📣 1st time in 65 years the mikoshi went to every single neighbourhood 😍 Torigoe Shrine has a history of about 1360 years. The annual Omikoshi parade, which takes place during the annual festival in June, attracts many visitors. 🤓 The large mikoshi, commonly known as the 'Sengan mikoshi', weighs approximately 4 tonnes and is said to be the heaviest in Tokyo. 🙃 At the front of the procession of portable shrines is the Sarutahiko (Tengu) and Tekomai dance troupe, as well as five-coloured flags carried by children. At the night festival, the original chochin mikoshi with lanterns on it, surrounded by tall lanterns, enters the shrine. The festival usually attracts tens of thousands of people, and has become a June tradition in Kuramae. 🤨 So why is it the 1st time in 65 years? 🤨 👉 Like mentioned earlier, four hundred people are needed to carry the mikoshi. When the mikoshi goes around each town council, it is supposed to be carried by the local clergymen of that town council. 😕 This has been a problem for Shinsaru 志ん猿. It is located about 1km away from the shrine and has few clergymen to begin with. The tradition of carrying the portable shrines to Shinsaru, which had continued since Edo, stopped in 1958. 😚 This year, a towing platform was adopted as an infection control measure. With the towing stand, the mikoshi can be pulled by about 60 people. Because of this, Shinsaru was able to join Torigoe Festival 2022. Fort the first time in 65 years, the mikoshi went around every neighbourhood. 🙋♀️ Can you feel the powerful matsuri here? #鳥越祭 #鳥越 #鳥越神社 #鳥越まつり #matsuri #japanesefestival #discoverjapan #japanculture #japanesefestivals #kuramae #discoverjapan #discovertokyo #explorejapan #exploretokyo #exploringtokyo #japanawaits #japaneseculture #japanesecultures #japanesetraditions #japan_focus #japanfocus #japangem #japangram #japantravels #japantrip #traveljapan #travellingjapan #visitjapan #visitjapanjp #visittokyo (at 鳥越神社) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cex_MuHFAJV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Wisteria x Shrine ⛩ 💜The purple colour of the wisteria matches the solemn atmosphere of the shrine. The wisteria at Hie Shrine is located on the right side, facing the main shrine building 🥰 😍 The variety of wisteria that blooms on the grounds of Hie Shrine is called "nodafuji," and the longest ones can reach 25 cm in length. ☺️ Despite being in the heart of Tokyo, there were many bees around the purple wisteria in search of nectar. 😉 The best time to view the wisteria at Hie Shrine is usually from mid-April to early May. Wisteria has the characteristic of blooming again at different times after the first flowers have fallen, and can be enjoyed until around July. 🙋♀️ Do you think the wisteria here is pretty? #wisteria #wisteriaflowers #visitjapanjp #discoverjapan #japan_of_insta #retrip_nippon #japangem #japangram #japanlife #japanlifestyle #japanlover #japannature #japanculture #japan_daytime_view #japanese #japaneseculture #japanesecultures #japanspring #japan_photo_now #photo_jpn #photo_shorttrip #team_jp #tokyogram #tokyolife #tokyolover #tokyoneighborhood #tokyoneighborhood (at 日枝神社) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc7tX7GlOWz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
