”
Corrain’s jaw dropped, but the smile on his teacher’s face was infectious and in spite of the indignant offense he was most certainly taking against the unwarranted commentary, he found himself struggling not to laugh at the teasing.
“Master!” he complained, fighting a smile. “I’m eighteen, I’m no whippersnapper - and I’m fine, I can do more if-”
Orgus shook his head then, silencing his student in midsentence.
“You’ve done enough today, Corrain. More than enough. I’m proud of you.” The crows’ feet at the corners of Orgus’s dark eyes crinkled like fine rice paper, gaze fixed on Corrain’s face. And for the life of him, Corrain couldn’t seem to form the words to respond, his mouth completely dry, shaken by the praise.
Orgus is. So incredibly Dad. He's just. Parent Shaped! And he treats Corrain like an adult, yes, but he's also very liberal with the "good job kiddo" and Corrain is barely 18 and trying so hard to be the best Jedi ever and Orgus just keeps telling him "it's okay. You've done enough, you've done well" 🥺
And another one-
And then he fell off the pallet and promptly landed on his elbow, sending a surge of painful fuzz through his arm and up his shoulder.
“Ow! Karking-”
“Padawan.”
He froze, then looked up with wide eyes to see Orgus gazing down at him, the corner of his mouth twitching even as he tried to look slightly disapproving. Meanwhile, on the holo, Satele waited calmly, watching them both with something like amusement in her gaze. Ah. Right. Frick.
“Uh. Sorry. Good morning?”
Oh, Orgus was definitely holding back a smile, and from the sighing from the Grand Master, it looked like she knew it wholeheartedly. Corrain couldn’t help the heat that rose to his face, carefully untangling himself from the cloak that had been laid over him - was this his master’s? - and rearranging the pallet, which had been knocked askew when he’d fallen off the crates. Finally, Orgus took pity on him, shaking his head with some kind of fond exasperation.
“Good morning, kid. Get your head in order, then head out to talk to Ranna while I finish up with the Council, okay?”
Well, he was probably never going to live that down. T7 whistled cheerily at his side, bumping gently against his knee, burbling in amused Binary. Even the droid was laughing. He sighed.
“Yes master.”
And then Orgus is teasing him! And Satele's just there, already knowing these two are going to be full of Banter and resigning herself to it-
His master gave him a sharp look then, sternness passing across his craggy face like a shadow on a cliff face.
“Thus - I must be careful with you here,” Orgus said firmly. “You’re strong, yes, but you’re also very young, and I’d think you haven’t yet had much experience with the Dark Side as of yet. You’ll have to encounter it at some point, of course, but…Kaleth will be a trial for you. You must contact me immediately if you need help - I refuse to lose another Padawan.”
Corrain’s breath caught at the reminder of his master’s previous loss, and behind Orgus, Ranna and Moorint’s expressions had both visibly softened, understanding drawing them into sympathy. He swallowed hard, then nodded resolutely, meeting the troubled brown gaze head on.
“I will pass this trial, master,” he declared, folding his hands over each other in front of him. “And I will be careful.”
The promise seemed to reassure Orgus significantly, a wry smile deepening the lines at the corners of his mouth.
“You’d better be, or I’ll have you meditating in the Temple for the rest of your time here,” he warned, smiling. “Or worse, I’ll make you mediate Master Braga’s and Master Kaedan’s debates.”
A sudden chill rippled down Corrain’s spine, the wry grin on his master’s face remarkably mischievous - almost foreboding. Somehow, he didn’t think he wanted to know what Master Braga’s and Master Kaedan’s debates looked like - their opposing philosophies were already well-enough known to cause some contention among Jedi. However, the progenitors of those two schools of thought, engaging in debate?
Nope. He’d much rather be scrubbing freshers than dealing with that.
“Master, I thought the Jedi disapproved of cruel and unusual punishments.”
And they are Bantering! Orgus is being a Dad, he wants Corrain to be safe but he also knows Corrain can't be sheltered forever so he's trying to find safe ways to help Cor with the Kaleth Explorations- and then they banter, because Orgus is quippy and it makes Corrain smile and puts him at ease-
"You sit tight and assist the Twi’leks however you can until I return - you should be safe enough there, as long as you are careful when you explore Kaleth. And if you do see Bengal - contact me immediately. Do not engage him. Understand?”
Corrain nodded, dipping his head as Orgus wagged a finger at him reprovingly. The layer of calm weighed gently on his shoulders, like a thick blanket on a cold Alderaanian night, comfortable and cozy. Suddenly, he felt sleepy, exhausted from his two days of watchful caution in Kaleth and the return journey. Was the adrenaline finally starting to die down? Or was it the way the gentle warmth and peace of Tython’s presence and his master’s reassurance seemed to envelop him, lifting away the anxiety that kept him awake?
“I understand, Master - no sibling rivalries with the other Padawan or we’ll both be meditating in the Temple for a millennium,” he yawned, absently poking fun at the man before him- and before what he’d said could register, Orgus chuckled fondly.
“Alright, you little wisecracker, scoot to bed. I can update Ranna and Moorint on the rest of this without you falling asleep on me.”
“And whose fault is that?” Corrain muttered, sending a sulky little huff through the Force along the subtle current-within and grinned sleepily as Orgus rolled his eyes, still smiling.
“Go, Padawan.”
And Orgus using their budding Force Bond to make Corrain sleepy so his Padawan goes the fuck to sleep instead of trying to overextend himself-
Orgus is one of the only Jedi who not only will straight-up tell Corrain that he's done enough, it's okay for him to rest now, but he'll say that and Corrain will actually listen to him. They're similar people but Orgus sees a younger, more innocent version of himself in Corrain and he wants to protect that as much as he can, and Corrain sees a role model in Orgus, a trusted semi-parental figure he can look up to and learn from regardless of how skilled he becomes.
And then, of course...Corrain loses him. 😭😭😭😭

When Orgus Din came back as a Force Ghost and encouraged Dariya to do some minor tasks that would help out a town she didn't even know, I think that was a really important moment for Dariya.
Just the fact that she got to talk to her master one more time, and that she was able to do something that wasn't war for the day. She got to slow down and think about her life outside of the war. What she wanted to do when it was all over (become a farmer or teacher maybe).
It's a day that always stuck with Dariya. All through Revan, Arcann, and the Alliance. She'll always remember and treasure that day.

Replaying the Jedi Knight prologue
The masters are so mean to Kira.
Orgus introduces her as “Master Kiwiiks’ Extremely vocal Pawadan” That’s so mean. The Knight talks without being called on in a council meeting and isn’t scolded.
Tumblr media
[Image of a screen shot of subtitles from SWtor. Master Orgus Din: This is Master Kiwiiks and her extremely vocal Padawan, Kira. The other masters are transmitting from distant worlds.]
Than later the knight can say something mature and Master Kiwiiks calls Kira out on it.
Tumblr media
[ Image of a screen shot of subtitles from SWtor. Master Bela Kiwiiks: This is what you should aspire to, Kira.]
What did Kira do? I think she’s being called out for talking out of turn at council meetings but do they have to humiliate her in front of the prize student #2? We joke about the council favoring the Jedi consular. But there is some favoritism here.

The Jedi Way.

Masterlist.
Chapter 1>>
Din Djarin x female jedi oc.
A/N: While I was writing "Arranged Marriage" I couldn't get this idea out of my head, which was giving me writer's block. So I decided I better write both at the same time ;)
Warnings: In this prologue the death of several characters is mentioned, in addition this fic will contain spoilers of the series "The Mandalorian" in case you have not seen it.
Prologue:
Lyanna Skywalker could safely say that her life used to be perfect. She was lucky to have been born on one of the most beautiful planets in the galaxy and proud to have been chosen as its queen at the age of 14. Besides, she had married the prince of Alderaan, Baelor Organa, with whom she had two sons; Killian and Cassian. But all her happiness, like her reign, was short-lived. Her husband and her children died on Alderaan the day the planet exploded, causing her to abandon her position as queen to make room for a new one and join the Rebel Alliance in a more physical way in their fight against the Empire.
In her time as a rebel she held various positions. She was a rescuer of those people who were kidnapped, mostly from Naboo, she led attacks on different Imperial bases as Commander of the Red Squadron, protected the spies of the rebellion and taught people to fight, all this while eliminating any clues about the rebellion that included the name of her planet. She was so influential throughout this period and won so many titles, that in the end she gained great renown among supporters of the cause.
But there was some light, because it was in this period that she found out about the truth about her family. She knew from a very young age that her parents were not those who had raised her, hearing countless stories of her biological parents, as these were given to her by Ben Kenobi in person that time he went to visit her in Naboo. But having gained a brother and a sister, after such painful losses, brought to her life a happiness that she never thought she would feel again.
At the same time as her brother Luke, she was trained by Yoda on her path as a Jedi Knight, fighting side by side with her brother to bring an end to the Empire, all while constantly fighting to bring their father back from the dark side of the force. But Yoda did not really want to teach her to be a Jedi, he felt in her more power than he felt in Anakin Skywalker, but closer to the light than to the darkness, only for the love towards her siblings and deceased children. That is what made him refuse to teach her, those relationships that she had formed made it difficult to follow that path without getting lost in it, having as a consequence to suffer the same fate as her father. But as Obi-wan said, only a Jedi would bring back the peace and balance that existed before. And so, Yoda accepted.
Then, after Lyannna had helped her sister lay the foundations for the New Republic and trained more younglings in her Jedi way, she began to feel the force growing stronger in her. Her worst fear was ending up like her father. He was an exceptional young man with strength, but his weaknesses made him lose himself to the dark side, losing everything and everyone he loved and being responsible for thousands of deaths around the galaxy. So, to the chagrin of her siblings and all those who knew her, Lyanna Skywalker relinquished all her titles and after painfully handing over her lightsaber, the one that used to be her father's, walked away from everyone she knew and love to travel the galaxy in search of her own way. But she certainly didn't expect that purpose to be a Mandalorian and a little boy just like Yoda.
