A silly ex oc for @felsicveins exes au(?). I kinda hate the design, but darn it I tried my best. I would think that JD when he was young and naive would end up with a total jerkwad and really lower his standards for how relationships should be, so this ABSOLUTE loser is what I came up with. He was older than JD and pulled him in with a mysterious cringelord energy, and kinda "guided" JD through life with his experience (poorly). It was a painful yearlong explosive relationship that got worse the longer they stayed together. Tox is the one who walked off, thinking he was better than JD (he wasn't).

I thought everyone was making really nice exes so I had to come in clutch : 3c

(NO SHADE TO EMO ENJOYERS, that's just the random genre I landed on)

This is my OC for @felsicveins ‘evil’ exes thing (au? IDK). I really wanted to make one, so here is Daniel, or Dannie for short. He was John’s last ex in the line up. He isn’t evil just had a lot going on when he left, and after 2 years, he regrets leaving.

His and John’s relationship was kinda like Poppy and Branch’s relationship. Dannie knew about John’s past and all his exes. Dannie helped him understand and forgive his past self for everything that happened and also helped him with his commitment issues. In turn, John was there for Dannie, but Dannie was very closed-off and kept stuff to himself. The night that Dannie left, John was going to ask him to spend their life together but never got to. John is angry and bitter about what happened.

I have way more lore for this, but it is 1:30 am, and I have school tomorrow.

I was held at gunpoint by @felsicveins to make this so heres the run down for Bass:

Bass and John Dory meet after John Dory passes out in the dessert wholly unprepared to cross it after getting horribly lost going to the neverglade trail after the Brozone break up

Bass saves his ass and nurses him back to health, John Dory mistakes him for his guardian angel and calls him angel all the time as a pet name

John Dory has always been attracted to talented people and the first time John hears him sing he falls in love.

Bass is a solid guy, the best way to describe him, very forward in his needs and communication and very chill. Rolls with the punches and always gives good advice, a big picture guy.

Bass has a little puppy crush on JD that turns into something way more serious than he expects, which is the reason why they eventually break up, JD was never going to stay and Bass was never going to come with him.

John Dory and Bass had a few good months together before John Dory felt like he had to keep going on his weird wilderness journey of self discovery, which resulted in a fight between the two resulting in John leaving Vibe City early the next morning.

JD regrets leaving, regrets the way he jerked B around, he was too young and inexperienced to be mature about their relationship and he left on poor terms, later in life though he thinks of him with nothing but love and fondness; he was someone who showed John kindness at a low point in his life, he was just too stupid and naive to appreciate it.

When John Dory and Bass reunite after many years during the Brozone reunion tour it’s bittersweet but nice, after JD left Bass eventually settled down with his current partner and they had a kid. Bass is ecstatic, he is very nurturing and loves his kid more than anything (his name is Bo)

Julien redemption arc? Could be...

Finally! My Julien x Jet comic is done!! Thank you so much @felsicveins for letting me subject my son to the disaster that is Julien :)

More info about the piece and my thoughts under the cut :)

Once again, I am a BIG fan of drawing Julien and I had so so so much fun doing it! I got to add his tattoos this time which I thought was pretty cool and I ended up actually practicing facial expressions on him! Also, HE GOT A TAIL THIS TIME >:3

This is my first time doing a comic and I'm pretty proud of it given the fact that I took on so many panels. I tried typing the dialog and I was gonna give them all different fonts but that didn't end up working so I had to free hand it. I absolutely hated that bit but I think it is eligible enough and that was the goal.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have color. I really wanted it to and I fully intended on coloring it when I started but I simply could not get it to look how I wanted it to so it remains uncolored.

Some parts of it I think are lacking but over all I am really proud of myself for getting it done and it looking half way decent :)

Julien and Jet have been rotating in my brain for wayyy too long and I'm glad to finally be able to post this and hopefully get at least one other person on the Julien x Jet train!

@felsicveins I imagine Julien having to at least tell some people about John Dory being “dead” to keep up appearances for the life insurance thing. Jackie wasn’t sure if it was denial over losing a friend but seeing Julien after had her feeling some doubt over the situation. (I really like Julien he’s a fun character. Seeing him on my dash makes me smile)

Trolls - Hard Candy = Hard Drugs 🍭

Boom - Floyd's solo music helped Boom when he was coming out. 🏳️‍🌈

Floyd - high pain tolerance and godlike levels of patience.

Floyd - has been to rehab for hard candy, is currently 10 years sober. Now advocates for health and wellness in Pop Village.

Floyd - Broke up with several ex's when he found they were all only using him for his fame. 💔

Bruce - can and will reorganize someone else's kitchen to what he deems is more efficient.

Bruce - always the first to volunteer to babysit other Troll's kids. Not that he doesn't appreciate his own children, he just loves being about to dote on kids he can actually hold on his hip and carry in his hair. Just being able to do the little Troll things he can't do with his own giant kids.

Bruce - noone on the island knew about his 'past life' except for Brandy. (Canon?)

Clay - had to quit being the Fun Boy cold turkey so that the Putt Putt Trolls would trust in his leadership.

Clay - I imagine a running gag that random Trolls keep calling him Viva's boyfriend/husband, and he keeps trying to correct them, but he is always cut off or they immediately forget. At some point a random Troll is like "What, is Viva not good enough for you?" And he is so exhausted from fighting it, he just gives up and rolls with it.

Clay - will stay up to sunrise reading 'just one more chapter'

John Dory - when doing outdoor work, his brothers silently bet how long it takes before JD is unnecessarily shirtless.

John Dory - ends up helping with raising and handling the critters kept in the village. E.g rearing orphaned Cuddle Pups, shearing the Puffalos, breaking in the Adorabulls, taming wild flyer bugs.

John Dory - when living on his own, he would only come back to civilization just before the start of winter when it would be harder to forage and hunt food. He would spend a week or so stocking up on supplies, interact with the locals, then disappear again.

Rhonda - really likes rolling around in mud, especially after she's just been cleaned. JD > 😑

Random One - the medals that I designed for Clay and Viva's knighthood are supposed to be designed after the Troll Tree.

The way bi women have been talking about this for fucking years. Been yelling and screaming that we don't magically escape homophobia or misogyny just because we're dating, married to or fucking men and it was met with the vilest shit on this very fucking site. The way we provided study after fucking study. They way we said we deserve and need lgbt resources in case our cishet partners are abusive and it was treated as us being liars and invaders. The way we've spoken about how common biphobic beliefs (which inform why people refuse to even associate with the term "bisexual") has led to our high rates of ipv.

And we were ignored. People called us bihets (peep the url). People made it seem like were were just sluts that performed lesbianism for men (so much to unpack there). We were continually called liars and selfish and self centered and told that we were just trying to center our cishet relationships in lgbt spaces. People genuinely harassed bi bloggers for simply stating that bi m/f relationships were not cishet.

And now a bisexual woman who was abused for years because of her ex-husband's biphobic, misogynistic, jealousy, and she's just been told "Yes you were abused. No, you're not allowed to talk about it."

The fact that the biphobia is merely a footnote in most of the conversations surrounding the abuse (as if it can be neatly separated from JD's motivations behind his violence) is not lost on me either.

For some reason I’m mad and disappointed in BroZone’s parents.

Do Mom really hates John Dory? Do Dad not care about his four young sons?

Why did they keep their sons away from seeing each other?

What they did was really stupid and worse. Divorced or not, having siblings separated isn’t great idea. Poor Branch…

I’m glad that all brothers are finally going to reunite and Bruce and Clay giving John Dory a chance even if John Dory wasn’t sure if they want him back.

This gets just a bitttt long.

For Bruce's name the short answer is I'm just kind of lazy lol.

In my other human au, Half Life, there is a notion that Spruce doesn't like his name. It has nothing to do with a band or an old identity, like in canon but it does kind of include him moving on. It's actually kind of the opposite a little bit of canon and the band thing? Like, in Half Life, Spruce moves on my owning his name and learning to like it. It's his and no one can take that away. Sure, it's kind of weird and yeah, his parents gave it to him - but it's something that he confronts and works through, kind of like a metaphor(?) for him confronting and working through his feelings on what he has been through.

In Soldier On, I was mostly just lazy. I didn't think about it. The whole concept was really just that little snippet and I wasn't planning on doing anything else at the time so I just wrote Bruce. So, idk, maybe he changed his name in this au or maybe he was born/named Bruce. You can decide lol

As for Soldier On Specifically in the other questions...

Luckily, none of the bros actually blame John for pretty much any of this. Granted, it would be hard to be upset at all considering what he has been through and also that they kinda forgot about HIM. John Dory has some feelings and some reservations about all this. He loves them but he knows he's not always easy to get along with and considering the last part of his upbringing, he's got some doubts, mostly in himself.

Branch doesn't remember JD but he remembers little things, feelings, mostly. He can hum/possibly sing an old song that no one knows how he knows. No one knows where it came from. Well, no one knows because it was JD who made it up and sung it to him as a baby. A lot. So, it's almost kind of engrained accidentally? They do end up getting along.

As for their parents...

The mom doesn't hate John and the dad does care about his other kids; it was just the tail end of an extremely long and drawn out fight where no one really won. The divorce was brutal, bitter and messy. I'm talking no holds barred nasty. Now, I do want to say, that the dad was not abusive; he didn't beat up his wife or make the whole thing traumatizing for her. They aren't divorcing because she's trying to get away from her crazy ex husband. That is NOT what happened. They were mean and cruel to each other but this is not one sided and the mom is not a victim of domestic violence. I'm not saying the dad is better than her but I do want to point that out.

The only - sort of - compromise that the two of them were ever able to make was the dad getting the oldest son, aka John. There are reasons for this, partially because John could live where their father was going to take him and not be super dependent, partially becomes lets face it, courts will favor the mother and if he fought her more over the kids, he was going to lose. Not because he's worse (they both kinda suck) but because that's the way things work.

The mom dealt with things by cutting out her ex husband. Instead of trying to work together for the sake of their kids, she shut down and didn't want to think of her ex husband at all. She literally tried to cut him out of her life and since John had to go with said ex husband, she put him in the same boat. She erased his memory, as if he was never there. She did a lot, moving away and didn't tell anyone, got new phones, erased phone numbers and contacts and call history. She did not want her ex husband to have any influence or thought in her life and since John was with him - that included him.

The dad kind of lost fight. He was able to have the company of one kid - the kid who liked the outdoorsy things - and knew the future would not include the others. He moved up north into a place that wasn't very populated. Lived a very, very simple life. More survived than lived. I'm talking probably a log cabin in the middle of the woods kind of living. He accepted what happened and just kind of stopped. He did things with John, mostly fishing, hunting, other outdoor-nature things and he didn't systematically destroy his son's memory like their mother. However, he didn't talk about them either and eventually come to prefer the company of the bottle or a smoke when the subject of his other sons come up. John became extremely self-sufficient very quickly.

There grew some resentment in JD, for sure. Neither parent dealt with any of this really well and in the end, it's not technically what killed them, it was definitely a contributing factor. Both parents died pretty young, although of different causes. The kids were really the ones who lost. In their fight against one another and trying to forget about one another, they brought that all on their kids instead.

While the younger boys lived a busy life with a semi struggling mother trying to drown out any memory or talk of their father and brother, John spent his teenage years in loneliness and virtual silence.

It shows.
